Name: Colton Diethal
Alias:
Age: 23
Ranking: Law Enforcement
Physical Appearance:
Sharp and thin would be the best ways to describe Colton. He is of average height with a thin build. His muscles are not very large but they are hard and strong, built for moving. His corded arms end in strong hands and nimble fingers. Thin lines trace along his stomach and hips.
His face is very angular with dark brown eyes and a straight nose. He has soft medium length black hair, with long bangs that end just above his eyes, softening the otherwise harsh lines of his face and giving his eyes a slightly brooding quality.
During combat he wears a pair of motorcycle racing leathers. The jacket and pants are lined with Kevlar. He also has a black full helmet with a dark visor, there is Kevlar in this also.
When not wearing motorcycle leathers his clothes are pretty normal, though he hates wearing shorts. He prefers jeans, not too loose but not awkwardly tight, and, depending on the weather, either long-sleeved or short-sleeved shirts. Or, no shirt at all.
Personality:
Colton is a very logical individual. He is detail oriented and generally picks up on things that other people would miss. He has an excellent memory. He holds the Laws and traditions very highly but he will go against them if he thinks it's necessary. While he generally prefers some sort of plan, he understands that plans don’t always go accordingly and so he's good at improvising. He is a natural leader and is willing to step up when called on.
At times, usually when under stress, he has trouble putting his feelings into words. He can also be very critical of others as he expects them to be as capable as himself. He also has trouble with being too blunt and sometimes he ends up hurting someones feelings more than helping. Still Colton can be a caring and, sometimes, loving individual.
Powers/Abilities:
Strengths:
Athletic: Colton possesses the strength sufficient to lift his own body weight, a whopping 135 lbs. He is nimble and quick. He has near-perfect vision and is highly accurate and precise with firearms.
Intelligence: He is a fairly successful private investigator, you don't get there by being a doofus.
Mental Defense: He has trained to guard his thoughts from mind readers. It won’t stop a powerful or persistent foe but it will give him some time to retaliate in a more physical way.
Weapons/ Equipment:
CVO Street Glide Harley: His primary means of transportation. The Street Glide comes equiped with saddlebags to hold all his goodies.
Colt Anaconda: The gun was his fathers before he died.
The frame is made of stainless steel with a brushed finish. The length of the barrel is 8 inches and the overall length is 13-5/8 inches. It's calibrated for the .44 magnum and has a six round capacity. The recoil is an assertive but manageable rise of the muzzle, as the bulk of the gun absorbs most of it. He carries a number of moonclips, with both normal and specialty rounds. He wears this on a holster strapped to his right thigh.
Walther P99: The standard issue gun for the SAPD. He wears it in a holster hidden inside his motorcycle jacket.
Caliber:9x19mm
Length overall: 180mm
Barrel length : 102mm
Capacity: 16 rounds
Pistol Grip Pump-Action Shotgun: You know all those stories they tell? They're true.
(images not drawn to scale)
Specialty Bullets: Once he realized the world of badness out there, he changed his arsenal to include special rounds calibrated to attack the weaknesses of the most common supernatural beings.
Silver: Silver plated rounds to be used against Were-animals and Changelings. He also carries three or four moonclips for his revolver with silver plated bullets.
Dogwood Bullet: Bullets fashioned from dogwood to attack vampires. The only problem is that the wood has a lower velocity than a lead bullet. this means that the shooter has to get closer to the target to allow the bullet to penetrate. but when it does hit the bullet splinters and can cause untold damage to the vampire.
Dragon Breath specialty shotgun round: A shotgun round that fires a two meter spout of flame. These shells are primarily used against Vampires.
Armor: He wears a pair of black motorcycle leathers and a full visored helmet. Protected by Kevlar.
Physical Flaws:
Human: Do I really need to say more?
Psychological Flaws: Seduction: At his age he has hormones bouncing off the walls. Anything with two legs and a sex appeal can get under his skin.
Other Flaws: His mental defenses are not terribly strong and are really only there to by him some time.
Brief History:
His parents were Mortimer and Sharon Diethal. Mortimer was a respected historian at the University specializing in the history of the Muslim world. Sharon was a professor of Linguistics. They fell in love despite the fact that Mortimer was ten years older than Sharon and had a child. They were a happy family, Mortimer and Sharon gently pushed their son to succeed at whatever he was doing at the time. Thirteen years later Mortimer and Sharon died, killed in the crossfire of a fight between Vampires and Werewolves.
After that Mortimer was taken in by Father Callahan, a priest at the Church of the White Angel. There he lived and studied with other orphans. Eventually he decided to try college. There he studied business, but after two years he dropped out and joined the police.
But only an idiot would think that the life of a police officer was glamorous. Colton served as an officer of the law, doing good police work and watching as his academy-mates politicked up the ranks. He could have lived with that, but not with what happened next.
It was a house alarm, one of those new ones that use radio signals. When it went off, the police were notified. As the closest officer present Colton was sent to investigate. He found a vampire feeding on a young woman. A little more that freaked out, he shot at the vampire, the vampire escaped and the police never caught him. When Colton filed his report, the higher-ups thought that he must be stressed and overworked so they put him on leave with a therapist. Unlike most people Colton clung to the truth about what he had seen. Because of this the force ‘relieved him of duty’. Which is a fancy way of saying ‘he got fired’.
Being the studious person that he is, Colton began to study and came to the conclusion that Vampires are real… and if vampires are real, what else could be real? It didn’t take Colton long before he finally stumbled onto a hunter, who indoctrinated him into the life. Colton has opened up a supernatural investigations website which he owns and operates with great difficulty from home. Most see it as nothing more than the work of an overzealous horror fan, but those who know or those desperate enough see it for what it really is; a beacon of light, in the darkness of the void.
Reason for being on AM: To protect the world from the terrors of the night.
Sample RP:
Colton parked his Motorcycle outside of the bar. A relatively prominent (if you know who to ask) vampire bar owned by Jonothan Millton, a portly colonial vampire. Dismounting the bike, Colton opened the door.
Inside, the spacious bar was designed in the rustic fashion of Colonial America, the inside was all wood, with a stone fireplace cackling merrily on the far end of the room, a wooden bar in the center of the room and small round tables were scattered evenly around the room. A stair case went upwards to private rooms and Jonothans quarters.
As Colton entered the sounds died away, but as he walked towards the bar the vampires went back to their conversations and mugs of warm blood, or whatever they were drinking.
Colton sat down at the bar. "Hey Jono, how's business?"
Jono glanced up from the glass he was cleaning, a sour look on his face. "You want something."
"Just some information, I'm looking for the vampire Colonal William Winghamm. He come here often?
The portly vampire put the glass down and and made pretend that he thought Colton was out of his mind. ".Lood kid, I don’t know what kinda game you’re playin’, but take it out side.
Colton drummed his fingers on the bar. Then he sighed, got up, and walked out. He walked briskly to his motorcycle, a small, sleek beastie. On it's right side hung a long holster for his shotgun. He drew it from it's holster and worked the pump, chambering a round.
Inside the bar, the many vampires began muttering restlessly. Until Colton kicked the door open, then they were quiet. Colton stalked into the bar, the heavy door shutting behind him. He gazed down the barrel of the shotgun. "This is the kind of game I‘m playing, Jono."
The results were instantanious. Every vampire in the bar rose from their seats. Growling, fangs extended, ready for a fight. One rushed at Colton. The shotgun roared, spewing white hot pieces of metal trailed by a spout of flame. The vampire stopped and backpedaled as the fire lapped at his clothes, one of his fellows was kind enough to put him out with a splash of blood. Colton chambered a new round and turned the gun on Jono. "Now are you gonna answer me, or do I have to get frisky?"
