Physical Appearance:
Raphael stands roughly as tall as a short human. That is to say, he stands approximately 5'0" tall, give or take a couple inches. Don’t let his small stature fool you though. Raphael is about 180 lbs of pure muscle, both as a result of his mutation and his athletic lifestyle. His well defined muscle mass makes that obvious on appearance though.
Being a mutant turtle, Raphael retains much the turtle features. For starters, his skin is green and scaley, like a reptile’s. His hands have only three digits and his foot only has two toes. But arguably his most noticeable feature is his shell, the likes of which covers his entire torso.
Personality:
Like all of his brothers, Raphael has a passion for martial arts, athletics and pizza. That’s about where the similarities end, though. Out of all his brothers, Raphael is by far the most independent one. He’s the one most likely to be seen alone and doing his own thing. But it’s not his individuality that usually defines him, however.
Hotheaded, aggressive and quick to anger, Raphael is easily provoked. His deep seeded rage is a result of the unfairness of his place in life. Often dismissed as the dark one, Raphael is misunderstood and when push comes to shove, his sense of honor and loyalty always assures he’ll fight for the right side.
Powers/Abilities:
Athletic Prowess: As a result of his mutation and his athletic lifestyle, Raphael is stronger and faster than any non-mutant human. His physical strength is actually where he excels, since he is probably the physically strongest of his brothers. In fact, Raphael has demonstrated he can lift a being of comparable size to himself over his head; meaning his physical prowess might border on superhuman.
Martial Arts: Raphael is well versed in several types of martial arts, the most obvious being ninjutsu. All these years of hiding means he is an expert at stealth and infiltration. He can use a variety of fighting styles, however, meaning he is effective and sometimes lethal with both his bare hands and weapons; although he prefers his trusty sais.
Shell: Like all turtles and tortoises, Raphael has a shell that covers his entire torso. The armor is weakest in the front and can be penetrated by close range gunfire or a stabbing weapon. However, the armor in the back is virtually impenetrable. Also, like most tortoises, Raphael can curl up completely inside his shell, if worse comes to worse.

Sai blades: Raphael is a master of the sai; a dagger-like weapon that can be used to stab, bludgeon, or catch and control an enemy’s weapon.
Psychological Flaws:
Temper: Raphael is a hothead who doesn’t always think things through. He even beat his brother Michelangelo with a wrench after a friendly spar got out of hand. As a result, he can be quick to a fight and remain undisciplined during combat; or worse, he can go after friends if they provoke him.

Mere Mortal: Although Raphael has more combat potential than most other people, he can get sick, be poisoned, starve, break bones, or fall asleep just like anyone else.

The first memory that Raphael has is being a baby turtle in a pet store, along with his brothers. As fate would have it, he was eventually dumped down into the sewers, where he, his brothers, and a rat -that would play a very important role in the four turtles’ life- eventually came into contact with a strange ooze. The ooze mutated both the baby turtles and the rat, causing them to grow in intelligence and size, comparable to that of a human.
Splinter, as the rat would come to be known as, took care for the four baby turtles, eventually giving them names he found in an old Renaissance art book he found in a storm drain. Splinter continued to look after and nurture Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo and Raphael, the latter of which usually ended up being his problem child.
Like his brothers, Raphael was well trained by Splinter in various forms of martial arts, most notably ninjutsu, which enabled him and his brothers to roam about New York City while staying hidden. Splinter also taught them how to master various weapons. Each turtle/brother found they had an affinity for a certain weapon type, Raphael’s being the sai blades.So well trained were Raphael and his brothers that they became crime fighters in their teenage years.
Raphael and his brothers fought and overcame many foes and obstacles, the most notable of which was the Shredder and his infamous Foot clan. Raphael also became the first turtle to befriend an outsider, another vigilante by the name of Casey Jones. Occasionally, he and Casey Jones would pair off together and fight crime, without the aid of the other turtles.
But as the turtles began to grow older, Raphael -who was always a bit of a loner- started to strike out on his own more and more. Now, he wonders the world, ambitious but directionless, and often times looking for an outlet for his rage...
