Why was it that so many demons just had the random urge to take Dean's stuff whenever they felt like it? This time one had actually managed to carjack the Impala and was cruising around Kansas. For obvious reasons, Dean Winchester was not a happy man at that moment. Not only had some random demon snagged his baby, but it now had most of his weapons - including the demon-killing knife. Thankfully Dean kept the Colt closer to himself since it had gotten stolen way too many times. On the downside there was no real way he could keep a demon from breaking into his car and taking it. He'd just always assumed they were smart enough to figure that taking an infamous hunter's prized possession and driving around in it wasn't a smart idea. The worst part was that it was the middle of the night. For obvious reasons, Dean wasn't about to let anyone take the Impala at any time, night or morning.
At that was the reason why Dean was walking through Kansas, Colt in hand in the middle of the night. It was raining heavily, so heavily that Dean could barely see through it. Wasn't this kind of stuff not supposed to happen in this part of the world? It was probably some kind of screwed up demon thing so Dean wouldn't be able to get his car back. Again, Dean had to wonder what demons had against him having his stuff. Well, other than the fact that he usually used it to kill them. Well, what did they except? Did they think that if they messed with everything and jump-started the apocalypse hunters weren't going to be killing them? Finally, Dean reached a building with a rain-blocking canopy. At least he could take this time to get a bit dryer... or, so he thought. It was at that very moment that he watched the Impala cruise by, demonic asshole driving it and all. The hunter groaned and took aim. But, he wasn't fast enough and he really didn't want to hurt the Impala. His bullet flew right past the demon's head.
Groaning, Dean took off running after the car. The demon had to stop sometime soon. After all, what point was there in stealing a hunter's car if he wasn't going somewhere. Thankfully, the demon stopped soon at a local nightclub. As soon as Dean reached the parked Impala he tried to pull the door open. As he'd expected, the demon had taken the keys with him into the Nightclub. This was going to be a long night...

The familiar image of the Impala parked outside the nightclub confirmed Castiel's suspicions: Dean was somewhere nearby. The hunter never seemed to go anywhere without his beloved car, which...Cas didn't really understand. Evidently the car had...sentimental value? It had to be another one of those 'human things', and now was no time to question it - all he really cared about was finding Dean and Sam at this point. The angel hadn't spoken to the brothers in quite some time; the search for Lucifer had dragged them all their separate ways. But if his encounter with Agent Popsicle had taught him anything, it was that teamwork could prove to be very efficient - and he was now holding the firm belief that their struggle to defeat the devil wasn't something any of them should be doing alone. Now...the only issue left was actually locating Dean and Sam. They were most likely inside the nightclub by now, with the other three things they seemed to like almost as much as the Impala: music, girls, and booze. Castiel sighed inwardly. He supposed he...was going to have to make his way in there...
And suddenly, someone was approaching the Impala very quickly, and the ensuing noises told Castiel that they were attempting to get the door open. Was someone trying to...break in? He turned around slowly, his head tipped slightly to one side...and blinked in surprise with what he found: the man attempting to get into the car was Dean himself. Now, Cas wasn't exactly the 'buddy buddy' sort of guy; he wasn't one for handshakes or man-hugs, or even happy greetings - but it was good to see one of the very few people he could consider a friend again. But his relief at finding Dean was stilled - something was amiss here. ..Because...he was pretty sure Dean shouldn't have been locked out of his car. And where was Sam? What had the Winchesters gotten themselves into this time? Whatever it was, of course Castiel would have the timing to walk right in on it.
Clearing his throat, the angel stepped forward into the night and looked intently from Dean to the car, and then back again. "Dean," he greeted somberly, wondering whether now was the time to approach him. He seemed busy, but...now Castiel was curious. Hardly one to bombard anyone with questions, though, he thought carefully about which of the many running through his head he should ask - and decided it was most important to go with figuring out what was going on at the moment before anything else. "....Did you....lose your keys...?" was what the angel ended up asking him with gruff uncertainty.

The last thing Dean expected to hear the night he'd lost his keys and was about to go into some kind of demonic bar was the voice of Castiel behind him asking if he'd lost his keys. In fact, he never really expected that to happen in his life. He'd sometimes wondered if Cas even knew what car keys were. He probably never would have to use them if he drove a car, but that would probably lead to massive amounts of death anyway. Dean turned around and saw that it really was Castiel. Obviously Dean wasn't up for those `bro-hugging manly 'I-haven't-seen-you-in-so-long` things, but he was actually pretty happy to see Castiel. For one thing it meant he'd be getting his keys back sooner than he thought. If there was one thing all demons feared it was angels. Which was really a stupid way to make demons on Lucifer's part.
"...Hey Cas." Dean really hadn't expected their meeting up to be so awkward. Then again, he really hadn't expected to meet up with Cas so soon, either. They'd all gone their separate ways after Lucifer had attacked them when they were captured by the Pagan Gods. It was pretty good seeing someone who could help him out, though. It really hadn't been fun since then, what with the Sam leaving and the having to tell Bobby and the Lucifer. Hopefully he could get Cas to stay with him, maybe to help him find Sam again. They really had to stop separating like this. Now that he thought about it, Dean didn't even know if Sam had said yes to Lucifer yet. Well, the apocalypse hadn't happened yet, so he could probably assume Sam didn't say yes. It would probably be better if he had Sam with him so he could make sure he didn't say yes.
"Uh...yeah." Dean replied awkwardly. Man, this was way more awkward than he'd pictured it. Sure, he didn't picture a sappy Hallmark card, but talking about losing your keys with an angel just felt... weird. "Anyway, can you help me get 'em back? They were snagged by some demon. I was planning on going in there and gankin' the demon myself, but now that you're here..."

Castiel tipped his head slightly to one side at the stiff silence that followed Dean's greeting. Someone who was a little more...socially aware would have referred to it as 'awkwardness'. But Cas, who could be the embodiment of awkwardness himself sometimes, was usually completely oblivious to those sorts of things. So he simply stood, completely silent and unmoving as if this were the most natural thing to do during a conversation with your friend in the world, until Dean spoke again.
So. A demon was responsible for this. Of course, a demon was responsible for most bad things that happened to the Winchesters these days. But...why had they stooped to car theft? Perhaps this particular demon knew of the sentimental value the car held, and had taken it simply for the purpose of making Dean angry. Castiel frowned in disapproval at the thought; reflecting that making a hunter angry was not a wise idea under any circumstances. But especially when that hunter was a Winchester. Well. At least the demon had been smart enough to take the car keys with it. Castiel wasn't entirely sure how keys worked, exactly, but apparently they served as some sort of security device. You could not get a car to work, or even open it without them. A wise invention on the humans' part. "...Yes, of course. I will assist you in...'ganking' this demon." Castiel replied seriously, without so much as blinking as he uncertainly quoted one of Dean's strange 'slang English' words.
Turning his gaze to the nightclub, the angel frowned even deeper in thought - if that were actually possible at this point. "But how do you intend to lure it out? Surely the humans inside will not take calmly to us exorcising a demon amidst their ranks." Stating the obvious was something that Castiel excelled at, and true to form, he didn't fail to do it now. However, it was a legitimate problem - perhaps...Sam could help them? Had he already gone inside? He glanced around briefly, but could neither see nor sense the other Winchester's presence anywhere nearby. "...Where is Sam?" he inquired, turning back to Dean in uncertainty. It was not a common occurrence for the brothers to be separated - and Castiel had to admit that it was some cause for concern, especially with Lucifer now free to walk the earth...and to hunt down his vessel at his will.

Hearing Cas say 'gank' was weird, but it wasn't the first time the angel had tried to copy Dean's somewhat-strange slang. But at least Cas was going to help him out with this, which was probably good since he was an angel. If there was one thing that all demons feared, it was angels. Probably because their powers could send them back to Hell by touching them, but that was besides the point. Now Dean could make that demon do whatever the hell he wanted because if he didn't he was getting sent back to Hell.
If the demon had a car, you could be sure Dean was going to make the demon give over his keys. Even though Dean would never use them.
Thinking for a moment, Dean wondered just how he would get the demon out. Then he came up with a plan. "Alright. I'll just tell the demon that you're an angel and if he attacks us, it looks like we didn't do anything wrong." It was about as intelligent as Dean's usual plans. This was why Sam was the rational thinker of the group, after all. Dean was better at doing the actual fighting part while Sam was better at making plans for killing the things. That was how it worked. With Sam gone, they'd have to find some other way.
"I don't know where Sam is." Dean replied. "Might be looking for Lucifer, I don't know." If he was, that was a dumb idea. Lucifer just slaughtered a ton of pagan gods, who were pretty much the toughest things they'd faced, not counting angels.

Very, very slowly, Castiel tipped his head slightly to one side as Dean relayed his plan to regain possession of his keys. It was simple and to the point, the way most of Dean's plans were - but also very impulsive. Naturally, the angel's mind immediately began calculating all the very many things that could go wrong, and how much the risks weighed against their chances of success. The conclusion he came to had him frowning, although that didn't necessarily mean anything. Cas...was more often than not frowning to some degree, after all.
"Dean, while the demon is most likely to be intimidated by sensing an angel in its presence, that approach may...prompt it into trying to escape." He pointed out cautiously. The demon running out of the bar and them giving chase would most likely draw some unwanted attention - or so Castiel assumed. Humans could be rather...unpredictable. Perhaps they'd just think it was normal. Still, he wanted to minimize the risk if at all possible because getting the Impala back was srs bsns so after a moment's pause, he voiced a suggestion of his own. "Perhaps...I could wait here, and you could lure it out? By the time it realized what was going on, it would be too late..." His voice was calm, though almost a tad more grim - Castiel wasn't particularly violent in nature, but when it came to demonic entities he could be rather...unforgiving.
This news of Sam, however, troubled him more than he liked to admit. Castiel wasn't sure which was more disconcerting - the fact that the elder Winchester did not know where his brother was (in Castiel's experience, they'd always at least made attempts to keep in touch), or the idea that Sam might actually be looking for Lucifer. It wasn't something Cas would necessarily put past him, actually. Despite what some of the angels thought about the devil's destined vessel, Sam Winchester had noble instincts. He would probably feel that it was his responsibility, and his alone, to take care of this threat. "Seeking out Lucifer by himself would be...highly inadvisable. We must hope he has more common sense than that." he replied, actually sounding a bit concerned.
He paused again before asking the next question. This was not his business. Yet the Winchesters would not separate without good reason, would they? Some sort of fight, or a conflict that forced them to stay apart - after all, their enemies had been known to use their concern for one another against them. "Did something ... happen ...between the two of you?" the angel asked tentatively.

Dean nodded slightly as he listened to Cas' retaliation. Eh, it was kinda true, but hey it wasn't like they wouldn't be able to follow the demon, right? Cas' plan would work... But how would Dean know it was a demon. The hunter thought for a moment YES HE CAN ACTUALLY THINK. Well, if he could sense the demon he could just walk in and gank it with the Colt. "Hey, you can sense demons, right?" Dean asked, still thinking this through. They were having some difficulty planning this out, which Dean really didn't expect. He expected to just march on in and gank the demon right in there. This whole thing kind of reminded him of how much they kinda needed Sam there to help them plan these things out. He might not have been the best at choosing who to trust, but he and Cas were having a hard time planning this out without him.
So you could go in, sense the demon and then teleport over to it and exorcise the son of a bitch." Dean said, casually. Hey, this was the kind of thing that was casual in his life. Talking to angels, asking them to go in and exorcise demons in bars who stole his keys. Yep, that kind of thing was just... perfectly normal for Dean. Which was really weird. Snapped out of his thoughts by Cas' next words, Dean realized that he really didn't want to think about where Sam was and if he said yes to Lucifer. There was already too much on his mind with Lucifer being around and all these demons rising from Hell as well as all the other weird things that were happening. "Hey, it's not like I tell him what to do." Dean believed that it probably should be him telling Sam what to do since his brother had a tendency to go off with demons and accidentally summon the Devil when he didn't listen to Dean.
"No, not really." Dean replied, crossing his arms and leaning on a nearby car. Dean wasn't really sure what had happened between himself and Sam. They just... went their separate ways. Dean wasn't even sure what Sam was doing or why they decided to split up. It was probably a stupid decision to even let Sam wander off. Now he was probably going after Lucifer on his own. "Tell you the truth I don't even know what the hell happened. He just kinda... left. I haven't talked to him in a week." It had been a week since they encountered Lucifer at that hotel and Gabriel was killed or at least something near a week. They should've been going after the Horseman's rings together, not separately...

Cas gave a tiny nod in response to Dean asking him if he could sense demons - not only that, but he could see them for what they truly were. It wouldn't be difficult to pick one out in a crowd, and...he then realized that this was exactly why his abilities would be required inside the nightclub. Dean would have little other way of picking the demon out of the crowd, unless he went around sprinkling a bit of holy water on each of them. ..Which Castiel assumed was inadvisable. Already, Sam's absence was painfully evident. The younger Winchester balanced out Dean's recklessness and Castiel's obliviousness to human behavior, and was often able to come up with the most logical plans out of the three of them. But Sam's disappearance was something they were going to have to address a bit later, after all of this was finished. Trying to persuade Dean to go after him when Dean didn't currently had no method of transportation wasn't going to accomplish much, at any rate.
So the angel instead focused his thoughts on Dean's plan. There was no reason it wouldn't work, although teleporting and exorcising in the middle of a nightclub might draw them a bit of...unwanted attention. "You are not concerned with any witnesses?" Castiel asked cautiously, aware that most humans were somewhat...oblivious to the world of the supernatural that existed right under their nose. And the majority of them didn't tend to react well when it was ultimately exposed to them. "If we can find a way around that, I should be able to exorcise the demon easily enough." he continued all the same, turning towards the nightclub and preparing to approach it if this was the course of action Dean decided on. There was also the issue of the demon's vessel, he realized. Once the demon was exorcised, the person it had chosen to possess was often a little worse for the wear - in a state of shock, sometimes even comatose. It would be best to get the demon away from prying eyes first for that reason, but the question was...how to do it?
He was momentarily distracted, however, when Dean answered him in regards to Sam. At his words, Castiel actually turned back around to stare at him. Sam just deciding to leave was most certainly not like him, especially when he hadn't even told his brother why. Cas most definitely did not like the sound of that. And Dean - well, Dean's emotions were difficult for the angel to interpret at the best of times, but he wasn't too happy about his brother's absence either - Castiel didn't need to be a mind-reader to know that. "We must find him. This is quite possibly the worse time he could have chosen to go off on his own - I don't like it." Even worse was the thought of Lucifer finding Sam before they did - but Castiel didn't think anyone needed a reminder of that. He cleared his throat quietly. "But first...your car." he added, glancing back towards the nightclub.
