Powers & Abilities
Archery: Merida’s probably the best archer in all of Scotland. She’s been training with her father since she was a wee lass and has grown quite adept at marksmanship. Rarely, if ever, does she miss a bull’s eye. Now, her arrows aren’t unbreakable; in fact, due to her mother trying to lessen Merida’s taste for the skill, she has to make her arrows, herself, and they aren’t the most durable. They’re reliable, though, and Merida usually has no real qualms about them.
Swordsmanship: Along with archery, her father’s trained her in the skills of the swordsman. Though she isn’t as proficient with a sword as she is with a bow, she still has enough aptitude to hold her ground in a fair fight.
Horseback: Merida’s been trained in equestrian training by her mum. She’s very talented at riding a horse and she’s fairly friendly with the wise creatures and they respond to her in kind. Even riding at quick speeds on horseback, Merida is skilled enough to hit a bull’s eye with her bow. The whole thing really just comes very naturally to her.
Intuitive/Deceptive: Merida’s very smart and intuitive. She successful twisted the meaning behind her mother’s words to her own advantage when it was declared “only the firstborn descendants...may compete for the fair maiden.” Of course, she convinced herself it was okay for her to compete for her own hand; what with her being the “firstborn descendant” of clan DunBroch and all. She’s almost as tricky as any Fae, so ye best be careful how you speak to her, or you might very well be eating your words.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Main/Important Equipment
Bow: Merida never goes anywhere without her trusty bow. She’s had it with her for ages and it’s been one of her most faithful companions on her various journeys. Its wood is handcarved with ancient Celtic symbols of olde magic.
Quiver: Being a natural archer, Merida wouldn’t dare go on a sojourn without a full quiver of arrows. It’s an almost permanent fixture on her person.
Angus: Her faithful horse, Angus has taken Merida on many adventures upon his back. Though a bit timid in places of powerful magic, he’s very protective of his partner and wouldn’t dare leave her in danger.
Weaknesses
Psychological Flaws...
Temper, temper...: Merida has a temper almost as fiery as her hair. She’s bold and daring and isn’t afraid to back down from a confrontation. Merida will match you blow for blow, both physically and onversationally. However, her temper can often get the best of her and she’ll either make a fool of herself or do something she deeply regrets, later on.Like turning her mum into a bear omg
Physical Flaws...
Appearances Can Be Deceiving: With soft features and a usually kind face (not to mention being a woman from her time), Merida doesn’t make a very impacting first impression. With works in contradiction to her passion as she’d rather people not treat her the way her mother often does; which is to say being domineering and/or belittling her simply for what she seems to be. This arbitrary fact often grates on her nerves, especially when people try and take advantage of her.
Other Flaws...
A Not-So-Proper Lady: Much to her mother’s ire, Merida is not what one would call a “proper lady.” She’s brash, overconfident, blatantly displays her bow, and isn’t the most etiquette princess around. And she certainly is not a good role model, having encouraged her wee brothers’ mischievous behavior on more than one occasion.
Curiousity Killed the Cat: Merida’s curiosity often gets the better of her. More often than not, she’ll blindly follow the Whisps without thinking of what they may lead her to. In fact, on more than one occasion, her curiosity has landed her in fairly dangerous situations. It’d be the death of her if she didn’t think on her feet so effortlessly.

History....
quote from wiki
**WARNING: SPOILERS ABOUND**In the Scottish kingdom of DunBroch, King Fergus presents his young daughter, Merida, with a bow and arrow for her birthday, to the discomfort of Merida's mother, Queen Elinor. During their outing, Merida briefly encountered a will-o'-the-wisp before returning to her parents as a giant bear named Mor'du attacks the family. Elinor and Merida escape while Fergus fights off the bear alongside his men at the cost of his left leg. Years later, Elinor, who has since given birth to identical triplet boys, teaches Merida in the ways of the court, such as playing an instrument and proper manners. However, as she and her mother became distant over the years, Merida prefers to practice her archery and explore the kingdom on her horse, Angus. Eventually, she learns that she is to be married to one of the first born sons from the clans in alliance with her father's: Macintosh, MacGuffin, and Dingwall. Though Elinor attempts to convince her through an old tragic story of a king's wayward son who broke ties with his brothers and brought an end to their kingdom, Merida still dislike the arranged marriage.
When the clan leaders arrive to present their first-born sons to compete for Merida's hand, she uses her mother's words of first born allowed to compete for obtain her hand to choose an archery challenge, enabling her to compete and she can defeat the others easily. When Lord Dingwall's son wins by accident, Merida makes her move and shoots the targets over Elinor's objections. The two have a falling out, resulting in Merida destroying a sewn tapestry depicting the family and Elinor throwing her daughter's bow into the fireplace. Only after Merida leaves in tears does Elinor realize her mistake; she tries to save the bow, but it is already damaged, leaving her to cry over it. Fleeing to the forest, Merida encounters a trail of will-o'-the-wisps that lead her to an elderly witch's hut. Though the witch tries to sell herself off as a simple wood carver despite her animated broom and talking crow, Merida sees through her ruse before the witch attempts to have her leave. But when Merida offers her pendant for all of the witch's wood works, she accepts while agreeing to give her a spell that will change Elinor, thus changing Merida's fate. While stating that she made such a spell before for another, the witch conjures a small cake for Merida to give to her mother.
After Merida returns to DunBroch, her father managing to ease the clan leaders, she gives Elinor the cake and is shocked to find her mother transformed into a bear. With the help of the triplets, Merida and Elinor sneak out of the castle past Fergus and the celebrating clans. The pair return to the witch's cottage, finding it empty as the witch left to gather new supplies. But when they trip a Rube Goldberg booby trap, they find a potion-controlled automated message left for Merida: the spell will be permanent unless undone by the second sunrise. The witch leaves Merida a riddle, mentioning that a bond must be repaired. The next morning, while she and Elinor begin to reconcile, Merida realizes that her mother is slowing becoming more like a bear when she nearly mauling Merida. Following the wisps to the ruins of an old castle, Merida ended up in the throne room where she finds a damaged stone engraving with three brothers; a fourth brother had been cut off. Putting two and two together, Merida realizes that her mother's story did occurred and that wayward brother's visit to the witch resulted in his transformation into Mor'du.
Realizing restoring the family tapestry is the only way to break the spell, Merida and Elinor travel back to DunBroch where they find Fergus and the lords on the verge of war. Merida brings the four factions back together using her father's war stories and, with some direction from Elinor, declares that the sons should choose their own brides. The lords accept the proposal after their sons admit their feelings towards the arranged marriage. While Merida and Elinor sneak into the tapestry room, Fergus goes to his bed chambers to tell Elinor the good news before finding her ripped clothes and broken bed, mistaking his wife for dead. He bursts into the tapestry room where he finds Merida and Elinor as her animal instincts take over before attacks Fergus. Coming to after realizing she has harmed both Merida and Fergus, Elinor flees while Fergus locks Merida in the room to set off with the lords to capture and kill the bear. But with the help of her brothers, who turned into cubs after eating what remained of the cake, Merida is freed and proceeds to sew together the tapestry as they ride after Fergus with the wisps guiding them to him as he and the others restrained Elinor. Merida defends Elinor by confronting Fergus, managing to knock him down prior to Mor'du attacks the party.
When the bear lunges for Merida, Elinor breaks free to protect her daughter and battles Mor'du. Elinor tricks Mor'du into attacking a weakened stone pillar, which eventually collapses onto and kills the demon bear, allowing his spirit to turn into a wisp and join the others. Though Merida puts the repaired tapestry on top of her wounded mother, Elinor shows no signs of returning to normal as the sun starts to rise and she begins to permanently become a bear. Merida then bursts into tears and admits that it was all her fault and that she wants her mother back. As she sobs "I love you," the rift is mended, and Elinor and the boys return to human form. Soon after, the having rekindled their own bonds, the clans go their separate ways, except for young Dingwall who has apparently fallen in love with Merida, as the ships leave, though it is revealed Merida's brothers have stowed away on Macintosh's ship, causing Fergus to go after them and the ship. Merida and Elinor ride their horses through Scotland, both having changed for the better.

A fair mist alighted on the kingdom of DunBroch. It was around midday, the sun still bright in the sky, when the clap of hooves thudded through the forest. Within the woods adjacent to King Fergus’ kingdom, a black horse rode quickly, weaving through the trees. Atop the horse, a figure was hidden with a turquoise riding cloak. Through the forest, the duo of horse and rider raced. With a shout, the rider encouraged the horse to quicken its speed. In a sudden gust of wind, the hood of the rider’s cloak was blown back to release a mane of fiery red hair, spilling forth like the rays of light licking the earth of the world.
The horse came to an abrupt halt as they exited the forest into a clearing. Arrayed before the duo was a circle of standing stone pillars. Each block of rock had its own unique shape and the area within thrummed with the pulse of magic. The girl stepped down from her faithful horse, having prepared herself for the horse’s reluctance to enter the circle. “Donnae worry, Angus.” The young maiden reassured her steed with a pat to his muzzle. Beneath her cloak, Merida, Princess of Scotland, wore her favored garments; a gown of turquoise with gold trim and elbows. The clothe was loose-fitting an allowed her to move freely. That freedom of movement was certainly needed for her passion with marksmanship. She absolutely despised restraining clothes.
Striding confidently into the circle of stone, Merida’s gaze swept the area. Behind her, Angus let out a worried snort full of concern for his caretaker and rider. After giving him a warm smile, the young girl finally heard what she had been listening for. Faint as a spring breeze, soft whispers drifted to Merida’s ears. They were whispers of promises and dreams; of fate. She turned and spotted it almost instantly. Continuing its whispered chant, the Will-o’-the-Whisp gestured for her to come closer, urging her to come with it. Looking beyond the small, blue Whisp of ethereal fire, Merida could see a trail of them leading off into the distance. It had been quite a while since she’d last encountered one of the Fae creatures. She had come to this clearing, half expecting never to see them and half expecting... she didn’t know what. As a light wind blew her cloak and gown about her lanky figure, she began to step towards the Whisp. Eagerly, it continued to gesture for her to come, to follow. Merida motioned for Angus to follow her and the horse travelled the circumference of the stone circle, still wary of the magic within.
The Whisps led her far and long; she followed them without thinking, quickly losing track of the time. Briefly, she thought of the worry and concern her parents, especially her mum, would have when she didn’t immediately come home. Ever since... the spell, her mother had been incredibly mistrustful of the Will-o’-the-Whisps. But Merida knew better; she knew they would show her the way; they would show her to where she needed to go. Everytime she got close enough to reach out and touch one, the Whisp would vanish into thin air. Afterwards, she would be left only to follow the next Whisp hidden behind it.
As the sun began to set along the horizon, Merida finally exited the woods into a new clearing, one she hadn’t yet seen. Across the way, a dense wood loomed. The tree trunks were too thick and close together to allow her to see very far into the forest and the mist hung heavily here. There was only a single break in the wall of bark and leaves. Two solitary trees, different from the others, stood guard; their bodies and branches forming a sort of archway. As she came to the entrance of the forest, the Whisp within the arch, the last in the trail leading her, vanished without warning. Merida breathed an admiring sigh as she peered up into the canopy of thick leaves, her gaze lowering to rest on the archway.
With more confidence than she imagined she had, she stepped, blinking, through the trees. In that solitary blink, her entire world changed. Instead of walking into a dense forest like she had been expecting, Merida stepped out from behind a single tree; an apple tree. A small plain of well-kept grass stretched out before her. In another moment, Angus followed hesitantly after her. Looking around, Merida felt incredibly disoreiented. Odd structures, smaller than the stone castles and wooden homes she was used to, rose along either side of a gray strip of pathway.
Her brilliant blue eyes drank in the sight of the small town of Storybrooke, Maine, her voice unusually soft. “W-where did theh Whisps lead me now?”
