The Doctor was rarely seen randomly travelling through space in his TARDIS. When he goes to a dimension he tends to stay on a solid ground instead of randomly floating around. But, the Doctor found simply floating through space somewhat relaxing on occasion, particularly when he was able to make some sort of window to look out into space. Which was exactly what the Doctor was doing at that very moment. He was quite bred and if the TARDIS needed to take him somewhere, it would take him there. It did get awfully dull in the TARDIS without a companion to talk to. The Doctor walked into the TARDIS' library and selected a book from it's vast selection. The Doctor read a few pages from the book before setting it down next to himself and leaning back against the chair he sat in.
The Doctor longed for some companion in his travels. It did get terribly lonely doing these things alone. The Doctor stood up and walked back into the main control room of the TARDIS. There, he checked the psychic paper for any messages sent. Unfortunately there was nothing for him to look into. There was nothing at all to be done. The TARDIS wasn't bringing him anywhere, the psychic paper was clear and he didn't have a companion to talk to. The Doctor rarely experienced days like this where he didn't have anyone to travel with. Suddenly the Cloister Room's bell sounded. There was some imminent danger nearby... The Doctor took hold of his sonic screwdriver and began looking around the TARDIS for whatever was putting it in danger.

"Keh.... I'll have to thank the Federation sometime."
The feared Space Pirate General winged his way through the abyss of space, his path aimless and with no set path in mind, though he had an eventual destination. He had a general idea of where the Space Pirates might have gone to in some numbers. One of these locations was his goal, though it was still a great ways off. His speed in space was unhindered by the effects of the resistance of air, but it was a far cry from the speed even the ships of the Space Pirates could achieve.
He swept down toward an asteroid as he crossed paths with it. It was headed in much the same direction as he was, and provided an easier method of travel, and likely quicker as well. He sank his talons into it and hitched a ride, hunkering down and folding his wings in...and waiting.
It wasn't long before he saw something....a bit strange. It was what looked like some kind of....communications booth. A very, very old-style one, probably from Earth, of all places. What in the name of Mother Brain was it doing all the way out here in space?! What was worse, his ride seemed to be on a collision course straight for the damn thing. "Good freaking grief...."
Rather than wait around for the imminent collision, he launched himself violently off of the small asteroid, shattering it into pieces in the process and sending them spiralling away to who knows where, and went flying directly at the obstruction, wings spread wide. "Just the thought of Earth and its humans.....reminds me of her..... This thing just pissed me off!"

There was nothing to be found on board the TARDIS. Nothing out of the ordinary, at least. After all, it was pretty much impossible to teleport onto the TARDIS so there was no way anyone could have come in... It was actually not so clever of the Doctor to think that there could be something on board the TARDIS. It was possible there was something just outside of it, though. The Doctor turned his attention to the door of the TARDIS. What could possibly be lurking out there in space? The not knowing made him somewhat remember that strange thing that had happened with the woman who kept copying everything he said and eventually took control of his mind. The Doctor never did find out just what that.... thing was. The thought of it still sent chills down the Doctor's spine, which was quite a feat.
So, the Doctor opened the door. Just outside was a gigantic robot dragon launching itself at high speeds towards the TARDIS. The Doctor shut the door and thought of just what to do next. Well... there was a large robot space dragon flying right towards the TARDIS. The best thing to do was get out of the way. The Doctor ran towards the controls and flew the TARDIS out of Ridley's path. The Doctor once again opened the door, this time to try to talk to the dragon and ask it just why it had launched itself at the TARDIS for seemingly no apparent reason. "Hey! Hello!" The Doctor shouted, hoping the dragon could hear him. "Any reason you just tried to destroy my ship?" The Doctor wasn't really angry, per-se. He was just kind of... confused. He didn't think he'd encountered this kind of thing before, so it's species shouldn't have a grudge against him...

In his blind launch, Ridley had sacrified control over his movements, and ended up....sailing past the strange chunk of firewood? The hell? He swept out in a broad arc, righting himself to re-orient on the little thing. That was when he noticed the someone was apparently....in it. More and more questions, none of which he actually cared if there were answers for. He just shook it off and fixed the occupant of the strange....ship with an intent stare. He definitely looked human enough....and though there was no scent to identify him by in the vacuum of space, the feel of the puny man wasn't exactly....human.
He'd killed and devoured enough humans with his own bare claws and fangs to be able to practically sense their prescence and ferret them out through disguises. And while the man currently talking to him like an idiot certainly looked and seemed human enough....there was something just off enough about the way he felt for Ridley to consider actually humoring him with a bit of conversation. It wasn't as if he met anyone brave or foolish enough to actually talk to him on a regular basis. Or smart enough to, for that matter....
"Any reason for it? Kehehe...." He chuckled loudly as if the question was simply ridiculous. "It was in my way. And it reminded me of....someone I'd like to wrap my claws around but good." He clicked his fanged beak sharply as he spoke, indicating his distaste for the person mentioned.

So, much like the other space monsters the Doctor encountered, this one seemed to want to kill people, something the Doctor just... wouldn't stand for. Murder was one of the many things the Doctor was strictly opposed to and he had a certain disdain for people who viewed murder as the only way around things, even when the target was someone who had done something absolutely horrible. Even if someone came along and tried to murder this... robot dragon space thing he would oppose them. The Doctor scratched the back of his head as the robot-space-dragon talked, considering his next course of action. Of course, he could just teleport out but considering this thing wanted to kill someone that was against his better judgement.
"So, who's this someone you want to kill?" The Doctor asked, discreetly placing a hand on his pocket and taking hold of the Sonic Screwdriver in case things got ugly. With it he could probably activate the TARDIS controls to teleport him somewhere else. "...Y'know, I wonder if you've heard of me. Probably not, so it can't help to introduce myself. I'm the Doctor! Y'know, I would definitely hold out my hand for shaking, but... Well, you're a lot bigger than me so I'd really rather not." The Doctor smiled and, instead of a handshake, offered a wave of his hand in greeting. "Maybe we got off on the wrong foot... er, claw? Anyway, what's your name?"
