The surface of a bubble was so thin, the slightest prick and it would pop! But the gentlest touch, and your finger could slip right through it.
In almost the same way? Dimensions were delicate, packed tightly together and separated only by the most rudimentary of barriers! Not just anyone could slip and weave their way through the infinite universes contained within each tiny pocket of existence. It was an art mastered only by a scant few - those who had the knack! Those who didn't? Frankly, they had no talent for a reason!
Some people were just meant to stay within their own realm. Their own tiny corner of a planet wrapped up inside a galaxy, one of millions that existed within the infinite space of a single dimension.
And these dimensions... infinite in number, and infinite in what they could contain? They had almost been his to rule - to recreate and to destroy! Locked away inside his head, Dimentio knew the secrets he would need to sabotage every reality conceivable. His last attempt had been a field testing of his knowledge, and he now had proof that it worked! He had come so very close to being the master over everything.
All he needed to find was a pure princess, and then a monster that she could marry. As the maniac who had nearly annihilated every dimension and reduced them to blank slates?
Dimentio felt justified in his confidence.
And it was this same confidence that lead him to materialise suddenly with a shimmer! His feet dangling in mid-air high above a walled city, which was itself surrounded by a vast labyrinth whose walls cast it in shadow, concealing whatever traps and trickery might lie inside from his bird's-eye view of the land below. Beyond the walls of this elaborate maze, there was only orange sky and barren land... and then nothing.
While certainly larger than his own Dimension D, this reality was a compact one compared with even the size of a planet. The entire focus of this dimension's existence seemed to rest only on the labyrinth and the city it protected. Where there was a castle... there was usually a princess! Or perhaps a beastly king?
Either way? This felt like the right place to start looking! Ah ha ha ha, indeed!
