Name: Dawn Summers
Alias: Dawnie. Lil'bit or nibblet by Spike. The Key.
Age: 18.
Ranking: Civilian.
Physical Appearance:
Personality: Dawn, or at times called Dawnie or Lil'bit by Spike, is a sweet girl. In school Dawn didn’t have many friends, though she often tries to make them. She tends to be shy, but also tries to fit in as much as she can. When she learned she was The Key, it changed her personality. She became depressed, and tried to hurt herself to see if she was even still human. She thought of herself as a freak and tried not to socialize much after that.
After a while though her personality changed and she was back to her good old self. Though she still tried to fit in with her friends and family, she still feels somewhat like an ‘outcast’.
Dawn likes to do her best, and in reality she enjoys fighting and helping her sister. She doesn’t like to give up, and try as she might, she’ll end up in trouble most of the time. She often hates having to be saved by her sister, but she's slowly becoming a more mature, independant woman that's trying to start a great life for herself instead of the whiny, incredibly stubborn girl she used to be. She still tends to be stubborn at times and hates it when she's ignored, or treated like someone who needs to be protected from everything.

Brief History:
Dawns life far extends the age she looks. Previously, Dawn was a magical being called The Key. A mystical green ball of living energy that had the power to open a portal linked to all dimensions. If the portal was ever opened, it would create chaos on earth as hell dimensions would flood into this world until the energy was used up and the portal closed once again. A group of Czech monks, the Order of Dagon, had possession of the key for awhile. They were its guardians. They wanted to put The Key to good use, but over time the forces of darkness tracked them down. One being a hell-god, Glory. Glory had been cast out of her dimension for being too vicious. With the use of The Key she planned on returning to it. But as Glory pounded at the doors of their location, the monks had been performing a ritual. It was a act of desperation but it was done. With the use of powerful magic, and a part of Buffy to be the basic construct, the monks transformed The Key. They gave The Key human form. The form of Dawn Summers. A fourteen year old girl sent to the Slayer as a sister for protection against Glory.
Dawn first showed up in Buffys life after her battle with Dracula. Buffy had already known who she was. The monks had imbuded artficial memories of her existance to everyone who had ever met Buffy and had gotten close enough to her. Only those "outside of reality" can see what she is. Meaning people such as the mentally insane. They see her as a bright green light.
Supposedly Dawn was born in 1986 to Joyce and Hank Summers in Los Angeles, California. She has knowledge of everything that has happened in Buffys past. Such as her being the slayer in L.A. Her fight with the Master. Her relationship with Angel and how Angel for a brief period of time became Angelus- something she hopes never comes back. She knows of it all.
Dawn didn't find out about her mystical origins till later on when she had snuck out with Spike to go to the Magic Box. Spike had been reading Gile's journal out-loud when Dawn heard the news. This news caused her to go into shock. She had even cut herself, burned all of her diaries and ran away from home. Buffy had assured her though that they were sisters, and things had gotten better for a little while. Calmer. But then her mother suddenly died from a brain aneurysm. This devastated Dawn. She almost used a spell to bring her back to life but she stopped it at the last moment.
When Glory found "The Key", she thinks it is Tara. But when she found out that it wasn't she sucked the sanity out of Tara. Dawn was forced into hiding with Spike. She admitted to him that she blamed herself for this. For everything. She was a "lightning rod" of pain, in her own words.
With Glory unsuccessful and still searching, things had quieted down. Until one day when Dawn, Buffy and Willow were with Tara. Glory had burst in breaking the wall, and Tara was suddenly describing Dawn as a "bright green light". Glory finally found her key. And after a long series of events Glory kidnapped her and tethered her atop of the tower that was built by the people Glory had mind sucked. At the time that everything was in place, Dawn was cut and her blood as it dripped down onto the pavement opened up the portal. Dimensions were spilling into eachother. It would become hell on earth.
Buffy had got up to the tower. Few words were exchanged. Dawn had been willing to sacrafice herself to save the world. But Buffy stopped her. Telling her that "the hardest thing to do in this world is to live in it". It was then that Buffy jumped off the towers bridge, sacraficing her own life to save the world.
After Buffys death, Dawns life spiraled downhill. She felt aboandoned, alone, like the others wanted her dead- thinking that she should have jumped off that tower that day, not Buffy. She had begun to steal. Starting with small items such as Anyas earings, it then turned into theft from stores and even The Magic Box itself.
This momentarily got better when she first spotted Buffy on the tower that day. She stopped her from jumping again and got her home. Dawn was overjoyed that her sister was back from the grave. But when Buffy started to be alone and quiet, Dawn retreated back into her klepto habits. She was stealing again. This led to the arrival of the demon Sweet. Sweet was a demon that was causing the town of Sunnydale to randomly burst into song, and when they got too 'hot' from dancing and singing, they'd self combust.
While Dawn was in her room, his minions kidnapped her and brought her to his hideout. He had wanted her to be his bride, but as it was then found out was that Xander was the one who used the spell. Sweet didn't want Xander as his bride, so he dropped the seplls effects and left. But not before Buffy, in song, had revealed that she had infact been in heaven, not a hell dimension like her friends had realized. This left the whole gang shocked, and horrified of what they'd done.
As time went on, Dawn experianced her first kiss on a Halloween night. Unfortunatly it was with a boy that was a vampire, one that had planned on turning her. As he leaned in to bite her, she was forced to stake him.
One night while out with Willow, having had a 'bonding' night, Willow had decided to take another route. One that led them straight to Racks. The redhead was increasingly addicted to the magics that Rack had to offer, and during one of their sessions, Willow had created a demon. One that attacked them while Dawn and Willow were on their way home from Racks. The car had crashed, Dawn was injured. And a furious Buffy along with Spike arrived at the scene helping the two. While Spike was taking Dawn with him to the E.R., Buffy had been confronting Willow about her addiction and she got her to stop.
Dawns feelings of aboandonment didn't stop there. They only increased. Her feeligns drew the vengance demon, Halfrek, to Sunnydale. When meeting with the new guidance counsoler, the vengance demon in disguise, Dawn accidentally made a wish wishing that everyone would stop leaving her. So when celebrating Buffys birthday at their house, anyone who entered the home could not leave. No one could even think about leaving. There was even a demon amongst them, one who fatally wounded one of their guests. Along with this discovery, Dawns klepto side was discovered along with her aboandonment issues.
The spell was eventually lifted by Halfrek herself, when Anya had called her best friend into the home and got her stuck inside as well. When everyone left, Dawn resolved that she'd return the items and try and be a better person. With the help of her friends.
Though even when she tried to do better, her life still got worse. Her sister and best friend were shot by Warren. Buffy had almost died and Tara was murdered. Besides Willow, Dawn was the first to find the Buffy. After finding it, Dawn sat in the room, crying and just staring in shock.
Buffy and Xander soon came, finding their dead friend then comforting Dawn. When the group discussed what they were going to do next, Dawn was all for killing Warren. This left Buffy shocked. But even Buffy protested to the idea, saying it was not their place to kill a human.
Willow did not follow that rule though. When the gang went after Willow who was now tracking Warren down for revenge, they found her. Warrenw was tied to a tree and Willow was black and veiny from the dark magics she had absorbed. Upon arriving, Willow flayed Warren alive in one fell sweep. She then left saying "one down, two to go".
Buffy managed to free Andrew and Jonathan from jail and help them escape Willow, getting them to The Magic Box. With Dawn, she then left to Racks only to find that Willow killed Rack and was waiting for them. Willow threatened to absorb the magic in Dawn, which would reduce her to nothing since she is made of magics. Buffy stopped her before she could do anything. But then the room started to spin...
The three were now in The Magic Box. Buffy and Willow started to fight. Dawn, Xander and the remaining members of the Trio fled the scene. But when the reached the cemetary in hopes of finding somewhere to hide, a fireball that Willow had summoned came out of nowhere and shattered into the ground. Breaking it and bringing Dawn down into the earth. Along with Buffy who had been running to the scene, she came in after Dawn.
While in the earth, Willow had conjured up demons for Buffy and Dawn to fight. It was here that Dawn proved to Buffy that she was capable in a fight. She earned Buffys respect, finally.
Out in the desert, Xander had got to Willows side and stopped his friend from destroying the world. With a story of a yellow crayon. Willow, now sobbing, was reverted back to her former self. The demons in the earth had disapeared, and Buffy realized that she didn't want to sheild Dawn from the world, but that she wanted to show her it.
At the end of the summer, the schools re-opened. Sunnydale High was up and running once more, much to Buffys displeasure. The next few months were hard on Dawn. She had had her first crush... even if it was under the influence of a love spell, er, love jacket. R.J. Brooks was the apple of Dawns eye. And Willow, Buffy and Anyas. When it came down to a fight, each of them set off to win his heart in their own way. Dawns way however, was suicide on the train tracks. Luckily, Buffy had found out and reached her in time before the coming train killed her.
Next was a exorcism. One night when Dawn was home alone, she was being haunted by something in the house. She found out that her mother, Joyce, was being attacked by a demon. Dawn tried to perform a exorcism to protect what she believed to be her mother. Whether it was The First Evil or not, Dawn never found out. But she still believes that it was her mother.
Not long after this, Giles returned to Sunnydale. Along with a ton of Potential Slayers. One night when Willow was performing a spell, the orb of light that was to find the potential hit Dawn and for awhile Dawn believed that she was a potential. For that brief moment it changed her whole life. But when she found out that she wasn't the potential, that it was a student at her school named Amanda, Dawn passed on the "crown" and gave Amanda the spotlight without being whiny or a child about it. Dawn was truly maturing into a young adult.
As the final battle drew near, Xander had chloroformed Dawn, "kidnapping" her to get her out of Sunnydale. But in return Dawn tasered Xander then drove back home to Sunnydale to help with the coming fight. One Dawn participated in and survived.
Reason for being on AM: She came with her older sister, Buffy, and friends. Since her sister wont let her go off on her own yet, she was forced to come with.
Sample RP:
"Okay, Buffy! I'm ready!"
Dawn called as she hurried down the stairs of their house. When she reached the bottom she looked up. As she gaze swept over the room a frown tugged on her lips. "Buffy?" She checked the dining room then the living, but she didn't see her sister. Or Willow and Xander who were also here moments before.
"Buffy!?"
It took a moment to sink in. But when it did Dawn couldn't believe this. Buffy had finally promised to let her come with her, Will, and Xander on patrol. She had only gone upstairs for a second to grab a jacket and they leave without her!
Dawn plopped down on the couch. Frustratedly running her hands through her hair, a sigh escaping her lips. She had been so excited about going too. But no, her sister had to leave her behind as usual. She'd probably come back saying it was for the best. Hmph. Why did everyone have to treat her like a kid? She was eighteen now. Plus she had beat one of those upervamps at the Hellmouth! Didn't that show that she could handle herself?
She sat there thinking. Slowly calming down. As her thoughts leveled out some more she thought, maybe she could go after them? Slipping the jacket on, Dawn stood up and headed for the door. Opening it with a bit of anger, she walked out.
