Buffy left the hotel she and the others stayed at and went on her daily patrol. Just as she did the night before and a night before that, so on and so forth. Buffy finished training the slayers for the day so she went patrolling right away. That was what she did every night in every place they they visited at. They just tried to protect innocent people and find evil as that what they did best. However, some of the slayers and Buffy's friends got jobs in every place they stayed at just so that they could afford it. She herself had n time or will to get a job so she just slayed and trained new slayers as well as she took care of her little sister Dawn.
Anyway, since the fight in Sunnydale she couldn't stop thinking of Spike and what a hero he was for risking his own life for her and the others. Buffy wished to see him again but she doubted that it was possible since he was dead and gone for good. Or so she thought since she saw nothing or heard nothing that could have made her think other wise. Yet, knowing that he actually cared to risk his own life made her respect and love him more. Yes she loved him before too but then she couldn't admit it but now she actually could as it didn't made her feel sick or anything like that.
Also she knew that she won't be able to tell him that or so she thought it still felt nice to admit it to herself again. Most of her group started to admire Spike even if not all which wasn't surprising for her at all. Buffy wondered if he heard her speak about him, wherever he was but she doubted as she didn't believe that it was possible for him since he was a vampire the day he sacrificed himself. Which made her think that he was no where at all, just gone for good because he became dust. At least that was what she herself saw anyway.

Spike stalked down the street, his hands stuffed in the pockets of his leather jacket. There was something about this night in particular that drew him out. NYC was a busy place, so a crime-fighting vampire's work was never done. But tonight seemed quiet and clear. Any other uneventful night, Spike would have went back to his crypt and watched some TV. Or else he would find some bar to pass the time in. But right now he was feeling restless. Like there was somewhere he had to be, and he didn't understand why. Spike didn't really believe in all that fate and destiny mumbo jumbo, but he didn't ignore his instincts when they told him something.
So he wandered around aimlessly, just observing the night life. Spike was starting to pay more attention to the people around him since meeting up with Anya, after all he could never be sure who he might find in this city. He had not seen much of his demon friend since their meeting in the alley. Anya seemed to want some time to herself, and although Spike could probably track her if he wanted to, he wasn't sure if he should. He wanted to catch up with his old friend, but he knew very well that sometimes Anya just liked to be left alone when something was bothering her. Spike would eventually meet up with her again, he was sure, but he wasn't too worried about her. She was stronger than she looked in more ways than one.
But after tonight, maybe Spike would have to rethink his cynical opinion on fate. Because what were the chances of running into not one, but two of the Scoobies here in New York? Spike would have said there was a better chance of Angel combing down his hair for once. And Buffy of all people was certainly someone that he never dreamed of hoping to see again. So when he caught a glimpse of the blonde across the street, Spike immediately assumed it was just one of those wanna-slay potentials. Probably a big fan of Buffy's, dressing up to play the part. But then he did a double take, and stopped in his tracks. As unbelievable as it seemed, as improbable as it was, he'd know that girl anywhere. There was no mistaking her.
Spike felt a swell of very un-Spike-like emotion. Spike wouldn't go as far as to say he'd never felt love before. As a human, he'd definitely felt something for Cecily. And he wouldn't of stayed with Drusilla those many years if he had not truly loved her. But Buffy was the only one who ever made Spike feel real. Like a man. Like a hero, almost, if Spike were sappy enough to think like that. Seeing her again, here and alive, had to rank in one of the happiest moments of his long life. But he still hesitated to approach her. Their last moment resonated with him.
"I love you..."
"No you don't. But thanks for sayin' it."
What was to say Buffy even wanted to see him now? She had her own separate life now. She didn't need a ragtag vampire making things more complicated. What was the point of pursuing something that could never be?Even as all these thoughts came to mind, Spike moved towards her. He stopped a few feet behind her, watching carefully. He still couldn't believe she was real...
"Buffy." He called a little gruffly. How were you supposed to greet the one person in the world that mattered to you more than anything? "....Long time, luv."

As she heard a familiar voice she jumped a little as it took her by surprise and then turn to face the person who spoke to her. She looked at the one that spoke in shock. "Spike? Is that you? It can't be, I saw you done and yet, you are right here. How can that be possible? I must be either imagining or I am dreaming. I saw you sacrifice y yourself. How is it possible for you to be here? You got burned by the sun to save us all" she said as she watched him closely and sighed. Buffy wasn't sure what to think, part of her thought that she was either dreaming or sleeping or even both but other part of her thought that it must be the first back again Which was why she after saying what she said just looked at him unsure of what to do or say next.
"Unless of course you are the first. I won't be surprised if that is the case since you can be anyone that died. Which surprises me you haven't became Spike a long time ago. What do you want now? Buffy said as she looked at him not saying anything else for now. It was all to strange and confusing but she had no doubt in her mind that it was Spike as it couldn't be him. She saw him became dust even so he didn't complete die when she left but she knew he wouldn't survive it because no vampire could no matter what.
It annoyed her that anyone would became the guy she loved just to taunt her but then again evil always annoyed her no matter what and now wasn't any different. Buffy was ready for anything that might happen next just as she always was or so she thought anyways. She wasn't going to let any evil win against her, after all she was the slayer and her job was to fight evil and win and that what she did when she could.
"You better leave, as I am not in the mood to fight you and your army but if you wanna fight I will give you some fight to worry about" she spat annoyed, clearly still not believing that it was Spike eve n if it spoke like him. Then again after all that she went through it wasn't surprising at all. She did wish to see Spike but after watching him do what he did she couldn't believe that he would survive it just as she doubted that someone or something would bring him back. Yes she did wish that it was possible, yet somehow she doubted that it was. Angel was different story as she send him elsewhere not killed him or watched him die so with him it was ;possible but not with Spike so.
It hurt her to see the first taking the form of Spike, she wished that it would just left her be. Then again she doubted that it would bu if it was the first then she wondered what did it came back so fast. It really made no sense to her at all. Buffy breathed deeply as she closed her eyes then opened them as she stared shocked and confused. Either she was dreaming or imagining or it really was the first that wanted to torture and annoy her.
"Are you just going to look and talk to me?" she asked not sure what to think as she went closer to 'it', without knowing that the guy she saw was really Spike. Buffy was confused too not only annoyed or hurt by that. It wasn't what she expected, at least not yet anyway. She bit her lower lip as too out her cross bow just in case but she hoped not to use it so. Buffy was going to use it if she had no other choice in the matter but she really wished not to come to that as it could get messy.

Buffy's disbelief led her to believe that he was The First Evil. Spike couldn't really blame her. What else was she supposed to think after watching him die? Though he hated to see her look at him with such spite, Spike felt a swell of pride. Buffy was doing the smart thing, and even though she was clearly cautious he could tell that she was just as clever, resourceful, and brave as she had always been. "Buffy..." Spike called her calmly, trying to get her to stop for a moment. But then she took out a crossbow, and Spike froze. "Now just a moment, slayer! If I was really The First, that wouldn't do much good against me now would it? But seeing as I'm not, I would really appreciate it if you pointed that thing somewhere else." He told her, certainly in no mood to be shot at.
Spike cautiously approached Buffy. He didn't want to alarm her and cause him to shoot at him, but he knew there was really only one way to convince her. The First was incapable of taking corporeal form, so hopefully making contact with her would rid her of any doubts. Slowly, Spike reached out and laid his hand over hers. "It's me, Buffy. I'm here." Spike murmured. He looked her in the eye, his own gaze clear. He he nothing to hide from her, and nothing to pretend. It was just him...and it was her. Like it had been before.
Spike cleared his throat awkwardly and drew his hand away to shove it in his pockets again. There was so much he wanted to tell her, but he figured that the last thing she probably needed was to be overwhelmed right now. "It was the amulet. There was something about the amulet, and it brought me back. It's a bit of a long story. But I'm here now..isn't that what matters?"
He watched Buffy carefully, suddenly curious about her. It seemed like a miracle that he would run into her here of all places. Maybe she was here with Anya? Spike thought that Anya would have told him if she knew Buffy was here, but then again the demon had left rather quickly the last time they met. So what was Buffy doing here? "So what brings you here, luv?" asked Spike, still trying to keep cool. There was still no way of knowing whether or not Buffy would even want to see him, even if he wasn't the first. "Where's the rest of the gang?"

Buffy watched him and she sighed not sure what to think. It was more then she could handle that was for sure. Buffy listened to him speak as she still wasn't sure which was one of the reasons she took out a crossbow. Just in case it was a shape shifter or something like it. Buffy listened to him speak as she wasn't sure what to think anymore then before that moment. It was true that the crossbow couldn't hurt the first but it could hurt a shape shifter or a demon so. Buffy did want it to be Spike but after watching him die and all she couldn't think anything else. "If you are not the first then who are you? Spike is dead I saw him die so nice try"
She watched him approach as she was confused as well as cautions. Buffy followed him with her eyes as she was ready to shoot if she needed to. She thought that he was either the first or a demon or anything like it. When he laid his hand on hers she looked at his hand not sure what to think. Part of her started to believe but other part of her tried to be more careful. Buffy looked at him and sighed. She wasn't to sure what to think. She really did want to believe but it was all very strange and new.
Buffy watched him move his hand away and put it in his pocket. She wanted to talk to Spike but she had no idea if it was Spike or a demon or something pretending to be him. After all Buffy went through to much so she tried to be careful. Even so she knew it was the first but that all she knew. Also his touch felt like Spike's touch. "Wait, Spike? Is it really you? The amulet? Are you sure? That is very strange and confusing"
Buffy looked at him as she noticed that he watched her too and sighed. If it was really Spike then it was rather amazing to say the least. Buffy looked around then back at him as she was shocked as well as confused. It was all unexpected to her but then again she was used to that as her life were that way. "I am staying here for a while now. What are you doing here? Wait, I still don't follow. How can that be even possible?" Buffy looked down then back at him as she lowered the crossword. "Around" was all she said now confused. Buffy then got an ideas as she looked around then at Spike. "I touched the fire and it freezes me" she sang as she looked in to his eyes.

Spike wanted to explain everything, but he wasn't sure if now was the place or time. Obviously Buffy was still cautious, and he couldn't really blame her. After all that she had been through, he would have been too in her shoes. But he still just couldn't walk away from her and forget this had ever happened, even if that was a lot easier than trying to convince her. Spike sighed and ran a hand over his head. If she really didn't believe him, there was nothing he could do but leave before she felt too threatened. But he wanted to try to get through to her one more time.
"Listen, I'm not even sure how it happened myself. All I know is, it's got sumthin' to do with that amulet dear ol' Angel gave us. Don't as me how it works. I'm not into all that mojo. All I know is that the pretty lil' necklace somehow captured my essence, and someone or something brought me back." Spike shook his head. He wasn't really interested in questioning the why of it all, he was just going to focus on the fact that he was back. And this time he wasnt going to screw things up.
When Buffy finally lowered the crossbow, Spike sighed. *Well at least that's something.* Somehow he could sense that she still wasn't fully convinced, though. She had to know he wasn't the First Evil since he was obviously corporeal. But maybe she thought he was something else. Some kind of imposter trying to mess with her. If that was the case, Spike tried to think of something to convince her..Something that only they would know..but that was exactly what Buffy was doing when she began to sing. Spike remembered the words from when Sunnydale was visited by the demon called Sweet, whose influence made the whole town sing and dance. It was a humiliating memory for Spike; he hated all that flashy stuff. And he almost refused to actually sing in front of Buffy again. But if that was what it would take to convince her, what choice did he have? She was one of the few people who he was actually willing to sacrifice his pride for.
"Bloody hell." Spike muttered almost inaudibly. If he was really going to do this, then it had better bloody work. He met Buffy's stare determinedly. "I died...so many years ago..." There, he did his part. Well that was a swell walk down memory lane. Question was, was it actually going to work?

Buffy watched him closely as she was so confused by the whole thing as well as worried and a bit scared not that she was going to admit it so but still. She just watched him and sighed as she was unsure of what to say or think. Sure Buffy did hope that it was Spike but she didn't think it was possible. She noticed that he didn't gave up which surprised her a little but it also made sense. Even if it was a demon or Spike they would still try to stay and convince her that they were really Spike. That knowledge however didn't help her at all, nor cheered her up at all.
"What do you mean? How can it be possible? I will hand it to ya, you are good at being Spike. The necklace? Are you saying it's magical? I know it wasn't Willow's doing or anyone else we know but if it's really you Spike then it makes no sense. The only ones who got that power are the powers that be and I don't think they would" Buffy was shocked by it all even so she still wasn't sure that it was Spike but gave him a break. She wanted to get a proof that it was him but if it was that it was very interesting that he was back.
When she finally lowered the crossbow she watched him closely not sure what should she think. The more time passed the more confused and shocked she became. Buffy wanted to believe it was Spike but after all she went through she couldn't know fore sure. Also he was corporeal there was still somethings that could go wrong. In fact as far as she was concerned there were a lots of things that didn't add up which made her worry even more. As she started to think she watched him as she waited to hear him. Buffy also wondered if he remembered what happened between them after the song. That is if it was really him of course.
Buffy watched him as she lifted an eyebrow and sighed. She noticed that he met her stare determinedly as she definitely was determined. After all she really did want to know for sure. Buffy listened to him him sing his part. "I looked in to it and it's black". She sang again. "This isn't real" she added. Buffy was getting more and more convinced that it was him. "But I just wanna feel"
