Name: Castiel
Alias: Cas (as he's dubbed by the Winchesters) ; Jimmy Novak (his vessel's name).
Age: Old. Like really, really, beginning-of-creation old.
Ranking: Anti Hero.
Physical Appearance:
Personality:
Castiel, upon first glance, possesses the personality traits of most angels. He is stoic, reserved, and somber, and he doesn't seem to have much of a sense of humor. Angels are said not to feel emotion the same way that humans do, and while Castiel does experience some of said emotions...he's very good at hiding it in most cases. The fact that many humans are driven by their heart rather than their head confuses him, as do many things pertaining to mortals - because Cas is very logical and makes most of his decisions on facts and evidence as opposed to impulses and desires. Despite the fact that he finds it difficult to understand them however, Castiel does hold a certain level of respect for humanity as a whole.
There is one significant way in which he differs from his fellow angels, and that is in his rather independent sense of morality. Castiel isn't really used to making his own decisions; for most of his life he's followed Heaven's orders without question. However while most angels serve 'the greater good', Castiel has been known to show what can only be described as something close to flickers of humanity in that he sometimes doubts whether his superiors are doing the right thing - if major sacrifices are needed to be made for the greater good, he'll often hesitate because he has actually come to feel empathy for the human race, as well as loyalty to certain members of it. An example of this: when he received his orders to stand by and allow the apocalypse to happen so that an all out war between Heaven and Hell could begin, he instead chose to turn his back on his superiors and assist Dean Winchester in stopping the apocalypse. He has come to believe quite strongly in free will as opposed to fate, and it is for this reason that he has been branded a 'rogue' angel.
Now that we've covered all that angelic crap - let's actually get to describing Castiel's own individual traits. He is a very dry, rather blunt person whose infamously incapable of taking a joke most of the time (often because he fails to realize that a joke is being made) and the concept of 'relaxing' seems to be foreign to him. Castiel is all work, all the time, and...truth be told, he doesn't really know how to have fun. When it comes to personal interactions he is more than a bit awkward, finding human behavior downright bizarre at times and often unable to mimic it and fit into society properly. He is accustomed to perfection, and the concept of being imperfect - human - is very foreign to him. He's still struggling a bit, but has come a long way even in the past year - mostly thanks to the Winchesters.
Powers/Abilities:
Equipment: Dude, Cas can barely work a cell phone.

Other Flaws:
Brief History:
There's no way of measuring the amount of time Castiel has been around - it seems like eternity. He's watched the world change, and its people change along with it, but for the most part he himself has remained pretty much constant. That is, until about a year ago. The year Dean Winchester's soul was dragged to hell as a result of a deal with a Crossroads demon. Dean happened to be very, very important to the angels however, due to the fact that he was apparently destined to be a vessel for the archangel Michael. So the angels laid siege to hell, during which Castiel was able to retrieve Dean's soul and resurrect him.
Castiel was then stationed on earth, and took a vessel of his own - Jimmy Novak. As an angel, he was unable to possess a human without that human's consent, but Jimmy had been a devout religious man and had ultimately agreed. The reason he was stationed on earth in the first place? To more or less become a guide to the Winchester brothers. To keep them - Dean in particular - out of harms way while the sixty-six seals of hell were being broken. The ultimate result? Lucifer would be freed from hell. Castiel and his fellow angel, Uriel, allowed the Winchesters to believe that they were trying to stop this from happening...when in all actuality, Heaven and its forces actually wanted Lucifer to be released. Lucifer's rising would trigger the apocalypse, which would then allow for an all-out war between angels and demons. The angels were confident that they would win, and that the end result would be paradise on earth...the only snag being, of course, that millions of people were going to die in the crossfire.
As time passed, Castiel slowly began to grow attached to the Winchesters and those close to them, and actually sympathize with them. And with these new emotions, he began to feel doubt - doubt that allowing Lucifer to rise was actually the right thing to do. Slowly he began to show small signs of disobedience, helping the Winchesters when he wasn't supposed to...and even ultimately killing Uriel and allowing Dean to escape when they were down to the final seal and the apocalypse at hand. Castiel risked everything to give Dean a chance to stop Lucifer's rise, but their efforts ultimately failed. Sam Winchester, who'd been manipulated by the demon Ruby and had his psychic abilities maxed-out from the demon blood he drank, went to kill Lilith(the demon responsible for trying to break all of the seals) despite warnings that it was Dean that was meant to do so. Little did Sam know that his killing Lilith actually WAS the final seal to be broken, and his doing so allowed the devil himself to rise and walk the earth.
So now they're in a bit of a fix. Well, all of humanity is, actually. Lucifer is walking the earth in his own vessel, and Castiel himself has now fully turned his back on Heaven. He and the Winchesters seem to have found themselves in the midst of an all-out war, with both sides warring to begin the apocalypse for their own purposes...but Dean, Sam, and Cas? They're 'Team Free Will'. Fighting against both Heaven and Hell for the sake of humanity itself - not that Castiel's too happy about the way things have turned out, but there's no changing them now.
Reason for being on AM: To put an end to anything that looks vaguely evil or apocalyptic, to find a way to kill Lucifer - and to ultimately to find out exactly what is going on in heaven, and why God seems to have up and ditched them all.

He is accustomed to perfection, and the concept of being imperfect - human - is very foreign to him. He's still struggling a bit, but has come a long way even in the past year - mostly thanks to the Winchesters.
Powers/Abilities:
- Enhanced strength - Just like a demon, an angel has strength many times that of a human when posessing its vessel. Castiel can pretty much throw people around like they're rag dolls.
He thinks it's pretty cool. - Telekinesis - All Castiel has to do is fix an object with his supah-intense stare and he can move said object(s)...with his mind! When he's really ticked, whole rooms full of stuff might start flying around Toto-We're-Not-In-Kansas-Anymore style.
- Teleportation - For lack of a better word. It's more like...mysteriously appearing from the shadows rather than a sudden pop! You can usually tell when he's coming - a light wind and flickering lights are the first signs, though if he really, really needs to he can make his approach a bit more subtle. It's also possible for Castiel to bring someone along for the ride - though this has been described as being a bit uncomfortable for the co-pilot.
- Invisibility - He isn't all Harry Potter and his Invisibility Cloak where he can just push you around like some unseen ghost. He can't make physical contact when invisible. He just...sort of makes himself unnoticeable long enough to listen in on something when he needs to. ...Basically, it's the super-powered angelic version of lurking.
- Invulnerability - Not...from everything, obviously. There are things that can and will harm an angel. Regular weapons like guns, knives and of course basic attacks like punches and kicks(assuming you don't have super-strength) don't pose much of a chance of stopping him though. He's also resistant to disease, demonic possession, and some forms of dark corrupting magic. All of this is due to the fact that he has the ability to heal most forms of physical harm that come to his vessel. He used to be able to heal others as well, but seems to have lost that ability since being cut off from Heaven.
- Sedation - By placing two fingers to a being's forehead, Castiel can render them temporarily unconscious. However, this isn't always guaranteed to work. It can prove ineffective if either Cas isn't concentrating as hard as he should be, or if the person he's using it on happens to have particularly strong mental defenses.
- Amazing Automatic Exorcisms! - One touch to a demon and he can send them hurtling out of their vessel and right back to hell. And for lower-level demons, he can actually kill them. This ability has some limitations as well - depending on the strength of the demon in question it may not be successful.
- Supernatural Perception - Castiel is, well...quite a bit more aware of the world around him than your average Joe would be. He can usually tell when he's in the presence of another supernatural being (though if it's not another angel, it requires physical contact to do so), and he can also see things that humans cannot...such as ghosts, reapers, etc.
- Telepathy - One minute you're walking along minding your own business and then...BAM! Castiel's voice in your head! Just what you need, eh? This is strictly for communication purposes. He can't just peek into your mind and read all your thoughts, if that's any comfort.
- Time Travel - He can indeed travel back and forward through time. Time travel is not something Castiel takes lightly, however, and he will rarely do it unless the situation is dire. ...In fact, now that he's no longer backed by Heaven time travel is actually extremely difficult for him to do. It's only used in rare cases.
- Voice Mimicry - The ability to mimic any human voice. Don't call him a parrot. You'll get a stern, disapproving look if you do.
- Soul-Channeling - If Cas needs an extra boost, he can actually draw power from the souls of people around him. A rare and dangerous tactic, but it usually works.
- Necessities of Life...Not-So-Necessary - Neither Castiel nor his vessel (while possessed) actually need to eat, drink, or sleep. He can, but he doesn't need to. He also has an incredibly high tolerance for alcohol - he can literally consume an entire liquor store before even becoming tipsy.
- Memory Manipulation - Castiel can take away, restore, or alter certain memories that a person may have. Though...they may get these back over time.
- Resurrection - Yes, Castiel can resurrect the dead - though not with just a snap of his fingers. He actually has to enter either heaven or hell and yank a soul right outta there, which given his current circumstances would not be a particularly advisable move for him right now. And even if he could do this easily, he wouldn't. Death is not something to be toyed with in his opinion, and resurrecting someone is only permitted under extremely unique circumstances.
Equipment: Dude, Cas can barely work a cell phone.
Weaknesses
Psychological Flaws:
- Decisions, Decisions... - Castiel isn't really used to making his own decisions or having his own free will. As such, he'll often look to others for guidance - having no superiors to dictate what he does leaves him uncertain and at a bit of a loss on many occasions. He pretty much looks to Dean for orders these days.
- A Promise is a Promise - Castiel's word is very valuable to him. If he swears something, you can be almost certain he'll stick to his word. On the rare occasion when it seems he has to break a promise, he'll become very conflicted...and in some cases, is even incapable of doing so.
- Humanity - He's starting to experience it more and more, and yet he has no idea what any of it really means. Emotions are a whole new deal to him, but he does feel them...and in a way, this weakens him. The empathy and loyalty he feels toward humanity and the bonds he's taken to forming with people are very easily exploited.
- Awkwaaaaard - In a word, describes most of Castiel's human interactions. He's very stiff and strange when it comes to casual conversation, and it's very easy to tell that he isn't exactly normal - and, if you were the kind of person who believes in the supernatural, you'd probably be able to tell that he isn't human either.
- Pride - Said to be the most fatal of the seven deadly sins, and unfortunately it is one that Castiel happens to be prone to. His pride can often times blind him and prove to be quite dangerous for him if he allows it to overcome him.
- It's not all black and white.. - Something that Castiel sometimes has difficulty realizing. As an angel, he pretty much sees people one of two ways - good, or evil. Humans are the exception, the 'gray area', but where creatures like demons, vampires, and the like are concerned...it's sometimes difficult for him to believe that not all of them are completely soulless and evil.
Physical Flaws:
- You Dun Goofed, Cas - Castiel pretty much up and ditched Heaven, so yeah. At this point he's not as powerful as another angel might be.
- Holy Oil - As an angel, Castiel is vulnerable to flaming holy oil. It's effect on him is similar to salt on a demon; he is incapable of crossing over it. If it encircles him he will be trapped, and if it's formed in a line he will be unable to pass it.
- Angelic Exorcisms! - Yes, these ARE possible. If you know the right Latin chants, you can kick Castiel right out of his vessel and back up into Heaven. Which is a place he most definitely doesn't want to be just now, seeing as he's gone rogue.
- True Form - His true angelic form is, quite bluntly, kind of a pain in the ass. Most people are unable to look upon him without being blinded, and his voice tends to...literally make people's ears bleed. Very problematic given that he has absolutely no control over who this effects, so it's vital that he sticks to his vessel.
- BE GONE! - Just do a bit of research and you'll find that there are certain symbols that, when drawn in human blood, will banish Castiel from a place and keep him from returning for a good long while. On the subject of symbols, there are plenty of others that are effective against him. Some keep him from entering a place, some make him unable to sense the whereabouts of people protected by them, the list goes on...
- Angelic Weapons - Weapons like blades fashioned specifically to take down an angel, or those that are pretty much capable of taking down ANYTHING (like The Colt) are more than effective against him.
Other Flaws:
- "This isn't funny! The voice says I'm almost out of minutes!" - Yeah um, as far as modern day technology goes...Cas is pretty clueless. You don't wanna hand him a gun...or...even leave him alone with a microwave for that matter. Bad things will happen.
- He also has three other weaknesses - and their names are Dean and Sam Winchester, and Bobby Singer. The closest things to human friends that Cas has.

Sample RP:
What was the point of this? All of these humans intermingling in one place? They seemed to genuinely enjoy each other's company, which...well, which was just fine by him as long as they kept the noise down to a dull roar. As of yet, it didn't look like even that was going to happen. He wore a contemplative frown as he stared around the club from his seat at the bar, at the people drinking and dancing and blasting their outrageously loud music. And they said angel voices made one's eardrums burst. This music they were playing seemed to be getting close to doing just that. Maybe angels were the ones singing. Angels with...electric guitars...and ripped clothing, spikey hair and obscene amounts of eyeliner.
"Why do they darken the outline of their eyes?" Castiel wondered aloud upon observing this. "I was under the impression that it was only females who practiced that sort of thing." He'd just been musing aloud, not really directing his inquiry at anyone in particular...but, as it happened, he was answered none the less by a tall brunette woman seated a little ways down the bar. "It's called guyliner, chuckles." the woman remarked in amusement, giving him the peculiar sort of look that humans gave each other whenever something struck them as odd. Castiel turned to stare blankly at her, unaware up until now that this woman had overheard him - or had been anywhere near enough to him to do so, for that matter.
"Guyliner." The angel repeated, pondering the word as if it were some phrase from an ancient forgotten language that made no sense to him. Humans, strange as they could be, were admittedly very informative sometimes. He'd been out for less than a half hour and had already received some valuable information: guyliner was different from eyeliner, and was therefore acceptable for men to wear. Though...he'd never seen Dean or Sam wear it. He'd have to ask them about why they weren't participating in what seemed to be the latest 'fashion trend' that these humans enjoyed flipping through so frequently, but that could wait for later. For now, his questions would be directed at this woman - she struck him as a reliable source of information for human customs, even if she was still giving him that funny look. "Why do they wear it?" Castiel inquired of her, his brow furrowing in concentration as he attempted to make sense of it all.
"It's a punk rock thing. Wouldn't really expect a guy like you to understand."
"Why not?" Castiel replied gruffly, unsure what she meant by 'a guy like him' and whether or not to be offended by this. Perhaps she'd sensed somehow that he wasn't human, and it was this that she had just referenced. Perhaps.
The woman laughed a little at his confusion. "You just...don't seem like the type. Nice trench-coat, by the way." she added with a smirk.
He raised his eyebrows at her before glancing down at the long overcoat he wore. He rather liked it, to be honest, and wasn't altogether displeased to find someone who seemed to agree with him. Dean had always described it as 'creepy', but then again maybe that was just one of his jokes... "Thank you." Castiel answered somberly, adjusting the collar of the trench-coat a bit. He felt the spontaneous need to return the compliment; wasn't that the sort of thing that was expected in these human interactions? He looked her over quickly, cynically taking note of her low-cut dress and high-heeled shoes, before making up his mind to comment. "I...like your dress." Well, no he didn't, not particularly - human clothing and style didn't really faze him one way or the other, but he felt the compliment was needed none the less.
The response he received wasn't exactly what he'd been expecting, however. Unbeknownst to him, the woman had interpreted the way he'd run his eyes over her body a bit differently than the way he'd meant it. And apparently her interpretation of his tentative comment was a little different as well. Because the next thing she knew she was giving him an indignant scowl and a a quick scoffing, "Don't even think about it pal. I have a boyfriend." before promptly picking up her drink and moving away to one of the tables halfway across the room. Castiel...just blinked. What had happened there? With a puzzled frown, he turned his gaze on the bartender and narrowed his eyes slightly. "Did I say something inappropriate?" he asked uncertainly.
The bartender just shook his head and passed him a bottle of beer. "On the house, buddy." was his only response before he turned away to deal with another customer, chuckling quietly to himself. The angel scowled down at the bottle for a moment, taking note for what was probably the millionth time that humans were very, very strange creatures - before shrugging and putting the bottle to his lips to take a swig.
