Cbox Name: Mantis
Nicknames: Meryl, Elle, MGS
Main Account: Mantis
Who else do you play?: Nobdy....yet (a wild cardboard box appears!)
How did you find us?: Michi!!! :3
Category: Games (Metal Gear Solid)
Name: Unknown
Alias: Psycho Mantis
Age: 30's
Ranking: Foxhound
Physical Appearance:
Personality: Mantis is a dangerously quiet man. He appears calm and unaffected when in his normal state, but will turn aggressive when provoked, or when he just feels like killing people.
Underneath his mask he hides the dangerous thoughts that lurk in the shallows of his mind. He can supress his murderous tendencies, but it's a question wether he wants to or not. He has some sence of morality, but he often chooses to ignore them.
Powers/Abilities:
Mantis is the self-proclaimed 'most powerful telekinetic, and psychokinesis in the world' His mind is a powerful weapon, that makes up for his fragile body structure.
He can read minds, see pasts and futures of people, and can levitate objects, from vases to cupboards, and throw them at enemies.
Mantis can also project illusions of himself, or others in an area of his liking.
Whenever he feels the need to make his presence known, he emits a mental music, a hymn if you like to call it that.
Equipment: His mask to shield him from the thoughts of people around him. He also uses a device that renders him invisible (property of FOXHOUND)
Psychological Flaws:
Mantis is so occupied with his own powers, he doesn't see that he might lose a battle, whether he can see in the future or not.
He also lacks social skills, and has almost no emotions, except for the everlasting rage that burns his entire mind which blinds him in the heat of battle.
Physical Flaws:
Mantis' body in one giant weakness. He can walk around like any other person can, but a single blow might knock him out immediately (if his opponents can get that far)
Other Flaws: Those port-switchers has always been a nuisance to him.....
Brief History:
Psycho Mantis began his path into mental power and instability at a very early age. His initial childhood in a rural Russian town was idyllic, until he used his 'gift' to dive into the mind of his father, and found to his horror that he was utterly hated.
Delving deeper into his father's mind, he discovered his father despised him. He then found out about the different facets of his conscience - inner demons that he could not shake- and voices began to threaten and cajole him. He unwittingly created an alternate mind inside his own called 'the Parasite'. This shock changed his personality...
The insuppressible feeling of despair within woke up his subconscious, which made him kill his father in a furious rage of crushing psychic energy. The mental shockwave emanating from him was powerful enough to kill his surrounding town, populated over 1000 people. Most died of brain hemorrhaging.
The KGB, impressed by his ESP abilities, took him in and trained him. He was moved into a dormitory school known for training former Soviet agents and psychic operatives since WWII. In order to prevent self destruction when his powers of ESP were utilized (as his focusing skills needed honing), he kept his other personality (the parasite) within himself.
He earned the nickname Mantis due to the mental parasite kept inside him. By mentally living together with such a single minded inner voice, somehow he managed to keep his reality in check and he stopped creeping into insanity, a problem that plagued many psychic agents.
To contain the parasite within, he wore restrictive attire, clothing that he said 'tied himself up'. A long trenchcoat was his uniform in the KGB, and he also found himself wearing this coat outside work, as it hid his emaciated form (an effect on his psychic channeling).
After his talent were controlled, he became a fully fledged psychic secret agent for the KGB. However, his career was short-lived, and he lost his position in the Soviet Union after the nation's collapse. He then moved to the U.S., displayed his talents and served in the FBI for a while. He was in charge of several cases there, mostly relating to the whereabouts of a victim's body after a murder.
He dove into the minds of serial-killers and ended up uniting himself with such minds (after seeing beyond the elemental threshold of a crime), the parasite within him urging him on to commit horrifying acts of psychic slaughter. He then became a freelance espionage agent before being offered a military role in FOXHOUND.
Reason for being on AM: Because I like it!
Sample RP:
It was getting dark outside. The wind was blowing up leafs from trees that seemed nowhere to be found. The sky was grey, and big threatening clouds gathered. A storm was coming.
Mantis preferred this kind of weather. It soothed him. Not that there was anything to soothe, after all, he didn't had a problem in the world.
The deformed breathing that emerged from his mask was still as slow and steady as always, as he watched people going by from the shadows. A slow chuckle broke the silence around him, as he prepared to cause some pain.
Since he left FOXHOUND to get a little breather, he had lost the last bit of moral senses he had, and was now causing havoc wherever he went. A mother and her child.... perfect. While sizing up the opportunity to mess with one of the two, he decided to go for the child. After all, the little girl could get over the loss of her mother while growing up....
With nothing more than a mere thought, the little child collapsed, blood pouring from her eyes, nose, mouth and ears. As the scream of the mother filled the streets, Mantis felt a deep sense of satisfaction. This was a good night....
