So this is a little game in which you can create playlists for your characters - it's fun, and it also allows you to do a bit of a character study! regina mills 1. Shake It Out Florence and the Machine
and i've been a fool, and i've been blind i can never leave the past behind i can see no way, i can see no way
I mean. This song pretty much fits Regina word for word, so I think little explanation is needed. It's about the damage that can be done to a person if they refuse to let go of the past, how you have to let it go in order to let yourself be happy. That's really the biggest thing Regina struggles with.
2. Mama Who Bore Me Spring Awakening
mama who bore me, mama who gave me no way to handle things, who made me so bad
Because Meeks is obligated to have at least one musical song on her playlist. Also because this song is horribly horribly sad, made even more so by the fact that it fits bby!Regina and Cora's relationship so well. It reflects her anger, frustration, and sadness towards her mother - for not being there for her, for not giving her the affection and approval she strove for, for taking away everything she loved, and for molding her into the person she is.
also it's about weeping angels
3. Paint it Black The Rolling Stones
i look inside myself and see my heart is black i see my red door and must have it painted black maybe then i'll fade away and not have to face the facts
Because despite all she's been through, and despite the fact that she is in a lot of pain - a lot of Regina's actions are just plain evil. This song is much more fitting for Evil Queen!Regina - she didn't see any good left in the world, and wanted everyone and everything to become as corrupted as she was.
4. Iridescent Linkin Park
you were standing in the wake of devastation you were waiting on the edge of the unknown with the cataclysm raining down, your insides crying save me now you were there impossibly alone
This song really reflects the total desperation and sadness that this gal keeps hidden away - the part of her that's tired of fighting and just sort of wants to give up at this point. Also you get a music video as a link this time for extra feels. emo
5. Bitch Meredith Brooks
i'm a bitch, i'm a lover i'm a child, i'm a mother i'm a sinner, i'm a saint i do not feel ashamed
I think the title says it all. xDDD No, but there's a lot more to Regina than there appears to be - many more dimensions to her personality than just straight-up bitchiness. Aaaand that's what this song is about!
OH AND UM. BONUS.
6. You'll Be In My Heart Phil Collins
you'll be in my heart no matter what they say you'll be here in my heart always
You guys can shoot me for this if you want, but - this one's for Henry. character name
1. TITLE Artist

4. TITLE Artist

feel free to add/subtract song slots!

Once-ler 1. All Star Smash Mouth
Somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb In the shape of an "L" on her forehead
When Once-ler first set out to make his Thneed, he was extremely optimistic, he felt like he could do anything. However, his family continued to doubt him, putting him down, and laughing at him. Even to the point of his mother saying that she'd know he'd fail and come back home to her.
2. Welcome to Paradise Green Day
Dear Mother Can you hear me laughing? It's been 6 whole months Since I have left your home It makes me wonder why I'm still here For some strange reason it's now feelin' like my home & I'm never never gonna go
Once-ler proves to himself that he can live without his family's constant negative influence. He finds materials to make his Thneed, makes friends with the Lorax and forest animals, and produces his first Thneed. All without the help of his family.
3. Puttin' On the Ritz Taco
Different types who wear a day coat pants with stripes and cutaway coat perfect fits Puttin' on the Ritz
Greed-ler dresses to please, and also to show that he's filthy rich. He flaunts around his wealth, and doesn't care if he has a few hundred dollar bills sticking out of his coat pocket.
4. Everybody Loves Me OneRepublic
Oh my, feels just like I don't try Look so good I might die All I know is everybody loves me Head down, swaying to my own sound Flashes in my face now All I know is everybody loves me
Greed-ler was quite popular back when his business was booming. Constant cameras flashing in his face when he made public appearances, and for a rich bachelor, he probably had women chasing after him for his looks and money.
5. Viva la Vida Coldplay
For some reason I can't explain Once you go there was never Never an honest word And that was when I ruled the world
Old Once-ler constantly looks back on his past and regrets the things he'd done. He regrets being "Greed-ler" and ignore the Lorax's pleas, and destroying the forest entirely. He lost all of his friends in the forest, and betrayed their trust.

Jim Moriarty 1. I Can't Decide Scissor Sisters
It's a bitch convincing people to like you If I stop now call me a quitter If lies were cats you'd be a litter Pleasing everyone isn't like you Dancing jigs until I'm crippled Slug ten drinks I won't get pickled
Who's to say who should live and who should die? It doesn't matter to Jim, no sir! He kills who he wants, and hopes Sherlock catches on! [Quill thought this song fit Sherlock's and Jim's relationship as well haha!]
2. La Gazza Ladra (The Thieving Magpie) Rossini
Orchestrated Piece
A song Moriarty has on his iPhone, he listens to it when he breaks into the crown jewels. I think it fits him because you don't normally see others listening to classical music on their iPods anymore. And Moriarty sees himself as an old fashioned villain, so why not have an old fashioned song for his playlist?
3. Stayin' Alive Bee Gees
Well now, I get low and I get high, And if I can't get either, I really try. Got the wings of heaven on my shoes. I'm a dancin man and I just can't lose.
Moriarty has escaped Sherlock several times, keeping out of prison, and basically "stayin' alive" in his crime "business." He feels like he just can't be beat, even with Sherlock solving some of his "games."
4. I Just Can't Wait To Be King The Lion King
Everybody look left Everybody look right Everywhere you look I'm Standin' in the spotlight
Spoof Song whoops.
5. Be Prepared The Lion King
Yeah! Be prepared, we'll be prepared! For what? For the death of Sherlock. Is he sick? No, fool! We're going to kill him and John, too Great idea! Who needs Sherlock?
I SPOOFED AGAIN

oswin oswald 1. Brick by Boring Brick Paramore
She lives in a fairytale, somewhere too far for us to find Forgotten the taste and smell of the world she's left behind It's all about the exposure, the lens, I told her The angles are all wrong now that she's ripping the wings off butterflies
Basically, the whole song is about a girl who's been living in a fantasy world for so long that she's forgotten reality. "Built up a world of magic because (her) real life is tragic." Need I say more?
2. She's a Genius Jet
That girl's a genius Whoa oh oh oh oh oh oh I think she's serious Whoa oh oh oh oh oh oh
Obligatory 'Oswin-is-a-badass-flirty-genius-of-awesomeness' song. Because we need some light-hearted songs on here to balance out the emo.
3. Her Name is Alice Shinedown
This kingom, good riddance, Her freedom and innocence Has bought this whole thing down
Okay, okay, hear me out on this. This is definitely a strictly Alice song, normally, but there's a bunch of lyrics here that just say Oswin to me, mostly the section that I posted. Oswin's "freedom" and strength totally destroyed the Daleks' plan to fully convert her. I'd have posted others, but it's really only specific lines. But, there's enough for me to put it on here. And, then of course, there's "And even though she's dreaming, she's unlocked the meaning." Yeah.
4. Paradise Coldplay
When she was just a girl, she expected the world but it flew out of her reach so she ran away in her sleep and dreamed of paradise
Pretty much the same as Brick by Boring Brick. Song about a girl who escapes reality in dreams, just like Oswin. I think the lyrics I posted say it all, really.

Alucard 1. Zerstören Rammstein
Iche wurde gern etwas zerstoren (I would like to destroy something) Doch es darf nicht mir gehoren (But only if it doesn't belong to me) Ich will ein guter junge sein (I want to be a good boy) Doch das verlangen holt mich ein (But the desire overtakes me) Ich muse zerstoren (I must destroy)
Once upon a time, Alucard was a human as any other. He was a Crusader for God, and fought in holy wars in His name. But when he lost and was on the verge of execution, he felt betrayed and forsaken, and so he turned his back on God and drank of the blood of the battlefield. Ever since that day, he's never stopped utterly destroying anything and everything he's fought against. Somewhere, deep, deep down inside of what's left of Alucard's he art, a small, tiny fragment of humanity still survives. That tiny pieces is apalled at what he's done, and wants to find a way to be redeemed and forgiven, but.... All he can do is destroy, and destroy, and destroy.
2. Warrior Disturbed
Broken down 'till your hope has died Beat down 'till the victory is mine Stand up and show me some pride And now, are you ready?
As mentioned above, Alucard has always been a warrior. Even as a mere human he was a terrifyingly skilled warrior, and all but invincible in single combat. When he forsook God and became a vampire, this only soared to all new dark heights. He was confident, arrogant, and all but assured of his own invincibility. He belittles and mocks opponents, breaking them down piece by piece before destroying them, and above all, he enjoys battle.
3. Monster Skillet
It's hiding in the dark, its teeth are razor sharp There's no escape for me, it wants my soul it wants my heart No one can hear me scream, maybe it's just a dream Or maybe it's inside of me, STOP THIS MONSTER!
Going back to the subject of Alucard's humanity, this again plays on that lingering fragment of his human self. It's appalled and terrified of what he has done, and wishes for some way to redeem himself and find forgiveness and penance. It has even driven Alucard to tears when he remembers the events that drove him to become the monster he is now.
4. Hell Destroyer Cage
I'm sentencing hell to a permanent fate! Armies and legions I obliterate! All your cities and towers I render to dust! All of you stand before me - Powerless now die by the hand of the Hell, hell, hell destroyer - Hell, hell, hell destroyer Hell, hell, hell destroyer - The annihilation of hell
Alucard is a monster among monsters; a true devil among lesser demons that walk the night. He's been called Satan himself, and is unquestionably powerful enough to obliterate entire worlds without any great effort at his full might, explaining why he is so greatly restrained and watched. He is the king of the night, the mightiest of the things that prowl the darkness, he is the King of Hell and all that walk among it. And he is proud of that fact.
5. When You're Evil Voltaire
When the Devil is too busy, and death's a bit too much... They call on me, by name you see, for my special touch~ To the gentlemen I'm Miss Fortune, the the ladies I'm Sir Prize! But call me by any name, any way it's all the same!
Whoops I semi-spoof'd. But in all seriousness. Alucard is unquestionably evil. The only thing keeping him even vaguely on the side of good is the orders of his Master. Without Integra, Alucard would be one of the single most dangerous creatures to walk the night. He is evil incarnate. He enjoys his work without question. He long ago swore his soul away by drinking the blood of a battlefield, and becaome a soulless abomination of pure, unfettered evil. He can literalyl become shadow, monsters, cast illusions, invade your nightmares, and plant tohughts and terrors in your skull. Alucard is Evil. And he does his work simply because it amuses him.

belle 1. Complicated Avril Lavigne
if you could only let it be, you will see, i like you the way you are. you fall and you crawl and you break, and you take what you get and you turn it into, honesty and promise me i'm never gonna find you fake it
This, suprisingly, fits Belle's relationship with Rumpelstiltskin pretty well. Every time she asks him to let things go or not to use magic or take revenge, he makes a promise to her tat he won't. And then he ends up breaking that promise. Belle only wants to be with Rumpelstiltskin, but his hate and his magic continuously gets in the way and he has nothing to show for it. However, Belle won't give up on him.
2. I Melt With You Bowling For Soup
i'll stop the world and melt with you, you've seen the difference and it's getting better all the time, there's nothing you and i won't do, i'll stop the world and melt with you.
Because I like the Bowling For Soup version better, sorry. :T But, yeah. All Belle really wants is to love and be loved by Rumpelstiltskin. No hate, no magic, no revenge or feuds (I'm looking at you, Regina). Belle has seen what it's like when she and Rumpelstiltskin are together with only their love and she wants that every day, whatever it takes.
3. Breakaway Kelley Clarkson
grew up in a small town, and when the rain would fall down, i'd just stare out my window. dreaming of what could be, and if i'd end up happy, i would pray.
Belle has spent her whole life dreaming of more. Growing up in a village that didn't give her the potential to do anything, Belle dreamed of adventure, of being the hero. She dreamed of living the wonders found in her books. She'd give almost anything for that.
4. Who Will I Be Demi Lovato
if i decide i'm the girl to change the world, i can do it anytime, opportunity right in front of me, and the choice is all mine. why not try everything? why stop? reach for any dream!
Most people don't seem to like Camp Rock, but I do. So tough. >T Anyway! Belle fully believes that anyone can reach their dreams as long as they believe in themselves. She loves having the opportunity to do absolutely anything and able to be anyone she can dream.
5. Feathery Wings Aurelio Voltaire
i wish i could protect you here, oh, please don't cry. i need you here, i need to see you smile.
Belle loves Rumpelstiltskin with all her heart. She'd do anything for him and only wants to see him happy.

Raidou Kuzunoha XIV
1. SING SING SING Benny Goodman (written by Louis Prima)
Sing Sing Sing Sing All ya' got to do is sing La-de-dah Oh-ho-ho Now you're singin' with a swing...
Ohohoho! Now we've got some real swing music here! This tune really just screams that whole 1920's-1930's-1940's era to me. I picked the lyric-less one as I believe it fits Raidou better. It just contains all the flavor of that era, and frankly, is easy to see Raidou fight to (and dance to, if he danced). I just can't play a character with a clean concious without posting this song. I suppose the fact that it's silent, while also being so flavorful fits Raidou, but really, I just love it and that's why it's here.
2. I'M JUST A GIGOLO/I AIN'T GOT NOBODY Louis Prima
I'm just a gigolo and everywhere I go, People know the part I'm playin'. Pay for every dance, sellin' each romance, Ooohh what they're sayin'? There will come a day, when youth will pass away, What will they say about me? When the end comes I know, there was just a gigolo's Life goes on without me.
This song was sort of a impulsive pick for dear Raidou. Mainly, it was picked because I love Louis Prima, and it fits the era-- and it's totally something he, or at least Gouto, would listen to. Second, the song is meant to refer to how now matter what he does as Raidou, on one will ever really know Raidou as anything other than 'Raidou Kuzunoha XIV', which is actually something he doesn't mind-- hence the happy, jovial, and joking mood of the song. It also to me points out how Raidou is basically a cold fish-- I can't see him getting a girlfriend...ever. Really though, it's only here because I love it and can see Gouto listening to it xD
3. I NEED A HERO Bonnie Tyler
I need a hero! I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night. He's gotta be strong and he's gotta be fast and he's gotta be fresh from the fight. I need a hero! I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light. He's gotta be sure and it's gotta be soon and he's gotta be larger than life! Larger than life.
Hey! Time for songs that actually fit Raidou. At any rate, Raidou has compulsive hero syndrome. And if that doesn't get him into some sort of trouble, he also has the habit of winding up in that position from even the most innocuous of meetings. Hell, his job description requires him to be a hero! And so, I picked this song to showcase how Raidou is almost super-heroic in his deeds and general existence. He's a hero! And generally, people need him. He's rescued at least nine damsels in the space of two games, as well as the world several times over-- that's gotta count for something! Failing that, it represents the world need for people like Raidou, in both SMT and here on AM.
4. EYES WIDE OPEN Gotye
So this is the end of the story Everything we had, everything we did Is buried in dust And this dust is all that's left of us And only a few ever worried
Gotye's 'Eyes Wide Open' is a song about people being aware of the world around them collapsing but refusing to or unable to act, and perceived hopelessness from a repeating past. And I believe part of it fits a facet of Raidou I hope to portray on here, and bits that came across in both 'Raidou Kuzunoha XIV vs' games. Basically, it first off reminds me of Radiou Kuzunoha XL, whose life generally sucks because of the state of the future, and whose themes and motivation I plan on portraying as affecting XIV. Meanwhile, Raidou, who also is suffering from a bout of time traveling awareness, is becoming more and more aware of the fact that his actions as Raidou might not actually be able to affect the hellish future that XL was from and claimed to be wishing to avert. But despite this, he still marches towards it bravely, which is another part of the song, yet constantly contemplates and considers his various actions. "Walking the plank wide open", so to speak. I would also like to clear up, XIV is not obsessed over XL persay-- it's simply his situation has made him start to reevaluate himself compared to XL in a theoretical perspective. Raidou hasn't been going a game secretly angsting over XL or anything, but it's come to the forfront of his mind with his recent timey wimey stuff. It also has a bit of Raidou's views on his now impending World War II that he is now cursed with a bird's eye view of. I consider this XL's Song more than XIV's however.
5. THE SHOW MUST GO ON Queen
Another hero Another mindless crime Behind the curtain In the Pantomime Hold the line! Does anybody want to take it anymore?
The Show must go on!
This song is basically the 'XIV' part of the 'XL vs XIV' equation. XL meets a world crushing tragedy and does attempt to fight it, but ultimately crumbles from it, ever aware of it (Eyes Wide Open). He becomes fatalistic, and willing to sacrifice his values and other's lives in order to prevent tragedy. XIV, previously unaware of that sort of world view, finds a world crushing tragedy in inevitable and also attempts to fight it. But the difference between the two is the fact that XL fell from grace, and fell from Raidou Kuzunoha XL to something worse. XIV is the opposite however. If anything, he would meet horrible adversity and become better for it. Kuzunoha XIV, to me at least, is just the kind of person that would endure catastrophe, like an apocalyptic scenario or something of that like, but move forward through the dark inevitability as the same person he was before, and most of all, still persevere. This song is basically about 'the show' threatening to end, wither it ought to end, and over coming the idea of it ending or willing through the end-- the show must go on. In short, it's a song about a furious desire to live and push through in spite of vanishing strength. Extra note ought to be taken to show that this was Freddie Mercury's 'Swan Song' of a sort, and was a musical chronicle of his last days as he died from AIDs.

the tenth doctor 1. Until the End Breaking Benjamin
surround me, it's easy to fall apart completely i feel you creeping up again
Almost every line of this song fits the Tenth Doctor so well, it's ridiculous. The song says a lot about going on these endeavors and living on to see another day, which is something of a big theme in Doctor Who, particularly Ten's run and the new series. Some of the lines don't fit as well, but this song is still my go-to song for Ten muse.
2. You Know My Name Chris Cornell
i've seen diamonds cut through harder men than you yourself, but if you must pretend you may meet your end
This song is much more serious/conflict!Tenth Doctor. While it doesn't exactly fit Ten because it talks about killing, it's really fitting to Ten's attitude towards people who threaten to kill people. Basically, it says that if you kill anyone, the Doctor will stop at nothing to stop you from killing again.
3. Anthem of the Angels Breaking Benjamin
days go on forever but i have not left your side we can chase the dark together if you go then so will i
Wow Bawb this is such an emo song. OKAY, so this song... it really makes me think of the Tenth Doctor whenever he loses a companion. You can just see how sad he is that he's lost this person that he cared so much about. This song is all about losing someone you care about and that happens to the Doctor way too often.
4. Dance With the Devil Breaking Benjamin
say goodbye as we dance with the devil tonight don't you dare look at him in the eye
Huh.... the Doctor has collected such a big rogue's gallery over the years, but there remains those few who manage to be his biggest foes. The Master, Davros, the Daleks, the Cybermen, etc. ... They've all managed to work their way into the Doctor's top enemies. This song, I think, accurately describes the Doctor's attitude towards his more hated foes.
5. Doctor Who Theme Artist
doo whee ooh
duh.

Sparda 1. Cry Thunder DragonForce
Cry Thunder! Sword in his hand Titans of justice, fearless we stand Cry Thunder! Strong in command Blessed by the union, freedom of man
Could there be a better-fitting anthem for righteous warriors like the Legendary Dark Knight? Two thousand years ago, he gave up everything he knew and betrayed his entire race to protect humanity from Mundus' tyranny, and would gladly do so again if the need arose.
2. Citizen/Soldier 3 Doors Down
Citizen soldiers, holding the light For the ones that we guide from the dark of despair Standing on guard for the ones that we've sheltered We'll always be ready because we will always be there
Much the same anthemic message here. Like any nation's territorial army, Sparda stands beside the common man, ready to rise up in their defence whenever he needs to.
3. Iconoclast Symphony X
With rage, we ride into the flames Striking with spears of hate at the heart where evil reigns Holding the line from the charge of armoured steeds Gather around this deadly ground, come watch the war god bleed
A battle theme, if anything; a challenge to be issued to those villains who think themselves able to best Sparda, whose infamous power has brought gods and armies to their knees.
4. Focus Shall Not Fail All That Remains
Now my conscience shall dictate my way No more apologies, no more mistakes Now solid direction has strengthened my resolve Fear not for consequences
The perfect description of the iron-clad determination Sparda had to command absolutely in order to achieve what he has in the past. When something he values is at stake, the Dark Knight never kneels, never quits - and never loses.
5. Dagon Deathlike Silence
Dagon! - The elder god of evil Dagon! - Before his might you'll kneel Dagon! - Or devour you he will Dagon! - And no one hears your squeal
Yes, that Dagon - the Lovecraftian Eldritch monstrosity. This rather menacing track is reserved for those truly monstrous villains who are so evil, so malignantly powerful and so damnably arrogant as to have invoked Sparda's deeply buried demonic bloodlust as well as the full extents of his gargantuan power - and sealed their death warrants. When all chips are down and failure absolutely isn't an option for the Dark Knight, the last thing you want to do is truly piss him off, because he'll be all too happy to make you suffer before he makes you regret it.

morgana pendragon 1. Losing Your Memory Ryan Star
wake up, it's time, little girl, wake up just remember who i am in the morning you're losing your memory now
I can't - literally cannot - describe all the Morgana feels this song gives me. She is a woman who's slowly losing herself to darkness, and this song describes her slowly dying purer, kinder side pleading with herself to 'wake up' from the bitterness she's been consumed by. She is, in a way, losing sigh - or 'memory' - of who she used to be. ALSO the first verse, omg. It's just perfect for explaining how much losing her closest friends has ruined her. She knows there's no going back, and although she's far too stubborn to admit of it, a part of her really, really wishes things could be the way they used to be.
"I would have died, I would have loved you all my life" - ugh, there's just so many people that statement could apply to. arthur, gwen, merlin, even uther. if things had been different.
2. Kings and Queens 30 Seconds to Mars
we were the kings and queens of promise we were the victims of ourselves maybe the children of a lesser god between heaven and hell
This is, in part, a direct reference to Morgana's royal heritage - and how her father, the king, always denied her as his daughter. More than that, though, this song describes all the potential Morgana once had, and how hard she fought to achieve it - only to have it all come crashing down around her. She was truly only trying to do the right things, but is in many ways a 'victim of herself'.
3. Seven Devils Florence & the Machine
holy water cannot help you now see i've come to burn your kingdom down and no rivers and no lakes can put the fire out i'm gonna raise the stakes, i'm gonna smoke you out
Had to throw one song in here to represent Morgana's inevitable dark, bloodthirsty side - and this song most certainly does. It describes how utterly corrupted she has become - both by outside influences, and by a darkness deep within herself. It also illustrates her sole, ruthless goal of bring Camelot to its knees and murdering Uther Pendragon. She doesn't want to negotiate, or bargain, or be reasoned with - she just wants the king dead, and she wants to take power in his place. badass bonus video
4. No Bravery James Blunt
brothers lie in shallow graves fathers lost without a trace a nation blind to their disgrace since he's been here
Morgana's hatred towards Uther is obviously, at this point, a major part of her character - and I think that this song reflects her views towards him at the time when she first decided to turn against him. Morgana believes that Uther destroys everything he touches. For years, she's watched him slaughter her people simply out of his own fear and hatred. He is not the king that Camelot deserves - and this song is an excellent representation of Morgana spitefully (and sadly) criticizing him for that. "And I see no bravery in your eyes anymore" could refer to Uther - or it could refer to Arthur, who Morgana desperately hopes will be a better king than his father - but when Arthur not only refuses to challenge Uther, but also sides with him, that's what causes Morgana to turn against him as well.
5. Superboy and the Invisible Girl Next to Normal
superboy and the invisible girl son of steel, and daughter of air he's a hero, a lover, a prince she's not there
OBLIGATORY MUSICAL SONG. This is another family-centric one. Arthur, Uther's son, is praised, respected, and made heir to the thrown - he is the prince everyone adores, the one that gets all the attention. Morgana, meanwhile, is also Uther's child...and yet, because she was born out of wedlock, he refuses to even acknowledge being related to her let alone acknowledge her right to the throne. When she confronts him about this, Uther all but admits to being ashamed of her - and that, despite all of her previous anger towards him, causes her a lot of pain.

team TARDIS 1. SKYFALL Adele
Let the sky fall When it crumbles We will stand tall Face it together At skyfall
So, let's be real here. Team TARDIS has probably faced a lot of shit together by this point, and probably came pretty close to dying on multiple occasions. But, what do they do when that happens? They stand up and face it like the bunch of badasses they are and usually get out of it somehow because they're just that awesome. And, that's basically what this song's about, facing 'skyfall' head-on and with no fear.
2. WHERE WE BELONG Thriving Ivory
Hold on, we're gonna make it if it takes all night, hearts racing like a rocket at the speed of light. Don't fight it, we've been running for far too long, we're going back where we belong
As the title says, this song is about returning to a place where you belong, and that's what a lot of team TARDIS (i.e. Rose) has done on AM. They've all been separated from the Doctor and the TARDIS, but on this site and in this place, they've all come together again. And, it sort of says that no matter how many adventures all of them go on together and where they go, at the end of the day, they're always going to go back to that blue box they're all calling home now.
3. KEEP HOLDING ON Avril Lavinge
You're not alone, together we stand I'll be by your side, you know I'll take your hand When it gets cold, and it feels like the end There's no place to go, you know I won't give in.
Hey. Team TARDIS isn't called a team for nothing. These guys might argue and fight and Oswin might have to constantly have to keep Eleven and Ten from bickering like a pair of five year olds, but in the end, they've got each other's backs. Saving each other's lives and the lives of the people they're defending is a near-daily occurrence, and this song highlights that even though they're all different, there's a lot of support in having seven people all together on the TARDIS.
4. MOUNTAIN SOUND Of Monsters and Men
I heard them calling in the distance, so I packed my things and ran. Far away from all the trouble I had caused with my own two hands Alone we traveled on, armed with nothing but a shadow We fled far away.
Rag-tag team of misfits decides to go traveling together into THE UNKNOWN? Sounds like Team TARDIS. There's another verse that helps this song fit them even more, about the people the singer's traveling with having scars and how they weren't anything like the rest, but alas, only 3-4 lines allowed and the first verse is better in the context. But, yes. The song is essentially about a group of people traveling together. No more, no less and that fits Team TARDIS to a tee.

the girl who can and the oncoming storm 1. THE BEAUTY UNDERNEATH Love Never Dies
Have you ever yearned to go past the world you think you know, Been enthralled to the call of the beauty underneath? Have you let it draw you in, past the place where dreams begin, Felt the full, breathless pull of the beauty underneath?
Like Meeks, Jemi must have one musical song per playlist. Usually. Except this musical kinda sucks except for this one song. And, out of context of the musical, it really fits Oswin and the Doctor. Oswin is the first companion to actively want to enter the world of exploring the universe right from the get-go, and had already tried and failed to do so before. And, I think the Doctor sort of likes that, having a companion so willing and ready to come along with him. Seeing as this song is (out of context) about entering a world of beauty that only a select few can see, I think if definitely fits.
2. KING AND LIONHEART Of Monsters and Men
And as the world comes to an end I'll be here to hold your hand 'Cause you're my king and I'm your lion-heart.
Okay, so number one, it's about two people facing the world (or the universe) together, and traveling around to do so. Definitely Oswin and Ten, even at the surface. But the titles 'king' and 'lion-heart' are what really makes it them, especially from Oswin's point of view. The Doctor is a king to her because he's a hero, her hero. If there had to be one single most important person in her life, it would have to be him. And that makes her the lion-heart, the one who's meant to face everything beside him, and do so with all the bravery she's got.
3. ORDINARY DAY Vanessa Carlton
Please come with me, see what I see Touch the stars for time will not flee Time will not flee, can't you see
If this song wasn't written for the Doctor and his companion, I will eat several shoes. Really, this could apply to any of the companions, but since this playlist is focusing on Oswin and the Doctor, we'll just go ahead and apply it to them. But yeah. A song about a man who wants to take a girl along to do what could sound like traveling the universe? How can this not be a good song for them?
4. YOU RAISE ME UP Josh Groban
When I am down, and, oh, my soul, so weary When troubles come, and my heart burdened be Then, I am still and wait here in the silence Until you come and sit awhile with me.
omfg cheesy alert. I'M SORRY THIS IS ACTUALLY THE MOST PREDICTABLE SONG. But it gives me feelings and therefore, onto the playlist it goes. And it's sort of true. For all the unhealthy hero-worship and clinging, the Doctor's mere presence makes Oswin even braver and stronger than she was before. She's sort of like Jack in that the Doctor's made her want to be a better person, if only because she wants his approval and to be a good companion so badly.
5. I KNOW YOU CARE Ellie Goulding
Yeah, I know you care I see it in the way that you stare As if there was trouble ahead, and you knew it I'll be saving myself from the ruin
All right, let's close this thing off with some ANGST. Because Oswin is just so much in denial about ever having to leave this life of adventure and traveling, and I think the Doctor either doesn't have the heart to tell her that she'll have to leave at some point or he doesn't want to believe it himself either. So, this song is sort of both of them ignoring the inevitable.

image coming soonjack and oswin 1. ANGEL WITH A SHOTGUN The Cab
They say before you start a war, You better know what you're fighting for. Well baby, you are all that I adore, If love is what you need, a soldier I will be.
I'm pretty sure this song could fit pretty much any OTP ever, but it really stood out as being Jack and Oswin for me. Mostly because HEY it's actually kind of badass, and most love songs really...aren't. It sort of fits for a couple who's dates usually involve time-traveling adventures and chasing down hostile alien threats. The references to a more...action-packed side of love were what made it stand out to me as fitting these two, and it's my definitive mood music for them.
2. BIRDS AND BOATS Gregory and the Hawk
But you can skyrocket away from me And never come back if you find another galaxy Far from here with more room to fly Just leave me your stardust to remember you by
WHOA ANGST. But, ah, the trails of having an immortal boyfriend. Or, a mortal girlfriend, whichever way you want to look at it. Thing is, though neither of them really want to acknowledge it, Oswin is really just going to be a blip on Jack's life, seeing as he can't ever die. And while they both just sort of ignore the elephant in the room, that doesn't make it go away. So, really, this song could be from either one's point of view, hoping there'll be something to remember each other by whenever Jack leaves to keep from hurting Oswin, or Oswin herself dies.
3. WHEN CAN I SEE YOU AGAIN? Owl City
Switch on the sky and the stars glow for you Go see the world ‘cause it’s all so brand new Don’t close your eyes ‘cause your future is ready to shine It’s just a matter of time before we learn how to fly
So, for all the time Jack spends with Team TARDIS, he's not actually a full time member, seeing as he's currently the only member of Torchwood around. And he's probably perfectly aware of Oswin's wanderlust, and though she's a part-time member of Torchwood, I think he knows better than to keep her tied down in Cardiff, opting to let her travel with the Doctor instead. But, that's not to say that neither of them don't want to see each other again when they have to temporarily part, aaaaand this song is about that.
4. HOWL Florence and the Machine
If you could only see the beast you've made of me I held it in but now it seems you've set it running free Screaming in the dark, I howl when we're apart Drag my teeth across your chest to taste your beating heart
...how do I word this for a family appropriate site? Jack and Oswin tend to get rather...heated when they're alone. And to not have a song acknowledging that on this playlist would be doing them something of a disservice. You may all take that in any way you like. But, really, half of this pairing is Captain Jack Harkness. What do you expect?
BONUS TRACK
ALL I ASK OF YOU John Barrowman and Claire Moore
Then say you'll share with me One love, one life time Let me lead you from your solitude Say you'll need me with you, here, beside you Anywhere you go, let me go too
For obvious reasons. And for the best AU ever.

sarafine duchannes 1. COSMIC LOVE Florence and the Machine
and in the dark i can hear your heartbeat i tried to find the sound but then it stopped, and i was in the darkness so darkness i became
I think in a metaphorical sense, this is an excellent song to describe what going Dark is like - especially for a Cataclyst like Sarafine. At first, it's a total rush of exhilaration and power. But then, quickly, their entire world starts to shut down, the people they once cared about grow distant - they can still sense that they're there, but they've become essentially 'unreachable'. Everything becomes cold, and dark, and hopeless - and the Dark Caster is alone.
2. WEDDING DRESS Matt Nathanson
so we lie here in the dark all the wrong things on fire in sickness and in health to be with you, just to be with you
Okay, as beautiful as this song is - a frequent, idiotic mistake people make is interpreting it as a happy, romantic piece. They even play it at their fucking weddings, which is the most awk thing because the song is actually about a relationship that's crumbling apart. But yeah, back on topic - essentially, this is the perfect song for Sarafine during the time she was living with John. They'd run away together, she'd married him, he was all she had to cling to in order to prevent herself from going totally Dark - and yet, gradually, she began to realize that it was just never going to be enough. That she'd eventually lose him, and everything else, including herself. And even through that, she kept on pretending that everything was - and was going to continue to be - alright.
3. DANCE WITH THE DEVIL Breaking Benjamin
i believe in you, i can show you that i can see right through all your empty lies i won't stay long in this world so wrong say goodbye as we dance with the devil tonight
Kind of my go-to mood music for Dark!Sarafine - and I think it wonderfully describes the process of Abraham corrupting her; how he turned her against the people she cared about and lead her into total evil and darkness - and most importantly, made her lose faith in the concepts of goodness and humanity entirely.
4. GONE FOREVER Three Days Grace
and i feel so much better now that you're gone forever i tell myself that i don't miss you at all i'm not lying, not denying that i feel so much better now that you're gone forever
Rather than 'mourning' the loss of someone else, I feel this song describes Sarafine's feelings for the person she used to be before she went Dark. The emotions, the fear, the pain, the loss, the guilt - they all complicated things, and it became much easier for her when she allowed herself to stop fighting it and just cease feeling altogether. There's a part of her that knows what she lost, and hates what she's become - or at least, knows she should hate it, but she aggressively denies that that part of herself exists.
5. WALK THROUGH THE FIRE Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Once More with Feeling
i touch the fire and it freezes me i look into it and it's black why can't i feel, my skin should crack and peel i want the fire back
AS ALWAYS I NEED TO HAVE A MUSICAL SONG ON MY PLAYLISTS OFC. This one applies mostly to ICC!Sarafine, in the period of her development before she contracted to turn Light. As she formed proper bonds with people, she began to slowly become aware of how screwed up she was - and her distant emotions and such finally began to scare her. She finally started to think to herself, 'I should be feeling things, the way everyone else does'. And though the concept of having emotions again terrified her, she eventually decided to brave it and 'walk through the fire' for the people she cared about.
what AM character is assigned to which other parts in the song is up for interpretation :] may add more to this later, but, y'know
