Category: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Name: Spike
Alias: William the Bloody
Age: About 160 years old.
Ranking: Anti-Hero
Physical Appearance:
Spike is pretty tall at about 5'11. He is in shape and well-muscled, his thin but lithe appearance will tell any observer that he is in top physical condition. His hair is naturally dirty blond and curly. Not that anyone would know, because he almost always bleaches it a lighter blond and slicks it back. He kind of a Billy Idol look goin' on. Spike has light blue eyes, distinctive cheekbones, and an almost permanent smirk to his expression. He's a pretty handsome devil, and he knows it. Spike speaks in a rough cockney accent. His usual outfit consists of a tight shirt and dark jeans, and of course his trademark black leather jacket.
In his vampire form, his face distorts, his eyes turn yellow and his fangs grow out. This usually only happens for one of two reasons. Either he's angry and rearing for a fight, or he's getting ready to chow down.
Personality: Anybody who has known Spike for a long time knows how drastically his personality has changed. He has gone from a romantic, naive, quiet sort of man (as a human), to a remorseless and pain-loving monster (as a vampire), to the sullen but good-intending being that he is today (as a re-ensouled vampire).
Spike is a thrill-seeker. He is reckless and sometimes violent, and will jump into a fight without putting any thought into it. Even though he has a soul, violence is in his nature and he can be very brutal. There are also other things besides instinct that can make Spike act out of violence: his thirst for blood, although usually he can control it, his bad temper, and his protectiveness of the ones he cares about. But if he actually does try to think things through, it is shown that Spike is very intellegent. Not so much book-smarts as it is cleverness, awareness, and the keen ability to analyze a situation.
Spike is not going to be winning any prizes for friendliness or sensitivity. It takes a very long time to get him to trust someone, even though he may act like he isn't concerned by them at all. Spike is blunt, irritable and nonchalant with people he doesn't know very well. He is definitely not the type to be concerned about being polite, and his personality is very sarcastic and even bitter at times. He frequently likes to poke fun at people with his dry and snide sense of humor, especially when they get on his nerves. He doesn't seem to take anyone or anything very seriously, and he is very confident. Even overly so at times. But one thing he does take very seriously is the fact that he has a soul now. He feels regret for the things he did in the past, and although he refuses to waste time moping about it, he is determined to change.
So he helps out when he can, and he seems to have a soft spot for people in trouble. Of course Spike refuses to hold anyone's hand or pity them when they don't deserve it, but if he believes that someone truly needs his help he shows that he does indeed have a softer side.
Powers/Abilities: Immortality, superior vampire strength and speed, the ability to drain most of the blood from a body in a matter of seconds, immunity to diseases, rapid healing, enhanced senses. Spike is also an excellent fighter even for a vampire in both armed and unarmed combat.
Equipment: He mostly relies on physical strength but occasionally carries a weapon or two. Such as a club, stake, or crossbow.
Psychological Flaws:
Spike is known to have a bad temper, and if it gets out of control it can seriously mess with his decision making skills.
Spike is very proud. Sometimes he will go to ridiculous lengths or become very reckless just to avoid his pride being wounded.
His soul is definitely a psychological flaw. Since he regained it, his emotions have become a weakness. He feels a lot of guilt for everything he's done in the past, and now his morals sometimes stop him from doing what must be done.
Physical Flaws:
He shares the weaknesses of all vampires. He is vulnerable to a wooden stake through the heart, holy water, fire, sunlight, and beheading.
Other Flaws:
No reflection.
He cannot enter a living human's home without first being invited in.
Brief History: Spike was born in 19th century London. His original name was William Pratt. He was kind of a loser as a human. He lived with his mother and spent most of his days writing poetry to lamely try and woo a girl named Cecily(who would later become Halfrek, ironicly a vengeance demon that was a friend of Anya's). William became depressed after he was rejected by her, and it was then that he was found by Drusilla. Drusilla was an insane, maniacal vampire who seduced William and turned him into a vampire. But William made for a very unusual vampire. When most vampires lose their souls, they basically become demons in a human shell. They lose all of the feelings for the people they used to love. And yet this was not so with William. He still loved his dear old mum and turned her into a vampire too, to cure her from the illness she was dying of. But it turned out that Spike's mom was like normal vampires, and became evil once she was turned. She attacked William, and he had to kill her.
After going through this trauma, William began to change a lot. He began to date Drusilla, and traveled the world with her as she taught him how to become a true vampire. Eventually William became so heartless and twisted that he was almost unrecognizable. Scorning his old human self, he adopted the name 'Spike' because of his trademark way of torturing humans with railroad spikes. Spike grew to love his life as a vampire. He killed people even when he didn't need blood just for the rush it gave him. He and Drusilla met up with two other vampires, Angelus and Darla, and together they would travel and terrorize the world.
But their band was broken up after Angelus left. Angelus was cursed by a gypsy tribe for killing one of their daughters. The conditions of the curse were to give him a soul, so that he would have to life with his guilt for the rest of his life. Spike was disgusted by this. He and Drusilla left Angelus and Darla to deal with the matter.
Spike and Drusilla traveled the world for a long time more, until about a century later when they came to Sunnydale. Spike was eager to stir up some trouble, especially when he heard that the vampire slayer Buffy Summers lived in town. Spike had already killed two slayers, and he was confident that he could kill another one. It wasn't as easy as he thought. Spike and Buffy fought quite often, with Buffy usually besting Spike. He was infuriated by her, but a part of him also secretly admired her strength. He eventually became obsessed with her, which Drusilla noticed and left him because of it.
Spike was miserable, and he blamed Buffy for it. He began causing even more trouble than before, but his recklessness caused him to get captured by the Initiative. The Initiative was a secret military organization who captured and studied supernatural creatures. They implanted a microchip in Spike's brain that made him physically incapable of biting or hurting any human being. Once this happened, Buffy and her gang didn't really view him as such a threat anymore. Spike would actually often have to turn to them for protection, and he helped them out a few times in return. Eventually both Buffy and Spike grew to tolerate each other's presence.
Spike discovered that his chip did not prevent him from hurting vampires, demons, or other evil things. Since he loved to fight, he used it as an outlet even though he was fighting other evil creatures. As time passed Spike forged a stronger alliance to Buffy's gang, even growing to like some of them. His closest bonds were with Buffy's little sister Dawn, who he was especially protective of, and Anya, who was a fellow outcast in the world of humans. But Spike's admiration and magnetic attraction to Buffy did not fade. Eventually Spike realized that he was in love with her. But Buffy was disgusted by this. She viewed Spike as nothing more than a monster, unable to look past all the crimes he had committed. It was only after Buffy died, and was brought back to life by a spell that she and Spike began to bond a little more. Buffy was depressed because her friends had brought her back from death, believing that she had been trapped in a hell dimension. But in reality, Buffy had been in heaven. Spike was the only one who knew this secret at first. Buffy, who felt like she had no reason to live and just wanted to feel something again, began a secret romantic relationship with Spike.
This lasted for awhile, but then Buffy broke it off because she knew she was using Spike. Spike was unable to let go of his feelings for her. He tried several times to get her back, but when nothing worked Spike began to lose sight of reason. Hurt and drunk, he visited a similarly drunken Anya who was mourning over her own break up. Trying to find solace in each other, the two had a short affair. But Buffy and Xander found out about this, which even deepened Buffy's refusal to give Spike a chance. Then something in Spike snapped. Insensed by everything he was feeling, he even tried to force himself on Buffy before he realized what a horrible thing he had almost done. Spike was disgusted by himself, finally seeing his own evil nature. Because of his love for Buffy, he visited a demon shaman who made him face three deadly trials. Spike successfully completed all of these, and regained his soul.
His relationship with Buffy never fully turned romantic again. But he had proven himself to her and earned her trust, and the two slowly formed a close bond. When Sunnydale as well as the entire world were threatened by a force called The First Evil, Spike sacrificed himself to defeat it.
(this version of Spike is gonna be post-Buffy, but pre-Angel )
Reason for being on AM: Spike sacrificed himself by means of a powerful amulet which retained his essence and soul after his death. Now that the amulet has been somehow disturbed and activated again, he is back and has corporealized into a living(well for lack of a better word) vampire once again because of the nature of his transfer into this dimension.
Sample RP:
"Come now, twinkletoes! That can't be the best you've got!"
Spike just loved messing with his opponents before rendered them good and crushed. It added some interest to an otherwise boring battle. His jeers were certainly having an effect on the person he was fighting now. It was another vampire, freshly turned and powered by its lust for blood. But it was inexperienced, and it kept letting itself be distracted by Spike's taunts. He smirked. This was going to be an easy fight if the newborn was as stupid as this.
The other vampire let out an animalistic growl. It circled Spike, fixing him with its eerie glare. Spike rolled his eyes at the display. "Really now pet, I haven't got all night to pal around with you. I'd appreciate it if you bloody well got on with it." said Spike dryly. He didn't have time for all this dramatic moral combat stuff. The other vampire decided to take his advice, as it happened. He lunged at Spike suddenly, and predictably from behind. Spike ducked a little and grabbed his opponent, using the momentum of the lunging vampire to flip his foe over him and onto the ground. But the other vampire surprised him by being ready to launch an instant counterattack. With a strategic kick, he knocked Spike's feet out for under him
This had gone on long enough. The blow had provoked Spike into his game-face, his fangs extending and his eyes yellowing. "Right then. On to business." He muttered to himself, springing to his feet just as the other vampire did the same. He let the other vampire approach, and as it swung a violent punch at him, he grabbed its wrist. Twisting it, Spike pulled his foe towards him and whipped out a stake with his other hands. He struck right on target, plunging it through the creature's heart.
Spike watched as his opponent turned to dust before his eyes. He took a moment to calm down, and then morphed back into human form. "Better luck in hell, mate."
