Meanwhile, in another more secluded part of the city, a man was being held at gunpoint and was begging for his life. The mugger didn't care about the man's desperate pleas and would not hesitate to shoot if the man didn't give over his money. Batman would have to deal with this one with some care. All of the petty thieves and muggers on the streets of Gotham were afraid of Batman, so if the mugger saw anyone that even looked like Batman approaching, he would fire and take all of the man's money. Thankfully, the Dark Knight knew better than to approach an armed opponent directly. Batman was perch on the roof just above the two. His first move was to throw a batarang at the attacker. On impact, the attacker's weapon flew out of his hand.
The attacker shouted and tried to run away. Batman leaped from the building and threw a batarang connected to a long piece of wire at him. The wire wrapped around his legs, tripping him. Batman landed next to him and delivered a punch to the man's head, knocking him unconscious. Batman glanced at the man who would have been mugged if he hadn't intervened before grappling to the top of another building. Batman activated the radio system in his cowl and began listening to the police radio. There seemed to be nothing. Keeping the radio online, Batman leaped from building to building, searching for anything resembling a crime. Odd that Gotham of all places have very nearly no crime... Suddenly, Batman came upon an odd sight. A figure he'd not yet seen standing atop a nearby building... and his costume appeared to be similar to Batman's.
Batman silently glided to the other building and heard the figure talking about how it was a quiet night. From his height and voice, Batman guessed that he was only a teenager... And from the way he spoke it sounded as though he'd done this before. "Who are you?" Batman asked, his voice slightly hostile. There had been impersonaters before, but he'd acted the same way to them. They didn't realize just how dangerous it was, being a vigilante in Gotham.... or so Batman thought, in this case.

he said as he sighed, "At least there could be the Jokerz or the Royal Flush Gang doing something," he added as he listened to the radio. "Who are you?" he heard behind and above him and Terry turned to look, "Just someone doing a job..." he said as he saw who it was and he blinked. "Bruce...." he added as he stood there in front of him, the one who he helped from a gang of Jokerz and was now in the flesh standing there. "I was wondering when you and I would meet. Considering we do not meet till like 30 some odd years from now," he adds as he thinks and jumps from his place to where Batman is. "We have a lot to talk about. And I am not sure what I should tell you, since time and space can be all messed up if I give too much information," he states as he closes his eyes and looks off over the city before opening them as he thinks. "I wish I knew what to say. At least the Mindbinder is not here, than it would be just awkward."[/ul]

The boy knew his identity... and was wearing a Batman-like suit. Unless he was some apprentice of Hugo Strange's, Batman was entirely unsure of where he could have come from. Those who knew his identity would never give it away without some sort of challenge. Confusing... Until he spoke again. There was some sort of time travel involved here, something that Batman wasn't the best at dealing with. It simply wasn't his style to deal with things like time travel. Gotham was a tad more grounded in normality than Metropolis.
"I don't need to know about the future." Batman replied, his voice cold as ever. It was indeed true that he didn't need to, but he also didn't want to. For all he knew he was dead and he'd left the Batman title to whoever this was. "Just tell me one thing." Bruce said, wondering for only a second who this 'Mindbender' was before concluding that he was a supervillain of the future. It was a shame that there were still villains in the future, but he knew that there would be anyway. It wasn't like he suspected his war on crime would rid the world of criminals everywhere.. But it was a bit disheartening to know that it had little effect.
Batman decided to fight harder, then. Giving up would do neither him nor Gotham any good. "Who are you?" Batman asked, his voice darkening and his demeanor changing to become more threatening.

Thinking, Terry thought. "I am Batman," he states. "From the year 2040, and I have been Batman since 2039," he says as he looks around the area. Thinking, he ponders, "I'll be glad to tell you my real name, but not out in the open like this, as there could be people watching and listening," he mentions.
"You made this suit, using a combination of technology that you invented and used from Superman and other allies of the Justice League," he says to him. Thinking, he looks at Batman. "All I know, I was on Apokolips fighting with the Justice League," he says as he blinks, "Well, my Justice League, and we went though a Boom Tube, and I wound up here with the Batmobile. Dr. Fate said he could get me back to my time, but there might be problems as my being here in 2012 is destined or something. I could see that, but no idea if me being here is good or not, since I really have no family, place to live nor figuring out how to register for school, since I am not even born yet." he says to him as he waits for a reply.

...Interesting. Bruce knew he would eventually have one of his many apprentices take his place as Batman while continuing his training of them due to the inevitable old age he would eventually have to succumb to. If this... future Batman was telling the truth, he was the one who eventually came to become the next Batman. Judging by the year, he doubted it was Dick who had taken his place. Could it have been Tim? Perhaps... Doubtful, though. This Batman seemed to be in his teenage years, making him much younger than what Tim would be at that year.
Bruce had to come to the conclusion that he was either Damien (which was doubtful, seeing as Damien was... darker than this Batman was, as well as too old to be a teenager in that year, or it was a completely new apprentice, someone who he'd found that took on the Batman mantle in his later years. That made sense, especially since all his current apprentices were too old to be teenagers in 2039.
Bruce thought for a moment before speaking. "You'll have to live with me, for now." He said calmly. It had always been in his nature to take in people who were suffering fates similar to his. Now this boy had been ripped from his parents - and worse, his home. Bruce would have to take him in, at least until he found somewhere he wanted to live. Unless he wanted to live at Wayne Manor and continue his work as the Batman...

he said simply as he turned and looked. Thinking, he was trying to figure out if living with the old...er young... er the prime form of Batman would be good and really it would be. Terry knew the lay of the house, and all the area around it as well as Gotham from his time. However, there are places here that were not in his time, mainly due to the way Gotham expanded. "Thank you, I would like that. Plus, I can work on getting into school, although figuring out a way to explain where I am from is going to be interesting," he comments as he thinks on something looking at Batman and than to Gotham and back. "I wonder...." he starts. "You never did tell me how you designed this version of the suit, I wonder if you found the suit and researched on how to make it better?" he states as he thinks on this. Could it be that Terry did travel back in time at some point and lived with Bruce at Wayne Manor. Thus allowing Bruce to see the suit and work on it. Looking, he thought. "Oh, I also have one other thing that came with me," he said as he turned and pushed a button hidden on the suit he was wearing and the Batmobile decloaked and appeared on the roof. Turning, Terry smiled, "Just liek the suit, this is the Batmobile of the future," he added.[/ul]
