Cbox Name: Meekseh Nicknames: Meeks Main Account: Anya
Who else do you play?: Anya Jenkins
How did you find us?: RPGC.
Category: Angel: The Series
Name: Cordelia Chase
Alias: Friends call her Cordy.
Age: 24 years old.
Ranking: Hero
Physical Appearance:
Cordelia is fairly tall, standing at about 5'7--a height often accentuated by her insistence upon wearing a pair of fashionable heels, despite any inconveniences they might cause while fighting evil, and all. Her smooth, clear skin is lightly tanned, and her appearance made distinctive by a small birthmark on her jawline as well as a tribal sun tattoo on her lower back. She has a certain warm beauty about her, with bright hazel eyes and an even brighter--though somewhat mischevious--smile. Her hair is the subject of constant change; she just can't seem to decide which style to stick with. It is a dark chocolatey brown in color, and is currently about shoulder length.
Personality: Cordelia has changed quite a bit in the past nine years of her life. In her high-school days, she was your typical vain, superficial, self-obsessed cheerleader who cared for little more than her own popularity. But as time has passed, after all she's been through, she has truly grown and matured into an almost completely different person.
She is generally a pretty bright and happy person, with enough energy and bubbliness to make a room light up. She is generally pretty friendly, although she does tend to judge people based on a first impression. Once Cordelia forms an opinion on someone, it can be difficult to persuade her to change her mind. She is extremely stubborn and quite high-maintanance, and she doesn't have much patience for those who can't keep up with her. However, when she does form a relationship with someone, she doesn't take it lightly. She is a very loyal person and a very committed friend--she's learned a lot about the things and the types of people that really matter in this world, and she takes those values to heart.
Those who don't know her well may be deluded into underestimating her. The truth is, Cordy can at times seem rather ditzy, but in all actuality she is quite clever. She is very witty and sharp, with a practiced skill at sarcasm and snark that she makes sure she never wastes. Cordelia doesn't take crap from anyone--she'll tell you exactly what she thinks of you, especially if you're doing something she considers to be stupid or reckless. She defines tact as "not saying true stuff", so yes, she can be a bit of a brat at times--but if she's bitching at you, it probably means that she cares.
Because Cordelia does care about people. At times she is blunt or mean, but she does. As an empath who frequently recieves visions of people's pain, it would be difficult not to learn how to be compassionate. In this sense, Cordelia is very selfless. She will drop everything to come to the aid of someone who asks for her help.
And...as one last little note? She's kind of a goofball. She is very giggly, with a mischevious sense of humor and a seemingly endless supply of energy. Cordelia, as she puts it, "cracks herself up", and has been known to make jokes at the most inconvenient of times. And of course, she can be unintentionally funny as well, whether its through her indignant attitude, her general clumsiness, or her occasional cluelessness.
Powers/Abilities: She is experienced and very skilled in weapon combat(especially swordplay).
-Cordelia is a seer. From time to time, she is struck by short but intense visions of the future(or occasionally, the past). However, she has no control over where or when these visions occur, and when they happen, she becomes almost catatonic.
-Being half human, half demon, she also has a few other nifty abilities which include levitation, astral projection, empathy, and manipulation of light.
Equipment: Generally uses a variety of weaponry: swords, crossbows, mace--and of course, a wooden stake. She's had more experience with vampires than she'd like.
Weaknesses
Psychological Flaws: -She is a bit materialistic, and easily distracted.
-As an empath, she is very sensitive to the emotions of others--her emotions are probably her most potent weakness and the easiest way to get to her.
-She is especially vulnerable when she is receiving a vision, in which case she cannot see, move, or respond to anything that's actually around her.
Physical Flaws: -She's only human, despite her neat little abilities. Anything that'll hurt or kill a human is pretty much on Cordelia's list of things to avoid.
Other Flaws: Cordelia would consider herself flawless, but we all know that isn't true..
Brief History: Cordelia was born in Sunnydale, California, the only child of a very weathy and well-off couple. As a result, she grew up as a very materialistic and spoiled child who quickly became accustomed to getting everything she wanted and, well, being treated like a princess. In high school, she was pretty much the embodiment of what most girls want to be, and hate at the same time: head cheerleader, prom queen; the conceited, popular type who pretty much felt she could walk all over everyone else without consequences. And yet, though she would never admit it, Cordy was unhappy. She was isolated, empty, and overall frustrated with the superficial quality of her life.
All of this began to change with the arrival of Buffy Summers, famed Vampire Slayer. While initially, Cordy felt threatened by Buffy's arrival and set out to make life for her and her friends as difficult as possible, she soon was reluctantly drawn into the slayer's fight against evil--and eventually relinquished her 'popular' status for her new friends. However, around the time of her high school graduation, she had a bit of a falling out with Buffy's gang when her father was arrested for tax evasion, and as a result her life all but unravelled. Cordelia lost the wealth and status she had been accustomed to her entire life, and, left with nothing to do but start over, she moved to Los Angeles in persuit of a Hollywood acting career.
As it transpired, the whole acting thing didn't exactly work out. Life in L.A. was much more difficult than Cordy had expected it to be, and in no time she was reduced to life in an apartment that was falling apart, with barely enough money to get by. It was sheer luck that she happened to run into an old friend around this time: Angel, a vampire who had been cursed with a soul, who she'd known from her days in Sunnydale. She and Angel had never been the greatest friends, so perhaps it was only pity that made him offer her a job at his detective agency. But either way, Cordelia had little alternative and accepted his offer.
The beginning of her job at Angel Investigations was also the beginning of the most important part of Cordelia's life: the start of an entirely unpredictable adventure, a close and dear friendship,...and also, the beginning of her own demise. You see, she originally worked alongside Angel and his friend, Doyle. Doyle was a half-demon gifted(or cursed) with visions, visions that they used to interpret signs, predict events, and above all help and protect people. But when Doyle sacrificed his life to save his friends, he passed on his seer abilities to Cordelia, so that she could continue to help Angel. Doyle, however, was a demon hybrid, and was very much capable of handling such visions. Cordelia, on the other hand...was not. The visions initially caused her intense physical and emotional pain each time she recieved them. Their increasing power was slowly eating away at her, like a cancer...killing her.
To save her own life, Cordelia accepted a bargain with a supernatural being, who transformed her into a part-human, part-demon entity. As well as making her capable of handling the effects of her visions, this also gifted her with several other abilities. And so, Cordy continued her work assisting Angel in...well, saving the world on a regular basis. It all seemed pretty much normal, after awhile. Her years spent at Angel Investigations changed her from a shallow, conceited teenager into an experienced, compassionate, and mature young woman. She even began to fall in love with Angel, who had grown to be one of her closest friends over the years. For awhile there, Cordy was truly happy.
But of course, these things never last. And they didn't in this case, especially. A demonic entity that called ifself Jasmine possessed Cordelia for nearly an entire year, using her to get her pregnant so that it could have a life of its own in her child. Jasmine had melded so tightly into her conciousness that when the baby was finally born and the demon left her body, Cordelia's life essence was drained as well. She was left in a permanant comatose state, not dead, but...not really living, either.
When the time finally came for her to stop holding on to what little life she had left and cross over, Cordelia requested one last favor of the Powers That Be. For while she had been in a coma, Angel had almost completely lost himself. He had forgotten his destiny entirely; had become almost unrecognizable in his confusion and anger. He had lost sight of what really mattered. So, Cordelia made a deal: she was permitted to return to earth, and her friends, just long enough to get Angel back on the path he was supposed to be on. And that she did. After a brief, bittersweet reunion with the man she loved(and a good couple of pep-talks), Cordelia said goodbye to him--and all of her friends--for the last time.
Reason for being on AM: Cordy is sort of living on borrowed time. With the undead uprising and various other forms of evil accumulating in the world, she has been given a second life and had her half-demon status restored. However, she is more or less a guardian angel, sent to help wherever she can and take part in battling the forces of darkness. When she is no longer needed, it is very possible that her new life will be taken away from her again.
...But, until then, she intends to enjoy every second of her new shot at life. She did practically beg for this gig, after all. Who wouldn't want to return from the dead, even if only to accomplish a bit of zombie slaying?
Sample RP: It was foul, really. With a potential zombie apocalypse at hand, you'd think the assorted creatures of the night could at least stop their snarling long enough to maybe...band together against the looming threat? God forbid! Cordy thought irritably, narrowing her eyes as she took in the sight in front of her. Vampires. They only seemed to think with their stomachs--the soulless, murderous variety, anyway. She had been watching the scene in front of her with growing irritation: the tall, dark, charming creature employing its charms on a girl who couldn't have been older than seventeen. The dumb kid had followed the guy she had just met into an empty alleyway...at night. As if that wasn't just asking for trouble. Cordelia, who was practically able to spot a vamp from a mile away, was now the sole witness as the vampire, now in its fully transformed state, cornered the suddenly terrified girl. Time to step in? Probably.
"Yeah right, buddy. Don't even think about it." She spat scornfully, stepping into the alley and fixing the creature with a challenging glare. The vampire had heard her from the moment she moved, and had frozen in its advance upon its latest victim. But as soon as she'd finished speaking, it slowly turned its hypnotic gaze towards her. Surveyed her for a long, contemplative moment. And then, gradually, it smiled. That's right. Leave the girl alone. Come over here and pick on poor, helpless Cordelia. She urged the creature silently, every muscle in her body tensed as if she were ready to spring. She watched as the vampire took a slow, graceful step toward her...and then it paused. Its head tilted almost curiously to one side, and its nostrils flaired. Cordy knew what it was thinking: it couldn't smell her fear. Fear scent was probably typical in most of its victims; the confusion was understandable. But then, she was about to prove that she was anything but a victim.
Perhaps the vampire had decided that she was merely a stupid, insignificant little human who had no idea what kind of creature she was dealing with. Or maybe it just wanted to crush her insolence. Either way, within the next second the vampire made its move. It suddenly shot towards her with inhuman speed, its expression cold, merciless, hungry. The agility of the attack was so well-timed that escape would most likely prove impossible.
It was only a flinch, really. A tiny, sudden, almost unnoticeable raising of her arm--and the object which she'd concealed in her jacket. The vampire stopped in its tracks with a violent lurch, only centimeters away from her face. She met its wide, vivid eyes, took in its shocked expression and smirked before slowly withdrawing the stake she had just plunged through its heart. With a screeching cry of rage, the vampire disintigrated, and the ashes that remained fell to her feet. "Okay, yuck!" Cordy frowned down at the mess that now dusted her four-inch pumps as well as the cuffs of her jeans. "I just bought those shoes, too.." She rolled her eyes at her own luck, before turning on the girl who'd been about to become vamp-chow.
Cordelia's gaze was stern and reproachful, and she opened her mouth to chastise the kid's stupidity...but was stopped by the pale, frightened expression on the quivering girl's face. Cordy blinked, and felt an old familiar twinge of almost maternal warmth. She had to keep reminding herself that she wasn't doing this job to kick some ass--although she was getting pretty good at it--she was here to help people. Her expression softened into a reassuring smile as she gently offered a hand down to the girl to help her up.
"Hey...look, it's alright. My name's Cordelia." She introduced herself with no remaining trace of her former snarkiness. "It's alright," she repeated, "You're gonna be okay now."
It was all coming back to her now. She could totally do this.
