When they arrived at their destination Mako peered out the window with interest, the place practically oozed class out of every orifice, Mako didn't share that thought but it resonated loudly in his head. It was taller then any of the palaces he had looted visited in his past. He peered at more gasless lights, people in the new age fancy wear which he wore the remnants of and not a white powder wig in sight... he was so glad that had gone out of fashion with the nobles of this world. It looks so dumb to him even back then. Like they had tied white sausages all over their heads. He was quite pleased in their absence enough he began to whistle as they exited the horseless carriage. He also noticed at the sight of the Princess workers were running into the building, he guessed to warn people of the princess's arrival, she did seem quite important.
As she excused herself to dress the majority of her guard went to escort her while a couple remained with him. The one that had called him a 'thing' (which he still didn't consider as big a deal as the Princess considered it) asked him to accompany him to the dining room. Seeing as 'dining room' equaled food he was more then happy to come with. He smiled one of his unique smiles and followed whistling happily. As he walked the guard snapped and got the attention of some guy in way too slicked up hair and a ugly little mustache. He informed him that "Miss Bao's guest Captain Mako wishes to start eating as soon as possible." The man who had began to sneer at Mako suddenly looked as if butter wouldn't melt in his mouth as he bowed and scraped and started showing him to a table out on the floor though Mako could tell he very much wished he could hide Mako from the other guests who were pointing and whispering.
"So Captain, what would you like to begin with? We have an excellent~"
"Meat"
"I.. uh... Pardon sir?"
"I want meat."
The man looked very disconcerted he seemed to not find Mako's reply any where approaching what he was used to.
"Ummm what kind of 'meat' sir? We hav~"
Mako tilted his head before interrupting again.
"Meeeeaaaaat."
He said it slowly this time elongating the word as if talking to a simpleton. As it was before the man could have a breakdown which he seemed to be headed towards the guard stepped forward and bowed slightly to Mako.
"Sir if I might help move this along?"
Mako shrugged.
"Meat."
"Indeed sir... would I be correct in assuming you would not mind having your first course tartare... that is to say raw?"
Mako's reply was simple.
"Meat."
"Indeed..."
The guard turned to the fancy man.
"The Captain will start off with four servings... no make that five of steak tartare, I suggest you hurry along with that order right off the bat before he considers eating one of your customers"
The man blanched and grabbed another similarly dressed man and shoved a piece of paper in his hands and whispered in his ear, the man BOLTED to where Mako assumed was the kitchen. At least the room he went to smelled of food.
"Next I believe two duck le orange, three servings of your finest steaks cooked... oh we will try rare, and five orders of prime rib would that seem to be a good meal for you sir?"
Mako paused and nodded before holding up one finger.
"Booze?"
"Oh right indeed sir! I think a couple of bottles of your finest white rum~"
"White rum?"
"Oh yes sir, originating from jamica, very high alcohol content."
"Oh... that does sound good."
"Indeed, as well as a bottle of fine whiskey. Would that be good sir."
Mako paused and nodded. The guard snapped his fingers and the man ran off with the piece of paper he had been writing on as Mako sat down peering around and waiting as the guards made themselves less... obvious at various locations around the room. Mako figured this might be an interesting day, maybe an interesting week.

After properly excusing herself, she walked along with about five of her guards who liked being all stealthy by wandering out of the crowd, ESPECIALLY in places her family owned. It was almost like some sort of unwritten law to have her people show up...though a lot of the time they were more for show, merely accessories. Kinda just to keep people from bothering the hell out of what remained in her sanity. It was just...so...annoying when peasants and commoners would make irritatingly petty inquiries. Letting out a sigh, she stared down at the dress and acknowledged a small spot of blood from her current attire got on it...greeeaaaat! Now she needed something else since there wasn't enough time to wash this stupid thing! Oh well...she had back up outfits in her suite here.
That's right this girl did NOT like the idea of changing in a public bathroom...how degrading that would be! Letting out an annoyed huff, she couldn't help but mutter "I really need a sundae..." Flinging the pink and blue dress right into a nearby trashcan while closing her eyes, one of the men pushed their ear pieces and began to mumble something as though he was under some major pressure. Not really paying much mind to it with a slight shrug before putting her hands upon her hips. Tilting her head up while staring at the elegant Chinese artwork upon the ceiling, now what in the world was she going to wear? Well a better question was what did she have to pick from here? There was her Chinese hanfu dress...it was probably a better choice since she could sneak quite a few back-up weapons in there...
"Miss Chao, it seems your honored guest is causing some wonderful patrons a bit of concern. What should we do?" Interrupting her thoughts all professional-like, she merely sneered in response before speaking in a tone that hinted off some edge to it, "TCH! That's one of the dumbest things I've heard all week! Ignore those not as rich as me fools and I'll handle the situation myself when I get there." After those words, the man actually looked a bit concerned and glanced over to his `pals` before replying with a respectfully straightforward, "Yes Miss Chao." Heading on into the gold and silver trimmed elevator while rhythmically tapping her fingers upon her hip and spinning on her heel cause dude...like hell she was going to use the stairs when there wasn't an emergency!
Being followed by her men, part of why she loved having so many body guards at places belonging to her family: She could hog an entire elevator! Such power was indeed a luxury the young mistress enjoyed. One of her bodyguards who was sipping on a cup of `to go` tea nearly choked as though something from his head set had WTF worthy news. Though the spunky as can be Bao Yu didn't bother asking nor inquiring... When they got up to the fifteenth floor, she walked on out of the elevator followed by the fancily dressed man ensuring her safety, walking down the halls where even the CARPETS had such lovely designs sewn into them, though if anyone could read Chinese...they'd see that there was a folklore story with matching art upon each floor. Most of the staff were the only ones who could really read it...yes mostly her family and their friends from China worked here behind the scenes while the fancy looking American types helped with the restaurant part. The ironic part of it all was most of the things on those thick menus weren't even Chinese...her grandfather had one hell of a strange sense of humor.
Go figure, but that was on her mother's side! Going up to her room which almost looked like a palace door, the men merely stood outside and waited for the young mistress to return. Closing up the door behind her, this room was just exquisite to say the VERY least. Not only was the furniture very oriental and pricey looking as though meant for royalty, but there was a medium large koi pond with a stone bridge going across. High maintenance? Yes it was but for such a rich family, that didn't really matter much at all. Plus as she walked across the little bridge passing by the large couch facing a wall which had a big screen TV complete with surround sound, the fishies couldn't help but peek their heads up a bit over the water between some of the white and pink water lilies to watch her wondering if she had munchies for them!
OH HOW THEY LOVED BREAD CRUMBS! Moving her hand lightly off of her hip to fan it a bit she mumbled, "Hold on, fellas...you'll get a little treat later, promise." ACTUALLY sounding sincere and a tad bit sweet, if any of the guards heard that they'd probably think hell was going through the worst ice age EVER. ANYWAY. Making the way to her room with a fancy bed that could fit about four people, also known as way too fricken big for one person, a little pig with panda styled color theme was nuzzled against the pillows napping...occasionally letting out a CUTE little squeal of sleepiness. Wandering to the bedside with a small smile, she pet her little piggy pal before turning to the walk-in closet concealed by a black and gold curtain. Swooshing it out of the way, it had a whole lot of outfits but we'll only focus on one, the very one she plucked up that had a cloth bag attached to it plus one of the suit cases. The base itself was white with faded bits of pink and the trim along the fanned out sleeves were a baby blue with silver butterfly designs. It would not only reach her feet but also cover a bit of her neck and had black under clothing which looked more along the lines of trim and be revealed as a portion of the dress where the white and pink fabric parted below the rosy sash trimmed with navy upon the waist.
Completing the sash itself was a braided white string tied into a lovely bow. Turning out of the walk-in closet to head on into the bathroom for that room since this spoiled girl had a two bedroom two bath suite...just in cause she actually needed to have a bodyguard stick around and make sure nothing bad happens to her at night as if it was even necessary. This bathroom...it was ridiculously fancy...instead of a normal sink it had a fountain. Yes. A fountain sink...lucky woman. The tub was ridiculously huge as though she could fit several people in it...kinda like a jacuzzi, save for the fact it had a lotus shaped shower head made of gold. Fancy bathroom was fancy indeed! ANYWAY She got herself all cleaned up from the werewolf fight and all prettied up with some concealed weapons for the JUST IN CASE scenario since for all she knew the sharkman Captain Mako would want to back stab her.
Yeah yeah helping people did have their odd moments of complete and utter messed up goodness where they were unappreciative buttholes. This sea creature guy seemed nice enough BUT HELL SHE NEVER COULD BE TOO CAREFUL! With a pair of thick chopstick styled ornaments sticking out of her hair buns complete with some silver and flower charms hanging off of them...if one were to look closely, it seemed like they could be opened up. Then again it could be the design carved into the hair picks. Sliding a white and silver lily hair clip to hold up her bangs a bit, she took her leave of the room and slid on a pair of black sandals before heading on over to where Mako was seated with her underlings following along after one of em' locked the room for her. Upon reaching the restaurant attached to the hotel, a worker took the liberty of taking her over to her guest's table...which...was....loaded with meat by now. Which caused LOTS of people to whisper, comment, and make little remarks while pointing their unworthy fingers and gazes toward them.
Narrowing her eyes now with light blue eye shadow to compliment her sapphire optics while speaking in a tone filled with high class annoyance at a volume loud enough for their peers to hear what she had to say, yet as though she was focusing her attention to one person...er...creature...at the moment. "Captain Mako, don't you think this place sounds like it's full of annoying little insects chirping on about some frivolous nonsense?" Saying those words polished off with a glare around the room while sliding up her sleeves to her elbows and taking a seat opposite of him before lightly fanning her hand to shoo away the guards so they could do something useful..."Feed my fish, boys. They wish for something to snack on as well...get to it." AND SO THEY WENT TO CARE FOR THE FISH WHO HAD BIG ADORABLE EYES THAT ALMOST HINTED OFF THE WHOLE `WE WUVS YOU NOW GIVE US NOMz PLEASE` VIBE IN THEIR EYES! Letting out a soft sigh, she looked over to the waiter now bringing MORE meat dishes...and a large sundae which JUST fit in a spot in front of her.
Yes...yes a sundae was pre-ordered earlier on so she'd have it ready upon arriving. WHAT A LOVELY SIGHT THE DESSERT WAS! It even managed to make her lips curve out of a slight sneer and into a bit of a smile! Everything about it screamed NEAR perfection! Vanilla and chocolate chip ice cream drizzled with fudge sprinkled with cinnamon tortilla pieces complimented by honey walnuts. Let's not forget the three maraschino cherries upon the whip cream circled by snickerdoodle cookie crumbs! Setting her cloth napkin upon her lap before picking up the spoon which was long due to it being none other than a sundae spoon, Bao Yu spoke in a calm and casual fashion with hints of elegant `business as usual` toward her sharky companion, "Let's see...I didn't get to explain the details of my job and what you'll need to deal with back in the limo...should we start with that for now, Captain Mako? Or is there something else you want to ask me about first?"
Lightly taking a scoop of her sundae, making sure it had just a little bit of everything, save for a cherry, soon after she was done speaking. Might as well get the `explaining things` ball moving along!

The steak 'tartare' was the first thing brought out to Mako as he sat in the well decorated table. It was brought out quickly and with style. He nodded approvingly at it and was even happier when the booze was brought out. He grabbed the correct silverwear which he noticed caused the guards to raise eyebrows as he was guessing they were expecting him to use his fingertips, and went to work. Each piece of meat was deftly cut, the pieces punctured with a fork and with restraint placed in his mouth where it was chewed thoroughly before the next piece was placed in it. He had torn the top off the bottle near his hand and sure he drank straight from the bottle but he did with an odd amount of panache. Smiling and enjoying each bite of the tender meat he ignored the conversations around him as the next course was brought and the next but one thing he did not ignore... was the return of the Princess.
He didn't gape. His eyes didn't dilate but fore a moment he held still. His fork frozen halfway to his mouth, even his breathing froze. He gazed upon her his expression unreadable between his odd features and his blank black eyes. Slowly his grin widened more and he stood as she sat down and took his seat again after she took hers. He liked her style. As people talked about him in whispers and hushed tones she looked down on them in return as mere insects. He wouldn't have gone that far but he did find them dreadfully boring. But her... she was far from boring she was.... wonderful.... and had fish apparently. He would have to ask about that later. Right now he listened as she asked what he needed to know about.
"Well Princess I believe the prudent thing to do is first discuss the details of the job then I from their I can plan out what information will be most... needed. Also I can plan what I need to have with me on a given job. No sense being unprepared after all 'failing ta plan dis a plan 'or failure' so right now my plan is to sit here with a glorious meal and enjoy some beautiful company."
He raised an eyebrow as one of the body guards blushed and pointed at him with his fork.
"Not you."
The guard pouted.

Ok...this was odd, the way her bodyguards made it sound like this shark captain of sorts was being some form of `disruptive`, it seemed the other way around from the way he was eating like a civil gentleman with proper table manners. Geeze even in high society she was surrounded by IDIOTS! Though with the way he seemed to almost freeze in place not too long ago, the piggy empire girl couldn't help but wonder if he was alright or if the food wasn't to his tastes and she should just demand them to send in a cow carcass. But from further observation, it almost seemed like he was just shocked and/or delighted to see her with the way he stood up for a moment before taking his seat again. Especially with the way it seemed like his grin actually grew a bit upon her arrival...almost flattering since it seemed more genuine than the people she usually does business with. Then again this was politics as usual too in its own way save for the fact money wasn't the currency, food and entertainment was. Life was nothing more than an on-going exchange and treating it as such got her pretty far! Sliding the spoon into her mouth after speaking as though she was far too classy to SHORYUKEN TIGER UPPERCUT uppercut a creature of the night.
Listening carefully and intently to his response, it was quite nice to hear he planned on asking his questions accordingly based on the job description. Made her life a little more easier than having to answer a plethora of questions relating to things she'd much rather discuss after getting business out of the way. Certainly a good trait for someone who would be accompanying her quite often, would be annoying to have a guard who hadn't a clue how priorities worked! Awww and he thought she was beautiful! ....wait....what?! A soft pink tint graced her cheeks as she was caught off guard and then looked to her lackey who had to order all the food for dear ol' Captain Mako who seemed to think he was the one being complimented. Her slightly shocked looked transitioned into a `seriously?` sort of side glance toward the guy who dared call Captain Mako a thing. Though she turned her attention back toward her sharkman company and gently pulled the spoon out of her mouth before setting it down.
"It's good you plan on enjoying dinner...well I'll make this job description as uncomplicated as possible so that we won't spend the entire night going into detail on all the different creatures I tend to deal with. Basically, we will be looking into mundane scenarios like a lost cat when business is slow or even try to uncover a murderer so the victimized can have some sort of justice. In other worlds helping the police lighten their load. Then this is where things get get a bit complicated, sometimes those mundane cases become something far more serious and we end up looking into the paranormal side of life. Ghosts, ghouls, vampires, werecreatures, demons, magic users, Nessy the Loch Ness monster, swamp thing, big foot, the boogieman and those born with strange powers as a result of an abnormal genetic structure...or as we have grown to call them...metahumans. Such things generally fall under my jurisdiction...even creatures like you. Some mind their own business and I don't bother with them since I'm not getting reports of them being disruptive. Now the ones who cause problems or enough concern for someone to call on me, peasant or not, I look into it then decide the course of action from there. Like your case for example, I was contacted with details about you and since you didn't act like those filthy werewolves, here we are finding you a rare chance to have a career working with me. This evening, you witnessed both the good and bad of what I do for a living when dealing with the paranormal."
Picking up the spoon again before scooping up another spoonful of her delicious sundae, she flashed off a slight smirk as though she was proud of her crazy and extremely dangerous life...but just as the sundae lover was going to partake in another bite of delicious goodness...she felt like there was one more thing to mention... "I also make business deals on the side...but I'm not certain if you'll be accompanying me when such events arise or if I'll request you to do something more interesting. Those transactions can be rather dull...wouldn't want to breech our agreement by making you feel like you'd be bored to death." After those words, she let out a soft sigh and slid the spoon in her mouth....how she hated some of the business folks she had to deal with but that's what came with being a heiress. Dealing with pompous fools...as much as she preferred the rich life in comparison to that of a commoner, some of the wealthy people picked away at her nerves. A lot of em' she didn't mind at all but the stupid ones...oh the stupid ones really pissed her off no matter how big their bank account was! Oh but her guard who called Mako a thing and thought he got called beautiful and such looked over to one of the guards who was just chillin' and making sure all was well with a `Do you think I'm good company and nice to look at?` kinda gaze.
The guy next to him rolled his eyes as if to silently say `Get over it` in the background.

Mako processed what she was saying. He wasn't stupid though many thought his size would indicate otherwise. He sometimes tended to think things a bit slower on purpose to avoid running off in a direction that might tend to be... less then amusing. Looking at this from all sides he could see no downside. Every side promised a life full of interest that he used to only dream of. The fact he would be guarded an interesting and attractive woman was just extra bacon on the ham roast. Pursing his lips a bit as he finished thinking it over he nodded and smiled practically beaming as he held his arms straight out and laughed his brief... reverberating laugh his teeth clanking together a few times before he finished by taking a firm bite out of his meal... and through his fork unnoticed.
"My dear that sounds like the most fun I have had since the first time I got to the ocean. Every opportunity to explore this world from top to bottom."
Through great force of will he kept his head from tilting to look her up and down.
"In addition the chance to do some things I am very good at and made a living at from time to time. I don't see why this shouldn't be a very interesting relationship my dear Princess."
Mako leaned forward his eyes caressing her. He reached down to spear another piece of meat... and then his expression turned to a frown as he held up his empty, not to mention tineless and headless fork. He stared at it for a while reaching to tap the broken metal at it's tip and then looking around in brief confusion before his brain figured out what happened. He sighed theoretically and snapped his fingers loudly. A waiter soon found himself near the ancient shark man and starring at the fork handle handed to him as Mako gazed at him.
"Do me a favor lad, get me another fork of that type. I seemed to have enjoyed my meal a bit too much but..."
His gaze went back to Bao.
"I don't think a judge on the planet would blame me."
Mako gazed into her eyes while the waiter ran off and then furrowed his eyebrows such as they were.
"So tell me Princess knowing what you know now how would you deal with one like me if you had to. I know little of this world's tactics and knowing how one as smart as you would deal with me will help me figure out how to deal with what I might deal with in this job later on. If you follow."

A few tables away from them, a lady got all wide eyed and began to choke on her wine upon hearing the strange laughter and the man who appeared to be her husband began choking on a potato when he saw the freaky fish guy chomp on his fork cause that was SO not normal! As for Bao Yu, one of the crankiest females aiding the police department, she blinked a couple of times almost looking as though she was batting her lashes and took yet another bite of her delicious sundae of the day. At least he didn't tell her `OH HEEEEEEEEEEEELL NO` like some of the losers who wanted to APPLY for the job after getting the details or even a field test to see how well they could stand their own. Captain Mako though? Sounded like he actually looked forward to the crazy life where it could all end from a single wrong move. The stakes were extremely high yet he accepted them DELIGHTFULLY? This guy really was a pirate after all! ...so happy that he bit off a chunk of his fork.
Acquiring a bit of a blank look as though to be quietly saying `UH...you swallowed your fork...` then it eased up the a slight look of `...never mind` before taking another scoop of her sundae to snack on. It was actually nice to hear someone once every blue moon actually say that the job sounds fun and mean it, not just trying to get some good cash. The people who actually had fun earning their money are the ones she found to have more respect for in the business world since they were doing things the loved and enjoyed. Not so much the people who were purely in for the money then acted like a big ol' six pack of jerks...those were fun to underhandedly rip off though! Ah...business was a fun game for her though. Being on the same page was good, one thing at least everyone working for her could agree on was the traveling aspect of it was great. Sure, New York kept her pretty busy but there were times she had to go to other states and even out of state.
Oooo and a nice little bonus, it seemed like her tasks upon the path of life she chose weren't new to him and he had experience! ...and he thought their relationship would be interesting...he must of meant something like a business partnership. That's what people normally meant when discussing such things with her, no one would actually want to be her friend aside from her pets, namely Panda Pig. "It's a dangerous life but I will admit it keeps things far from dull and I'm always proving idiots of all social statuses wrong." Well that was odd, she actually sounded seriously delighted! Ah yes...the combo of a sundae and something she loved doing in life certainly did help melt away her edge. ...hey did he get closer?! A little skip of her heart beat took place once more trying to figure out WHY he cut the distance between them, even just a little bit. Quirking a brow and swiping her sundae as if she was actually some modern day princess before sliding the spoon into her mouth again like the sundae addict she is, Bao Yu was beginning to wonder why in the world he was staring at her. This happened every now and then but those borderline dead doll eyes of him didn't seem to pry her for money opportunities, like trying to figure out how much she was worth to a bank.
Oh for the love of her large accounts...he better not be looking at her as a snack! Eh...probably not...it seemed like he was content with the food up until he noticed his meat stabbing device...aka fork....was busted. Actually feeling a bit sorry for him in that moment he frowned, before she could so much as attempt gather the words to comfort him he had it handled. Great and even a bit nice to know that he wasn't begging her to `please oh please` deal with the waiters or something. That was definitely one hell of an annoying thing when people acted like waiters were these scary monsters....when most of them weren't. When his attention was back to her, she didn't know what in the world he was talking about when something about how a judge on the planet would blame him. Slowly pulling the silvery spoon out of her mouth realizing she just kinda froze there for a moment...how embarrassing.
Then again she did like to savor such delicacies...so it wasn't abnormal. So this whole eye contact thing...she wasn't too sure what to make of it since the thawed shark creature before her was a bit of an unpredictable mishmash. Not that it was a bad thing but she definitely wasn't used to being the slightly confused one....really the first time she bothered hiring let alone have dinner with a predator type who could easily view her as lunch. OH HO HO AND THE UNPREDICTABLE CONTINUED! He wanted to know HOW she'd handle something like him! Everything was best shown in a demonstration...and shaking things up a little for people she didn't quite care for aside from the fact that they were paying patrons at the moment. "Hn...I believe I'm following you just fine, Captain Mako."
Getting up from her chair, those deep blue optics locked onto those pitch black eyes before walking over to his side of the table then behind his seat as if to start a vanishing trick. Once getting herself in a blind spot, quickly she whipped around while reaching up, twisting her hair picks before pulling them up so fast that they merely looked like lines of silver to those who could see it themselves. That wasn't all though, she gracefully slid the sharp, rigid blades about two centimeters from his eyes and leaned forward to his ear while whispering like some sort of assassin willing to strike up business all while having their prey right where they want them. "Don't move. Your life isn't in danger right now but moving about would be dangerous. Now that's out of the way, I'll explain why you're in this situation. See, Captain Mako....I'd get you when you're most vulnerable and take out your eye sight making you far less of a threat. Possibly even ruin your sense of smell as well assuming such an option was available. Think of it as thoroughly blinding the opponent when you may not have the upper hand."
Whipping the saw-like blades away from his eyes at a safe distance as to not hurt him and sheathing them once more before continuing to speak in the same tone. "Next, I would find a way to secure you and then of course sent to my scientists...kept alive until I have all the information I want. History, genetic structure, and how different your organs are from a normal human's." Resting her hand upon his shoulder, giving it a light pat for a moment as though to quietly let him know she wasn't going to really harm him at this time before continuing on, "Wasting something of value isn't my style and ruining your eyes or anything for that matter would be a far cry from satisfactory but...when it's my life on the line...some sacrifices just have to be made. Especially since sharks are already dangerous predators without humanoid attributes." Narrowing her eyes slightly before moving her hand away from his shoulder to let out a soft sigh while speaking in her normal tone with a light hint of edge and sincerity, "You're on good terms with me so you don't need to be worried about me being your opponent in anything more than sparring, Captain Mako."
For now was dubbed in within her mind since she was so very used to being cautious with everyone possibly betraying her...aside from Panda Pig. Namely new members of her team who had yet to develop a set pattern of predictable nature in her mind. Of course some jaws were dropped while looking at the two like `WTF?!`. Starting to walk back over to her seat, she couldn't help but stop in her tracks and blurt out, "All of you look absolutely stupid with your mouths hanging open, close them before I have to close them for you." Talking with a sense of edgy authority, it seemed like no one was taking her lightly. SO A CHORUS OF JAWS SHUTTING RANG THROUGH THE ROOM! As with the glorious fork being carried by the waiter was happily on his way!
...and...for some reason...Bao Yu's arm started buzzing slightly...OH WHAT COULD IT BE?! For now she ignored it since getting Mako to understand her tactics and methods was quite important right now.

Mako was prepared for a long winded plan, maybe a plan of hide and seek or making him hurt himself... he had not been prepared for her hair ornaments to be turned into deadly weapons and stop so close to his eyes. His stopped in place. Barely moving, barely breathing as his smile took on a bit more frozen quality. He felt her breath on his ear as she explained what she would have done. It was on odd sensation, his spine was cold knowing she was fully capable of this act while the shoulder her hand was on burned with a warmth that threatened to spread through his whole body. While he wanted to move, to explode in action other parts were content to let her remain in the same position she currently was in so he settled listening and not moving till she pulled them back sharp blades of eye cutting and unfortunately went to her seat across from him. His grin slowly warmed up and spread farther then ever. A TRUELY interesting woman. He clapped his hands together hard the slap of air spilling out loud and ringing as the waiter brought forth the fork which he snatched from his fingers. He raised an eyebrow at the flinching waiter and at the buzzing sound coming from her wrist but shrugged. If she didn't want to bring it up then neither was he.
"My dear that was truly truly impressive. But... since we are working together I must admit that while blinding me and killing my nose would inDEED be good first steps my... unique body has a couple of extra... senses... I don't know all the science mumbo jumbo words but I can... smell.. for lack of a better word... more then just your perfume which might I add is a lovely fragrance. I can smell the waves of..."
Mako waved his beforked hand in the air searching for the word waving it faster and faster before stabbing the piece of meat he had tried to pick up earlier. This time the forking worked.
"Electuricity?... the stuff lightning is made of that you pump through your walls, your horseless carriages, through that object on your wrist but that is mostly covered up by your own lightning. It all creates and aura that I can... smell but without my nostrils. In addition I can actually form a sort of shape of the room by the flow of air. I do it better in water but in the air in is fine for five feet or so around me. Sorta like... air creates a shell I can 'feel' around you as you move. So vision is good... but I am less helpless then a human would be without it. Even in the deepest darkness of that fair ocean out there I am war from helpless dear Princess."
he continued whettling down on the food before him. He was not a fast eater but he eat well and like a tireless man wielding a sickle in a corn field he was getting it done. In addition to the wonderful food he could not remember a conversation he had enjoyed this much even before he got frozen in a block of ice with his teeth inches from his enemies throat. As for the concealed offer...
"Also my dear anytime you wish to spar I would be delighted to have a capable opponent such as yourself. It would be my honor. From what I have seen I would have far greater challenge then I would against your bodyguards. Oh I am sure you guards are fine in any social arena but... I suppose they do have a value of dispossibility as well as meat shields."
The body guards seemed to be getting uncomfortable with the conversation... Mako noticed it and enjoyed it.

Sitting back down as the jittery and TOTALLY shaken up waiter came to push in her chair, she turned her attention over to her new partner in crime who seemed quite content...maybe even happy with her demo. Then for a moment...her serious `business as usual` composure seemed to falter as if her heart reached up and decided to let her smile. It was the first time someone wasn't in complete and utter fear of working with her for doing that and...well it was actually a nice change of pace to actually feel like she may have a friend. Then snickering at how he snatched the fork earlier making it seem like the waiter wanted to have a mini heart attack. But as the thoughts of him being anything other than just someone who wants her money began to sink in...that's when the `logic` her father planted at a young age began to make itself present. No one would possibly be interested in her for anything other than money...she would get taken advantage of...weak if she let her guard down. Besides...she reminded himself that he was a pirate...pretty little words were always used to lower the guard of a pretty rich girl.
It was knowledge even a kid could comprehend. Turning her attention to the partially melting sundae...somehow it almost felt ironic...she wasn't quite sure why a melting sundae made her feel that way. Still...the compliments were a nice change of pace...even if they were probably nothing more than just flattering words with a bit of truth in them here and there. Interesting thing though, her smile seemed to transition into a look of genuine interest in regard to his explanation of those `extra senses` as he put it. But...the way he was explaining it, his sense of smell was extremely sensitive as she hypothesized...yet more than she expected. A slight tint of pink found its way to gracing her cheeks once more upon hearing the compliment on her perfume...he could smell that?! There wasn't even that much!
...oh wait...she did get quite close to him and it's not like she was too far away. Slightly tilting her gaze toward the cherry sliding down the sundae out of a small fit of nervousness squeezing at her heart...it was weird considering she was used to being bullet proof to this kinda flattery. "...thank you..." Managed to escape past her soft carnation colored lips in a way that was sincere and not a `kthxshaddapfoo.` fashion. Huh...maybe her small moments of feeling like this wasn't always a facade is because he was actually acting more genuine rather than most who were obvious all about the money and such? Genuine of a good actor...time would tell all as they had more time together....right? Well whatever...turning her attention back to Mako who was waving his fork in thought...she blinked a couple of times wondering what else he was trying to tell her.
THEN MEAT STABBYNESS COMPLETE WITH GREAT SUCCESS. Quirking a brow and feeling the corner of her mouth twitch to a slight frown making her look like she was silently saying `sooo you figured it out?`while listening to him continue on. All in all....he not only provided good information on how to handle him if he decided to betray her...but also how he could be of extremely great use to furthering her goals in life. Perfect....absolutely perfect....it was like everything was falling into place....a game of Tetris going PERFECTLY the way she wanted. Swiping at the tumbling cherry, catching it right upon her spoon to plop it into her mouth and tug off the stem. Heh...another ace up her sleeve...perfect! With their combined efforts, the amounts of foes she'd have to worry about dropped significantly. They would definitely become a duo worth fearing and from her lessons in life, it truly is best to be feared rather than loved.
Yes...fear is a powerful tool she wielded well enough on her own but now?! Well it was almost like she had twice more power than-wait...what the hell? He was actually willing to spar with her? Everyone in their right minds who knew what she was capable of and more so witnessing it for themselves first hand AVOIDED sparring with her trying to leave Carl and Ralph to help her train. Part of her wanted to ask if he was insane but he was a pirate and predator by nature, one who seeks and enjoys challenges. Clearly that was the case and she was in fact someone not to be overlooked in all around power. Combat and business, two formidable strengths.
Oddly enough...when he brought up something that she had a tendency to view her bodyguards as: meat shields. That's all they were good for at times, pretty pathetic. With a smirk of confidence and an edgy tone that hinted off a competitive nature to prove the world that she was the sort to win and not lose, the paranormal detective with a habit of hunting misbehaving creatures responded with "Heh...it seems like someone finally sees eye to eye with me about their use. Good help is so hard to find...sometimes they hide themselves even though I equip them with some of the best equipment this modern era has to offer. A bit ungrateful, but I forgive them most of the time. Shrugging slightly while letting out a soft sigh and closing her eyes...the buzz kept going off....some people just couldn't catch a hint! ...plus those who were her guards and still around were kinda fearing for their dear lives at this time....as they should.
"We'll be sure to spar sometime, Captain Mako. After all, I need to see for myself how well you are at combat on land. I must admit, you sound like a useful chess piece to have on my side of the board...much better than my pawns..." BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ went the communicator upon her wrist AGAIN AND AGAIN which caused a frown manifested from sheer annoyance to replace her smirk while letting out a disappointed huff. Hell, even her tone was back to `hey I'm a business woman who is busy and you better not piss me off or the consequences will be dire` style! "I'm sorry...but would you excuse me? I seem to have a call...it's either important or a waste of my time." The gaze she shared with him upon making eye contact was almost pleading...probably because she was reaching her wit's end with the caller being so persistent and not leaving a message.
BUT THE BUZZING....it just kept going like the damn energizer bunny! FOR THE LOVE OF GOOD CREDIT! WHAT THE HELL COULD BE SO DAMN IMPORTANT?! Getting up, the girl with one hell of a fiery personality opted to take the call poking at the button seeing that it was her grandfather....but before he could get a word in, everybody holding something just dropped their forks at the sound of the tone used as though their lives were in grave danger while she spoke venomously to the older man hologram who looked like some sort of `Godfather` figure. "What in the name of my big bank account is SO important that you can't leave a message?!" Walking out the restaurant area with those words to the outside area...she stood at upon the cement and looked FAR from happy. "Bao Yu, this is URGENT. So I'll cut to the chase...your dinner guest has a remarkable resemblance to a monster pirate that caused A LOT of trouble for one of your ancestors on your father's side of the family."
"Tch! You're just saying that because you want me to kill him out of honor and you've never been very fond of making my hobby into a career...in fact I'm sure you wish I was just a hunter rather than try to understand the paranormal things in this world." Narrowing her eyes while trying to keep her cool, it seemed like the old man had more to say... "Tell me granddaughter, does this story sound familiar? Once upon a time there was a fearsome pirate who was truly a monster...they called him the Jovial Devil. Do you know what kind of monster he was, Bao Yu?" As if to give the hologram of the older man eye to eye contact...it was all coming back to her... "...a...shark...or a shark demon is what they thought the pirate was. It really varied on who told the story...
Saying those words as if it was serious business...yet at the same time like she wanted to play stupid for a change. "Correct. This monster stole from your ancestors...more importantly one of your great grandfathers who paved the way for your father's side of the family, one of their ships full of product to sell after traveling for days. It impacted the family a great deal and they struggled to make ends meat where they were. Remember what the Jovial Devil's shipmates called him?" Standing there with a look of sheer frustration...she wanted to be proven wrong and hope that even though the evidence was piling up that it was going to be some other `Jovial Devil` when she bitterly replied, "Enlighten me, grandfather." "Captain Mako, if your guest is that same monster...can you really let him get away with that? More importantly having history repeat itself, he'll dupe you next, Bao Yu. Remember what your father said, no one can possibly be friends with people like us, it's all about business and how much we can offer them. With a pirate, especially one that already stole from your family, you'll be robbed blind as soon as you let your guard down. You can't trust things like him..."
Gritting her teeth, she hated it...all those flashbacks of the stories she was told as a child and variations of that very one due to how much of an impact it made. Honor on the line and now having to figure out what to do about it. The old coot had very valid points...ones she couldn't ignore...but it made her blood boil when he kept calling him a monster and thing. "Tch...you really think I thought of him as a friend?! Such an amusing joke...I don't have any friends remotely close to human, you know this. It's all business, a damn good deal so to speak. I know the only friends I have in this money operated world are my pets...and I know that all of our employees would leave us without money. I'm not as incompetent as you may think grandfather. The situation will be placed under control and I'll regain a sense of honor for our family, just never call him a monster or thing again...it really pisses me off when ANYONE starts trash talking those I choose to employ! As long as Captain Mako works for me and doesn't breech our agreement, you are to give him a little more respect because after tonight honor will be restored to my ancestors. I have to go and clean up an ancient mess now."
Those words passed her lips with quite a bit of edge yet respect here and there before she disconnected the call.
"Miss Olivia! Do you think I'll meet that pirate monster guy one day? Maybe I could find out if he's a bad man or not!" The maid couldn't help but let out a chuckle before fussing with the little girl's hair while cooing out to the enthusiastic girl, "No sweetie, he's long gone by now. That was about three hundred years ago. No one lives that long, I'm afraid and even if he was, he might try to gobble you up! Scooping the young little Bao Yu for a sneak tickle attack, the child squealed and laughed flailing and kicking before scampering away to grab the book. Turning the pages, she stopped on them with a big ol' smile and look of determination while pointing over at the grinning shark man. Flipping through pointing at each bit of art they had on this particular story, she held up the book waddling a bit since it was one of the many thick volumes. "I think I'd be ok, Miss Olivia! Look look, he's ALWAYS smiling! Someone, even a monster who smiles that much can't be too hard to negotiate with! Smiles mean happiness, don't they?" Chuckling a bit at the little girl's theory, she shook her head and took the book. "Remember what your father said, always be on your toes. Now let's find another book..." Taking the book from her small hands, littly itty bitty Bao Yu pouted puffing her cheeks a bit before putting her hands on her hips, "HMPH! I still think I'd be ok! Just watch, I'll be successful with myyyyy choices one day and...and it'll be cool!" Grumpily following after her maid, she got ready for the next story to catch up on important history facts about her family.
...maybe the pig empire heiress wasn't wrong back then or now....or maybe she was dead wrong and getting duped from the get-go. Dropping her hands to her sides, her sapphire optics peered up at the stars above for a moment as though looking for some kind of solace in all of this. A miraculous discovery that messed with her family in the past...how ironic, maybe even fitting. Doing nothing was NOT an option...that's when it dawned on her: A spar with a twist! Get some revenge and then still have him alive and working for her...after all he DID say she could spar him anytime. Plus since she knew her grandfather would have cameras trained on them in everywhere but the room considering this was his resort...he'd see she was fully capable of dealing with restoring honor to a damn good degree. This would combine two things she excelled at a good majority of the time...making an interesting deal and combat.
Did she head back in right away? No...not yet...she needed a moment to come up with a strategy or at least part of one to go off of so she wouldn't be using her knives. In fact, some of her guards were wondering what was taking their bosslady so long. Normally calls didn't go on for that long....and they knew she was way too prideful to ask for help a lot of the time considering she never wanted to be viewed as helpless. Oh boy and the times they checked to make sure all was well, most of it was full of `IDIOTS! I'M FINE SO STOP FUSSING!`...hmmm maybe they would wait or check on her anyway. Bao Yu did have a pride issue after all and the sort of person who would pop a dislocated shoulder into place claiming nothing was wrong....

Mako had nodded politely as the Princess had gone off to answer her wrist. It was wonderful the tech that back in his home era he would never have even dreamed of after drinking a keg of absinthe like he had that one time. Thinking back on it the little green women had been cute but were not worth the rest of what he saw. He was just content to listen and learn of this world... but as he continued to eat his way through the table he could hear the voices at the edge of hearing. The usual tunes he had heard even in the most welcoming of places. Some words popped out more then others because of how used he was to them. Words like 'monster' 'abomination' 'demon' so many he had heard again and again for as long as he could remember. His smile slipping a bit as he listened. He was so glad he hadn't tried his first plan. Bao was the first person in a long time that hadn't looked at him with fear or hatred at first sight.
As the meat vanished down his stomach and all but one of the bottles of booze was empty he looked around and realized that Bao was still not back. He looked at the guards who looked calm without nervousness, so he put it most likely that she hadn't called in reinforcements while leaving the current squad to die... most likely. Instead it seemed her... 'call' was taking a while. At least he hoped that was all it was. Ripping the cap off the final bottle Mako walked past the guards and started heading towards the door waving them off as they started to go with him. He exited just to hear himself be both torn down as not a friend and defended in the same rant. He blinked at that she was such a very odd woman. Quieter then most would guess as she stood raging. She was tense, angry, somewhat violent. He could cough to announce himself, speak to her... but none of that would be interesting...
Grinning from ear to ear as only he could he stepped in quickly behind her and bent slightly so his arms could wrap around her. Pinning her arms to her sides as their length allowed them to wrap around her completely... and keeping those arms from those knives. He rested his head on top of hers as he spoke.
"Dear Princess you can't let the little things get you down... now langauge like that is not needed, I promise to let you go as soon as you calm yourself down. Your grandfather doesn't understand me and you should. He thinks I am here for money. If I wanted money I would find one of the carriages you use to haul money and chew through the roof of it. I could do that, I have done that. If I wanted power I would form these pathetic gangs into a force unlike this city has ever seen..."
Mako let her go while spinning her so she stopped facing him. e stooped till they were eye to eye and brought up one hand to cup her chin.
"My reasons for being here are because well for one. You interest me. Unlike those fat worthless nobles you don't look at me like an object, a monster, a worthless being. You sit there and would stab me if you thought I needed it. Would fight me if you thought it was required. All that without hesitation. How could I NOT be interested in you?"
Drawing his hand back and tilting his head to the side he regarded her.
"Your grandfather is right though. I am a monster by most standards. Not just in body but in mind. I will do anything to achieve my goals. I have killed and will kill again, I have robbed and might do that again, I have eaten human flesh but... plan not to do that again. It tastes pretty bad actually.. but for the record. I have never raped. Tasteless and worthless people rape. No woman I am interested in would be weak enough to allow it so it never happened and never will. So tell me, knowing what you know. Does anything change?"

Well those bodyguards decided it was best to listen to the creature that could quite literally bite their heads off. In fact, not too long after the call on Bao Yu's side ended...that's when one of the guards got a call. This one's name was Greg! Greg was part of this family's crazy shenanigans for a long enough time to know how things operated. Listen to hierarchy and nothing bad will happen to you of course! Pushing down on the button for his ear piece and listen to the girl's grandfather give him some orders and it went something like this "Greg, you have to stop that monster before he gets to Bao Yu. Can you im-" "With all due respect, I don't think it's wise for me or anyone else aside from the young mistress to deal with him even if he does act out. Then let's take a look at the facts, he hasn't done anything out of line so far and has yet to bring your granddaughter any harm. I'll be waiting for further instructions from my boss."
Disconnecting the call before getting ranted at, he simply took out his handgun and began polishing it. Stupid smudges...! ALRIGHT so back to Ms. Stargazer outside trying to sort out some sort of strategy. So far she figured out a spar with a wager that w-SOMETHING WAS HOLDING HER! Narrowing her eyes, she hissed out in what could easily be classified as dangerously vicious. "Whoever the hell you are, let me go or pay the consequences...tonight is not a good time to mess with me..." Shifting her gaze to see her captors arms while trying to get herself free of the embrace from this bast-....Captain Mako?!
OH WHAT THE HELL WAS GOING ON HERE?! Next was feeling his chin upon her head and that caused her eyes to widen....oh for the love of all her wealth...he probably heard some of the conversation! NOW SHE WAS GOING TO DIE WASN'T SHE?! "Damn it...!" Were the two golden words of choice while trying to get herself free but not succeeding...then it seemed like he had something to tell her...geeze why didn't he just take a normal approach?! ...oh right he mentioned he liked life being interesting...durrrrr. Why was he being so nice to her...right..use her like a sponge. Tears actually began to weld up in her eyes when she thought about that...the embrace wasn't intended to hurt her...just keep her still...that much she could tell via common sense.
What was so wrong with being constantly wrung out? That was...normal...at least for her...yet the thought of it hurt a tad bit for a change. Promises...did pirates even keep those....last she could recall they weren't always men of their word. What the hell...? Why did her cheeks feel damp? Continuing to listen almost in a state shock, she wasn't sure what to think...being held and talked to nicely by someone who could very well kill her but wasn't...especially since he clearly heard a crucial part of the conversation. Sure...she was trying to understand him and it really didn't seem like he wanted her money so far...but there were too many times where she had been wrong about that. Now here they were with her heart feeling like it was getting some sort of static electric pop of warmth from the cold nature it had grown used to and in his arms for some reason or another...probably so that she wouldn't try killing him.
Was he actually being honest about how he'd steal money if he really wanted it? Seemed to be so...then on about power and how he'd easily take over gangs and make them something to worry about. If he was capable of doing all these things, then why bother with her? Just because she piqued his interest, seriously? Upon being released, part of her wanted to say something, anything but her words were stuck in her throat. Slowly bringing up her hands, she stopped before her palms got get passed her hips feeling herself being spun. OH CRAP HER GUARD WAS DOWN!
Instead of worrying about wiping away her own tears which she wasn't going to try and solve the mystery for now, the paranormal investigator who had a knack for killing what she researched was about to reach for one of her other concealed weapons but froze in place with a slight look of shock when his hand was cupping her chin. What was he doing?! OK WAIT THAT WAS OBVIOUS! Better question...WHY?! Blinking a couple of times with a frown that looked like she was...well...kinda confused by everything going on. Not that she was scared but simply in a `WTF` moment. Her heart skipped a beat and a soft little blush came on her cheeks...ok why did that keep happening? Seriously...her face wasn't usually on the warm side...awkwaaard.
Mentally trying to prepare herself for a sneak attack of some kind, she continued to listen with her hands at her sides....being violent...wasn't going to answer let alone solve anything right now. That's what it felt like anyway...or at least that's what it seemed like her brain...or heart...or whatever was trying to tell her. Those tears though...why didn't they stop? Why did they keep going as he kept being what seemed to be sincere? It's not like she was whimpering or anything....just silently crying and staring at him like a chunk of the stone wall she built around her heart years ago was cracking and trying to remember what this unfamiliar warmth was. All his reasons linked to being interested in her....but...people didn't like her...they liked her money so why was someone who stole from her family the only one not getting a paycheck complimenting her? Even the fact that she would deal with him through brute force was part of the reason for him joining AND staying with her starting tonight!
A trick...this had to be...but...it wasn't...? Guh...it was all so confusing...then a twinge of something that...she couldn't quite decipher struck her heart when he moved his hand away then got to eye level with her. This was so pathetic...this was not how she planned on bringing honor to her family...hell her ancestors were probably rolling in their graves and facepalming in the afterlife! Great...now he was telling her that dear ol' grandfather was right about him...that clinched it...he was being brutally honest. A monster by most standards....criminal actions....save for rape...at least he found that to be tasteless. Last thing she needed was to `defend her honor` by keeping a rapist under the same roof as her. Though the last part of it almost made it sound like his interest was gearing toward making her his....what was that word...that word that wasn't applied to her at all....girlfriend?
Yeah...whatever, she opted to act like she didn't quite hear it like that since THAT was obviously like a bear trap waiting to clamp on her ankle! Taking a short moment to briskly wipe away her tears with the back of her hand, the girl who was usually all about business sorted out her words soon after weighing out all the options laying right there before her...."It doesn't change that you dishonored my family about three hundred years ago and how much they struggled when you stole their ship...none of that can be changed." Narrowing those slightly glistening deep blue optics of hers after speaking in a stern tone with that usual slight edge. At least those damn tears finally stopped. Yet when she continued, it seemed like her edge softened to insinuate a sense of understanding, "I still have no intention of killing you or going against my word unless you breech our agreement. The only thing that has changed is...you're not interested in my money like everyone else..." Aw damn it...never mind the ninja water works came back...but she did her best to maintain eye contact.
Looking away would be an even bigger sign of weakness...right? "...but you're interested in who I am and the life I chose. For all I know if you really need money you'll just steal from someone else since you know that stealing from my family in this day and age would breech our agreement and I would be your enemy. From what you've been telling me, that doesn't sound like something you want and will avoid." A lovely heavy sigh passed her lips as she grabbed at the sides of her dress looking almost a little annoyed yet...somehow relieved...woah was that a bit of nervousness showing itself in an underhanded fashion?! "Am I correct, Captain Mako?" Oh yes...she still sounded a bit professional, stern...yet...there was a small fraction gentleness laced within her tone.
Funny thing is, she really didn't give two craps about him stealing and killing as long as it wasn't in relation to her family again...yet it's not like she was going to encourage it. Aaaand the guards were wondering why the crap they were taking so long...oh whatever they didn't hear any shrieks of horror so it didn't worry them that much.

Mako listened to her tears as he held her. watched them glisten down her face as he watched her. He didn't comment on them, didn't let it show he saw them. He had no pity in his face for she would abhor it, did not show sadness at her tears for she would reject that. Instead he just kept the smile on his face as normal as she told him how she felt. He defiantly did not remark on how cute she looked when she blushed uncertainly.
True as she had said he had robbed them not that he felt any guilt about that. It would be like asking a farmer to find guilt in the dark recesses of his heart for harvesting a crop. To him it had been making a living... plus he had enjoyed piracy. It was profitable and interesting... but this new life seemed to be promising to rend all previous definitions of interesting and throw them to the wind laughing as it wore it's underwear on it's head. He reached into the remnants of his coat and pulled out a handkerchief that was lodged in there and tsking a bit reached forward and wiped the running makeup off Bao's face chuckling as she vented at him.
"Oh do hush Princess we can't have you facing the rabble looking streaky. It wouldn't do at all."
Leaning back to look from a few angles he nodded and tossed the messy piece of cloth down to the ground as he regarded her.
"I will not apologize for the past business. Pirate. I was doing what I do. I do promise that while I work for you I will never steal from you. I also promise I have never and will never lie to you my Dear Princess."
He leaned forward conspiratorially and whispered his breath in her ear.
"Lying is just so tedious. Having to remember all your lies, keep it all straight, build a tapestry of lies that in the end unravel it is just tedious. So I try not to lie. It sets me apart from most and telling the truth is so much more interesting. Besides people seldom believe a shark for reason."
Leaning back Mako stuck his hands in his tattered pants. His black eyes gleaming in the artificial light.
"So what are our plans for the rest of the day Princess Chaos?"

So many questions were flooding her head through all of this it was almost illogical yet it wasn't! Didn't make a lick of sense yet it did....what the hell was going on?! Feeling like she was on the verge of going insane, she wanted to scream, act out, something anything! ...and...now he was trying to wipe her face?! OH THOSE STUPID TEARS! They ruined what little bit of make-up she put on to match this outfit! "Wh-what the hell do you think you're doing, Captain Mako?! This isn't even in your job description!"
Snapping out those words in sheer retort to his actions since violence and cruelty was what she knew best. Kindness and caring...not so much even though she could very well do those two things on occasion in her own way. Besides it was confusing as crap with glitter on it to have someone she didn't know all that well being so nice to her and NOT want to rob her blind! OH! AND HE WAS CHUCKLING AT HER?! SHE KNEW IT! He was taunting her with this nice act, wasn't he?! About to bust out the plethora of Chinese profanities to see if THAT would get him to stop, it seemed like he actually had something to say...which...got her to shut her trap and listen.
Glaring at him with a bit of a pout...crossed with a slight sneer, why in the world DID he give two craps about her appearance to those wealthy insects?! Just being interesting didn't quite make much sense to her on its own to get her special treatment. With her eyebrow popping up to a quirked position while frowning in a bit of confusion. Seriously...this was so far out of her norm. The last brown noser she dealt with wasn't even this nice...then again they were a kiss ass piece of filth in her opinion. ....he...even...inspected....her....appearance to make sure everything was cleaned up properly....why the hell did he care so much?! Part of her wanted to ask him yet part of her just figured he'd answer with something like `I ALREADY SAID YOU'RE INTERESTING GEEZE WOMAN!` so for now she just wouldn't bother and save herself the trouble.
Plus when he spoke again, it seemed like there was something far more important to concern herself with. The very least she wanted was an apology for his actions in the past, that's it, that's all! Getting a genuine apology from a pirate would be one hell of an accomplishment...that would be enough for her to feel like a sense of honor was restored hand in hand with him working for her. BUT NOOOOOOO! At least he promised not to steal from her while under her command...good but not good enough to change her mind about a spar with stakes. ...even though he promised not to lie to her...nope it didn't restore her ancestor's honor at all...they were still disgraced with no remorse. Woooaaah wait...why was he getting closer?! DAMN AGAIN WITH THE LIGHT BLUSHING!
Except this time it was when he was whispering to her. Honestly it was KIND OF nerve wracking to have a guy who had a mouth like a bear trap blender shark or something THIS close to her face. So what if he was being nice?! This guy was part species of something chilling high up on the food chain which in this case she was lower on. The reasons for being honest made a lot of sense at least...so many stories to keep track of WAS tedious. It was something she knew about first hand almost all too well in the game of business. Though...it was quite interesting how he found the truth to be more intriguing....well that was more food for thought.
Quite a few valid points...even that shark comment...hm. Looked like he was done with that and even wanted to know what they'd do for the rest of the day. Oh she knew the answer all too well to this one...it was even in conjunction with his previous statement... "Simple...now that you've got a real meal in your stomach...we'll get to talk for a moment while it settles. You can ask me questions about this brave new world you woke up in if you'd like." Speaking in her usual professional tone with a small touch of gentle edge, she actually took off the elegant Chinese hanfu dress to reveal a black vest with pink pinstripes and matching dress pants. Beneath the vest was a white collared blouse with the short sleeves rolled up and pinned with piggy pins which explained why there were no additional sleeves aside from that dress.
Strapped to her right leg with a holster was a Marushin M629 classic .44 Magnum Revolver loaded with six rounds. On her left leg there was a silver Gerber Mark II 6.875" double serrated blade which was securely sheathed. Tucked under her hot pink and black belt were a pair of gloves which looked like they had brass knuckles built in with the way there were ridges. Folding her dress up, she continued talking in that tone which was almost dangerously calm with the way she was equipped, "After a little chat, we're going to give those not-as-rich-as-me insects a show of sorts. With a wager of course...you win, you can start off as my right hand man then decide if we call it a night or travel around a bit more before returning here. On the other hand, if I win our little match...well...I'll start you off as just a regular old bodyguard type and see how well you work your way from there then retire for the day and discuss a few things. I can't just stand here and do nothing about my ancestors' suffering even if you aren't my enemy...don't worry I won't be using any of my weapons aside from my gloves. I don't need to kill you, I have no real reason to end your life let alone try to even in the name of honor...."
Quickly pulling out the gloves from under her belt before tugging them on, securing it with a belt strap. Closing her fingers into a fist and stretching em' out on each hand making sure they were comfortable before continuing to speak while looking into his gleaming eyes. "However I do see it fit to let out a bit of steam for your actions toward the people who paved the path for me to have my life the way I want it to this very day. Pirate or not, I won't play pretend and act like my honor means nothing. I don't hate you, Captain Mako, in fact I like that you're on my side of the chess board and someone who isn't lying to me as if it's a requirement. I just have duties and responsibilities to my family. So I hope you understand." Taking the lotus clip out of her hair as well as the hair picks which concealed her knives of doom causing her layered shoulder length pink locks to fall out of their buns and lightly on her shoulders with those navy blue bangs covering her eye again.
Low and behold, she handed them over to him while continuing to speak, "This isn't a request, it's an order. Take these and hold onto them...after we're done I'll take them back or let you keep them. Now I suppose would be a good time to ask if you have any questions." Well...at least her head was finally getting a little more clear again....making wagers was something she was used to.

The offer to ask questions was one Mako had been waiting for all night. The urge to know about this would fizzled and sizzled in his soul. To learn, to conquer his ignorance... But this all went flat as he watched her... remove her dress? He blinked as the layer underneath was revealed.
"I... um..."
Mako was dazzled by the weapon on the woman before him as she removed her dress. He had only scratched the surface of the new weapons of this world. The small scale stuff he had found when walking the streets hadn't done anything to him but the potential. Weapons that used clips, or had little cylinders that spun to bring the next shot in place, and no packing or carrying loose gunpowder. It was amazing. Not to mention she had what seemed to amount to a hand cannon strapped to one leg and knives on the other. It was... exciting. Tingles flooded his spine as he looked at what the world had become while he was sleeping. He listened with half an ear as she talked, apparently her tone and scent indicated she was still irked about the past and he supposed the right thing would have been to apologize but... that just wasn't going to happen.
No only did she want to spar she was making a wager out of the whole thing? He wanted to clap he was so impressed she was truly not like any woman he had met in his days presharkcicle. She stood in front of a creature from who knows where, looked up at him and bet against him winning. He loved it! He loved this new world and all the people in it, the stupid and genius together. The shocked expression he had melted back to his signature grin. He took the offered weapons and stuck them in his pocket and then he spun in place his arms outstretched and then he looked to her, stooping and shaking a finger in disbelief.
"Really Miss? Really? You hold this out to me, offer me a spar, a wager, and then tell me I have to wait till I run out of questions? Dear Princess that is a bit cruel don't you think? No I don't think so."
Straightening he crossed his arms and shook his head vigorously. Water sprinkling outwards from his dripping hair. The straight black hair flapping a bit as his shook. Reaching up he pulled off his new 'vest' and folded it copying her style of folding absent-mindedly.
"What can I say, sometimes I want dessert first my little lotus blossom."
Mako held out a hand elegantly towards the little miss who had so captured his attention.
"By the way. I haven't been anything less then first mate since I was a child so you will excuse me if I might have to be a tad inelegant during out spar."

Eh? Was he actually shocked when she took off the top layer? Then again...she couldn't blame him and really didn't pay any mind to his short, confused babble. Besides, when he actually looked at the weapons and almost seemed to have this look of awe in his state of shock...in a way she sort of expected it since OBVIOUSLY he was from a different point in time. After all, he left his home in the past and had to deal with whatever the hell this future had in store for him. Ah...looks like he was back to grinning just as he grabbed her prized hair picks and lotus flower clip and plopped it into his pocket for safe keeping. Strangest thing though, he seemed HAPPY about this whole sparing thing before...tsking at her?! HEY...that...didn't...make much sense....at all....giving him a look of `wtf` as she slightly narrowed her eyes and rest one hand upon her hip letting the other rest at her side while listening to him.
Was he...did he call her cruel for offering the questions first and spar later?! Sharky McGee over here definitely had a few screws loose....most people would take that offer and drag out a conversation for as long as possible just to avoid a beat down! Why in the world was he so eager to fight her...? What the hell ever...she was going to give him a sample of what it feels like to cross her soon enough. Hold up....why was his hair still drenched? Right...he was always soaked for whatever reason...she'd really have to look into that later and figure out if there was any mystery to uncover with him about that or it was simply unexplainable. A natural phenomenon so to speak.
Errr......did he just fold his vest in the same way she folded her dress....? That only meant one thing....no using the same trick two times in a row and be sure to mix it up. His observation skills were probably pretty good thus leading him to be a quick learner of sorts. Now she had to anticipate her own techniques being used...fun stuff....fun...stuff. Then a little remark about how he wanted dessert first...and...called her his little lotus blossom....?! DAMN IT!!! A little heart skip of biku biku waku took place with a slit tint of pink gracing her cheeks...what the hell was his deal talking to like she was....that word. OH COME ON SHE HAD IT FIGURED OUT LAST TIME! The thing with endearment...uh...RIGHT.
GIRLFRIEND! He was talking to her like she was his girlfriend AGAIN! ....oh right...pirates had a history of that kinda behavior didn't they...great he was probably a huge flirt to all females. Clenching her hand into a tight fist at that thought...being treated like another piece of meat...for some reason that thought didn't make her happy...not at all...what did it matter if she was special or not?! ....his hand held out elegantly toward her while explaining something somewhat ironic...y'know that he wasn't so elegant in combat. Apparently being nothing less than first mate did that to pirates according to him. "Tch...eager to be on the receiving end of my punches, Captain Mako? Well....at least you sound like a challenge...always good to have on my team but tonight I'll see for myself how good you are at fighting on land. ....oh and I'm my own boss...have been for years...hasn't been easy either but I earned it and the respect I got with the title. Anyway if you want to hear about that, it'll have to wait. Follow me."
Sliding her hand down her hip to walk on through the doors LIKE A BOSS. Handed her dress on over to Greg LIKE A BOSS. Now it was about time to make an announcement....LIKE A BOSS. Snatching up a wine glass and spoon, she held it up before tapping it a couple of times speaking up in an authoritative, edgy tone, "Ladies and gentlemen, take a moment to shut up and listen! Tonight, you will have more than just music...but entertainment as well." Lowering the glass back onto the table along with the spoon, she snapped her fingers and the musicians looked over to the girl who no longer had her hair up in buns.
Fanning out her fingers for a moment, they then started playing a melody that sounded a little rockish that had an upbeat edge to it. Good enough! Giving them a thumbs up, she then walked toward the middle of the dining room. The guards went on ahead and helped migrate some of the patrons toward the exit...juuuust in case anyone wanted to run in fear. All of her guards knew too well how overkill she could get in a fight of any kind....even practice or training. Then there was the fact that she was oddly strong, being able to wield a pig launching cannon didn't exactly scream something a weak or average strength person could do. Side glaring at an area where she knew had a hidden camera while cracking her knuckles...it's almost like she was saying `Happy, geezer?` OH AND BY THE WAY.
GRANDPA WAS VERY HAPPY THAT HIS DAUGHTER WAS GOING TO TAKE SOME COURSE OF ACTION AGAINST THE SHARK MONSTER THING WHATEVER HE WAS. Not...so happy that he was being friendly to his granddaughter though....that made him hope she could get some REALLY good hits through at the very least...even better if she won in his opinion. "Place your bets, everyone...who will win? The sole heiress of the Chao family's legacy, Bao Yu or...the pirate shark man Captain Mako the legendary Jovial Devil? Whoever bets on the winner will get their meal paid for AND three nights free here at our five star resort!" The voice through the speakers was that of an older man...her grandfather. Oooo! Now other people were getting all into the betting scene and wanting to see this through!
A somewhat irritated sigh passed her lips while she tilted her body slightly to the side to face her opponent and new employee. Bringing her fists up with her knees slightly bent...she was prepping herself for some sort of attack to either counter or retaliate soon after saying, "Let's get this over with." Strange how she actually sounded a bit grumpy...yet...somehow civil...a little strange....juuuuuuust a little. Huh...well....normally she wasn't one to make the first move since that generally screwed with her strategy, she actually charged at him while narrowing her eyes like this was a SERIOUS fight rather than just a spar. One problem her guards found...even in spars...dealing with her was fairly intense and not fun at all. Bringing back her fist for a moment, she twisted her body slightly adding a bit more force to it along with a twist guiding her knuckles toward his ribs when aiming to slam her fist into her shiny new employee.
Keeping the other hand up to prep herself to block an attack of his own, she made sure to keep an eye on him so that it wasn't like being caught off guard would be easy. Due to the height issue...it wasn't a cake walk and decided to treat this spar of sorts like a battle with a werewolf or vampire. After all, her opponent seemed fast, strong, and was a hunter higher on the food chain than her. Now...how strong was her punch? Well for one she was the sort who could use the lovely magnum strapped to her leg without smacking herself in the face for two reasons: proper weapon usage and what applied to this moment, her strength. For a girl who could use a regular cannon strong enough to launch pigs, she did have quite a bit of strength to her. So much that if that punch were to hit a wall it would have a nice hole in it.
The gloves of choice would certainly help with making an impact combine with her freakish strength.

As the older voice bellowed through the building Mako waved his hand at a nearby guard. The man cautiously approached.
"Yeah I'd like a piece of that action. I bet on me can you take care of it?"
"... umm.. I... suppose so Sir... you know you don't really need to~"
Mako clacked his teeth together his smile a little forced.
"Yeah I know but see... I haven't even met that old fart yet and I dislike him. I know the Princess won't let me do anything... amusing to him so I can at least piss him off. Win win I would say."
"...indeed sir. I'll run off before she gets upset at me being here."
"You do that. Time to show her why I was the terror of the seven seas."
he shoed off the guard, one hand waving as one dismissing a too affectionate pet. He stood waiting, legs slightly apart, his hands shoved in his pocket and he waited to see what she would do, who this noble who truly believed in getting her hands dirty, so very different from the nobles of his time. So much stronger, smarter, better then the decklickers arranged at the sides watching the show. To him... this was the closest Mako ever thought he would get to the pearly gates of heaven after all why would God spend a second for one such as him. To most Mako would dismiss the question of what he was. The closest he thought possible was maybe the last member of one of the creatures Noah didn't put are the ark. One of God's abandoned creations. He didn't know, didn't really care because right here and now he was infront of a beautiful daring woman... in PANTS... surrounded by technology he couldn't comprehend and about to engage in a spar who fought monsters for a living. It overwhelmed him for a moment he couldn't help it.
As she exploded into action, as she rushed towards he couldn't help it his arms ripped from his pockets and stretched outwards, his head cracked back as he gazed at the ceiling and his smile was fixed on his face, a smile of pure joy. He gazed to the the heavens and screamed.
"THOUGH I MAY BE ONE OF YOUR DAMNED! I PRAISE YOU LORD!"
The joy was punctuated by a blow to the ribs, it echoed though his rib cage and a spike of agony went up his side. It was a familiar pain one he had experience before but never at the hands of a bare-handed human only by collateral damage or weapons in someone's hands. He lowered his arms his hand reaching out to the affected area as he looked down a bit stunned but still as happy. He prodded the area and looked at it with the curiosity of someone wondering why their leg just exploded.
"I think... yes. Yes I just had a rib cracked by a beautiful woman."
Mako looked up and regarded Bao with pleasant surprise. He looked at her standing there, ready for the next attack, her power was impressive, her speed was nothing to sneeze at and she was obviously a trained fighter unlike him who only had the blood soaked battle field experience.
"Did I tell you you look truly striking? You really do."
His opposite hand blurred and snatched at a nearby table lifting it up, he held it up by the middle wooden collumn and held it up effortlessly the table cloth and various food and drink falling to the floor as he hefted it.
"Fast, Strong, Smart, Beautiful... You know I never did ask... are you single?"
He rushed at her, table in front of him. Vision was useless... but to him sight was just one way to look at the world. He could practically smell how she was standing and the ability to sense her electric field came in handy. As he charged he swung down and jumped so the shiny waxed table top came in contact with the clean floor, his legs shot out and rest on it as momentum and speed slid the table across the floor. As he slid his hands darted out, grabbing chairs, forks, knives, anything he could reach and threw them at his target. It wasn't the most accurate barrage but it wasn't meant to be it was mostly to catch her eye as he hurled himself skyward. His rib screaming but who could be bothered with that with all the fun going on.
"I don't mean to be too bold but I just have to know."
His hands reached out and his claws hooked a hanging chandlier, the metal bending under his grip as he swung forward. The links of it were NOT meant to hold the weight of a seven foot tall shark man but it wasn't meant to as the table kept skipping across the floor. The chain seperated as he releashed while swinging forward and fell to crash, the glass and crystal shattering and spraying behind him as he hurtled feet first. Still flying after but above the flying table he still was able to call out.
"I literally can not remember a woman who has gotten my attention like you!"
