Part 2: Character Rules
Behavior
Be nice and respectful! If you act like any of the following: arrogant, know it all, bossy, rude, stuffy, excessively pushy or any thing like that which causes annoyance in the community and we get complaints, you are gonna get a stern talking to or just banned. We want this to be FUUUUN not OMFG CHAOTIC(In terms of OOC, IC chaos is fun XD)! So common sense, folks!
NOTE! NOTE I SAY! IT'S RIGHT HERE! ----> PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF MY SHOES....keep debates to a minimum. We have a box for discussions, but not ripping each other's heads off. {CLICK FOR DISCUSSION CBOX} I understand there are concerns regarding particular series and characters, I do, that's why I made that. BUT don't let it get out of hand, otherwise a staff will step in and be like "WOAH NELLY. CUT IT OUT." or something. We don't want that. No one wants that.
Spying and Harassment
I cannot begin to stress how irritating and annoying this is! I never thought I'd have to do this but after receiving a complaint from one of our members about this, it needs to be posted up here. Are you one of those people who like to check on things then report it to someone else because they're blocked from here? Well let me tell you, that's strictly prohibited and we won't allow it for a single moment if it's brought to our attention. Even more so if one or more of our members are being harassed because another site's drama. Please, throw me a cake snack and hand me some tea e__e we're here to have fun and be a nice community. So...in short, don't send little spies over here to see what we're doing and snag things from us, we're not sending people to spy on sites and doing stupid crap like that...so don't pull that bull over here. If we find out you're being a `source`/spy, trust me...it's not going to be pretty because we, the staff, watch over and care for the community, their ideas, and well-being.
No Godmodding
This one gets broken, you're outta here or getting a big fat lecture! No if ands or buts about it! You wanna move someone's character to move things along, ask them. This also means NO forced hits unless the person gives you the ok! This pretty much means you gotta give room for the person's character to react or else it's just not cool. Constantly dodging is also not ok, no one can ALWAYS avoid an attack with pure perfection. If you put `Dodges the attack` or something like that, you'll get a message to go into further detail about HOW it was dodged. Mainly because the person you're posting with needs to understand your character's movement to make a proper action along with the readers not being left to have a big fat `WTF` moment of doom. Disciplinary action will be taken based on complaints.
Portrayal
RP your characters as close as possible to their comic/game/movie/show selves. No one likes it when you RP based on out of context fandom, Example: Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon falling in love with someone other than Mamoru Chiba/Tuxedo Mask and vice versa. Sorry people who think Usagi is a lesbian...she's straight and has proven to be turned off when someone's female...otherwise she'd still be fawning over Haruka. So, in other words, character portrayal is VERY important! We, the admins will deal with "out of character"-esque portrayals. If you, the members have a complaint, inform the admins and we'll look into it.
Keep in mind that if I don't know much about the character and I get a report about an OOC-esque post, I will RESEARCH and ANALYZE the character to have an opinion of my own. Another example is let's say the RPer of Sailor Moon is mad at the RPer of Sailor Mecury, these two usually get along very well. If Sailor Moon started to act all fussy and rude toward Sailor Mercury for no apparent reason (Or a very poor and lame reason which doesn't make sense) then I'd get on your case and try to help you solve the problem. (I'll admit, these rules seem a bit much, but once you read through them, it'll make sense ^^)
ALSO, the only time this rule is bent even slightly is when we the staff decide that a character needs to be nerfed (weakened) to fit in here. OR there's an AU type to assist in fitting but not so much screwing their personality. Yet we have high expectations in the department of keeping them true to their personality, mannerisms and what have you. CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT HAPPENS VIA RPING, I DO UNDERSTAND THIS. However, I'm not going to be happy if your characters do something out of character that doesn't even suit them.
Continuity
Keep track of all of your threads! Continuity is important since it plays a role in character development! Meaning YES, you can have more than one thread as long as you can maintain continuity. :3 Check the next rule for more info <3
Character Development
Ok, so now onward to character development, what happens in a thread should have some sort of impact on your characters and referenced every now and then. Examples of this are events, friendships, enemies, people they meet, that sort of thing! We even have a section where you can create a timeline and note the events your character went through ^^! Mainly because as we know, as the RP progresses, things will change for your character. It's a crossover, so obviously the characters will have different ties than they would in their respective series.
PG13-ish
Let's keep the site PG13 (Cussing & bits of gore at worst). This is obvious, but no sex! Okies? You won't find a "naughty" board on here and you never will. You'll automatically be kicked, banned, and all that stuff from the site if we see any of that. Why? Because we like making the site suitable for people under the age of 18 yet still fun all the same :3
Posting Format
Alrighty, posts should be in third person & past tense! The actions should be in third person & past tense and dialogue in first person. YOU ARE NOT THE CHARACTER YOU'RE RPing O__O! Past tense is easier to understand than present tense. Here's an example of both.
Past Tense (What we're looking for)
Suzy walked into the store with a large smile across her lips. As she took each step, the happy girl hummed an upbeat melody.
Present Tense (What we MIGHT ask you to correct, it's okay as long as the RPers aren't getting confused.)

IF IT'S FINE WITH THEM IT'S FINE WITH ME CAUSE THEN IT'S NOT GODMODING.
Spelling & Grammar
Grammar and spelling is important! If one of the admins modify your post DO NOT PANIC, we're just fixing up errors for you! One of us will only do that if we think others might have difficulty understanding your post. We have spell check for the spelling part though, so please use it :3

Check up on the rules every now and then, something new might be added to help keep things a bit more in order! I'll usually post an announcement or mention something in the c-box!
Advertising & Affiliates
PLEASE do not advertise on our C-Box! You can have a link to your site in your name, that's just fine. But if you're posting your Ad in our C-Box, it'll probably be pushed down and out of view. So please, post it in the Advertising section if you just want to advertise, your ad will last longer that way. Potential affiliates, post your request in the Affiliate sub-board! OR let us know in your ad that you have an affiliate request with it, otherwise we may not catch it!
C-Box
In the C-Box, this should be a given, but DO NOT impersonate other people. If this goes on, I'll move the c-box elsewhere or even just remove it. Guests are allowed to post, just be polite and we won't have any problems! Also, DO NOT use avatars that have pornography...it's pretty clear that we don't allow smut on here -_-; PG-13 YOU GUYS!

Character Amount
REGARDING THE CHARACTER CAP: The character limit is now done away with! That means you can app as many characters as you like, WITHIN REASON. If you cannot keep up with all of your characters, or if you have important canons who aren't doing much but...sitting there collecting dust, please use common sense. Either clean out your characters and drop the ones you're no longer using on a regular basis, or at least have the decency to be willing to give an unused character up to someone who intends to be a great deal more active with them.
REGARDING CHARACTER APPS: Because we have done away with the character limit, we would like to make sure that no characters (particularly canons) are being neglected, or simply apped and then never used. To get members to pace themselves, and to make sure you're testing out your characters and seeing what all you can do with them properly, we're bringing back the X Posts Before Apping a New Character rule. However, we know that due to the slower pace of the board, it can be difficult for some of you to get ten posts in a brief period of time. Therefore, the rule is this: Before you app a new character from this point on, you must have five posts with your previous character.
REGARDING MULTIPLE CHARACTERS IN A FANDOM: Another rule put in place to make sure the 'NO CHARACTER LIMIT AWW YES' thing doesn't get too out of hand! From this point forward, we're going to ask you all to limit how many characters you take from one specific fandom. Because of the wide variety of fandoms AM allows, and because they all vary in size, amount of characters, and popularity, there's no set limit - it's going to be decided on a case-by-case basis. If you are part of a popular fandom, please be courteous and leave characters for other members. Use common sense. If you have a couple of major characters from that fandom already, take a minor one next - or better yet, branch out into another fandom entirely! If we see character hogging in a fandom, we WILL put a stop to it.
Avatar & Signature
PLEASE have an avatar and signature of your character to help people give a better visual of your character. If you have an OC/Custom Character, look for a picture base (Check the Character Rules about the piccy base!). We have a request section where you can ask for graphics if you're having trouble finding any ^^ For sigs, make sure they don't stretch the screen! So keep it at about 550 to avoid stretching out the site. If it's too big, a staff member will contact you and request that you make the sig smaller. THIS IS NOT A REQUIREMENT! It's ok if you don't have a set C: you're not gonna get in trouble over something silly like that <3
Wait until you're approved
DO NOT, I repeat...DO NOT POST until your character is approved! What I mean by post is an RP post, I don't mind if you post around in the OOC sections if you're unapproved ^^! You can, however, post with an unapproved character in the ICC while waiting on us staff folk.
Activity
All members are expected to post at least ONCE a month, though not once per-character, since it can be very difficult to get threads going with certain characters. Only one post will suffice to keep all your characters around. On the other hand, if you fail to make a single post during the month, you will not be allowed to save your characters. You must make the post BEFORE the activity check, so to ensure that you aren't just doing it last-minute to save your characters. To go along with this, activity checks will become a monthly affair as opposed to once in a while - and we will no longer be sending out a mass email, as we feel it leads to people saving their characters and doing nothing with them. The activity check will take place the last week of every month. Accounts of people who haven't posted will be deleted immediately. However, you will be able to re-app your characters and take them up again, unless someone else wishes to take them and gets to it before you.
ABSENCE POLICY
I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH! LIKE. SERIOUSLY. If you think you'll be away or not able to post very often, LET US KNOW! We have a board for you to introduce yourself AND to keep us informed that something came up. I'm usually very understanding about this, but don't abuse that or I'll become a scary strict monster. Just be considerate and let us know if something might come up ^^ As long as we're aware that something came up, we won't hold it against you.
P.S: What we WILL hold against you is if you take advantage of our kindness and go post happy with other sites and not ours while being "away", holding up everyone. That. is. NOT. cool. and will not be tolerated...
RESERVATION POLICY
Reserves will stay up for one month's time. If they are not apped in that amount of time, they will be removed, and that character will be up for grabs again. At the end of one month, you're free to re-reserve - but, since you've already had a month to app them, you will only be granted half that time the second time around. So, a two-week window to save your reserves, basically.
NPC POLICY
Non Player Characters are intended to move the story along! So, you know what this means, right? You'll be allowed to have an NPC account if you are as active as you can be on here. However everyone can NPC civilians and such as well as petty thugs. Just if you want an account SPECIAL for NPCs you'll need to be active and willing to hop into threads to keep things entertaining. Our main NPCs are creatures of the night, civilians, and trouble makers. Not everything is gonna be perfect ;D Please don't NPC a canon character (Like actually RPing them, flash backs not includedlike batteries for some stuff you buy! not always included :B) someone might take up, it's a lot like godmodding. Unless we make a list of canon NPCs that people are welcome to NPC.
These skins are OUR skins...
Common sense, but I want to point it out that these are OUR skins and the staff has put their hard work into them. If we find that our hard work is on some other site that we're not even part of, then you can bet hell hath no fury like angry graphic artists. So please, don't take any part of our skins and plaster them on your/other sites. We've put lots of hard work into them...so don't be a lazy butt, make your own graphics e__e
Plagiarism
Give credit where credit is due. If you didn't take the time to write something up on your own or re-write it and all you did was copy and paste, don't take credit for it. I mentioned this before and I'll mention it again...DO NOT copy someone elses OC! I'll take action if I get a report with the proper evidence.
Open & Closed threads
I cannot begin to stress enough how IRRITATING it is to see a board swarming with restricted and closed threads! For cripes sake, I understand character relationship development (Not just talking about romance here, people) but it's so silly when most of the boards are closed! We encourage open threads here unless it's for something like a meeting or where the situation can't really have more than a select few characters. When any of the staff sees your thread and think it's stupid for it to be closed and completely restricted to others then we'll change it to open. It's pretty hard for a site to thrive when members don't feel welcome. I know the rules may seem kinda harsh at times but trust me, we're really all about fun fun fun and the rules help us keep it that way! xD
OH HEY! If your thread is OPEN and YOU COMPLAIN about someone JOINING it....I'm not going to be happy about it. IN FACT. It's best you just quietly exit your character instead of throwing a FRIVOLOUS COMPLAINT. I've grown sick and tired of people making open threads then throwing a hissy fit that they don't want a certain character in it. If you're gonna have that attitude in the first flippin' place then just make a tag thread. PLUS IT'S INCREDIBLY RUDE! Wanting me to DELETE SOMEONE'S POST just because you have a stick up your butt and the post DOES NOT involve godmoding, I will lecture you once...maybe twice...but after that YOU MIGHT GET BANNED. I cannot stress how much I dislike it when people are rude to other members, people post in open threads cause THEY WANT TO JOIN IN AND FEEL LIKE THEIR CHARACTER FITS THE SITUATION! I thought it was common sense but I was proven wrong and thus.....this.

Please don't be scared to ask the staff anything that you want to be more informed about, ok? We don't expect everyone to be a know it all and be on the same track as us. So if you want to ask us whether or not something is ok, then by all means ask us ^___^ the only time we bite like crazy alligators is when people BREAK rules and we'd love to prevent that.
What series we accept and won't accept
Yes, we understand that this site is a MASSIVE MULTI-UNIVERSE crossover but there are some series/characters we just won't accept. Such as if a character is much too strong for the majority and not a team/group of heroes/villains can't even take them out by working together at the very least. That or if the character(s) you're interested in are in a strange time frame that doesn't quite fit in with everything else. Such as you can't figure out a way to make an excuse for them to show up in the AM-verse. If you can think of a way to write the character but in doubt....ASK. THE. STAFF! We're also not going to accept a lot of Disney stuff because let's face it, Bambi doesn't stand a chance. Sorry! I love Disney...but their cute, defenseless talking animals? It's just not going to happen in this setting. When in doubt, please for your sake and ours, ASK THE STAFF about the series and character you want to include on this site! This site is more like a case-by-case scenario for the characters we allow. Honestly, all of us here at Afterhour Mayhem would hate for you to work hard on a profile that we can't even accept. Another note is we're never EVER going to allow Haruhi Suzumiya, she's literally godly so no don't bother thinking about it. (Yes this rule is listed twice because it's just that special) We'll have more details on the actual character list. PLEASE NOTE! REGARDING MULTIPLE CHARACTERS IN A FANDOM: Another rule put in place to make sure the 'NO CHARACTER LIMIT AWW YES' thing doesn't get too out of hand! From this point forward, we're going to ask you all to limit how many characters you take from one specific fandom. Because of the wide variety of fandoms AM allows, and because they all vary in size, amount of characters, and popularity, there's no set limit - it's going to be decided on a case-by-case basis. If you are part of a popular fandom, please be courteous and leave characters for other members. Use common sense. If you have a couple of major characters from that fandom already, take a minor one next - or better yet, branch out into another fandom entirely! If we see character hogging in a fandom, we WILL put a stop to it.
Avatar & Signature
PLEASE have an avatar and signature of your character to help people give a better visual of your character. If you have an OC/Custom Character, look for a picture base (Check the Character Rules about the piccy base!). We have a request section where you can ask for graphics if you're having trouble finding any ^^ For sigs, make sure they don't stretch the screen! So keep it at about 550 to avoid stretching out the site. If it's too big, a staff member will contact you and request that you make the sig smaller. THIS IS NOT A REQUIREMENT! It's ok if you don't have a set C: you're not gonna get in trouble over something silly like that <3
Wait until you're approved
DO NOT, I repeat...DO NOT POST until your character is approved! What I mean by post is an RP post, I don't mind if you post around in the OOC sections if you're unapproved ^^! You can, however, post with an unapproved character in the ICC while waiting on us staff folk.
Activity
All members are expected to post at least ONCE a month, though not once per-character, since it can be very difficult to get threads going with certain characters. Only one post will suffice to keep all your characters around. On the other hand, if you fail to make a single post during the month, you will not be allowed to save your characters. You must make the post BEFORE the activity check, so to ensure that you aren't just doing it last-minute to save your characters. To go along with this, activity checks will become a monthly affair as opposed to once in a while - and we will no longer be sending out a mass email, as we feel it leads to people saving their characters and doing nothing with them. The activity check will take place the last week of every month. Accounts of people who haven't posted will be deleted immediately. However, you will be able to re-app your characters and take them up again, unless someone else wishes to take them and gets to it before you.
ABSENCE POLICY
I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH! LIKE. SERIOUSLY. If you think you'll be away or not able to post very often, LET US KNOW! We have a board for you to introduce yourself AND to keep us informed that something came up. I'm usually very understanding about this, but don't abuse that or I'll become a scary strict monster. Just be considerate and let us know if something might come up ^^ As long as we're aware that something came up, we won't hold it against you.
P.S: What we WILL hold against you is if you take advantage of our kindness and go post happy with other sites and not ours while being "away", holding up everyone. That. is. NOT. cool. and will not be tolerated...
RESERVATION POLICY
Reserves will stay up for one month's time. If they are not apped in that amount of time, they will be removed, and that character will be up for grabs again. At the end of one month, you're free to re-reserve - but, since you've already had a month to app them, you will only be granted half that time the second time around. So, a two-week window to save your reserves, basically.
NPC POLICY
Non Player Characters are intended to move the story along! So, you know what this means, right? You'll be allowed to have an NPC account if you are as active as you can be on here. However everyone can NPC civilians and such as well as petty thugs. Just if you want an account SPECIAL for NPCs you'll need to be active and willing to hop into threads to keep things entertaining. Our main NPCs are creatures of the night, civilians, and trouble makers. Not everything is gonna be perfect ;D Please don't NPC a canon character (Like actually RPing them, flash backs not included
These skins are OUR skins...
Common sense, but I want to point it out that these are OUR skins and the staff has put their hard work into them. If we find that our hard work is on some other site that we're not even part of, then you can bet hell hath no fury like angry graphic artists. So please, don't take any part of our skins and plaster them on your/other sites. We've put lots of hard work into them...so don't be a lazy butt, make your own graphics e__e
Plagiarism
Give credit where credit is due. If you didn't take the time to write something up on your own or re-write it and all you did was copy and paste, don't take credit for it. I mentioned this before and I'll mention it again...DO NOT copy someone elses OC! I'll take action if I get a report with the proper evidence.
Open & Closed threads
I cannot begin to stress enough how IRRITATING it is to see a board swarming with restricted and closed threads! For cripes sake, I understand character relationship development (Not just talking about romance here, people) but it's so silly when most of the boards are closed! We encourage open threads here unless it's for something like a meeting or where the situation can't really have more than a select few characters. When any of the staff sees your thread and think it's stupid for it to be closed and completely restricted to others then we'll change it to open. It's pretty hard for a site to thrive when members don't feel welcome. I know the rules may seem kinda harsh at times but trust me, we're really all about fun fun fun and the rules help us keep it that way! xD
OH HEY! If your thread is OPEN and YOU COMPLAIN about someone JOINING it....I'm not going to be happy about it. IN FACT. It's best you just quietly exit your character instead of throwing a FRIVOLOUS COMPLAINT. I've grown sick and tired of people making open threads then throwing a hissy fit that they don't want a certain character in it. If you're gonna have that attitude in the first flippin' place then just make a tag thread. PLUS IT'S INCREDIBLY RUDE! Wanting me to DELETE SOMEONE'S POST just because you have a stick up your butt and the post DOES NOT involve godmoding, I will lecture you once...maybe twice...but after that YOU MIGHT GET BANNED. I cannot stress how much I dislike it when people are rude to other members, people post in open threads cause THEY WANT TO JOIN IN AND FEEL LIKE THEIR CHARACTER FITS THE SITUATION! I thought it was common sense but I was proven wrong and thus.....this.
WHEN YOU DON'T WANT RANDOM PEOPLE JOINING YOUR THREAD THEN INSTEAD OF USING (Open) USE THE (Ask to join) TAG! That way people KNOW TO ASK FOR SURE. .....phew....ok... C:
When in doubt, ASK!
Please don't be scared to ask the staff anything that you want to be more informed about, ok? We don't expect everyone to be a know it all and be on the same track as us. So if you want to ask us whether or not something is ok, then by all means ask us ^___^ the only time we bite like crazy alligators is when people BREAK rules and we'd love to prevent that.
What series we accept and won't accept
Yes, we understand that this site is a MASSIVE MULTI-UNIVERSE crossover but there are some series/characters we just won't accept. Such as if a character is much too strong for the majority and not a team/group of heroes/villains can't even take them out by working together at the very least. That or if the character(s) you're interested in are in a strange time frame that doesn't quite fit in with everything else. Such as you can't figure out a way to make an excuse for them to show up in the AM-verse. If you can think of a way to write the character but in doubt....ASK. THE. STAFF! We're also not going to accept a lot of Disney stuff because let's face it, Bambi doesn't stand a chance. Sorry! I love Disney...but their cute, defenseless talking animals? It's just not going to happen in this setting. When in doubt, please for your sake and ours, ASK THE STAFF about the series and character you want to include on this site! This site is more like a case-by-case scenario for the characters we allow. Honestly, all of us here at Afterhour Mayhem would hate for you to work hard on a profile that we can't even accept. Another note is we're never EVER going to allow Haruhi Suzumiya, she's literally godly so no don't bother thinking about it. (Yes this rule is listed twice because it's just that special) We'll have more details on the actual character list. PLEASE NOTE! Our arcs may open windows for new series and such C: Such as futuristic & so on so forth that don't currently fit in our time frame, so if we like something but don't allow it at this time that you suggest TRUST ME we'll most certainly consider it <3 BE SURE TO ASK ABOUT THE CHARACTER YOU WANNA BRING IN! We allow doing AU to a degree!
