"Oh, indeed. There is a department for just about everything within our organization. Engineering, Intelligence, our army, the Ars Magi, we even have a governing body and president in Imperator Librarius...And let me add, it is a pleasure, Miss Chase."
Relius spoke up, casually and politely addressing the girl in his dignified manner and voice...Hazama, however, wasn't too fond of him spilling out how the organization actually worked to her. He'd intended to be vague if she had asked, giving her a scale but no actual concrete details as to the NOL's purpose...still, the old man had started, being vague was out of the question. He'd have to appear legitimate and informative to keep up his mask of kindness...Hazama didn't much like giving away potentially dangerous information, but he had little doubt Relius would do so anyway, and he may as well do it /his/ way.
"...In a way. We're situated all over the world--- Japan, Canada, France. Relius here is from Austria himself, though you'd never know it, and that's where the Engineering Department is based. We're overall a rather secretive organization, and we make out primary bases in the thirteen hierarchical cities above the ground...for example, the both of us recently finished a post and operation in the 13th Hierarchical City, Kagutsuchi, which is located above Tokyo. Before that, we were in the 9th Hierarchical City, Akitsu, which is in France."

So it seemed she'd not only stumbled upon quite an interesting pair of people, but existence of what seemed to be a highly official worldwide organization. Well, there she had it - you learned something new every day! Ideally, the N.O.L. seemed to be both more powerful and less corrupt than Wolfram and Hart...though she couldn't be sure of that, of course. But with such a large, well-established organization in existence, there were still the questions of what purpose they were meant to serve, which country or world power - if any - they were aligned to, and...
...Well, while these inquiries were legitimate, they seemed more in the territory of an FBI official, not a private detective. There was no pressing reason why she need to know these things right now, and Hazama had said that the organization was fairly secretive - which meant she wasn't sure whether he'd even be permitted to disclose that kind of information anyway. At Relius' words she'd caught just a flicker of disapproval from Hazama, which probably indicated that the matter wasn't too open for discussion.
"You must have quite a few resources at your disposal," Cordy mused aloud, a bit awed at the thought. That, at least, answered the question of how they'd managed to obtain those files. At any rate, if entities like The First and Wesker were perfect examples of the kind of people that the N.O.L. pursued, she didn't see much reason to try and interfere with their existence anyway. It was still something that needed looking into, of course, but maybe not immediately...So, making one final decision, she spoke again. "Aside from the stuff I have on the Scoobies, my agency's intel is pretty localized. But...if there's ever anything else either of you need, I'd be happy to try and help. "
She paused and stood up a little straighter, then tilted her head slightly. There was probably one last thing she'd need to clarify before she went. Turning curiously to Hazama, Cordy added, "Those reports you wanted...would it be easiest to just send them to this address?" That would seem convenient enough, but then again...with today's postal system, you never knew what might or might not be compromised..

"Oh? Well, Relius and I would gladly welcome any assistance you provide us during our stay here in New York City...But as for now, I think that's all we'd need. As for the reports, if you could, I'd appreciate it if you could deliver them orally to our immediate supervisor, Takamakahara. I'll give you his number if thats okay, though if you don't much like the idea, simply mailing them here would be fine."
Well! That was relatively painless to Hazama. He was half-way afraid she'd learn something incriminating and accidentally let it slip to someone important, like Anya or the like next she confronted her...but no, he'd done a rather good job at keeping his mouth shut. Standing up, he took a small notebook from his coat pocket and a pen and wrote a phone number. He then promptly tore it out and handed it to her.
"Oh, and one thing for you, Miss Chase. If you talk to Takamakahara, you must keep in mind that the name is shared by three people-- you may not be speaking to the same person every time. And, in all politeness, do try to be concise. Takamakahara is a rather...busy fellow."

Taking the number from Hazama, Cordelia scanned the slip of paper briefly before nodding and sliding it into her bag. Their supervisor - sounded reasonable enough, if not a bit mysterious. Making a quick call every now and then wouldn't hurt, she decided...in fact it'd probably be less tedious than a written report anyway. "Sure thing - I'll be in touch with your supervisor then!" She decided, pushing her bag a little further up her shoulder and preparing to make her leave...that was, until Relius added in one last bit of of information.
Three different people? How...interesting. It'd be better to keep that in mind, no doubt, seeing as she'd probably be making several of these calls. And here was yet another thing to be curious about; this Takamakahara person...people...well, whatever, but once again she refrained from voicing any of the inquiries that briefly flitted through her mind. If she'd be speaking with Takamakahara at some point, perhaps she'd find out soon enough anyway. Smiling slightly at Relius's last comment, Cordy agreed, "Short and sweet. Got it. I'll keep that in mind, and..." Momentarily breaking off to glance toward the door, she then turned back to Hazama and Relius, looked between them once more, and continued on.
"..I should probably be going. They're not kidding when they say New York never sleeps; there are probably crime reports piling up on my desk as we speak - and I'm sure you guys are just as busy as I am." Cordelia glanced briefly at the dossiers left on the table. Just judging from the sample that Hazama had shown her alone, it looked like he had a lot of work ahead of him. She reflected upon this briefly, but managed to remember her manners before turning for the door. "But it really was nice meeting you both. Thanks for...uh..not taking too much offense at my accusations of you being some evil murdering lunatic." Cordy added to Hazama rather bluntly, blinking away the slightly abashed look that had crossed her face.

Hazama merely chuckled at her sentence. Damn! There really were some unprofessional pieces of shit in his industry! It was amazing! A sign or something! It was like he was watching the common denominator round down! If this bitch could have a desk full of papers after fifteen minutes time in a hotel room, he had to shutter at the workload a /competent/ investigator would actually have! Oh god, Terumi counted his blessings and began to realize how lucky he actually was to have been born in a universe that wasn't filled to the brim with idiots like this! Then again, as the Head of the Intelligence Department, he /did/ decide who got in or not...hm...
"Please, no worries Miss Private Inspector Chase. Good hunting out there!"
With a false and comforting smile plastered on his face, he waved goodbye to the inspector. Internally, however, he couldn't help but find her hilariously incompetent. Ah well~! At least she had good intentions at heart right? Not that it'd really matters in the end...she'd have to die like everyone else on the rock. What a shame, what a shame! Hazama couldn't help but silently chuckle at the thought.

With one last nod to both Hazama and Relius, Cordelia turned and took her leave from the suite. It still mystified her a bit that she couldn't get a proper emotional reading from either of the two - not much other than calm neutrality, anyway, but...maybe that could all be chalked up to professionalism. At any rate, the detective didn't even come close to suspecting the truth here - or the real extent of the evil she'd been sent to confront. But as far as she was concerned, she'd been told two different stories: one by a half-crazy, hopelessly odd demon who'd once tried to kill her, and one by a composed, well-mannered and seemingly perfectly sane official. It wasn't difficult to choose who to believe.
That wasn't to say that there weren't still some things that needed checking up on, but none of them seemed pressingly urgent at the moment. Whatever Anya had said, Cordy couldn't really believe Hazama to be a threat...which probably meant that coming here had ultimately been a waste of here time, but then again she was walking away with at least some interesting information. If Angel were here, he'd probably grump about her 'hands-on' approach to all of this - but in the end, she'd get it all sorted out and sniff out the real source of evil in this city.
She owed her old vampire friend that much.
And with that last thought, Cordelia headed for home...or at least the office that'd practically become her home over the past couple weeks.
