Category: Canon ~ DC Universe
Ranking: Vigilante
Reason for being on AM: Geez... We have Gotham City here. Kinda needs it's main protector.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Basic Details
Age: 41
Species: Human
Personality:
Batman is Gotham's protector, but don't mistake him for your Superman-type hero. He's a dark protector, armed with a personal vendetta against the crime that plagues the world. Just the very name of Batman can strike fear into the hearts of criminals throughout Gotham, Bludhaven and even parts of Metropolis. As a child, Bruce Wayne witnessed his parents die at the hands of a heartless criminal and was traumatized by it. It was from that that his vendetta and hatred for all criminals sprang. He's completely obsessed with his vendetta and will not stop until he's put his current enemy behind bars.
But yet, Batman has a strong sense of justice. His only rule in his battle against crime is to never kill his opponents because that would bring him down to their level. Despite his sense of justice, Batman has been known to not trust even those who protect other cities, such as Superman and the Green Lantern. Proof of this is that he's developed a means of defeating everyone he's worked alongside, even his own trainees. The only people he does trust are those who he's trained, such as Robin and Batgirl. But that's only to an extent, seeing as he has come up with a means of defeating them as well.
He's certainly not completely unable to work alongside others. For instance, he's currently a member of the Justice League and he's founded his own team the Outsiders. He has also had many a sidekick, such as Robin or Batgirl. He also fully trusts only one person: Alfred, the butler who raised him from the day his parents died. Batman has also found love on many an occasion, such as Catwoman and Talia al Ghul, both of which were once his enemies. Batman even had a son with Talia: Damian Wayne.
Batman's other personality is that of Bruce Wayne, a self-absorbed billionaire who is honestly just a false identity. Batman needs this identity because of how much he cares about those close to him. He knows full well that if his enemies knew that he was Bruce Wayne they would go after those close to Bruce Wayne, like the many sidekicks he trained and Alfred.

Powers & Abilities
Indomitable Will: Above all of Batman's martial arts training and gadgets is his unstoppable determination in his war against crime. Batman's willpower has been shown as more powerful than that of Hal Jordan, who's willpower literally powers the ring that makes him the Green Lantern. Batman has fought through sheer amounts of pain that would have killed most humans. His strength of will also makes him able to resist mind control and telepathy of all sorts.
Intimidation: As stated before the name of Batman is feared throughout all of Gotham and is known throughout all criminals in his own universe. Suffice to say, Batman is amazing at instilling fear in people. Some who aren't afraid of Superman, who has shown himself to be one of the most powerful people in his own universe, fear Batman. Even some of the superheroes who know him are somewhat intimidated by him.
Interrogation: Batman's interrogation techniques are practically unparalleled. Using his strength and equipment, Batman will often result to just beating a person down and threatening them more to get answers. Sometimes Batman just uses his frightening appearance to get people to talk.
Peak Human Condition: Through years of intense training, Batman is the peak of what a human could possibly be. It has been said that his physical strengths are better than those of any Olympic Athlete. Several superheroes with powers consider Batman on their level just because of what he can do with his physical strength and abilities. Batman's skills include...
- Peak Human Strength - Batman's strength allows him to bench-press 1000 lbs. during his regular exercise routine. In battle, Batman uses his strength to knock out criminals with ease with sheer strength.
- Peak Human Reflexes - Batman's reflexes were honed enough that he was able to catch arrows shot by the Green Arrow in mid-flight. He can even dodge point-blank gunfire with relative ease. In battle he uses this to dodge the blows of his enemies and get passed gunfire.
- Peak Human Speed - Batman can run at thirty miles per hour. Sure, he isn't the Flash, but he's definitely faster than most Olympic Athletes. He's certainly the fastest non-powered human in his universe.
- Peak Human Agility - Batman's agility is nothing short of amazing. He's leaped from building to building, jumped over cars and done things that should be impossible for humans to do. He has learned Parkour from French athletes and has mastered it.
Master Acrobat: After training in gymnastics and acrobatics, Batman is an incredibly skilled acrobat. He's been seen leaping around Gotham like it was nothing. He can also walk across a rope or log without having any problem. He can definitely flip through the air and that sort of thing.
Master Martial Artist: Batman literally knows every form of martial art known to man. If anyone from his universe needed combat training, they would immediately turn to Batman. His main fighting style is a mixture of Tae Kwon Do, Judo, Muay Thai, Dragon Style Kung Fu, Boxing, Jujitsu, and Ninjitsu, though he tends to use other styles if the need arises. Batman has also mastered many other forms of combat...
- Weapon Mastery - He's an expert in pretty much every weapon out there. His mastery of melee combat weapons is unparalleled and he's been shown using swords, knives and various other weapons masterfully in combat. He's also good with projectile weapons, particularly ones that are thrown. Even though he's against guns he's studied them to ensure that he can identify them.
- Master of Stealth - If there's one thing Batman is known for, it's his stealth. He can disappear into the shadows with ease and find hiding places from which he can easily take out criminals. He can move silently through the shadows, hide on gargoyles and generally hide incredibly well. In fact, he's taken out whole rooms filled with armed goons this way.
- Expert Marksman - Batman's skill with ranged weapons is only a bit below those of the Green Arrow himself. He is an expert with throwing weapons, like his batarangs, and archery weapons. Though he never uses firearms in battle, he is also skilled with them in case he is in a situation where there is literally nothing else he can do except use a gun.
Genius-Level Intellect: Batman is one of the most intelligent people in his universe, possibly the most intelligent besides those with omnipresent knowledge. He's a detective, scientist, chemist... the list goes on. Batman actually tends to use his intelligence rather than his strength in his battles, particularly against foes with super powers that should be able to easily take him down.
- Polymath - Bruce Wayne has studied Biology, Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Mythology, Geography, & History to great extents and is practically a master on the subject. He currently has degrees in Criminal Science, Forensics, Computer Science, Chemistry and Engineering. By the age of twenty three he mastered Diverse Environmental Training, Security Systems, and illusion/sleight of hand without actual study. He gained more degrees in Biology, Physics, Advanced Chemistry, and Technology at the age of twenty five. Later on he learned Forensic Sciences, Medical Sciences and Expanded Computer and Engineering Sciences.
- Master Detective - He is considered the World's Greatest Detective
{Sherlock sez "Oh, is that so?"}in his universe and was capable of deductive reasoning, forensic investigation and various other forms of detective work. Batman has said himself that his detective skills were his most important tools and it's held true. Without them he would've been lost against many villains.- Multi-Lingual - Batman currently knows Spanish, French, Latin, German, Japanese, English, Russian, Cantonese, Mandarin, Greek, Portuguese, Arabic, Sanskrit, Hindi and Thai. It is entirely possible that he knows more.
- Master Tactician and Strategist - Batman is known for how well he's able to plan things out and just how prepared he is for almost any situation. Batman uses these skills to be an excellent leader and whenever Superman is away, he takes over the leadership of the Justice League.
- Escapologist - Second only to Mister Miracle, Batman has escaped more death traps than he can count. He's escaped a straitjacket in fifty-two seconds and later said that it was far too slow for him. After being put through all those death traps it's very hard to keep Batman locked up for long.
- Aviation - Batman can fly the Batwing, a powerful jet, with ease. He can also fly a helicopter and several types of plane.
- Tracking - Batman is an expert at tracking people and animals down. He was trained by African Bushmen in this art and he's likely grown to exceed even their talent. He was able to track down Mr. Zsasz just by listening to a few phone calls from him.
- Master of Disguise - Batman has taken on a multitude of disguises in his war against crime. He is an amazing actor and can create a role flawlessly. He has even taken on the role of a mobster named Matches Malone. He also infiltrated the police force a variety of times under several different names.
- Ventriloquism - Batman has learned how to project his voice and make it sound as though it is coming from somewhere else entirely.
{Erik sez "He must be so talented."}- Expert Mechanic and Driver - Batman has kept his Batmobile functioning for years and is proficient at using his car as a weapon. He has also built a variety of Batmobiles over the years.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Main/Important Equipment
Batsuit: Batman's superhero suit is more like armor. It's actually what makes Batman recognizable and much of what it has aid Batman greatly. In fact, without his batsuit Batman wouldn't be half of what he currently is. It contains...
- Kevlar Armor - The suit is outfitted with a durable, yet flexible, form of kevlar, which was developed by WayneTech. It is completely bullet-proof, flame retardant and resistant to pretty much any melee attack. Despite it's great protection, it is far from perfect and has quite a few flaws in it that can be manipulated to a foe's advantage. It is also pretty much immune to tearing and has survived falling from great heights and being shot without tearing. It also emits an electric shock as a last result or if anyone tries to take it.
- Cowl - Batman's cowl is a fantastic invention and is possibly the most useful part of the Batsuit. For one thing it is almost indestructible and is certainly able to take bullets. But, it's most fantastic parts come from the settings it has. It can show a variety of filters to Batman, such as x-ray scanners. It also has a built-in radio from which Batman can hear messages from his allies... and anyone who managed to hack into it. It also protects Batman from gases like the Joker's and Scarecrow's.
- Computer - Batman's mini-computer is mounted on his wrist and is linked to the Batcomputer and has all the information available to the computer on it. It can also remotely operate any of Batman's vehicles and contact Batman's allies when they aren't connected to the cowls' radio.
- Arm Spikes - The spikes on his wrists aren't just for show. They are razor sharp and practically unbreakable due to being made of a titanium alloy. They can be used to catch only buildings and stop Batman from falling when he can't reach his grappling hook and needs a quick escape. They can also be used as weapons for both melee and ranged. The melee side should be obvious and, for ranged, they can be launched from his arm at an opponent.
- Nth Metal Knuckles - Like brass knuckles, but connected to his suit and made of Nth Metal, a substance that enhances Batman's already amazing strength. They allow him to do more damage and they are the only metal that can directly hurt ghosts and any other ethereal being.
- Cape - Made of 'memory cloth', Batman's cape can glide when hit with a specific electric current. It also provides Batman with a bit of extra protection as it is also flame retardant, freeze resistant and waterproof. He often uses it as a guard when battling Mr. Freeze so that it takes the freeze blast instead of him.
Batarangs: Batman's batarangs are his main weapons in his war against crime. They are small, sharp throwing weapons that he has made several types of. Those types include...
- Standard - The standard Batarang is sharp enough to cut through most metals. They are very fast projectiles and are generally for distracting criminals or knocking weapons out of their hands. Batman will also use them as standard projectile weapons and just throw them to stab his foes.
- Remote Control - Batman can use the mini-computer on his wrist to control these Batarangs as they fly through the air. They are less for combat purposes and more to hit switches far away from Batman or to scout out an area, as they also have a small camera on them.
- Explosive - Armed with small explosives in them, these Batarangs will explode whenever they hit something. Since they can be lethal, Batman doesn't tend to use them unless battling someone who can take them or he's trying to break down a weak piece of wall he needs to get through.
- Electric - These batarangs emit a high-powered electric blast that can be adjusted to be the power of a tazer to something powerful enough to shock the likes of Solomon Grundy. Because of the potential lethal nature of these, Batman tends to use them less often.
- Sonic - These batarangs emit a loud, high-pitched noise designed to attract the attention of people. They are mostly used to lure people into traps set by Batman.
Grappling Hook: Batman's grappling hook is made of incredibly strong wire that it not likely to break under even intense stress. It is very quick and has saved Batman's life more than once. It also has enough force to knock down walls and knock people over.
Explosive Gel: Gel that can be sprayed on a wall and detonated remotely. It lets off a powerful explosion that can knock down walls. It could also knock down things like Solomon Grundy.
Smoke Pellets: To aid Batman in being unnoticed, he has small pellets that release a clouding smoke when thrown to the ground. In that smoke Batman can make a quick escape or he can knock out unsuspecting criminals. There are also several different versions of this, such as a version filled with tear gas that could be used as more of a weapon. There are also explosive versions, incendiary versions and freezing versions.
Utility Belt: Batman's yellow belt is possibly the most important piece of Batman's equipment simply because it holds everything he needs. On it is a small button that can be used to call in the Justice League and hold pretty much everything Batman needs. It seems to be able to hold a large amount of Batarangs and still have much room for more devices. Much of the time it will contain detective tools as well as whatever weapon Batman needs at the moment. Because of Batman's constant careful planning he knows just what to put in his belt for a certain opponent.
---Vehicles---
Batmobile: The most well-known vehicle Batman drives is the Batmobile, a car that Batman modified to better fit his war on crime. In terms of speed it can exceed well over 300 mph. It also has various other capabilities, such as...
- Durability - The Batmobile is ridiculously tough and has survived beatings from the likes of Bane. It's even tanked missiles in the past. This is because it is coated with titanium and absorbs impact. Only people with Superman-level strength would be able to really put a hurting on the Batmobile.
- Armor - If the Batmobile is going up against something that even it's initial toughness can't handle, Batman has made built in armor plating that can cover the Batmobile at the press of a button. The only downside is that it makes the Batmobile much slower than it was before, so Batman only uses this in case of emergency.
- Machine Guns - Two machine guns at the front of the Batmobile. They are of a very high-caliber, which is why Batman rarely uses them against criminals if they're armed with actual bullets. Batman can switch the bullets to non-lethal rubber bullets with the press of a button.
- Rocket Launchers - For foes that are just too strong to be brought down by machine guns, Batman has two rocket launchers installed into his Batmobile. Batman rarely uses these unless against someone who won't die from it.
- Oil Slick - To send any pursuer away, the Batmobile can deploy an oil slick to make it difficult for anyone following to drive.
- Computer - A computer system with an uplink to the Batcomputer. Batman will often use it to decipher codes on the go or get information on a certain criminal or substance while travelling.
- Remote Control - Batman is able to use his wrist-mounted computer to control the Batmobile remotely. He can also activate it's many weapons and armor features remotely in case it's being attacked. He can also remote detonate the Batmobile in case he absolutely has to.
Batwing: A large, high-tech jet Batman uses to get to places across the country or across the world, or just to do battle with airborne foes. The Batwing is made to get to places a quickly as possible, so it's maximum speed is 4,4000 mph. It's other features include...
- Durability - The Batwing is just as durable as the Batmobile, possibly even more. It was made to endure rockets and other weapons made for bringing aircraft down. It will definitely not be hurt by any mere bullets or physical blows, unless they are physical blows done by someone with super strength.
- Stealth Mode - As stated before, stealth is key for Batman. As such, the Batwing is able to become invisible so that Batman can sneak into somewhere from the air. The Batwing is also a stealthy vehicle in general and makes minimal noise as it soars through the air.
- Machine Guns - Much like the Batmobile, the Batwing is armed with high-caliber machine guns. They can also be switched between real and rubber bullets. The real bullets are generally unused unless against enemies who can take them and not die.
- Rocket Launchers - There are two rocket launchers at the front of the Batwing. They are there for emergency only, or if Batman needs to destroy something in front of him that can't be dodged.
- Computer System - Again, it is the same computer system the Batmobile it. It has an uplink to the Batcomputer and is generally useful for obtaining information Batman doesn't have the time to get at the Batcave while going after a criminal.
- Remote Control - Batman can control the Batwing and all of it's features using his wrist-mounted computer. He can also remotely self destruct it.
Batboat: The Batboat is one of the less used vehicles Batman owns. However, when trouble is about in the water Batman has this to help him. It's top speed is unknown, but one can assume that it is very fast, like Batman's other vehicles. It is also fully submersible and has six hours of breathable air. It also has the same Batcomputer uplink as the other vehicles and the remote control. It's other features include...
- Harpoon - With a titanium cable, the Batboat's harpoon weapon is not about to break any time soon. It is used less frequently as a weapon and more as an anchor because it also features a grappling hook option.
- Torpedoes - The Batboat's torpedoes are powerful explosives meant for bringing down other boats. They can seek heat, motion and vibrations.
- Machine Guns - Just like the other vehicles, it has two machine guns that can be switched between regular bullets and rubber bullets.
Batcycle: Much less impressive than the other vehicles, the Batcycle is really just a very quick motorcycle with large machine guns attached to it. Like the others, it can be controlled remotely and detonated.
Weaknesses
Psychological Flaws...
One Rule: Batman's only rule is to never kill anyone, not even people like the Joker. It's because of this rule that none of Batman's villains die, at least not after facing Batman. If he didn't have this rule, Arkham Asylum would be much less packed with villains.
Paranoid: Batman is very paranoid, especially about his sidekicks. Since the death of Jason Todd and Barbara Gordon was crippled {both the result of the Jokergoddamnitjoker.exe} Batman has been much more reluctant to let his sidekicks go with him on more dangerous missions, particularly any mission involving the Joker.
Obsessive: It's safe to say that Batman is obsessed with his war against crime. He's pretty much always working on several things involving it, even when he's posing as millionaire Bruce Wayne. It's obvious that he spends all his nights hunting down criminals and rarely gets sleep because of it.
Physical Flaws...
Human: Batman is completely human, even though he's covered in all the kevlar and protective gear. He can be killed by enough gunshots and even physical blows. There's no way his kevlar can protect against magical powers and things like that.
Melee Fighter: Most of Batman's ranged attacks and weapons are for distraction or some other purpose than fighting head-on. Batman is far better at moving in for the fight and using his ranged weapons only when he has to. Because of that, jumping around and staying at range is a good tactic when fighting Batman.
