Name: Kharn
Alias: Kharn the Betrayer
Age: Unknown, age is in the thousands
Ranking: Villain
Physical Appearance:
Personality: Kharn is more or less an avatar of destruction- nothing more, nothing less. Caring only for the worship of his god, Khorne. And while Kharn is hardly a theologian, he understands the tenets that the blood good has laid out for him: Kill, Maim, Burn. Originally a philosophical captain of the World Eaters, a chapter in the military of the Impeirium of Man, after a large rebellion called the "Horus Heresy" took place, Kharn found himself following the World Eaters to madness in the worship of the blood god. Now, he is consumed with bloodlust, and just as likely to kill one of his allies as he is one of his enemies- and the blood god could not be happier.
Powers/Abilities: Khârn is one of the most deadly yet unstable melee fighters in the galaxy and he is just as likely to attack his own allies in a berserk fury as he is the enemy. Armed with a Plasma Pistol and his ancient chainaxe Gorechild, he is able to tear through armour, flesh and bone with ease. To emphasise that he is truly favoured by Khorne, he is subject to the Blessing of the Blood God, and as a result he is immune to the effects of psychic powers.
Equipment:
Gorechild
Massive and ancient; Gorechild is a chainaxe artifact from the time of the Great Crusade. Gorechild's jagged whirling teeth were torn from the jaws of Mica Dragons on Luther Mcintyre and its shaft is forged of adamantium. Even in the hands of an unskilled user (which Khârn is clearly not) the axe can split an armoured Space Marine from head to crotch. In the hands of the Betrayer, it can deliver devastating blows with deadly accuracy.
Plasma Pistol
Plasma Weapons operate by converting normal gases or other fuel materials into a highly-energized state of matter known as plasma, the constituent matter of the stars themselves. When fired, this fuel is energized into plasma and unleashed as brightly glowing "bolts" of pure energy. This energy is encased in a magnetic containment field that prevents the plasma "bolt" from dissipating before reaching its target. Once the plasma comes into contact with a solid material, the magnetic field ruptures, venting the superheated energy onto the target. The enemy is then vaporised. Plasma is incredibly dangerous stuff to deal with. Imperial versions of the weapon are particularly unstable due to their imperfect designs as a result of the Imperium's declining technology base. Overheating is prevented mainly by venting a plasma weapon's excess heat into the surrounding area due to a lack of proper cooling apparatus. Even with this countermeasure, it is not uncommon for plasma-based weapons to completely overheat or explode, killing or maiming the user.
Power Armour
Power Armour is an advanced form of combat armour, worn primarily by the Space Marines and the Chaos Space Marines. It is a completely enclosed suit of combat armour, composed of thick ceramite plates. The armour would be heavy and cumbersome to wear but for the electrically motivated fibre bundles within the armour that replicates the wearer's movement and enhances his strength beyond its already considerable superhuman baseline. However, it's joints and other such areas make it a prime target aganist melee combatants. It was also badly damaged in the recent crash, making it much more vulnerable, allow him to rely more on his scabbed skin.
Physical Flaws: While he is very fast and strong, his strategy is rather predictable, and he falls short of ranged combat, barely using his pistol. Joints in his armor make him fair game for melee weapons in close combat...if your not decapitated first. He also is rather un-dexterous for this new world- he is, after all, over 8ft tall. Infact, he is more or less condemned to his two weapons for the time being- at least until his other Bezerkers die. For an added bonus, attempting to see Kharn try and be stealthy is rather hilarious in a morbid and bloody kind of way.
Psychological Flaws: Blindly devoted to Khorne, Cares only for blood shed, cares not for whose blood he sheds
Other Flaws: Alien to this world, single-minded in his advance.
Brief History: Khârn the Betrayer is a member of the World Eaters Legion of Chaos Space Marines, and the greatest Champion of Khorne after the World Eaters Daemon Primarch Angron himself. He wields a chainaxe known as Gorechild (which, along with its twin Gorefather, was wielded by Angron himself during the Horus Heresy), rimmed with the teeth of a Mica Dragon. He is the avatar of Khorne, embodying the Blood God's indiscriminate rage and bloodlust. Like his World Eaters compatriots, his brain was re-wired as a Neophyte, so that he now finds joy only in killing the enemy. His love of killing is so great that Khârn has actually had a kill counter installed in the lenses of his helmet.
Before the Horus Heresy, Khârn was the Captain of the 8th Assault Company of the World Eaters Legion, and also served as the personal equerry to Angron - something of a "cool head" to his Primarch's bloody rages. Despite this, Khârn was known even before the Horus Heresy as a brilliant but unstable warrior. During the massacre on Istvaan III, Khârn was believed killed in action while fighting Captain Garviel Loken of the Luna Wolves, a Loyalist determined to stop Horus from attacking Terra by holding his former Legion from completing its massacre of its own Loyalists on that world. Khârn engaged in close combat with Loken, only to be thrown against the dozer blades of a nearby vehicle, impaling his chest. It was believed that the blow was fatal, but this has been proven wrong. During the Horus Heresy and culminating in the Siege of the Imperial Palace on Terra, Khârn was at the forefront of every assault made by the World Eaters. At the moment of the Heresy's defeat, Khârn already lay dead upon a mound of corpses before the walls of the Inner Palace. His fellow World Eaters carried his corpse away with them as they fought their way back to their ships. Once on board, they discovered that by some dark miracle of the Blood God Khârn still lived. Whether Khorne himself breathed life back into the Berzerker's body or whether the relentless clamour of battle revived his blood-lusting spirit remains a mystery, but since the Heresy Khârn has survived the bloodiest battles across ten millennia and has never come so close to death again.
At the Battle of Skalathrax, Khârn became both legendary and infamous amongst the warriors of his Legion. He slew in a berserk rage Emperor's Children and World Eaters alike, earning him the title the Betrayer, and shattered the Legion into the individual war bands it now consists of in the present. From then on, Khârn has become the unstoppable and bloody avatar of Khorne. After Skalathrax, Khârn hunted the Eye of Terror as the head of a World Eaters warband, slaughtering any worthy enough to be killed in Khorne's name. During the 13th Black Crusade his wrath was unleashed upon the Imperium of Man once more as Khârn joined a few of the most insane of the Khornate Berzerkers and battled the Emperor's warriors flocking to the defence of Cadia. After an embarrassing defeat, he was thrown into the demonic warp, and wound up in a parallel world, ripe for corruption and blood letting...however, Kharne only had 8 World Eaters left on his ship after it crashed on the Galapagos Islands. He has resolved to make the best of them while he cuts a bloody line though the world.
