Red hadn't really expected this lull after the curse had broken. Everyone was tense and on-edge, waiting for something to happen...but the thing was, nothing was happening. Nothing exciting, anyway. The Evil Queen had barely been spotted since the breaking of the curse, and Rumpelstiltskin was keeping to himself as well. Whatever the reasons behind the two greatest threats in all the land being so deadly quiet were, Red didn't like it. The two of them were most likely up to something, waiting for the opportune moment to strike. And whenever they decided to, Red was going to make sure she was ready for them. After all the people of Storybrooke had been through, no one else deserved to get hurt.
But keeping everyone safe was proving to be...well, kind of a more difficult task than Red had imagined it being. She and Granny had been working closely with Snow, Charming, Emma, and the dwarves to keep Storybrooke in order - but God, there was so much to do. So many people's problems to take care of. Not that Red had any problem with helping people, but she'd never had to help so many all at once. It seemed like every day, something new was wrong in Storybrooke - something even worse than the problems that had been presented the day before. For instance, as if they didn't already all have enough to deal with, today Red had heard several of the fairies frantically spouting about an actual dragon that had been spotted in the woods. The Blue Fairy had been quick to condescend, telling them that it was all nonsense and that there were no dragons here, but Red had seen the lack of conviction in her eyes.
Something was up. And she was going to find out just what it was.
Of course, going after what was quite possibly a dragon alone probably wasn't the best idea in the entire world. Even Red, confident as she was, wasn't quite prepared to take on something like that by herself. So naturally, the first person she'd thought to turn to was none other than Snow White. Anyone who had read Henry's book of fairytales would probably scoff at the idea of Snow White being able to handle something like this - but anyone who did had clearly never met Snow. She was capable of far more than most people imagined, and she was one of Red's oldest and dearest friends. Truth be told, there was really no one she'd rather venture off into danger with - it'd be just like old times!
She'd headed over to the town hall, the most likely place to find Snow and Charming - and others who gathered to discuss town business - these days. "Snow? You in here?" Red called as she walked in, lowering the hood of her cloak and peering around with keen interest.
((headcanon: if they don't actually find a dragon, bloo fry was trollin'))
