Name: Alexander J. Mercer
Alias: Zeus, the Blacklight Virus, 'It'
Age: Alex Mercer died at twenty-nine years old. The virus replicated Mercer down to the cellular level and is currently three weeks old.
Ranking: Anti-Hero
Physical Appearance:
Alex has blue eyes and a dark brown, flat-top hairstyle which cannot be seen in the provided picture.
Personality: Unarguably, Mercer is a fearsome predator. He is unforgiving, relentless, and distant when it comes to paying back those who have crossed him. Although people may betray him, due to their fear of his deadly abilities, Mercer is not that type of person. He is far from friendly, though. Despite his intelligence and powers, Mercer will seek help from others in order to complete his own objectives. Some many call these actions selfish, but he would call it professionalism.
It is worth noting that Mercer is far from a mindless animal bent on blood and vengeance. He possesses intelligence of a superior level that was not affected by the Blacklight virus recreating him, other than his memory being wiped clean. Before, he excelled in the field of genetics, and with his memories intact, he resumes his super-intelligent capacity.
Alex is also quite devoid of emotions, keeping himself from developing a close attachment to others because of his low trust for others. As aforementioned, his only relations with anyone besides his sister, Dana Mercer, is completely professional in order to achieve his objectives. However, those who do manage to get on his positive side will have a friend for life. Despite his trust issues, proving oneself that they can be trusted is enough.
Powers/Abilities:
Equipment: None
Psychological Flaws: Revenge plagued Alex's mind before his death. Now, it fuels his other emotions. To this end, his taste for vengeance can cause him to lose connections with the ones he loves. On the other hand, those who he cares about are also a top priority, and if put into danger, can jeopardize his chances of completing said objective. If not danger that creates separation, it is the fact Alex is a sociopath and hardly converses with others unless directly spoken to. To that end, he is still a man of little words.
Physical Flaws: Although Alex is still human, in a sense, his anatomy allows for enormous amounts of damage to be done. In a general sense, it takes an excessive and continuous amount of ongoing damage to kill Mercer. It is important to note that Mercer can still feel pain inflicted upon him, though it rarely hinders his abilities. Subsequently, Zeus will dispatch of his assailants to avoid death. If biomass is available near him as well, he can increase his healing factor greatly, and prolong his death.
Certain parasites seem to be able to suppress most of Mercer's abilities. However, knowing the exact genetic code of the Blacklight virus and locating the genetic material makes this weakness rare to occur.
Other Flaws: None
Brief History: Alexander J. Mercer lived in poverty. His mother made the situation no better. While she spent nine years in prison, Alex spent the same amount in foster care. When she was finally released, Alex was ten years old, and sent back to live with his mother. She had a serious drinking problem, which drove her husband away through divorce. Alex was determined to leave his poverty-stricken life behind him. His intellect in the sciences made him excel greatly, though, by the time he reached Columbia University, he was a borderline sociopath.
He graduated and earned a doctorate in genetics. No sooner, he was hired by GENTEK to head the production of the Blacklight project. His team concentrated on developing engineered weaponized viruses. From these viruses, his team created a virulent and lethal virus called the Blacklight virus. Alex's expertise in genetics slowly unlocked this virus by ten in three years.
However, Congress soon conducted investigations into GENTEK, which made an elite and secretive army called Blackwatch ready to shut down the Blacklight project. With the help of his sister, Alex found out that Blacklight workers or those associated with the project were being silenced. He was not ready to be caught and fled the scene, but not without stowing a dose of the Blacklight virus with him for insurance. Blackwatch, however, was steps ahead, and cornered him in a subway. Before Alex was shot to death, he intentionally dropped and released the virus. His corpse was reanimated from the cellular level, replicating Alex Mercer into Zeus, the virus itself.
On the morgue slab in GENTEK, he awakened without any recollection of who he was and what happened. Gradually, he regained his memory by absorbing and killing many people that lead to the horrific truth: he caused the biological apocalypse, infecting the denizens of Manhattan. Blackwatch's final decision was to bomb the city in a last ditch effort, foiled by Mercer when he cast it into the sea. Saving New York, he now works to clean up the mess he made, until a new wave of strain enters Manhattan, and New York as a whole.
Reason for being on AM: Me? It's an interesting site with an interesting plot and concept, along with a very desirable cast for role-players. Zeus? To uncover the truth about the recent outbreak, end the outbreak, and the person(s) responsible.
Sample RP: Zeus prodded the severe open flesh wound located at his abdomen. He winced slightly, though he suffered much worse in the past couple days. Slowly, but surely, that and his missing left arm were regenerating. Within those past few days, a new plague permeated through the streets of Manhattan. Before long, news reached his ears about the entire New York area receding into another biological apocalypse. Blackwatch assumed it was another attack by Zeus. This was inaccurate. Zeus itself could not stumble upon the reason.
His only lead was discovered two days ago, when he brutally attacked and consumed a Blackwatch soldier. Apparently there was a massive explosion on an island someways apart from the mainland. Since the soldier was low in ranking, possibly eavesdropping on the conversation, Mercer did not possess all the details. However, it was better than nothing at all.
Standing up from the skyscraper, the flesh wound closed and his left arm regenerated. Manhattan's appearance degraded over time. Zeus wanted answers. He needed to see Dr. Ragland immediately. He leaned forward over the edge, descending head-first to the ground. A determined expression scorned his face, tormented by someone's else doing ruining his progression into fixing what he had done wrong.

Powers/Abilities:
- Superhuman abilities: Due to the Blacklight virus, or DX-1118 strain replicating Mercer's entire anatomy when he was fatally shot to death, it has granted him superhuman abilities in many compartments.
Although he is not knowledgeable in various fighting styles, Mercer's enhanced strength makes him a lethal close-combatant. Humans, zombies, literally any being (that does not possess a reinforced interior or exterior) that stands before him is susceptible to Mercer punching a hole straight through them. He can even pick up tanks and throw them with relative ease. His enhanced durability is enough to withstand multiple blows of the highest magnitude, even descending from the greatest heights. However, he is not invincible, though he possesses regenerative abilities that is active whenever he is not taking damage.
Mercer's speed and agility were enhanced as well. His top speed can reach to that of 60 mph, nearly as fast as an automobile. His agility is also peaked greatly, able to leap several story buildings, an entire city block, and perform exceptional, flawless parkour skills to evade various obstacles. Additionally, he can scale perfect vertical walls and cling to walls for an indefinite amount of time. - Biomass: Mercer's primary ability surrounding others is the ability to consume the biomass, or organic matter of living creatures. He utilizes this to boost his health rapidly, literally replicate the creature he consumed down to their memories and abilities, and if he consumes excessive biomass, unleash it in the form of devastator attacks. Additionally, this biomass can be formed to any part of his body to form deadly weapons and defenses. He can also expel small amounts of biomass when falling to glide, though he gradually starts to lose this momentum.
- Vision: Besides the normal human sight, Alex can alternate between thermal vision and infected vision, where he can detect any concentrations of a virus, whether it be his own or another.
- Adaptation: True to his predatory trait, Alex has the ability to adapt to harmful conditions when exposed for prolonged amounts of time.
