Ok...so the zombie population was dropping and that meant more normal, functioning organs and that only meant one thing...happy demon nurse lady was happy and in a good mood! So she decided to visit a shop in a part of the city that wasn't too screwed up aside from the bunches of snow here and there. Admittedly, snow fall was kinda nice...almost made her wanna open up an ice cream shop...anyway she was walking along with a pair of high heeled boots of a light tan hue except she was wearing a stylish, white button up coat trimmed with the same color as her boots meant for snowy conditions complete with a hood as well. For a change, the woman with crimson painted lips actually had her hair under control and it wasn't as crazy and poofy. As a matter of fact it was straightened and had a few spikes here and there like a tame, sleeker version of her normal hair do. With a pair of petite oval glasses resting at the bridge of her nose, she carefully brought a pale, leather glove clad hand trimmed with white up to lightly push her index and middle digits against the silver framed glasses in place before placing her hand back at its side just like the other one. Instead of looking like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man like some people out there, she managed to look elegant in her choice of winter wear.
Yep, even that lovely ivory skirt barely grazing her knees managed to flow nicely with the coat as though to compliment it. Of course anyone trying to get a glance of a panty shot would fail miserably since she was wearing thick, white leggings. Lightly pushing open the door, the first thing she heard being yelled out was simply "WHO PUT THE GOAT IN THERE?!" in a masculine tone and a giddy yet confused squeaky sounding woman saying "...the yellow goat I ate?" from a direction that seemed to be the kitchen. OKIE DOKIE THEN! Tanzanite simply smiled while walking into the variety bun focused shop called `Benny's Loony Bun`. They had tons of things and it was a pretty good lunch spot, or so she heard. Y'know save for the weird things that had a tendency to happen here.
Some people said the workers randomly and quite abnormally quick to change their attire somehow when no one was looking and acted like it was normal...these were her kinda people! She'd fit in fine and dandy here rather than get some funky look just because she pulled a lollipop out of her sleeves or something. `How'd that get there` didn't always cut it apparently. Oh well! It was set up like a fast food restaurant where the ordering counter was at the back and all those cute tables and booths were in the front with a little hall way guiding to the kitchen and bathrooms. Except there were little menus on each table so customers could sit and decide or even take one with them since these folks were gutsy enough to do take out. Anyone who still delivered with the undead out and about here and there DEFINITELY deserved lots of credit and business so she'd definitely offer her patronage. Wandering on over to an empty booth, she slid her pretty little demon butt in the seat and plucked up one of the menus and looked it over with her amber optics that had a peculiar blue tint to them.
"Hn...so many choices...what to order what to order~..." Thoughtfully saying those words to herself in a soft tone, a janitor wearing a yellow jumpsuit drifted on by while mopping the floors sing songing the words "You need a bun to bite, Benny Lavaaa~!" as though it should go with the flow of some trippy Indian pop song. Hm...oddly catchy...maybe it was part of their jingle or something? Definitely got her humming along!

It was not uncommon for geniuses to struggle with things, even things that most would consider simplistic. Einstein, for example, was said to not even be able to tie his own shoes or ride a bicycle until late into his life. But he created the theory of relativity from almost nothing at all. Today, most every piece of work in physics is based on the foundation that Einstein laid. And yet....he couldn't tie his own shoes or ride a bicycle.
Gordon could at least do those, as well as drive a car. His own car, a yellow 1969 Dodge Charger R/T with a green stripe on the trunk, sat parked outside. Beautiful car and Gordon's first as it turns out. And he kept having strange dreams centered around it. Occasionally, he'd dream of being in a post apocalyptic wasteland with terrifying monsters, and somehow his Charger found its way back to him. And he'd use it to race toward somewhere before time ran out. But where was he racing to get to in his dream? And what sort of time limit was there? What would happen if Gordon didn't make it in time in his dream? Then there were other dreams involving his car, in which Gordon used it to battle against strange, terrifying, gigantic tripod creatures.
But he's always wake up, back to reality. Or was this the dream? No no, that was a question best left for philosophers, the kind of idiots who would sit in class and refuse to take roll call, since they would keep arguing with their instructors if they were really there or not. Such nonsense had no place in the realm of science. All argument and hearsay, where as science was concrete facts. We were here, this is reality not a dream, one must ride a bike by building up speed and balancing their center of gravity and 2+2=4.
Speaking of math, Gordon was busy trying to write out the string theory equation, while ignoring the insanity around him, when a woman came up and sat down beside him. Dr. Freeman hadn't noticed when she entered, but assumed it was only moments ago. Glancing over to take a gander at her, he found she was dressed for the season, all bundled up in warm clothing. Gordon himself looked like he was ready to go skiing, given the big heavy clothing he was wearing, all black with the exception of the gray scarf and red toboggan.
He nodded a hello to the lady, who may not have even acknowledged his presence yet, before taking another bite out of the big, greasy cheeseburger he'd ordered. Maybe not the healthiest choice, but the woman may very well ask if he'd recommend the dish for her or not. Or perhaps she'd rather ask about the long and complex looking equation that was written down on the napkin sitting in front of him.

What the...at the corner of her eye there was a napkin...and as she shifted her optics toward it to see what it said, the demon nurse REALLY hoped she hadn't taken a seat at some disgusting table that hadn't been serviced...but she was only partially right about that since there was someone already here enjoying their meal. Oh snap, did she actually intrude in someone's meal or perhaps even a date that they were waiting for?! ...maybe she should stick around a little longer to see if she would be approached by some random irritated female...that would be entertaining. After all, life was no fun at all without a little drama and things had been going so smoothly in her life that it was almost sickening. Seeing him give a nod hello, honestly she wasn't completely sure why he didn't just use his words to get her attention earlier...but then that was answered by the sight of chewed on burger in his hands. Well...it would have been pretty nasty if he tried talking and only managed to spew meat chunks or something in the process...good thing he didn't. Oh well...it was sort of embarrassing, even for her that she completely overlooked someone who looked like he was about to run to the slopes and start skiing but she wasn't about to freak out over something so minor.
Besides, it could make this day a little less boring! There wasn't too much on her plate for today aside from help lower the zombie population and find more people who owe organs...and their life of course. Bit by bit she was gathering enough souls to get back to when she was in her prime and very soon it was going to pay off...just a few more repo jobs! Sometimes it felt like someone wrapped her true potential in bubble wrap with packing peanuts or something but it was something dear ol' Tanzanite didn't bother thinking about much at all. Smiling as though trying to be sweet n' polite, the woman with cherry glossed lips let out a soft chuckle before speaking in a pleasant tone as though all was good in the world, "Ah...hello there~! I saw that you were sitting here all by yourself and figured it was a shame to leave you all alone....mmmm actually that's a lie, I didn't see you there at all..." Tilting her head slightly to the side followed by a slight shrug, she turned her attention over to the napkin and set down the menu upon the table as the janitor wandered about in the background now wearing a red jumpsuit and continuing to mumble out a song while swooshing his hips about like he was dancing with the mop.
Looking as though she got a pretty good idea of some sort while being curious all at the same time, she pointed over to the napkin and cooed out her inquiry of the moment, "My my~! It seems you're trying to write out something long and complicated on a single napkin...would you like a notebook? Seems like it'd be a travesty to stop your train of thought just because you ran out of writing space...though I haven't the slightest clue as to what that is..." That smile across her lips seemed to stick in an almost unnatural manner, like as though she was always in a good mood and at the worst ok. Figuring out what to order would be something saved for later, seemed to be really rude to shove tons and tons of questions on some random stranger. Wouldn't want to break his poor human brain, then that would be one less human housing functioning organs around and such an issue would be quite disheartening! The creepy helpful nurse of sorts loved organs so very much, probably why she had no complaints aside from `Tsk tsk...humans are so fragile`.
Now to see if he wanted a notepad! Normally she'd offer a pen but obviously this stuff wasn't written in ketchup and he already had something to write with.

Some child geniuses struggle with math. Indeed, many children do, but sometimes, especially in the cases of childhood geniuses, it was the teacher's fault, not the student's. Sometimes mathematical principals need to be taught a certain way for certain people to grasp them. Oh, but when they did grasp them, how they would take them a run with them. That's what physicists like Gordon did. They took math and ran with it. They ate, slept and breathed math.
And mathematical principals were never invented. Rather, they were discovered, much like discovering a land mass. No one invented North America or South America. They discovered them. No one invented 2+2=4. It was discovered. But it, along with every other mathematical concept, was only discovered after the fact. The equation that Gordon had written out onto his napkin, it was string theory. It had yet to be proven. Indeed, it had yet to have any evidence whatsoever to back it up, other than what math might possibly add up and equate to it.
Even if it were all proven incorrect though, perhaps the mere sight of the long equation would give the woman who sat down beside Gordon a tremendous respect for him. But only perhaps. Gordon could not have known she was a demoness, but her being a demoness, did she not have a bias toward humans? Did she view them as dumb, simple minded animals? And would the sight of this equation change all that? Or maybe it wouldn't surprise her at all. Maybe she held no bias toward humans.
After all, she was awfully polite, offering him a notebook paper to write on. That was probably because she thought Gordon was at work concocting new research and helping to formulate new theories. But in fact, the string theory equation had only be written out for the sheer hell of it. For recreational purposes and nothing more. No, Gordon knew a blackboard, computer or notebook paper was required to do some serious science. But this? This was just doodling out an equation that pertains to higher dimensions and possible time travel and new universes.
But why would anyone doodle mathematical formulas in their spare time? Well, because physicists eat, sleep and breathe math.
He smiled and held his hand up, shaking his head No and refused the notepad. He clearly wasn't a talker and he'd also given the first concrete evidence that he wasn't up to anything important. Just doing math for fun. Otherwise, he would've been a lot less open toward her and made it clear to her that he didn't want to be bothered. But no, his smile and silent, polite demeanor was the exact opposite. She was more than welcome to stay.
To stay and take part in the wonderful language of the universe: math. But probably just to stuff her tummy and listen in on the crazy commotion of the diner's staff...

It had been a while since nara had left the pleasant little apartment anya had him staying at since meeting her. It hadn't been too bad but nara was eager to explore the world after a while. Unlike most devils he had a chaotic streak of independence that was unique for creatures like him. Some thought it was a weakness or maybe the devil was just crazy.
He liked crazy it made him feel free he didn't have to follow orders just because someone was higher rank than him. He followed them because if he wanted he could say &^*& you if he really wanted to if the guy was incompetent.
It had been a while since leaving their company, he had agreed to help reno looking for his lost friend. Though really how he was supposed to pick out someone who looked exactly like anya in a city of several million people, not counting the undead zombies. It was like finding a needle in an impossibly large hay stack.
He wasn't too happy he had to search through such a thing either, but a promise was a promise. Still that didn't mean he couldn't have something to eat...if he could help it. Though the thought of money never really crossed his mind to be honest. He had a few gold coins that might be more than enough, though their value might be worthless here, except for how rare these things were in this world.
As his search took him throughout new york he ran into a strange restaurant with strange staff that could seemingly change clothing at will. It was amusing and he was curious to say the least how something like this was possible. He decided to find a seat if he could figure out where to sit down. He seemed lost to say the least and kind of ended up very blatantly obvious as he just glanced around at the dinner rather than finding his own seat. Not that he had intended to so, he was aware slightly of how stupid he must look but he had not eaten at a restaurant like this. When he had been with anya and vince they had just taken their seat after some wait.....person came up had them take a seat, this however was entirely new for the young devil.
Not to mention there were so many interesting thoughts flowing from everybody around him that they were kind of making him stand there and go "ohh butterflies...Ohh whats that....." as his mind kept jumping from random thought to random thought from the people inside the dinner. He definitely had a vague expression as he stood their trying his best to concentrate on the task of finding reno's friend which wasn't working. He didn't even know who she was all he knew is it was someone who was anya but not anya.....or something along that line.

The ding of the bell, the chief humming as he flipped burgers, the busy shit chat of people at the diner. A lean waiter shuffled the plates as he moved his way down the tables until he served a few dishes, mainly the 'heart-attack on a bun.' He breathed lightly as he sighed and moved his dark royal blue hair out of his face, only to reveal slim sunglasses. The lean man wore a simple waiter's outfit, nothing too extraordinary, it matched all the other waiter's and waitress. This restaurant wasn't a five star, but it did bring in the masses for a good meal, which this Demon never told part of. Well, Demon would be a crude term, he was Shadow Folk, also called a Dark Kin back in his realm. This man was named Geniko Heshiniru, heir to Darkness. He was the tenth of his kin to be recorded in Demon history, and that was a big book. He had read the whole thing too, if that was of any importance.
Geniko turned on his heels and returned to another customer, a Human whom he left with a cheeseburger and was last seen writing an equation on a napkin. Now, he was sitting with another, a lady in fact. It seemed a mutual encounter, neither seemed to know each other. But, as he came closer and pulled a pen and notepad. He stopped next to their table, lightly looking over the group. He had a second of eye contact with the nurse, he could feel her aura, yet he suppressed his own quiet well; he didn't want others to catch on, working at this place was a little degrading, yet he was curious of how hard it was to work as a human. Now, he knew and really, he never wanted to again, he would rob a bank for money than do this crap again; he need cash, he didn't make those special bullets.
Gen tapped the pad twice with his pen after clicking it, making sure he had ink. He looked over at the Human Eskimo eating a burger, clearing his throat to get his attention. He spoke lightly, a bit of a whisper but it was loud once it got to their ears; a trait of Shadows, "Anything else, Sir? And what can I get you...." He paused for a moment, looking the women over for a moment, "Miss?" He then began to look at the man again, he had to pay attention to him the most, since the man rarely spoke, if ever, in front of him. Yet, it seemed the man was a genius, as Geniko could lightly see his math; Humans surprised him almost every day, this man was noteworthy, then again, he was another mortal. But, the Demon, it felt like he met her somewhere else before, then again, he could have came across her name in a book somewhere, he shook the thought from his mind.
Geniko could care less of other Demons, they acted cruel against him, making him be something he shouldn't be. Every day of training, he would lose his sanity, til he hurt his partner; that was one reason he left his home. Then he entered the Human realm after wandering around for a while, and he's been here ever since. He's met a few people over the months, found a few romance interests, ran away from a few, and gained a name among people. But, there was this naga he met, he had no idea exactly what she meant about 'Desert," so he booked it before things got bad. Maybe he should have......
Geniko violently shook his head as he snapped back to reality, pushing up his sunglasses to hide the glow of his blue eyes one more; yet it did not stop the never ending swirling look his eyes had. "Sorry, what was your order again?" He said, lightly inhaling with a wince as he smelled morphine and medical herbs from the lady, even though it was a small trace, he could still smell it just a few feet from her.

Normally people, especially mortal humans would flip out and jump at the chance for a FREE notepad or FREE anything for that matter. They were greedy, amusing creatures they were. It was no wonder so many of them sold their souls for stupid things like ponies or a shiny new sports car. Upon being denied she simply smiled in a fashion that could induce some new form of evil tooth decay and brought a gloved hand to her cheek with a muse filled chuckle while partially narrowing her eyes. "Mmmm...? Alright, I suppose you're just fooling around with numbers and it isn't important enough to be kept safe and sound~! So...do tell me what your name is...or am I so stunning that y-"
Before she could finish her words that almost sounded as though she was trying to seduce him into using the little thing called speech, that's when the nurse demon sensed something rather peculiar...something familiar...no...TWO familiar presences. Not really the sort where one, such as herself would wish to stand up and blurt out how she knows someone. No no no it was like being closer to home or a hometown while still being extremely far away. Of course she wasn't exactly home sick from hell....or at least one of its many branches...but more along the lines of sensing that all too familiar aura which clung onto all of its resident EVILs. WELL CRAP ON A CRACKER...she was speaking wasn't she? Quickly...she had to think of an excuse for suddenly cutting off herself like some sort of goldfish or gnat with a short attention span, glancing passed the janitor who seemed to magically get different colored clothes once turning yet another corner while humming something that seemed like it came from India, she looked at the poster of a yellow goat getting chomped on by a bunch of kids and batted her lashes while smoothly cooing out the words, "My my, I'm terribly sorry...I got distracted by the poster over there. Curious thing, isn't it?" Ah...just like velvet for the ear drums...that's precisely how her tone was.
Though when the tap tap emitting from the pen she glanced over to the fellow demon flashing off some of her pearly whites to compliment such a lovely smile. "Oh~! How very strange...everyone seems to be sneaking into my blind spots today! ...mmm~?" Lightly holding up her hand with her smile contorting into a smirk, it seemed as though the fellow citizen from hell was a bit distracted...kinda like the demon boy in the back ground who seemed to be saying something about butterflies...er...maybe she should fetch him? Yes that would probably be for the best. Oh! It seemed like he was back to reality! Giggling as though he told her some sort of amusing joke, she couldn't help but respond in a soothing tone, "You got a little distracted there, boy...how about you surprise me? I need to get something, if you'll both excuse me for a moment~" Scooting out of her seat, careful to avoid bumping into the demonic waiter...giving him a potentially small scare would be fun. So what'd the crazy nurse do?
Simply she locked eye contact with him for a moment as though to quietly tell him `I know your little secret` and that smile seemed to have a darker...yet still friendly nature to it before strutting on over to the one who appeared to be in a strange little world of his own...the one that blurted out something about butterflies as though he was having an ADD moment. Bringing her hand up to his shoulder once her click clacking heels against the tile brought her over to him came to a halt. "Ah...I couldn't help but see you all alone here...why don't you come and sit with my new friend and I, hm? They do say it's best to have a meal with pleasant company...wouldn't you agree~?" Now all she had to do was wait and see if he'd bother listening to her or keep on getting distracted by random things.
{AFJKJ! I'm so so SO sorry this took a while! I really and truly am! Things have been a bit chaotic D: so yeah...sorry sorry....hope it was worth the wait =www=;;;}

What geniuses and men of science more than made up for in academic endeavors they usually seemed to lack in social situations. In Gordon's case, he wasn't much for conversation. Declining the woman's offer for a notebook, he expected her to react a bit disappointed. From his experience, no one appreciated having their helped turned down. In the woman's case, she smiled. She was obviously pleased by Gordon's refusal.
How perplexing, like a scientific mystery. Unlike a scientific mystery, however, thoughts and emotions could not be translated into simple numbers which could be worked into equations. At least, not at this point in time. When it was discovered the universe had far more gravity than it should have, scientist used mathematics to both discover the problem and find the solution, leading them to theorize a material called dark matter. Using math, scientists can calculate the temperature of the sun, or the density of Jupiter, or the distance between stars. But the thoughts and feelings, the reason behind the woman's smile, her motives? There was no equation that could determine that. Solving for X would not reveal any answers.
And that's was frightened most of the academic achievers. Given proper time and research, they could calculate the gravitational pull of planets in other solar systems, or how to balance a nuclear reactor's energy output. But despite all their technical and mathematical know-how, they could not understand basic things, like people and normal social interactions.
Dr. Freeman, on the other hand, was not just perplexed by the stranger, but absolutely fascinated. Her bizarre reaction made him almost want to study her, to take notes even. In fact, he began to, with the exception of the whole taking notes part. His brow creased as he analyzed her. He would stay silent, so as not to interfere with the specimen and contaminate the environment of the experiment. But she would force him to, it seems, as she was about to ask him his name, and probably some other things.
Just then though, another man approached. A humble waiter, it seemed. Gordon could not have known he was something far more than a mere human though. Unlike the strange woman, he was not eccentric or outstanding enough. Then again, maybe he was, in his own way. But even mighty Jupiter, when viewed from a great distance, is dwarfed and shadowed by the glare of the monstrous sun. So too could this waiter's uniqueness be overshadowed by that of the strange woman.
When the waiter asked if he'd like anything else, the good Doctor shook his head No and very briefly put his hand up on a kind of stop gesture at the same time. Turning back to this unwitting specimen, he saw her get up and go great another diner goer, one he had not noticed enter. She was so polite, even to complete strangers. She either had a heart of gold or was clinically insane. Maybe both...

Naradan shook his head and looked slightly surprised when the mysterious woman in a nurses outfit came up to him. He could immediately tell she was a demon or some other hellish creature. He blinked a few times his mind now focused on the individual before him.
He was slightly surprised to have been rooted out so quickly but he smiled and at her in a friendly way and decided to answer her. "Alright." he said in a soft voice. It had the silky manipulative edge many of his kind possessed. He tried as hard as he could to cut the telepathy off from all the people around him.
He gave an uneasy sigh knowing that other demons and devils you had to be cautious around them. They might be friendly to you one second then as soon as you let your guard down they had you agreeing to soul contracts or you had a dagger planted in your back. either way he had learned that you stay on guard, especially those who survive their atonement they become obvious prey for anybody looking to make a name for themselves by capturing the traitor or killing them.
He shuddered inwardly at the very idea of having other creatures hunting him down. I'll worry about that the moment that subject comes up. he thought silently to himself. He followed the strange demonic nurse keeping a little bit behind her, mainly for the fact he could see any attack she tried to make at him. Outwardly however i would appear for all intents and purposes as if he was really shy and wanted to make himself as small as possible by staying away from everybody.
There sure are a lot of demons and other hellish beings in this realm He thought to himself considering Anya was a vengeance demon, there was him granted he wasn't from this plane of existence, then he picked up a little from one of the waiters slight demonic or hellish energies. Then lets not forget there is freaky demon nurse who was guiding him to the table with the only human he had seen besides reno. He knew for a fact that there was no anya but not anya here in the restaurant which wasn't very helpful to his little venture. What the hell is wrong with this place he thought to himself. did the gateway to the infinite abyss break open and spill out demons every now and again or something? he thought to himself though anybody with some measure of telepathy could probably make out these questions if they focused on him enough.
((sorry its really short))
