Long has it been since the days of Naruto Uzumaki. Recent fights passed into story. Story into legend. Legend into myth. The heroes of old are nothing now but children's stories, and even then there is seldom little reality to them. A fateful two-hundred years have come and gone since the death of the last of the Uzumaki clan. Though with prosperity and peace slowly finding it's way into the hearts of the people all across the world, people found seldom need for the Shinobi.
Villages prospered and grew wealthy, and soon found that the Shinobi that they had once relied on were outliving their usefulness. The Kage's were nothing but figureheads, often unimportant in the dealings of day-to-day life. As such, the schools were disbanded, the Kage's dethroned, and the tailed beasts simply dismissed as folklore. Some swore that they still roamed the land, but none had seen one in over a century, they were presumed long dead or that they had never existed in the first place.
This peace was believed to be the end of all wars, strife, and hatred. But there were those who knew it would not last, could not last, for humankind was not such a simple race. Shinobi, though not the leading force in the world, maintained some semblance of power. Those who showed the proper dedication and talent were taught in secret by those who were once revered, likened even to gods among men. And so the Shinobi tradition survived, thrived even in the background of society, but they kept hidden, laying in wait for the inevitable upheaval.
And that time did come, long after the change in the world. Whispers of war reached the ears of peace-loving citizens, and they were afraid. In all directions spanned a vast world, how could they trust everyone around them? They couldn't, was the answer, they feared them. This war, this great hatred, was unknown to those born into peace and bred by it, it was something entirely foreign to them, and they feared it immensely. Some began calling for the old ways to return, for the Shinobi. There were those who feared them long gone, but slowly they returned.
At first only a few of the glory-seekers, able to accomplish small feats of strength, but to those who had never known their ways, they were like demons. And over time, more and more powerful shinobi came forward, making themselves known to the populace. In time even those who would have once been called Kage's reappeared, seeking to take their rightful place at the throne of each village. And those who were afraid rejoiced, having found in these people some semblance of safety.
And so slowly, the villages returned to their old ways, paying homage to those with the gift of Ninjutsu. It was as it once was, though many had shifted. Some of the older clans resurfaced, bringing with them their incredible gifts. But with old blood came old rivalry. Though the semblance of safety had returned, the fear of the outside world had not. Others could not be trusted, surely? Soon alliances were forged between various nations, those that the nations believed they could trust. And others were branded as enemies. And though the enemies did not actively do battle, more often than not they felt near the boiling point of war.
With the ever rising levels of hostility and imbalance in the world, it seemed nature deemed it time to throw more chaos into the mix. One by one the tailed beasts emerged from around the world, causing massive damage wherever they went. Soon enough the tradition of Jinchuuriki reappeared to help keep the beasts in check, and almost everything was as it once was long ago...
It comes now to the Shinobi to keep the peace of the world, lest the world yet again descend into the darkness of an all-out war.
Can you help prevent utter apocalypse?
