Blessed Samhain/Happy Halloween everyone!
It wasn't long before the smells and spectacles of Autumn fell over the town of Storybrooke. Leaves fell from the trees and the temperatures changed. Soon jack-o-lanterns appeared in shop windows with cob webs, spiders, and black cats. Skeletons and spooks hung off doors and porches.
The Curse may have been lifted and the citizens may remember who they were, but that didn't keep them from celebrating this world's holidays. The children enjoyed the joys of making or buying their own costumes to go trick-or-treating in.
This didn't make Grace any different from the rest of her friends and classmates. In fact, she had come up with an idea. Why not host a Halloween party in her father's mansion? It was big enough to hold a party in, and they could invite almost everyone in town. It'd be great! First the children could go trick-or-treating, and then they could return for jack-o-lantern carving, bobbing for apples, and other fun games!
Of course, Jefferson wouldn't say no to Grace, and agreed to hold the party. He and Grace decorated the entire home in Halloween decorations, trying to turn it into a creepy mansion. By the time they were done, it actually reminded him a bit of Victor's world....just not in black and white.
The invitations were given out a day prior, no one was kept off the list--not even Regina. Grace had reminded her father that they should all try and turn over a new leaf. They were all stuck here together, and it would take everyone's cooperation to get them back home.
Currently, Grace and Jefferson stood in their kitchen going over the last few items on their party checklist.
"Spooky foods?" Grace read off the list.
"Cooled and decorated," Jefferson replied.
"Atmospheric decorations and music?"
"All put up."
"Party invitations?"
"All sent out."
"Well then that's everything."
Grace bounced on the balls of her feet as she placed the finished checklist on the refrigerator. An excited squeal came from her as Jefferson lifted her and twirled her in her Alice costume. Of course, to match his little Alice, Jefferson had dressed up as, well himself, the Mad Hatter.
"Our guests will be arriving soon, why don't you go get ready for trick-or-treating?" Jefferson said, kissing the top of Grace's head as he placed her back on her feet.
"Okay, Papa!" She giggled, skipping off to her room to collect her candy bag--which of course had a Cheshire Cat design on it to match her ensemble.
Jefferson waited downstairs, staring at the door, as he awaited the arrival of their guests. Now was the time he had to learn to be social. He hadn't exactly talked to anyone in town besides Regina, Emma, Charming, and Henry. He was pretty sure the only reason people were coming was because of Grace. Though, she'd reassured him that they'd accept him. He only hoped she was right, he didn't want this night to be awkward.
He just had to channel the energy from the old days. When his trade was wanted by most, and paid for in plenty of gold and expensive trinkets. That was the life...but of course, he wouldn't trade his life with Grace for anything in the world. She was his greatest joy.
That's when the doorbell rang.
"Let the party begin."
