Kaly let out a sigh. She stared down into her tea cup, which was nearly empty by now, and shook her head slowly. His answer didn't surprise her - She expected as much. She downed the last of the tea, placing the cup down and sliding it slightly away from her.
"Aye, I'm aware of that..." She said, lips pursing together, "It might be near impossible to do, but it would still be nice to try..." She smiled a little, letting out a chuckle as she curled her hands together on top of the table.
"Ah well, let's move on to happier thoughts!" Her demeanor was a bit happier now, although she was mostly trying to lighten the situation after the mildly depressing thoughts of being caged up for over six hundred years... Away from people you cared for, or even the things you enjoyed out of life (or "life", as it were for Death), "Do you have any plans for the upcoming Yule, my friend?"

Oh, Death, оh Death, So the next few words that came out of the Angel's mouth came as a huge surprise to the Horseman. He couldn't help but choke a bit on his coca cola upon her asking of his..Yuletide plans of all things. His hand darted for his napkin, gently pressing it against his face as he cleared his airway of the soda. When he was able to breathe again, he slowly lowered the napkin back into his lap.
"Yule?" He repeated, trying to make sure that she was being absolutely serious, "We Horsemen don't celebrate the Holidays. We only clean up the messes of the drunkards that drive during them."
Christmas time, or any of the Holidays that involved liquor, was Death's busiest times of year. You could say he was like the Santa Claus of well Death. He reaped the souls of the drunkards that crashed their cars, drove off roads, and unfortunately even the homeless who froze to death trying to survive the winter. Death truly hated the winter season. It kept him busy, too busy, and it was quite boring.
"Besides, I have work to do during that season. Humans can't seem to be able to hold their liquor, or bring warmth to the needy. Selfish brats if you ask me," He commented. my name is Death and the end is here...

Since she had no need to worry about Death choking on anything and... Well... Dying (seeing as Death couldn't die), Kaly couldn't help but feel mildly amused at his reaction to her question. Although she tried not to let it see him, hiding her smiling lips with a curled hand and holding back her chuckles.
"Oh, not all of them are!" She assured him easily, lowering her hand back to its resting spot on the table, "Although yes, you do have to deal with a lot of the jerks that appear during the Winter Holidays, you should really keep in mind that not all of them are like that." It's how she went through her days if she ever came across one of those jerks during her travels!
"Ah, sadly enough, I don't think I'm going to be able to do much for Yule, either..." Certainly, any ritual she had planned for the ancient holiday would have to be either made really small and quick or put on hold until whenever she got Lynn back, "But I do have plans to get presents for my friends!" Her eyes twinkled with mischief as she grinned up at the pale, thin gentleman, "That includes you, too, just so you know."

Oh, Death, оh Death, Death didn't really know how to react to her last statement. She had a gift for him? Nobody gave Death presents. Nobody thanked him for doing what he was created to do. I guess you could say, he had a thankless job, but somebody had to do it and that somebody was him. If he didn't take up the responsibility of keeping the natural balance in order, than who would?
"I require nothing from you, Kalypso," He said, "Especially when being around me for more than a day could get you in trouble with your Brothers."
The Angels, from what he assumed, were still hunting him--and most likely Lucifer as well. He couldn't let those little boys play around with him like some kind of toy. He had things to do, junk food to eat, and souls to usher into the afterlife. He had no time for their childish scheming. Heaven would want him to fight Lucifer for them, and Lucifer would badger him about trying to start the Apocalypse again. Not his cup of tea, really, he preferred not getting his hands dirty in that vast pool of chaos waiting to happen...though...his brothers would be up for it, but he had no control over them. my name is Death and the end is here... "Though you say you don't require something of me, it's not going to change my mind," The angel said stubbornly, snacking at a few of the tiny fries that had been packed into her now-gone sandwich, "I've already got half of your present ready, and all I need to do is hunt down the other half and it'll be all ready to be delivered!"
She did pause a bit at the mention of coming across her 'brothers' should the two of them stick around each other for two long. It didn't change her mind, not one bit, but she knew his words were true... And they both knew how much she didn't want that.
"That may be true, but it shouldn't take me too long to give you a gift," She said, sitting back in her chair, "All we'd need to do is, after everything is prepared, set aside a day either a bit before or after Yule - It doesn't matter which, really - And I can hand it right over and see how you like it! Simple as that..." So unless Lucifer had already caught scent of Death and was making his way towards the Horseman when she was giving him his gift, the chance of Kaly coming across the fallen Angel was low.
At least, that's what she hoped.

Oh, Death, оh Death, Death let out a sigh in response to the Angel's words. She was more stubborn than he was, and he knew that it would be useless to argue with her more. If she wanted to get him something she'd get him something, no matter how much he resisted the idea. He'd have to deal with the idea of someone getting him a Yule gift. Not that he frowned at it or anything, it was just a new thing for him, nobody really got Death Christmas/Yule presents.
"It's useless to argue with you on the matter," He replied, "All I have to say on the matter is you better not get yourself in trouble for dealing with the likes of me."
The last thing he wanted to happen to Kalypso was either running into her Brothers or Lucifer or anything that would lead her onto a dangerous route...especially Lucifer he was still angry at the temper tantrum throwing Arch-Angel for binding him.
Death leaned forward as he stared Kalypso right in the eye, "If you sense anything is off within the next few weeks. Anything at all, you will not show up, understand?" my name is Death and the end is here...

"Damn right it is!" Kaly replied in jest, flashing a grin at Death. Her gaze softened as she cautioned her on dealing with him too much, grin becoming a little smile. His worry was sweet, sincere. It reminded her of how close they were as friends, and made her feel even more grateful to have gotten to know the kindly gentleman.
"Don't worry to much about it, my friend," She tried to reassure, placing a hand on the table as if she was going to reach forward and pat his shoulder. She couldn't right now, of course - While he was holding back his deadly aura and she likely wouldn't die, she also knew that Death didn't care to be touched more often than not.
When their eyes connected, she froze for but a second. His request had almost startled her in its intensity - Did he think something was going to happen? Something soon? Her lips parted silently for a second, brows furrowing, before she put them back together with an understanding nod.
"If I sense anything off, rest assured... I will book it out of town as soon as I'm able to." She would just have to save the gifts for a later time!

Oh, Death, оh Death, He leaned back in his chair, looking a bit more relaxed than he had a second ago. He felt a little reassured that she'd be safe if anything were to happen. In the end if anything did happen to the Angel, Death wouldn't hesitate to protect her. She already died prematurely once, and he wouldn't have that happen again.
His plate was cleared by this time in the conversation. He patted his mouth with a napkin as their waitress came with their bill. Death made a note of the girl's name upon the check as his hand dove into his coat pocket to pull out what looked like an old fashioned coin purse.
Unlike his brothers--who would have killed everyone in the restaurant by now--Death preferred to pay off his meals like any polite customer should. He produced several bills and slipped them into the black booklet that held the check, tipping the waitress generously. He glanced at Kalypso, giving her a sort of, "don't you dare even think you're paying for lunch," sort of look.
He then stood from the table, neatly folding his napkin upon the cleared plate. He moved around towards where Kalypso was sitting, offering the head of his cane to help her stand--he wouldn't risk accidentally killing the woman by his touch.
"Then I believe we must part ways, friend," he said, attempting to give her a smile, "until next time." my name is Death and the end is here...

Kaly's plate and cup were also devoid of the sustenance she had been consuming moments before by the time their conversation was finished and the waitress came to give them the check. She was about to reach forward and insist that she pay for it, but Death manage to beat her to it. She pouted a bit, having wanted to spoil one of her oldest friends, and crossed her arms. Still, there was appreciation in her gaze as he gave her A Look, and her pout didn't last much longer after that, almost immediately replaced by a little smile.
"Thank you, my friend," She said, taking the head of the cane graciously and once more fighting the urge to touch him - This time wanting to give him a hug instead of pat his shoulder. Instead, she gave the cane a quick little squeeze before letting it go.
"I wish you luck with... Well, everything," She chuckled, putting her bag around her shoulders, "Hopefully next we meet, you'll be in a better situation than now!"
And with that - Along with one last good bye - Kalypso Donahue left the restaurant with a spring in her step and a story to tell to the young girl who awaited her in the hotel they were staying at.
