Jefferson had been searching since he'd left Regina's front porch. His hand covered the pocket within his jacket, recalling upon the doodle created by Grace saying she was looking for him. He was conflicted between wanting to find her, and not wanting to. What if she was angry with him for never coming back and breaking his promise? What if she hated him and never wanted to see him again?
However, with a little chat with Regina's--no, Emma's boy, Henry, he got that tiny push to reunite with Grace. He'd discovered from his chat with Henry that Grace, or Paige rather, had attended school with him.
Something in him forced him to look for Grace. He wasn't sure what, but Regina's words echoed in his mind as he made his way towards the school. "You don't abandon family."
No, he wasn't going to abandon Grace when she was looking for him. Especially since she was looking for him in particular. He would find her, he would, and he'd keep his promise. He hid behind a telephone pole as he watched her walk off the bus. It took him a few seconds to muster up his courage to call out to her.
"Grace!"
Paige, no, Grace stopped as she heard the voice call out to her. She turned to see the one person she'd been looking for all this time since the Curse had lifted.
"Papa!" She called out as she ran to him.
Their arms wrapped around one another as Jefferson held his daughter close to him.
"I knew you would find me, Papa." Grace said into her father's chest.
Jefferson's eyes glistened with tears. He finally had his daughter back, his Grace. He kissed the top of her head as he rubbed her back soothingly.
"I'm so sorry, Grace, I broke our promise."
"It's okay, Papa. You're here now, it's okay."
Jefferson leaned back from his daughter's embrace, still crouching down to keep eye level with her. He smiled, "Well, I guess we'll just have to have a tea party then."
Of course, first he'd have to figure out who Grace was currently staying with. He'd have to see if he could take Grace home with him, he was her father after all.
"And Grace...from now on, I'd like you to come home and live with me." He said softly.
The young girl nodded her head, a few tears streaking down her cheeks. "I would like that, Papa. I would like that very much."
Jefferson rose to his full height, gently taking his daughter's hand, as he began to walk with her.
"You're going to love it, Grace. It's a very large house, much bigger than our last. We'll have lots of rooms to explore together..." He hadn't touched many rooms in the house due to Paige not living with him during the Curse. Many were made for Grace to play in, like a dressing room for play acting, and a room for a giant tea party. Rooms that a little girl would enjoy having so much fun in.
And now they finally had a purpose again.
