Oh, Death, оh Death, It was a chilly afternoon in Salem Massachusetts when a pale 1959 Cadillac with a California license plate reading BUH*BYE drove into the small town. It parked on the side of the street as a slender, pale, man exited from the driver's side of the vehicle.
He had the face that looked sunken in, almost like he were made up of only skin and bone. Even his eyes held the appearance of the eye sockets of a skull. He wore a black suit, similar to a mortician's attire, and carried a cane which he was currently using to guide his slow stride.
No one would know him if they saw him on the street. They'd assume he were just a wealthy, older, man out for a autumn stroll. What they didn't know was the man's true identity. Though, Death didn't like to make himself known to Humans that weren't ready for his cold grasp yet.
He had no true intention in the city, at least not "work" wise. He left the tedious regulated death toll work to his reapers. Of course, they only took the lives of those who were marked. Unless they were controlled by another being, or even Human, which Death did not appreciate in the slightest. For if a Human were to control a Reaper, they could kill whoever they wanted. And that would only knock the balance of nature off track, and Death didn't appreciate that one bit.
He only killed who needed to go, and let everyone else live their long lives. Well, of course he had some slip ups...especially when a rude Human bumped into him a few months ago on the streets and the Human had dropped dead a few moments after.
Not to mention everyone that had just dropped like flies at that pizzeria that one time. It wasn't his fault his presence could be a bit potent to regular Humans. At the time, however, he had been bonded by Lucifer so he really couldn't clean up his mess.
This time he didn't make the same mistake upon entering the restaurant. The staff and other customers didn't drop like flies like last time. He had a pretty strong grip on the potency of his presence. He politely ordered a coca cola, mentioning that he was waiting on a lunch partner.
He made a mental note to himself to spare his waitress when her time came since she treated him kindly when he ordered. That was one of the things that Death wanted most out of God's creations. Respect. When he received it, he made sure to overlook another year or two on a victim. Those who didn't respect him on the other hand...well he wouldn't talk about that.
He currently sat opposite of an empty chair at a window table. He sipped away slowly at his soda as he waited for his lunch date to arrive. Hopefully she'd be more punctual than Dean Winchester was...

It had been a while since Kaly had shared a meal with Death. Then again, with how busy she had been taking care of Lynn, losing her, then starting the journey to find her again, well... It was understandable. But it was a pleasant surprise when she received the pretty little invitation to have lunch at a nearby restaurant to the latest motel Kaly was staying at with little Narret and Deus on their search for her eldest daughter.
So Kaly made her plans - Lunch was made for the small girl, and books were given as well as a quick lesson on how to use the television. A letter was made in case Deus returned, stating that an old friend she hadn't seen in years wanted to meet up with her, and placed on an obvious spot in the tiny motel's kitchen. The Angel implored Narret to stay inside the room and, with a quick but gentle hug and peck on the cheek, she left the room and locked it behind her.
Kaly wasn't late when she arrived shortly after he did, far from it, but she had taken a bit longer than she wanted to to arrive. She was worried for the young girl, although she knew it was best for her not to meet Death just yet for various reasons. She had no idea how she would react to him... But she knew that Narret would stay in the room, far from harm.
The Angel saw the head of her friend sitting next to a window. She smiled, feeling a bit more relaxed at the familiar form as she moved towards him. A waitress came, not sure if she was there to get a table or there to meet someone, but Kaly reassured her.
"I'm here to meet a friend," She smiled at the woman, gesturing towards the elderly gentleman. With a nod, the waitress let her finish closing the distance between her and the seat in front of Death. Kaly sat down, adjusting her skirt, and gave Death a friendly, albeit tired, smile.
"Hello there, old friend," She greeted, letting her arms rest on the table, "Might I say, it's great to see your lively face again."

Oh, Death, оh Death, Only a few moments after thinking about her, his lunch date arrived. Right on time, as usual, well give or take a couple of seconds. He'd only sucked up half of his cola by the time she sat down. An amused look crossed his face as she spoke. She was always full of a bright light he could never put a finger on, but it always made her smile.
"Chipper as always, Kalypso," He replied as he released the glass of coca cola from his grip.
Death wasn't one to smile, but on occasion he would, and this was one of those moments. It was intended to be a friendly smile, but when you haven't smiled after several years of being stuck in a magical coffin six hundred feet under the Earth....you tend to forget things.
Their waitress came back with a second menu, handing it to Kalypso. Death's menu was folded and neatly placed at the end of the table. He already knew what he wanted, all of the food choices that fell under his label of "junk food."
He couldn't help but want the stuff whenever he walked around Earth. It was like candy to him, he just wanted more and more. He couldn't get enough of the stuff. He gave a polite nod the young waitress as she offered to refill his glass. This was one restaurant he'd keep in mind for next time. This girl was very polite for her age.
His attention then moved back to Kalypso as he took a sip from his straw.
"I hear that you're looking after more Humans now-a-days. How is that going for you?" He questioned.

Rusty with a smile or not, it was pleasant to see one on the face of Death. Kaly's own smile grew at the response, her back sitting up a bit straighter. She accepted the menu from the waitress with a 'thank you', flipping through it. She wasn't one for 'junk food' as much as her friend was, but she still enjoyed a good meal and a nice cup of tea - Which was what she ordered. Tea and a nice steak sandwich - She could use something flavorful and meaty!
"Looking after more humans?" She asked with an amused smile, sitting back as the waitress left with their orders. She chuckled softly, giving a little shrug, "You could call it that, I guess...." Her normally bright and cheerful face became sad, and the bags below her eyes were a bit more obvious now. Kaly rubbed her face with a hand as she took in a deep breath, trying to figure out just what to tell one of her oldest friends...
"It... Hasn't been too well these days. I suppose you know of Lynn?" She lowered her hand, looking back up at him, "I took her in a few years back... Adopted her... But a few weeks ago, she disappeared in the middle of the night. I have no idea what happened or... Or where she went, but I've been trying to find her..." There was pain in her eyes as she looked down at her hands, which had subconsciously clasped together hard enough that her knuckles had become white. She slowly loosened her fingers from each other, keeping her breathing deep and even, "It... Hasn't been easy. Even with help..."

Oh, Death, оh Death, "Yes I remember her, caused quite a stir on my list several years ago, but I'm sure you know all about that," He said, referring to her incident inside the Umbrella Corporation laboratory where she was experimented on...and murdered quite a lot of people...not that they had it coming to them or anything.
"In case you were wondering, no she hasn't appeared on my list," He added, taking a sip from his drink,"If that helps."
Nobody would know this about Death, but he harbored a small ounce of pity for those taken before he originally slated them for death. Kalypso being one of those beings, probably why he even considered holding a friendship with the Angel. That and she never truly anchored herself to the situations going on up in Heaven. The least he could do was warn her about where someone she knew was going to die to pay respects. Even she knew that he couldn't be stopped when fate decided it was time for another soul to be guided into the afterlife.
He took another long sip from his soda.
"I also hear that these Humans you're looking after are also half-Demons. Or are you still unaware of their true natures?" He eyed her as he spoke about Dues and Narret.
Death wasn't one to judge others for their kin, however when it came to Demons that was a different story. Especially when the father of all Demons was the spoiled, temper-tantrum throwing, Arch-Angel Lucifer. The same Arch-Angel who had binded him for quite some time to try and end the world with the Apocalypse. Death wasn't very keen to welcome any son or daughter of Lucifer after what the Angel had done to him.
Then again, nobody really welcomed his "children" either, his Reapers. Nobody truly welcomes Death in any form now do they? Quite depressing really...not a single hello given when he appears to take them into the afterlife. Just a "why now?" or "why me?" or "I'm not ready to go yet!" Humans sounded like broken records in Death's mind after years of hearing the same excuses why the being should be allowed to live for another year or so.
"Do you know if they've spawned from your...brother?" He questioned, his expression turning a bit sour as he thought more about Lucifer.
The way the Angelic family worked was...confusing...and weird.... Many Angels existed in different religions besides Christianity, though he'd always assumed they were all related. He only assumed because he thought God had mentioned something about the way his family worked. It was just hard to remember, seeing as how the conversation was probably held hundreds and hundreds of years before Humans even existed.

The pain on her face eased tremendously at his words, the smile creeping back on. Although she didn't say the words, her eyes glowed with gratitude. Lynn wasn't going to die, not any time soon... Although whether she would be alright when Kaly found her, the Angel had no clue. But at least she knew that she'd be able to find the girl and bring her back home... And hopefully heal whatever damage happened to her, if any at all came about.
"I was mostly going to ask if you've seen her anywhere..." She admitted when the tea came. Her hands wrapped around the warm mug, her body leaning over a bit so she could take a deep breath of the delicious scent. Nothing much compared to the scent of freshly made tea!
"I am very well aware of that," She answered smoothly when he mentioned the half-Demon nature of her new companions. She sipped the tea after blowing on it, peeking over the lip of the mug as she eyed her friend. She knew how he was with Demons... and she couldn't blame him for it. One 'Demon' in particular had given him enough shit trouble to last quite the lifetime for him... Which was a lot to say.
Kaly lowered the cup as he asked if they were of any relation to him. Her 'brother' (a term used between angels despite any real blood relation, or even any kind of relation at all - Truly, she was an entirely different breed of Angel from Lucifer!). One she had... Never really bonded with, never really conversed with much, although she had met the troublemaker once or twice. Thankfully not for very long. She wasn't surprised at his train of conversation, although she hadn't expected it.
"They're not," The smile hadn't left her face when she reassured him with a little shake of the head, "They don't have the same Feel as him. They're from a completely different branch of Demon, as far as I can tell. And even if they aren't... They're so far disconnected from the whole 'drama' between Heaven and Hell that they might as well not be from him."

Oh, Death, оh Death, Death gave a nod as he listened to Kalypso's reply. He took small sips from his own drink as her tea arrived. Well that was one thing he appreciated about Kalypso, she didn't surround herself with anyone completely involved in what was going on in the attic and basement. If only he could be kept out of it as well. Though, Lucifer and Dean just couldn't leave him alone, now could they? He was tired of cleaning up other people's messes.
"Consider yourself lucky, dear, you can stay out of the pull of this pathetic temper tantrum," He said with a frown, "You don't have to clean up the messes that these children leave behind."
In some ways, Death felt like the parent that was always given the clean up job. Where was God when his children were running amuck and making such a racket on Earth? Oh that's right, writing little novels about his two favorite brothers somewhere else. Not that he'd tell anyone about that, he wouldn't spoil the hunt for father that the Angels were having.
Of course, he didn't really expect any Angels to come question him about God's whereabouts. The last time anyone in Heaven pulled him out of the damned coffin they kept him in was when Noah was building his cute, little, animal infested ark. This time, however, he planned to stay topside for longer than a mere flooding. Not that he was planning any catastrophic events. He just wanted to enjoy the time he had to eat junk food and to make sure balance was in order.

"Thank the Gods for that," Kaly responded almost immediately with a little huff, shaking her head as she sipped her tea. Really, that side of her family was highly dysfunctional... While she did love them in her own way, she did not want to get involved in their petty squabbles and fueds, "I've got more than enough on my plate without having to worry about their issues and the like."
Indeed, both of her daughters - For she considered herself to have two now - were handfuls. Lynn was MIA, something Kaly would stop at nothing to fix, and Narret had many issues of her own that the Angel needed to help her through when the time was right. First and foremost, though, she wanted to find Lynn. She would teach Narret on the journey, of course, but the real homeschooling would come once she managed to bring her eldest home.
"I am really sorry you have to deal with all of that shit," The young Angel said, "Honestly, you really shouldn't! It's ridiculous...." Still, she knew it was better that someone was cleaning up after them... If Death wasn't going to, then who would?? Kaly wasn't too familiar with the God who presided over Lucifer and the others - He wasn't her 'father' after all! - but she had a feeling that he was even more MIA than Lynn was!
Truly, his wife must be livid.... Well, if he was married.

Oh, Death, оh Death, A chuckle came from Death when Kalypso swore. The female never swore unless something really bothered her. He found it an admirable trait, everyone just seemed to run their mouth now-a-days, and didn't even think twice about it. Before he could reply, the waitress returned, politely interrupting the two as she delivered their lunches. She also brought him another refill on his coca cola, which he thanked her for.
He had ordered a fish and chips basket as well as a side of fried pickles, which he was now semi-drowning in malt vinegar (well everything but the pickles). He gently stabbed a french fry with his fork before lifting it to his mouth and taking a small bite. He chewed and swallowed before speaking to her again.
"It is absolutely ridiculous," He agreed, taking another small bite from the fry before starting to cut up the pieces of batter fried fish, "Thankfully things have been quiet for longer than a month."
He gave her a small smile before he stabbed a pickle with his fork and dunked it into the dipping sauce.
"And the Winchesters have been quiet, surprisingly. Something must be wrong with the world," He added, popping the pickle into his mouth, and dabbed the corner of his lips with his napkin when he felt a stray bit of sauce lingering there. my name is Death and the end is here...

The arrival of lunch brought the Angel back into fairly good spirits, a smile crossing her face as she looked over the plates. She had never eaten in this particular restaurant before, but from what she could tell the quality of their food was very good! She thanked the woman as she left, lifting up half of her sandwich and taking a good bite out of it.
Death began speaking again as she was chewing through another bite, and she looked up at him to pay attention while keeping her mouth closed and covered. Her eyes smiled when he said it had been quiet for a good amount of time, letting him know that she was glad for him, but confusion came to her eyes when he mentioned... The Winchesters?
"The Winchesters?" She asked after swallowing, dabbing her mouth with a napkin and setting the sandwich down for now, "I don't believe I've heard of them... Are they the humans that were rumored to be involved or something?" Kaly had tried to keep away from the drama, and information concerning it, and had done so successfully. This did, however, have the side-effect of keeping her uninformed about a lot of things... The involved parties outside of her 'family' being one of them.

Oh, Death, оh Death, "Yes, I forget you're unfamiliar with them. Be lucky you are. They can be...quite annoying," He replied, stabbing a cut piece of fish and lifting it to his lips. He chewed on it slowly, enjoying the mixed flavors of the fried fish and the malt vinegar it'd been swimming in. He swallowed and dabbed his mouth before taking another sip of cola.
"They were the planned vessels of Lucifer and Michael, of course, that didn't work out as planned," He told her, "They've been stirring up a big mess upstairs and down here. But enough about that, wouldn't want you getting pulled into this mess."
It was better she stayed out of the mess between upstairs and downstairs. He wouldn't want her getting into the Angels' war. He'd seen the incoming death list from the Angels' side, and it was a long one. He didn't need to see Kalypso's name on that list again for a long, long, time. If she were gone who else would he have lunch with?
It wasn't like anyone filled up his schedule with lunch dates anyways...

"Poor boys," Came her immediate response as he spoke on what Lucifer and Michael had planned for them. To get pulled into something like that... No, Kaly didn't even want to think of it. She had to suppress any urge to help, which while not easy was still not as difficult as it usually would be due to her more pressing business with needing to find her daughter. Her little family was the most important thing to her right now, with Lynn being right at the top due to her missing status.
Kaly took a slow bite of her sandwich as that branch of conversation came to a close. To be honest, she wasn't ready to appear on his list yet, either. She had a lot she wanted to do with this life before Death came to claim her... Not that she would fight against him as others would if he came before then. Well... Maybe a little, if she there was one last thing she needed to do before being able to move on peacefully.
"Well, outside of being dragged into the big ol' family drama, how have you been?" She asked after a few seconds, and a few more bites of food, "Enjoying the modern human world and its many conveniences and inconveniences?"

Oh, Death, оh Death, "I forget that you've never met them," He said, taking another french fry into his mouth.
Death couldn't help but chuckle slightly at the pity the female gave to the Winchester boys. He didn't exactly feel the same towards Samuel and Dean Winchester. Though, he was rather "thankful" that the boys were trying to seal away Lucifer. It was about time someone tried to put that boy back in his place. The elder horseman was still irked at the Arch-Angel about being bonded.
"I can't really say I'm enjoying it," He replied, "But it's much better than being trapped in that coffin they made for me. Six hundred years stuck in a small container is dreadfully boring."
Being trapped for six hundred years in a magical coffin controlled by the powers in Heaven, wasn't exactly Death's ideal home when he and his brothers appeared in the world. He wasn't enthusiastic either about being commanded by "higher powers" like when he was released during Noah's time. That was probably the only thing he couldn't be cross with Lucifer about.
The whiny brat had released him from his prison under the Earth, and no one had tried to put him back into it since. He was free, for now at least. Which explained why he was moving around so much and eating as much junk food as he possibly could. Who knew when his coffin's keeper would be back to try and bottle him up again? my name is Death and the end is here...

"Hey, maybe if I'm lucky! Or unlucky, as it were," Kaly jested with another bite of steak sandwich following afterwards. While she was sure these 'Winchester boys' weren't too bad in and of themselves - As she usually assumed of people she never met before - she was also sure that meeting them would become her one way ticket into 'Family Drama World'. Which, as stated before, was something she was doing her best to avoid.
At the mention of Death's coffin, Kaly cringed a bit. She could only pity his fate whenever he was stuck into that blasted thing - Horseman of Death or not, he didn't deserve to be contained in such a way. At least, unlike the other Horsemen (who she had not met, thank the Gods), he had a measure of control with himself... And he was a gentleman to boot.
"Perhaps one day we can find a way to keep you out of that thing permanently," The Angel said sympathetically, giving Death an apologetic look, "Without the interference of one of my 'brothers', that is." If only there was a way she could at the very least destroy that bloody coffin! But she didn't even know where to find it... Let alone how she would go about dismantling it in a way that the ones who originally put it together wouldn't be able to fix it.
Fat chance of that, however. No doubt the ones who made it made sure that it was nigh on impossible to break it... Even Death hadn't found a way to do so, and he had become intimately acquainted with the damn thing after being in it for over six hundred years.

Oh, Death, оh Death, A small smile moved across the Horseman's face as the Angel spoke. He was rather amused by her kind thoughts of wanting to destroy his cage. It would be a nice reprieve from fearing of being put back into its cold containment.
Though even Death knew there was a reason that things were locked up. He knew the reasons that he was always confined and hidden away. He was a powerful "weapon" that Heaven could control, and now that they knew he could be bonded by others like Lucifer, they'd sure be coming after him again.
He just hoped that his pursuers would take their time in trying to catch him. He enjoyed these nice luncheons with the Angel. Of course, he also had other matters to attend to, like checking up on said demon hunting brothers.
"I'm afraid it wouldn't be that easy," He replied, "Cages are built for a reason." my name is Death and the end is here...
