Lost. To keep it simple in terms, Lynn was lost. Utterly lost. The last thing she remembered was having another nightmare, the same one she'd been having for weeks now. Waking up on a medical table, seeing a woman's face staring back at her, and then needles...many, many, needles. Usually it woke her up out of a dead sleep, but this time it went on a bit longer before she found herself sleeping on the bench of a baseball field.
Out of the fear of not knowing where she was, however, she ran as far as she could. She didn't know if she was still dreaming or truly awake. That was, until she reached the beach. It was deserted now, since it was early morning. It was quiet except for the sounds of the waves crashing against the beach...it was soothing to her ears. The taste of salt kissed her lips as the ocean breeze touched her face. No, she wasn't dreaming, and for her that was a bad thing.
Alone, in a place she didn't recognize, and with probably only a good third or fourth of the population that could understand sign language...she was in a bad position... Especially since she never knew when those white coated scientists could appear. She knew there had to be more than the ones in her dreams--the ones that haunted her, and that's what scared her the most. They could be anywhere...
For the time being she walked the stretch of the beach, letting her thoughts roam until she'd reached a nearby boardwalk. There were a few people moving about that she could see. She assumed they probably ran the small stores that lined the boardwalk. Maybe she could get help there, but at the same time, she didn't like people. She didn't trust them. But how else was she supposed to get home?

The streets of New Jersey were bustling today, it was quite busy, indeed. People walked, furiously, to and fro; hurrying to work, school and other such places. However, one woman was doing more than that. Clad in a white blouse, sky blue skirt, and black high heels, she strode purposefully down the street. If you had asked others, people who walked this road on a daily basis, they would tell you they had never seen this woman before. However, they paid her no heed, taking her for someone new to town.
Her raven black hair lifted lightly in a pleasant breeze as she turned into one of the buildings. Again, she made her way unimpeded. Through the foyer and to a nondescript elevator, she strolled quickly but nonchalantly. Pressing the button to summon the lift, her green eyes surveyed the room warily. She'd chosen not to wear contacts this time; there'd be no reason to and, if she were quite honest with herself, contacts actually bothered her a bit. She'd rather deign only to wear them she she had to impersonate a very specific description; luckily today was not that case.
As a light ding sounded, signaling the lift's arrival, she stepped inside. She allowed herself a small smirk as the doors closed; everything was going well, so far. Turning her gaze to the elevator's security camera, she waited and watched it's green light, giving herself a very vacant expression, as if she was staring off into space. When the lift reached the halfway mark up the building, the light flickered once and the woman got right to work.
Reaching up to her hairline, she slipped a nail under a sleeve of "skin" and pulled. The wig was removed easily, and she shook her head to allow her natural red curls to fall free, running her fingers through it to loosen out any knots. She bent down and felt quickly for the loose panel she had been told would be there for her. Lifting up the small square of floor, the woman removed a nondescript steel suitcase. Removing her heels and stripping out of her clothes, she pulled from the suitcase her gear; slipping into her suit and puts and strapping on her gauntlets and belt.
The woman who stepped out of the elevator on the top floor was a completely different person who had entered on the Lobby. She walked quickly, having memorized the floor plan, and found the exact room she needed in a matter of moments. She opened the double doors to find an executive office decked out with all the bells and whistles, including a desk and chair directly before a bay window. Pulling a small USB drive from within her combat suit, she began her work at the computer on the desk...
Almost complete; the progress bar was just shy of one-hundred percent…
"Well, well, well."
Natasha Romanoff looked up from the computer monitor to find the doorway blocked by three men. One of them was Vincent Petrov, the company CEO and the very man whose downfall would be thanks to the information she had been assigned to gather. the other two were most likely his bodyguards or a couple of hired grunts; they always came in pairs, somehow. Natasha leaned back in the executive chair and regarded them cooly, watching their movements. The two grunts were sidling the walls, Petrov, however, walked nonchalantly towards her with a cocky grin on his face.
"The… Black Widow, I presume…? I must say, your reputation precedes you! Of course, we know about your little… 'mission.' Y'know, you should be wary about who you give your information to; you can't be too careful, nowadays, can you?"
"Oh, don't worry. We know all about your mole." The Black Widow measured Petrov's reaction with a sly smirk creeping on her face, knowing full well the expression would help to further sow doubt and disbelief into the man. "Although, I doubt he knows… It won't matter for very long. S.H.I.E.L.D. agents probably had him in custody before I even entered the building." Natasha leaned forward, resting her elbows on the desk, and steepled her fingers. She gave him a calculating stare and said, "Tell me, Mr. Petrov. What do you hope to gain out of all this? Your company is failing, for underground business is falling and your mole has been uncovered. Do you honestly doubt that he will tell us everything?" She knew it was a tad cruel of her, but, truth be told, she enjoyed this part. The look of disbelief, the moment when they come to the realization that she's right, and the anger that comes over them afterwords and continues to cloud their judgement from that moment on. If you asked her, the punishment wasn't what came after the criminal was arrested, it was this; the moment when they realized they were doomed to fail.
Without a word, Petrov signaled for his goons to take her down. However, the Black Widow had already known this moment was coming and was already in action. Flipping over the desk, Natasha launched herself into the air. spinning in midair, as soon as she had the first henchman in sight, she withdrew two electro-disks and threw them towards his feet. One. As she spun to face the other brute, she aimed her gauntlet and fired a knockout-gas pellet, felling him instantly. Two. Done with Petrov's grunts, she turned full circle. The poor man had tried to run, but he wasn't a match for the Black Widow. He fell, easily, as she landed on his back, kicking him to the ground. "Three."
Her work done, Natasha hung the two brutes to the ceiling fan with the cable and cuffed Petrov to the Line. She returned to the desk, not at all surprised that the files were done being copied, and ejected her USB. She waltzed leisurely out of the building with Petrov's screaming curses fading behind her. As her boots hit the pavement of the lot, outside, Natasha reached up and activated the com link in her ear. "Sir. The files have been retrieved and Petrov has been subdued. I suggest sending a team to apprehend him before he hurts himself." Receiving confirmation on the other end, Natasha began the walk to her car.
Stepping smoothly inside, she revved the engine and began her long trek to her pick-up point. She'd opted for a place away from New Jersey. She really did abhor this state; it, honestly, was not the best of places. However, as she sped past a boardwalk, something caught her eye. It was a young woman. It was her clothes that caught her, nor did Natasha suspect she was a threat to any civilians. What caught her attention was her expression. In a word, the poor girl looked… lost. The Black Widow could relate to that, any day. She shook off all thoughts about the woman and continued down the road, but her thoughts always brought her back to that woman. Since childhood, Natasha had been trained to lie, seduce, and kill; and that was just her lot in life. What struck a cord in Natasha was that the girl looked as if she could use a friend. With a job like hers, Natasha had her doubts that the girl was who she appeared to be, but that didn't mean she couldn't scope out the situation…
Before she drove too far away, she swerved back around and parked a ways back from wear the girl was walking. Exiting her vehicle, Natasha grabbed a spare change of clothes and walked into a nearby changing booth on the beach. She never did mind much about having to change disguises, she really just took it as part of the job. And it never really became much of a hassle; she'd learned fast that she needed to be quick, effortless, and to leave nothing behind as evidence. So, when she stepped out, she was dressed in more 'casual' clothes than her suit, wearing a simple black blouse and faded-blue jeans. Judging by what she saw of the girl's face and body posture, she was alone, possibly lost, and wasn't quite fond of how many people were around her. Which meant she wasn't going to start any conversations herself and she'd find any offer of assistance as a sign of treachery. The Black Widow came to the conclusion that the only possible way to comfortably interact with the young woman was to force confrontation through drastic circumstances.
She walked quickly down the boardwalk, coming quickly upon the girl from behind. Natasha had learned right off the bat that some people had a sort of sixth sense; that itchy feeling that tells you that you're being watched and she'd come up with a way to avoid this: keep your focus on something nondescript either on the target or near them to keep them in your peripheral. And she did just that. Someone had left a purple sandal behind in their eagerness to leave the beach and they had yet to come to return it. Lucky for Natasha, she could spot it slightly over the girl's shoulder. When she was a mere five feet from her, Natasha pulled out her smartphone and opened her text message window as fast as she could. She made contact, hard and fast, without even paying any attention to where she was going… oops.
"Whoa, there!" Regaining her balance in the blink of an eye, Natasha quickly grabbed the woman's wrist just to make sure she didn't fall, either. "I am so sorry! Are you alright?" She looked the girl over quickly, making she actually hadn't hurt her in any way. Apologizing again, Natasha gave her a sheepish smile and stowed her phone away. "Sometimes, I really need to look where I'm going; especially when I get blown off."

Lynn's entire body froze up as she was knocked into by a stranger. Her heart bagan to race quicker than a rabbit's as her wrist was taken hold of by the woman. Her eyes went wide beneath her hood as the woman stopped her from falling over. Though, even if the woman did stop her from hurting herself, she was still highly on edge. She quickly took a few steps back from the woman, wondering if she'd be attacked or not. However, she hadn't pulled a weapon out when she put her phone away.
Lynn didn't really know how to respond to the female. She hestitated for a minute or two, watching Natasha's body language. When she realized she wasn't going to attack her, she let herself relax a bit. However, she wondered if the woman could understand Sign Language....or this would get very awkward.
"Can you understand Sign Language?" She signed out.

Subtlely, Natasha surveyed the area around her, taking note of any reactions or people she should be aware of. Naturally, it was a common collision due to cellphone usage and would go unnoticed by most people; of course, the Black Widow tended to attract more unsavory people to her and it didn't hurt to be careful. If this girl was in any trouble, or if she was in fact a criminal of some sort, she didn't want any interference from unwanted faces. Returning her attention to the woman before her, Natasha watches as the girl's forelimbs begin forming intricate signs that most on this street wouldn't be able to put a name to.
Of course, out of all the languages that Natasha had learned, it had to be one that hadn't been completely mandatory. The Black Widow had been trained to be fluent in several languages, needing to go so far as to perfect the accent associated with their various origins. However, as she got older, she'd thought it'd be handy to learn some that she hadn't been forced to; though, she doubted she was as fluent. Thankfully, she knew American Sign Language, as well. Loosening the muscles in her arms and hands, Natasha rolled her shoulders and pulled a face.
"Yes-I-know-Sign." Hesitating a moment, Natasha didn't really see the harm in pointing out her inadequacy. "I-not-have-experience. Am-slow." She looked to the girl apologetically. Momentarily, she wished that she was better at this so that she could fully communicate, but American Sign Language wasn't a necessity in her training as it wasn't a vital language to learn.

Lynn read the woman's signing, and then realized the woman assumed she was deaf. It was common for people to make the mistake, since mostly people suffering from deafness tended to use Sign Language. She really just needed to carry around a pad and paper with her..so she could write it out for people who couldn't understand her. Though, usually she was always around Kalypso who taught her how to speak Sign Language, and Kalypso usually translated what she was saying to others so she never had to explain herself...
She shook her head as she slowly signed out, "You can speak. Not deaf." She then pointed to her mouth, opening it and trying to speak--nothing came out of course--and then signed, "I'm mute." She hoped it would make conversation easier with the woman.
