Category: Original Character
Name: Edyth Lostetter
Alias: Deadlock
Age: Unknown
Ranking: Anti-Hero (She is a good person, but not all of those she calls family are good people, and her perception of good and evil is a little skewed. She's playing guardian angel for her neighborhood, protecting people from gangs, the mob, and any comer. She prefers not to kill... but if she feels she has to, to ensure the safety of people she cares about... She will.
Physical Appearance:
Deadlock stands at nine feet tall, built like a tank. While Iron Man's armor is a graceful looking affair, a picture of efficiency, Deadlock is a lot less sleek and beautiful. For one hand, the suit has a powerful claw noted to be able to launch out like a grappling hook, and easily tear through iron plating several inches thick. For the other, Deadlock has a pod with interchangable weaponry options. It dwarfs a normal human being completely.
The armor gains a good bit of agility from a back mounted rocket pack, two armored, rotating nozzles granting it the ability to provide thrust in any direction desired except backward - which is provided by simpler thrusters more predictably placed on the bottom of its feet. From there, microthrusters provide fine aerial control. The combination of thrusting systems let the suit execute jumps and short flights with catlike agility despite its immense size.
The red armor and orange hazard markings on the machine give it a distinct, war-hewn kind of look. It is a prototype, however... a first working model from a brilliant mind. A lot like that picture. Except a lot junkier.
Edyth Lostetter herself is a pale young woman likely around the age of nineteen that dresses in drag - that is to say, she dresses like and pretends to be male, her hair dyed a wild royal blue, vibrant and done up in a mohawk ordinarily. Leather seems to be a theme, as does denim and patches of a lot of random materials.
Personality: Edyth Is a diamond in the rough, a good person among a tribe of complete bastards, murderous assholes, and psychopaths. The streets of gotham have not been kind to her and hers. So she's a bit rough around the edges... She respects her elders, she's not particularly proud, and she's not bat-shit insane - good starts, from someone of her background.
Still looking for that second chance...
Powers/Abilities:
Deadlock Armor, Mark I: the Deadlock power armor is nothing short of a monster, a testament of Edyth's genius and ingenuity, considering it is constructed of secondhand parts. Weapons? Interesting at best - an -industrial grade nailgun (The default weapon on the right arm),
-Two homemade dumbfire rocket launchers (shoulder mounted),
-a grapple claw on the left arm
-A homemade flamethrower (for an alternate weapon pod)
Hercules!: The suit is strong enough to lift (and throw) a police car with relative ease, or, for example, pitch it like a javelin into an armored truck. It is agile enough to put its size to good use against human sized targets.
Tank!: Despite being a prototype with little sophistication, it is not a fragile machine. Where some rely on agility and pure offensive prowess with their power armor, Deadlock can subsist on sheer, unadulterated toughness. Deadlock earned its name for withstanding ungodly amounts of punishment and doling it out in spades. It is a walking urban tank on two legs.
Tiger Jumps Through Fire: Deadlock has a limited (though recharging) capacity to employ a robust set of jets that can let it move with enhanced, almost catlike agility, even take to the air in brief bursts, hurtling through the air at around a hundred and fifty miles an hour. Deadlock best employs these limited thrusters in bursts - to gain sudden bursts of momentum, to dodge, to add a little extra oomph to a movement.
Wild Talent: Deadlock made her own power armor from junkyard scraps, powers it with a theoretical power system of her own creation, and is a skilled user of her own terrible creation. She's a genius- and it seeps into many aspects of her life. She's a brilliant inventor, and makes a lot of things to make her life and the lives of others around her better, from rigged shotguns to alarm clocks ^^; Give her a collection of scrap metal and electronics, and she can put together a lot of neat shit. She's not an engineer - she just... understands, intrinsically, without any formal training.
Street Fighter: Deadlock is a skilled brawler, and this translates well to the power armor. Leaving few openings, hitting where it hurts, making use of advantages to best advantage, be that a knife, a pistol, or a suit of superpowered armor.
Remote Control: Thats right. she can call the damn thing to her - she always did have a flair for the dramatic... this more often than not draws a lot of attention, uses up a good deal of jump power, but damn if its not a flashy entrance...
Equipment: You mean apart from the suit itself and the stuff she used to build the damn thing...? She owns a pistol and clothes, and sort of owns a junk yard of sorts...
Psychological Flaws: Edyth comes from a broken family in a bad part of Gotham. She's seen how deep the darkness goes, stared the devil in the face and come out alive. It's had an effect on her, make no mistake. She isn't well educated, and hasn't had the benefit of a stable family or safety for most of her life.
Physical Flaws: Apart from being a mere mortal without the power armor, Deadlock is not a sophisticated piece of tech with advanced sensors or special weapons designed for it - it is a work in progress, a beta, a prototype. . As such, it is substandard when compared directly to other superpowered armors.
Other Flaws:In another world, under different circumstances she might have been another Tony Stark or Crimson Dynamo. In this gritty, cruel world, she has had to make do with what she has access to. This, regrettably has led her and her alter-identity to both be criminals - wanted by the police in Gotham.
Edyth has her own enemies - people mess with her gang on almost a weekly basis - its punk of the week. The mob, superasses (supervillains), and vigilantes (Batman!) give them a lot of grief. Edyth is the brains providing for her family, while her alter ego, Deadlock, is their guardian angel against threats they can't handle themselves, and a super identity she uses to do the best she can. A lot of people want both of them dead.
Brief History: Edyth was born to a teenage mother who died in childbirth with her, and was entrusted to her uncle. He was a drunk, but he did what he could for the girl, and managed to keep her in school as long as he could before she got tied up in a local gang of young people her age.
To survive on the street, she learned to fight, to shoot a gun, how to get the good stuff from a dumpster and how to steal. Among that, though, she learned to listen to her elders (always something new to teach, a neat story to tell), to be loyal (when your friends and family are all you have, you rely on them and they rely on you), to be honest (Lies can get you shot), and to respect your enemies (Never know who has the gun - somebody always does. Starting a fight gets people killed - people like you).
Edyth has always been a technophile, with a knack for fixing things - from old lady pommer's radio down the street for a sandwitch to the TV so you can watch that one channel you get in clearly. She developed a reputation as a sharp kid, and the gang she ran with began to rely on her - who else to fix up that VCR they stole last night or hotwire that car? With her help, they got their feet on the ground.
By the time she was fourteen, she'd seen the nuts and bolts of over a hundred different makes and models of car, and knew them back and forward. She was making weapons from scrap and armor plating cruisers when most kids were freshmen in school. It was around this time that she began work on... something that just began to fall from her hands.
It isn't clear when she crafted her first Icarus engine - the device was big, built into a car's dismantled engine, but there was no doubting in her mind what she'd done - she'd made a breakthrough. She opted to not share her creation - to keep it away from people who would steal it from her, who would call it their own.
She had plans for that reactor.
Since creating it, she has refined her creation into smaller, more efficient forms and eventually got it to a size and weight that was practical for a crazy idea she had. Crazies like Batman were inspiring... who is to argue? She wanted to fight crime, to put the hurting on those mobster fucks that rubbed her friends' face in the dirt, to be able to tell assholes like the Joker to get fucked, to tell the cops to go choke on something.
She finished a working prototype... and taken on a name. Deadlock was born. So far, her appearances have been brief, limited - Scuffles with police, a shootout or two with mobsters... but now that a zombie apocalypse is at hand...
Reason for being on AM: She's a child of Gotham City - a budding superpowered inventor of no small genius in a gang of miscreants. Now that the zombie apocalypse is at hand, could she have a chance to redeem herself, become a hero? Or will she be a step away from the dark side, a vigilante forevermore?
