Back to Storybrooke. Seemed like Oswin and the Doctor stopped by here quite a bit, actually, but she couldn't really complain. It wasn't as though it wasn't an interesting place, and there were plenty of people to provide help for. Unfortunately, the Doctor had a bit of a habit of sticking Oswin with 'watch-the-TARDIS-i'll-be-back-in-ten-minutes' duty. Meaning that Oswin usually spent her time in Storybrooke not watching the TARDIS and wandering about to her hearts content. Because, really, did he actually expect her to stay behind? Not a chance.
A park wasn't really what she'd been hoping for, but it was sort of nice to just sit for awhile. Not that time-traveling and saving worlds wasn't the best thing to ever happen to her ever, but Oswin did need a bit of a break every now and again. Unfortunately, she couldn't just sit there and be completely normal. Nope. Not a chance. From the utility belt around her waist, which was ever-present, no matter if she were wearing her red dress or not, Oswin had drawn out one of her many pieces of tech, and was currently fiddling with it in her lap.
Totally normal. Especially considering that most of the residents weren't quite familiar with things like this. Not that that really stopped Oswin, though. It wasn't as though anyone really cared to ask, seeing as most of them kept to the town, which left Oswin free to attempt to get her communicator working. Not that the one on her wrist wasn't effective. It was, and she'd used it quite a few times to contact the Doctor, but having a backup was never a bad idea, especially when one was adventuring.
Her fingers moved deftly in the circuitry, replacing this and tightening that. She'd found this thing on the TARDIS, so who knew how old it was or how long it had been there? It resembled something she was familiar with, though, which was why she'd picked it up in the first place. There wasn't much future technology to be found around where she and the Doctor had been recently, and while she certainly wasn't homesick, Oswin did like to have access to the things she would have taken for granted in her own time period.

Though she had mostly all but disappeared off of Storybrooke's radar since the curse had broken, it was becoming more and more plain that lurking in the metaphorical shadows was no longer becoming an option. Her mother - somehow - had escaped Wonderland and reappeared back in Storybrooke. And Regina would have rather faced a thousand angry mobs than deal with Cora again. But that wasn't what had motivated her to come out into the open - she wasn't exactly Storybrooke's most popular resident, after all, and she didn't expect any of them to be willing to help her face her mother. No one ever had - not even her father - so calling asking anyone in Storybrooke for help a longshot was an understatement.
But if Cora was here, then she was most certainly up to something, and Regina feared less for her own life than she feared what her mother would do to anyone she deemed 'close' to Regina. Most likely, if the vengeance-motivated reasons for Regina's curse were still unknown to her, Cora would go after Snow. If she found Snow, she'd find Emma. If she found Emma, she'd find Henry. And Regina couldn't bring herself to think of the consequences that would result. She could no longer hide herself away, not if her mother was in town - if something were to happen, Regina would need to know about it, and fast. And above all, she would need to protect Henry.
She'd kept a careful distance from her son when he'd been playing in the park earlier that day, feigning disinterest in him and not even allowing him to see her - but she watched him all the same, just in case. He'd since gone home for lunch, which meant that Regina herself had very little reason to stay here any longer. She'd been heading home when she'd spotted the brunette sitting at a bench nearby. If the odd device she was currently fidgeting with didn't clue Regina in, the familiar face soon did in the next moment - and she blinked in surprise. For once, her reaction to seeing a visitor in Storybrooke was not a hostile one. While she was not one to toss around the term 'friend' lightly, Oswin was perhaps one of the few people who she trusted somewhat - and who's company didn't make her irritable - and for Regina, that was saying a lot.
"Oswin," she greeted, her tone surprised but not unpleasant as she approached. "I can't say I expected to see you here. Everything alright?" She wasn't sure whether or not to assume that Oswin's reason for visiting Storybrooke was a bad one - and a part of her immediately connected that assumption to something Cora might have done.
