Name: Irene Adler
Alias: Yeaaahh, I'm sure she has plenty.
Age: 32.
Ranking:BITCH CLASSY HOE Neutral.
Physical Appearance:
IRENE!
Ugh, but I guess she'll have to look 'modern' to blend in
Personality:
There's a thing or two you need to know about Irene before deciding to get to know her further: she's a criminal. A thief. And she doesn't go making permanent attachments to people, it's...impractical, in her opinion. So as long as you keep these things in mind (unfortunately, not too many people know them - and the ones that do learn it the hard way) and remain aware that she's probably not the most trustworthy person in the world, well...you and her should get along just fine. She actually does like people, you know - she's quite social, even friendly - she just isn't too fond of remaining loyal to the same person for any extended length of time.
Irene has a rather playful personality, and she doesn't seem to take anything or anyone too seriously. Seem being the key word here. Fact of the matter is, even if she means SERIOUS BUSINESS she'll usually maintain a roguish smile and a quick sense of humor. She's also quite flirtatious - in the most classy of ways, if that makes sense. She doesn't just throw herself at men, that is, but she's very witty and infinitely charming - and she knows how to use people to her own advantage. She's very bold, particularly considering the time period she's from, where women weren't encouraged to speak their mind - something Irene does frequently. She's forward, street-smart, and resourceful - but at the same time she maintains the feminine, lady-like air of the ideal Victorian woman.
And make no mistake - she's incredibly intelligent and cunning. Sometimes these traits are difficult to recognize and easily underestimated, because it's rare that she ever lets anyone into that head of hers, but it's true. She's one of the few people - the only woman, actually - who has ever managed to outwit Sherlock Holmes once or twice. And the admirable thing about Irene is, self-confidence is something that just radiates from her. She never seems to doubt herself, never seems to think twice about anything - and she's far too stubborn to admit when she's wrong. ...However, she's not quite as sure of herself as she appears to be, particularly when emotions get involved. Irene tries very hard to stay detached from most people and things because emotions feel so foreign to her - they're a sign of weakness, as far as she's concerned. She's taken care to protect herself from such vulnerabilities, rarely allowing humanity or compassion to show through - but both of these things are there, buried deep beneath the surface.
Powers/Abilities:
Equipment: She carries a niiiiifty little club that actually serves as a sheath for an even niftier little knife. Oh, and anything else she decides to steal offa anyone ^^;
Psychological Flaws:
Physical Flaws: She's human, mortal, perfectly killable, blah blah blah.
Other Flaws: I mean. It's Irene freakin' Adler.
Brief History:
Irene was born in New Jersey - in the year 1858 to be exact -YAY AMERICANS! and in her youth lived a life...surprisingly different than the one she lives now. Starting in her early childhood, she underwent extensive vocal training under the watch of a professional, and was a trained opera singer by the time she was a teen. And she became quite successful, too - her career fully blossoming in her twenties, giving her opportunities to travel all around the world while on tour and learn several unusual (and useful) skills while she was at it. Irene was quite the popular little performer in those days - patrons even described her talent as 'extraordinary', and by the time she was thirty she'd made enough money to live quite comfortably and even abandon her singing career...in favor of one that was a bit shadier. See, one of those 'skills' she'd picked up? Swiping valuables off of the rich men she liked to flirt with - it became a sort of habit, after awhile.
Irene met Sherlock Holmes around this time - the pair were involved in a secret love affairSCANDALOUS while Irene was scamming involved with one of those rich men she liked to toy with. In fact, she's been married several times - it's never quite worked out for her. She's hardly the type to settle down, you see. In fact, there weren't at all many people she'd ever maintained a close bond with for very long...strangely enough, Holmes seemed to be the closest thing she had to someone she actually cared about.
...A detail which was quick to capture the attention of one Professor Moriarty. Moriarty was a shady character to say the least, though Irene never realized exactly how dangerous he was until it was a little too late. None the less, she agreed to work for him - and was tasked to approach Holmes and enlist him in a case that Moriarty very much wanted solved: to find a man named Luke Reordan. This request ended up pulling Irene, along with Sherlock and Watson, right into the whole mess with Lord Blackwood. The resulting misadventures had Irene nearly losing her life - twice - which...was finally around the time she began to realize that Holmes had been right in telling her just how far in over her head she was. Irene later attempted to flee London, but Moriarty, having expected this, confronted her before she was able to do so. She could not leave his employment until he gave her permission, he told her. Furthermore, Moriarty made it quite clear how displeased he was that Irene seemed to have allowed her feelings for Sherlock to get in the way of her duty. If she tried to wriggle out of her contract, Moriarty made it very clear that the object of her affections would end up dead.
So she returned to finish the job she'd been tasked with - helping Holmes and Watson bring down Lord Blackwood, something that would eventually benefit Moriarty himself. . Sherlock, Watson, and Irene eventually managed to foil Blackwood's plot to poison all of Partliament, and afterward Irene fled - but not before allowing Sherlock one warning about Moriarty. Her loyalties were beginning to become conflicted.
And Moriarty, of course, was no fool. He realized that soon Irene would no longer be loyal to him - and he had no further use for her. He was sure to inform her of this, too...right before he poisoned her with a rare strain of tuberculosis. Or at least, that was what he had Sherlock believe - just another way of getting to him. But Moriarty wasn't one to play around with poisons that he himself didn't have the antidote for - and in fact, he was keeping Irene alive. His motives? Well...Irene never got the chance to ask him, but she could take a few guesses - she was insurance. Leverage, just to assure that Moriarty would have one final piece to pay, one last thing to hold over Holmes' head...should he ever need it.
Well, she never quite got to see how that one played out, anyway. WHO KNEW TIME WARPS EXISTED?! WELL, SURE YOU PEOPLE ON AM DID. BUT IRENE SURE DIDN'T. ...Anywaaaay yup, she's somehow managed to find herself smack-dab in the middle of...well, today.
Reason for being on AM:to troll Sherlock A TIME WARP. Oddly convenient, isn't it?

Powers/Abilities:
- Sticky Fingers! - Irene is a professional thief, and she will not hesitate to rob you blind. Seriously. No matter how careful you are, chances are you won't even feel it as she swipes your wallet outta your back pocket.
- Is that a...knife? - Yeah, she's armed. And she's pret-ty darn skilled in self-defense - she knows how to manipulate opponents who are several times larger than she is. I wouldn't suggest trying to mug her in some random back alley
JUST ASK THE GUYS WHO'VE TRIED IT BEFORE. - Looks and Brains~ - Underestimating Irene's intellect simply because she chooses not to take things too seriously probably isn't a good idea, though it's a mistake many have made. She's smart. Extremely smart - probably nearly on par with Sherlock; which is the main reason she's actually managed to earn his respect.
- Sweet-Talker - Cleverly charming at best, downright flirtatious at worst, Irene's pretty good at getting unsuspecting
suckers'friends' to warm up to her. Some might even call her...manipulative? It'd be a good idea to learn her little games pretty quickly~
Equipment: She carries a niiiiifty little club that actually serves as a sheath for an even niftier little knife. Oh, and anything else she decides to steal offa anyone ^^;
Weaknesses
Psychological Flaws:
- Year 20-what?! - Well, being that Irene's from Victorian England, just about everything about the modern day...pretty much baffles her. And she does not like feeling as if she's being kept in the dark.
- Not-So-Heartless - As smug and emotionless as she likes to appear, that's not really the case. Sure, she's a criminal, but when it comes to serious wrong-doings - like killing innocent people, for instance, her sense of compassion tends to get in the way of things. The most notable aspect of this weakness are her feelings for a certain Victorian detective. He is, you might say, her biggest weakness.
- Pfft, Danger? Where? - At times Irene seems...quite incapable of realizing just how dangerous a situation is. She's overly confident, and extremely reckless at times - and she's infamous for not realizing when she's in over her head.
- Psychotic Serial Killers. Yikes - Irene doesn't fear much. She's extremely difficult to intimidate. But one person that truly does scare her? Professor Moriarty. She'd think twice before going head to head with him.
Physical Flaws: She's human, mortal, perfectly killable, blah blah blah.
Other Flaws: I mean. It's Irene freakin' Adler.

Reason for being on AM:
Sample RP:
No one - no one screwed Irene Adler over and got away with it. Not even Professor James Moriarty. For days (or had it been weeks?) after he'd poisoned her, she hadn't been able to think straight - and Irene relied on her ability to think the way a cat relied on its ability to hunt. The strain of illness had severely weakened her, as was the intention, no doubt. She'd been beginning to wonder why he didn't just kill her already, even began to wish that he would. Death was...well, it was better than the blatant sense of vulnerability she'd been trapped in. Anything was. Had she the strength, she would have gladly gone down fighting with everything she had, rather than allow that despicable man - or anyone for that matter - see her like this.
And yet now she was...free? Or so it seemed. From what she could immediately gather, she'd been dumped rather unceremoniously on some street corner; the mouth of an alleyway. One of the very first things Irene noticed as her blue-green eyes fluttered open hazily: she was no longer in London. Or...at least not the London she knew - no, this place was far too clean. And that was saying a lot...it was an alleyway, after all. Struggling to stand, she was pleased to find that the majority of her strength had returned to her. After steadying herself briefly against the wall, she could actually hold her ground rather confidently...and she used the opportunity to take a better look around.
The streets were filled with people, she found as she peered curiously around the corner. People walking - dressed all in very strange clothing; even some of the women were dressed in trousers, how odd - and people riding around in these bizarrely over-the-top sorts of vehicles, so sleek and fast and...rather disgusting smelling. But this...this wasn't making sense. This wasn't at all like the world she knew, wasn't like it in the slightest, and for a moment Irene had to wonder whether she'd succumbed to some feverish dream. A moment later, however, that theory was dismissed. The strong hand that suddenly gripped her shoulder felt far too real for any dream.
In an instant, Irene had swiped her bowie knife from her side (for all of his supposed intelligence, Moriarty had failed to suspect that she'd hidden it so carefully beneath her petticoats), drawn it from its sheath, and whipped around to force the man who'd grabbed her against the wall, the edge of the blade pressed dangerously against his throat. It had been a simple reflex, really - she hadn't detected him until he'd touched her, and in all honesty Irene really couldn't be blamed for a bit of paranoia considering recent events. There was a moment in which she considered the man, her eyes narrowed slightly as she surveyed his features as if searching for any sign of malicious intent. But the man...actually looked quite taken aback. Downright terrified, in fact - and now he was trying to speak: "P-please! Don't hurt me!"
...Hmm. Irene lifted one finely arched eyebrow at his reaction. It certainly wasn't that of a mugger, or any of Moriarty's thugs - then again, it could have very well been some sort of trick. "Who are you?" she asked him briskly, seeing no need to loosen her hold on the knife just yet. The man seemed a bit too panicked to answer her question properly, however. He was still trying to splutter out some kind of explanation.
"Lady, please - you were laying there on the ground, I just wanted to see if you were alright..."
This surprised her a little, though she didn't show it. And yet at the same time, it was vaguely amusing - there was no dishonesty in his face. He'd really been trying to help her. This place really was different from the London - no, the world - she knew. A slow, small smirk crept its way across her features as this sunk in, and she lifted some of the pressure she'd been applying to the knife against his throat - an action that seemed to prompt the man to sigh in relief. Gaze brightening just a bit courtesy of the amusement that was gradually beginning to seep through her, she leaned in a little closer to the man. "Oh? How very thoughtful..." Chuckling a bit at his expression - he seemed to actually think she was trying to seduce him - but she merely slipped her hand into his pocket, snatched his wallet, and abruptly pulled back.
It was nothing personal, really - she probably would have robbed the first person she'd run into regardless of who they were. The fact was, she was in a strange new place and she needed to start trying to figure things out. But first things first - she was going to need a sample of this world's currency to start her off. Waving the wallet in one hand and still gripping her knife in the other, Irene shot the still-stunned man a rogueish grin. "You've been too kind, really - I'll have to think of some way to repay you." And with that, Irene was off, slipping away around the corner without so much as a backward glance - and into the strange new world before her.
