Name: Metal Sonic
Alias: Mecha Sonic, Metallix, Neo Metal Sonic, Metal Madness, Metal Overlord
Age: Constructed only a scant few years ago
Ranking: Evil
Physical Appearance: Normal Form
'Neo' Form
Metal Madness
Personality: Metal Sonic is aggressive, power hungry and very cold-hearted. For a long time he acted more or less as Eggman's slave, but after turning against his master in Sonic Heroes it became clear he is actually a very controlling person, who views himself as superior to others and wishes to rule over them. He is also completely obsessed with the idea that he is superior to Sonic in every way, and his ultimate desire above all else is proving to the real Sonic that he is better than him, should it be in fighting or just racing, and eventually defeat Sonic once and for all, since it is for this reason that he was created.
It was this desire to defeat Sonic that eventually drove Metal Sonic to rebel in Sonic Heroes, as he claimed this was the reason that he took Eggmans position and sought out the data from the others to become Metal Overlord: So that he could finally defeat Sonic. In Sonic Heroes he even goes as far as calling Sonic "my loathsome copy", as well as desperately shouting "I am the real Sonic!" when he is defeated by Team Super Sonic. He also says "Sonic, I was created for the sole purpose of destroying you", near the middle of the fight, raising the question as to how Metal Sonic can both believe himself to be the real Sonic and at the same time acknowledge his existence as a mechanical copy of Sonic. This suggests that Metal Sonic's obsession with the real Sonic, and the belief that he is better than him, drove him insane in the process. It can be thought, however, that Metal Sonic thinks that even though he was created, he believes he's the real Sonic.

Brief History: The first appearance of Metal Sonic was in Sonic CD for the Sega CD console. In this game, he is under the control of Dr. Robotnik and is sent back in time to change the past so that Dr. Robotnik can rule the future. Later, he kidnaps Amy Rose, who had been following Sonic. In the Stardust Speedway Zone, he challenges Sonic to a race rather than a traditional boss battle, with Robotnik on their trail and chasing Sonic with a death laser. Periodically, he uses one of two moves - if Sonic is ahead of him, he will explosively accelerate with the V. Max Overdrive Attack, which will make him go four times as fast temporarily and attempt to blast through Sonic. If Sonic is behind him, he'll instead use the Ring Spark Field, which is an electric attack that has a wider range but requires him to decelerate.
If Sonic does not reach the goal in time, the door will close as Robotnik kills Sonic and the robotic duplicate mimics Sonic's smug finger wave. If Sonic succeeds, the door will close on Metal Sonic, and he will humorously lose a life as Robotnik retreats, allowing Sonic to finally rescue Amy and proceed to the last zone. In the Japanese manual, it was claimed that he had all the abilities of the original Sonic and more, but in-game he does not demonstrate this.
Metal Sonic's second major appearance was in Knuckles' Chaotix, where he attempts to absorb the Chaos Rings' powers to wreak havoc in the Newtrogic High Zone. Once again, he has an unorthodox boss battle in which the goal is to stop his machine so it lands on a "damage" mark. After being defeated by the Chaotix, he is seen leaving with Robotnik. This occasion also featured his first supposed power up; a massive, red version of himself called Metal Sonic Kai appears right afterwards. In the bad ending, this monstrosity destroys the island.
He appeared as the main antagonist in Sonic Heroes. After turning against Doctor Eggman and assuming his disguise he copies the physical data (and/or abilities) of Sonic, Shadow, Froggy and Chocola to assume his ultimate form, Metal Madness, and later Metal Overlord. This not only increased Metal Sonic's power, but gave him shape-shifting abilities and a new look (a cape, elf-like shoes and longer spines on his head), dubbed Neo Metal Sonic. He manages to achieve this through the use of Chocola, since Chao have a connection to Chaos, the water god of destruction from Sonic Adventure, and Froggy, who periodically had Chaos' tail in Sonic Adventure.
In his Metal Overlord form, he transforms into a mechanical dragon-like entity, with one eye over the other, strangely. After he is defeated by Team Super Sonic in his Metal Overlord form, he reverts to his original form. Sonic then challenges Metal Sonic to a future rematch and races away. Metal Sonic passes out cold and is lifted off the ground by Omega, who exchanges a glance with Shadow. What they have in mind for the metallic hedgehog is never told.
What became of him immediately afterward is not clearly known. Perhaps he was disposed of, perhaps he was brought back to Eggman and lost along the way, or perhaps he reactivated and vanished of his own free will.

Powers/Abilities:
- Supersonic Speed: In his original level of construction, Metal Sonic was at least as fast as Sonic; that is to say, he could keep up with his flesh and blood rival in an even contest. In time, with further upgrades and enhancements from Dr. Robotnik, his speed was increased to where he could exceed his rival's speed with effort. After his ascension into his 'Neo' form, his speed is increased dramatically. Metal Sonic is capable of effortlessly reaching speeds as much as 800 times the speed of sound when in his Neo form, and even higher, possibly even
- Super Strength: It is not a far stretch to say Metal Sonic is just as strong as he is fast. In his 'Neo' form, he can effortlessly shift masses of material which exceed his own size and mass by exponential factors, and can simialrly punch through or break most materials effortlessly, and can send even powerful, durable opponents such as Knuckles the Echidna or E-123 Omega reeling with a single blow. Indeed, he has the combined physical superstrength of Knuckles the Echidna, Vector the Crocodile, Big the Cat, and Omega, in addition to the strength granted by his absorption of Chaos and his own impressive strength, making him a true powerhouse in his own right.
- Increased Durability: Even in his base construction, Metal Sonic was durable and sturdy enough to stand up to open combat with Sonic the Hedgehog. With augmentations to his armor composition and his own increases in power and assimilation of the power of others, he has only increases in durability. He si not indestructible or impervious to damage by any means, but he is exceedingly durable, able to weather even the mightly blows of Knuckles the Echidna and Omega, and survive powerful explosions with only relatively minor surface damage.
- Flight: Via a combination of built-in rocket engines and his own improvements in power and ability, Metal Sonic is capable of extended, rapid flight at speeds nearly equivalent with his grounded speed, if not superior. He retains full bodily control and coordination when airborne, and is capable of complex feats and maneuvers during flight, such as various acrobatics and aerial 'tricks', flyign backwards, and carrying great weights while airborne without impediment.
- 'Limitless' Stamina: As Metal Sonic is an artificial being and therefore lacks the needs a living, organic creature would require, he does not need to eat, drink, breathe, rest, or anything of the sort, and can go on acting indefinitely, so long as he does not overload his power core with too strenuous an activity.
- Self-Repair Function: In any form, Metal Sonic is capable of continuous, autonomous self-repair via the usage of nanomachines created with energy from his power core. The repair and regeneration is not instantaneous, as with other rapid healers, but is still extremely rapid, to the level of its progress being visible to an observer. This does not make him impossible to take down in a fight, oh no; it just gives him more staying power in a fight, and makes him able to recover from nearly any damage after a fight runs its course one way or another.
- Copying Abilities: Metal Sonic is capable of scanning and then perfectly replicating and copying the abilities and powers of anyone he encounters, given sufficient time. The time taken to scan a particular individual of their powers and abilities is directly proportional to the magnitude of the powers or abilities in question. A scan of someone's DNA data will provide an instantaneous readout of all powers and inherent abilities, such as strength and intelligence, however, but this requires, of course, a DNA sample, which is sometimes rather troublesome to get. A list of the powers he has acquired thus far from his DNA scanning follows:
- Shapeshifting: The most notable aspect of this particular ability is that Metal Sonic is able to shapeshift into a perfect copy of anyone he has attained a DNA scan of. Aside from this, he is capable of shifting into a generic form cobbled together from bits and pieces of other forms, though this is somewhat more diffucult. He can also assume the forms of inanimate objects and the like at need.
- Chaos Control: The same power as exhibited by Shadow and on occasion Sonic. With it, Metal Sonic can warp time and space and access a multitude of abilities. Among these abilities are stopping time in a localized area, slowing time across a much greater area, teleporting across incalculable distances, generating forcefields, projecting an aura around the user to increase melee damage, creating 'bombs' of chaos energy, firing projectiles of pure chaos energy, and several other impressive abilities.
- Strategic Genius: Copied from Dr. Eggman, Metal Sonic has become a strategic genius. He is capable of planning, organizing, implementing, and adjusting tactics and plans of action on par with a master tactician, and thanks to his mechanical processors, analyze them and react to situations exponentially faster than a human could.
- Energy Manipulation: Metal Sonic is capable of manipulating energy for a variety of purposes, both offensive and defensive. He can manipulate a great number of energy types, but most seems to fall into the area of hardlight, or laserlight when emitted and used.
- Energy Absorption/Storage: Metal Sonic can absorb and store an indefinite amount of energy within his systems. The types of energy he can absorb have never been clarified, but his numerous battles have shown that he cannot, at the least, absorb kinetic or thermal energy.
- Black Shield: Releasing vast amounts of energy, Metal Sonic can form a diamond-shaped shield around himself, pulsing with black and violet light. This shield spins rapidly, and is nigh indestructible. As well, the energy that composes it is highly destructive and will cause damage to anything that should come in contact with it.
- Lasers: Simple enough, Metal Sonic can fire lasers of varying power from the cannon in his chest.
- Great Blast: Similar in function to Shadow's Chaos Blast, Metal Sonic can release a large shockwave of pure energy in all directions, with great destructive power, but equally great energy drain.
- Energy Absorption/Storage: Metal Sonic can absorb and store an indefinite amount of energy within his systems. The types of energy he can absorb have never been clarified, but his numerous battles have shown that he cannot, at the least, absorb kinetic or thermal energy.
- Psychokinesis: Metal Sonic is a competent psychinetic user. His power with it remains mostly within telekinesis, capable of affecting inanimate material to an indefinite degree. In essence, he can move objects with his mind, even though he's a robot, and he possesses limited capabilities for psychic speech and communication over distances.
- Electricity Generation and Manipulation: Metal Sonic can channel his internal power source to project electricity and control it with a great degree of skill and efficiency.
- Lightning Bolt: The mainstay of any use of electricity, Metal Sonic can cast out powerful bolts of lightning. Their power is sufficient to completely obliterate a large tower easily several hundred feet high.
- Electric Field: Metal Sonic can project a field of electricity over an area, from a mere static field to interrupt communications and the like to a painful field of such intensity as to prevent entry into an area to a normal person.
- Lightning Aura: Metal Sonic can generate an aura of lightning around parts of his body, or his entire body, for various uses.
- V. Maximum Overdrive: Pushing his internal energy core to maximum output, Metal Sonic is capable of increasing his maximum speed by four times. This is useful, as the resulting energy field generated is a potent attack, capable of punching a hole through nearly anything, though it drains a significant amount of energy and so cannot be used for more than a few moments.
- Ring Spark Field: Creating a wide field of electricity, Metal Sonic will be forced to decelerate as energy is rerouted to use this attack. An extremely powerful, extremely wide-ranged attack than packs more than enough voltage to kill a normal human near instantaneously.
- Lightning Bolt: The mainstay of any use of electricity, Metal Sonic can cast out powerful bolts of lightning. Their power is sufficient to completely obliterate a large tower easily several hundred feet high.
- Other Abilities: Even with all of his other abilities and powers, Metal Sonic still has other abilities, some of which date back to his initial construction and design, but still remain useful.
- Spin Dash: Exactly the same move used by his rival, Sonic, Metal Sonic curls into a ball and spins at extremely high speed, turning more into a lethal buzzsaw than anything else.
- Homing Attack: Essentially, the Spin Dash performed while airborne, and propeleld toward an enemy at great velocity. A dangerous, if rather basic, attack.
- Lightspeed Attack: A simple, if extremely effective attack. Metal Sonic simply attacks every target within a given range at lightspeed, or attacks one target several times at this speed. The viable range for the attack is fifteen meters in any given direction, or up to sixty meters in one direction. While performing the attack, Metal Sonic will glow bright blue, and tend to flicker and appear as if not really there.
- Limb Extension: Metal Sonic is capable of extending his limbs, chiefly his arms, to an indefinite length to attack from a distance.
- Super Form: Like his rival, Metal Sonic is capable of assuming a Super Form, wherein all of his abilities are magnified exponentially. His strength becomes nearly incalculable, his speed increases to the point where the speed of light becomes a plaything, his powers of Chaos Control are vastly enhanced, and his ability to project both energy and electricity are exponentially enhanced. The only downside to this form is its massive power requirements. To even transform in the first place it requires the energy of all seven Chaos Emerals, or an equal source of power, or else absorbing and storing an incalculable amount of energy to internalize the necessary energy for the transformation.
- Spin Dash: Exactly the same move used by his rival, Sonic, Metal Sonic curls into a ball and spins at extremely high speed, turning more into a lethal buzzsaw than anything else.
