Cbox Name: Meekseh Nicknames: Meeks Main Account: Anya
Who else do you play?: Anya Jenkins & Cordelia Chase.
How did you find us?: RPGC
Category: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Name: Glorificus
Alias: People just love getting dramatic. She's been called "That Which Cannot Be Named", "The Abomination", and other more...offensive terms. But she simply prefers "Glory".
Age: VERYVERYOLD No one's ever bothered to keep count, and she lost track some time ago. She's pretty much been around since the beginning of this world, at least..
Ranking: Villain
Physical Appearance:
Glory appears to be nothing more than your average valley girl. She always seems to be dressing to kill, her favorite trademark outfit being her blood-red dress and matching pumps. She stands at about 5'6, with a slender build and fair skin that never seems to tan. Glory is fascinated with things like make-up and jewelry, so you can count on her wearing a whole lot of that too. Her eyes are light blue, and her hair is...well, there's not really a phrase that can accurately describe her hair except "over the top". Long, blonde and absurdly wavy, it actually kind of portrays her inner-crazyness.
Personality: Well, she won't be winning that Miss Congeniality title any time soon, that much is certain. The girl's pretty much the definition of "dysfunctional". She is a violent, egotistical, insane being who gets kicks and giggles out of watching people suffer. What else is there to say?
..Well, since you asked. Glory is(was?) a goddess from hell, after all, so she's not exactly the most benevolent person you're ever gonna meet. She's mostly pretty self-involved, and has little interest in the screwed-up affairs of this world. It's a miracle that she can still walk carrying around that ego all day; she's evidently under the impression that she is the most amazing person in the whole entire world. Glory is quite superficial, selfish, and aloof. She'd really rather not interact with the unfortunate inhabitants of this dimension more than necessary, unless there's actually something in it for her.
As much as she seems to despise the "emotional crap" going on in this world, she's quite the drama queen. In this dimension, she hasn't the faintest idea of what to do with all the emotions being thrown at her. Her resulting mood swings tend to be both violent and unpredictable. Glory has an extreme tendency to blow things out of proportion—practically breaking down when she doesn't get her way, bursting into tears at random times, completely flipping shit on someone who "looked at her funny"...you get the idea. It's like she's been cursed with ever-lasting PMS. Things get even worse when she hasn't had a good brain-drain in a good week or so. At times like these, one only needs to converse with her for a minute and a half tops before reaching the fairly accurate conclusion that she is utterly and hopelessly insane.
On the rare occassion when she does take a liking to someone, she seems to treat them as a particularly valuable accessory rather than as a friend. To Glory, all emotional attachments are disposable, and she seems to have little actual concern for the people around her...especially if they happen to get in her way. When it comes to getting what she wants, she is entirely ruthless. At best, the hell-god is of the mindset that it it doesn't matter who she has to hurt to get her way. At worst, she'll actually take a certain sadistic pleasure in wreaking havoc.
Although she radiates confidence and conceit, there's one teeny little detail that Glory hasn't revealed to anyone: this world? It terrifies her. Perhaps these specific sentiments can best be explained through a quote of her's:
"Who's NOT crazy? Look around... everyone's drinkin', smokin', shootin' up, shootin' each other or just plain screwing their brains out because they don't want 'em anymore. I'm crazy? Honey, I am the original one-eyed chicklet in the kingdom of the blind 'cause at least I admit the world makes me nuts. Name one person who can take it here. That's all I'm asking. Name one."
Perhaps the reason she despises humanity so much is that she will never, ever understand it. It is because of this that she's never used her power to try and 'take over the world' or something like that. She wants nothing to do with this place. All she wants is to get out of it.
Powers/Abilities:
- Near-invulnerability - In her god form, Glory was pretty much indestructible. Unfortunately for her, being stuck in a human dimension has taken her down a peg or two. Still, not much seems to seriously affect her in the way of physical injury(not for long, at least..), save for a few things—see her weaknesses below.
- Immortality - God forbid she actually show her age! Ick!
- Brain-Drain - Glory can literally suck the sanity right out of a person, leaving them a mindless, miserable mess. However, it's so far only been proven to work on humans and demons—the effects on anyone else would be iffy to say the least.
- Super Strength/Speed - Lightning fast, inhuman strength, yada yada yada...yep. She's a regular Superman in heels.
- Abra Kadabra! - Glory has at her disposal the knowledge of all kinds of nasty little spells and rituals. Well...when she can actually remember 'em all.
Equipment: Whatever's on hand and good for smackin' people around with.
Weaknesses
Psychological Flaws: - Cuh-RAZY! - To put it simply, Glory's a psychotic bitch. She's completely insane. Really. She was always a little out there, but being imprisoned in this dimension has made her downright unstable. The more energy she uses physically, the more she comes apart mentally. Glory depends on her little brain-draining trick to literally absorb peoples' sanity. If she went without doing this for too long, she'd be in danger of a complete mental breakdown.
- It's all about me! - Glory is very conceited and self-centered, practically throwing tantrums if she doesn't get her way. This is a quality that has proven to be her downfall in the past; her inability to really "see the bigger picture" may just be deadly. Plus, she's not exactly the brightest crayon in the villainous box. The time she's spent in this dimension has turned her quite materialistic, and at times downright ditzy.
- No Place like Home - Glory was torn out of her hell dimension and zapped right into the human world. And all honesty, she hates it here. She often finds herself feeling utterly lost, or baffled by the ways of this world. This both frustrates and frightens her to where her main motive at this point is to just get the hell outta here.
Physical Flaws:
- Human Form - In this world, Glory's power is significantly less than it would be in her home dimension. She was a hell god, after all, but here? She's just majorly screwed up nutcase with superpowers and serious anger issues.
- Holy Artifacts - They won't kill her as they might a vampire, but they are very effective in repelling or trapping her.
- Extreme amounts of magic - Any weapon or force associated with a vast amount of magic(powerful magical spells, ancient mystical weapons, that sort of thing) is one of the few things that does prove to be a serious threat to her.
- Physical Injuries - Though most won't have any serious effects on her, if she takes enough of a beating and a battle goes on long enough, she will need to stop and take time to recover.
Other Flaws: DON'T MESS WITH HER HAIR. Or her shoes. Or her clothes. Seriously, she might have a panic attack.
Brief History: Once upon a time in a magical land far far away, Glory ruled over a hell dimension along with two other goddesses. Originally, the trio was equal in both power and authority, but as the centuries passed Glory became...restless. Her power and bloodlust grew to an almost inconceivable extent, until even her fellow hell gods began to fear her. Talk of a coup began to brew, and it seemed evident that Glory would at some point overthrow the other two rulers...it was only a matter of when.
Tension rose to the point where the other hell gods felt so threatened that they decided to strike first. They gathered their forces and waged a long, bloody war against Glory and her supporters. The effects on the whole dimension were devastating, but in the end the combined forces of her opponents reigned victorious. Glory was defeated, and consequentially banished to the human world. Forced to share a body with an actual human being, she spent twenty-five long years suppressed and trapped. Eventually, however, she began to find a way to break through her human persona and its restraints. And once she finally realized who she was, there was hell to pay.
The first thing on her long list of goals was to get back to her own dimension, exact some vengeance on those who had banished her, and take control of hell in its entirety. There was just one little problem: she had no way of getting back. Her home dimension was virtually inaccessible(and for very good reason, being the hellish place that it was) except through the use of a mystical energy source only known as 'The Key'. The Key could be used to split the fabric between dimensions, therefore opening the way back home. The problem? The Key didn't just tear a way into one specific dimension, it opened all of them at once. If it were to be used, every existing dimension would bleed together into one chaotic, distorted existence.
Not that Glory actually cared about all of that. She wanted to go home, consequences be damned. But a group of monks tasked with guarding The Key learned that Glory was hunting for it, and through magical means they committed an act which they hope would hide it from Glory forever: they put all of The Key's energy into one mortal soul. That mortal soul being the Slayer's sister.
Eventually, however, Glory did discover this. Initially she was able to take Buffy down without so much as breaking a sweat, then kidnapping her sister and preparing the ritual that would send her home. What the goddess didn't count on, however, was Buffy and her friends having access to a troll hammer—a weapon of the gods. Although she succeeded in opening the dimensional rift, Glory was defeated by this weapon before she could return home. Meanwhile, Buffy sacrificed herself(sharing her sister's blood, and all) to close the rift, and all was right in the world again.
After her defeat, it was assumed that Glory had died...or had come as close as a hell-god could come to dying, anyway. But in reality, she had been returned to one of the lower levels of hell...forced to start from scratch and work her way back up to the top.
Reason for being on AM: Basically, she was tricked. Again. Big surprise. Power-hungry and ambitious as always, Glory slowly began to regain her powers as she ascended through hell. But her impulsiveness and impatience would betray her when she attempted to 'speed things up a little' by making a deal with a demon. The demon agreed to restore her to her former power...but failed to mention where she would be sent after this happened.
Thus, she is once again trapped in the mortal realm, in human form. And this time, she has no "Key" to help her return home. She has become convinced that if she works her way up in this world and becomes powerful enough, she may have a shot of returning to her own dimension by herself.
