So this was Earth.... It felt kinda strange to be here, after all the weirdness he'd gone through for the past....however long it was. It didn't even really seem like it was anything like the world he knew. It was, honestly, more than a little freaky, especially when compounded by not having his friends or really anyone he knew around. Even Pesterchum didn't seem to be working right, or else everyone was offline at the moment. It was disheartening, but then again, he'd been through infinitely worse already.
Out of habit, he checked Pesterchum as the thought crossed his mind. As always, no one was online. He could see at least two people -- Karkat and Dave -- had been online recently. At least they were safe, or alive if nothing else. Closing the chat client, he slumped down on a bench as he passed it, hanging his head. He looked tired, and sad and maybe evern eager all at once in a strange combination of emotions.
He was tired from everything that had been going on. Sad that he had no clue where he or his friends were. And just a little eager at this new world that was kind of Earth but not his Earth or something like that.
Leaning back, he yawned heavily, staring up at the sky. "It could be worse, I guess."

The human "hotel room" may have costed much human currency things, but it was definitely better than going out and interacting with the hideous inhabitants of the planet Earth. Besides, he'd arrived on Earth with a suitcase filled with "dollars", the currency of Earth. So, he was probably going to be living in that hotel room for the rest of his time on Earth, unless Dave had some other idea. Whatever his idea was, it was probably stupid. He was human, after all - humans never had any good ideas. Ever.
Karkat sat down at the hotel room's desk and opened up his laptop. After it was done booting up, Karkat opened up Trollian to see if anyone had gotten online recently. All he saw was that Dave had been online a while ago. Well, that was totally fucking useless. He already knew that Dave was online before, he didn't need to know again. As he was about to shut his laptop, another name popped up on his list. It was "ectoBiologist" or John Egbert. Karkat clicked on the name.
carcinoGeneticist has begun trolling ectoBiologist

After only a few seconds if vacant skygazing, John heard the distinct sound of a Pesterchum notification. Blinking curiously, he sat up straight, and switched on the holographic Cosbytop computer on. He pulled up Pesterchum and couldn't help but let out a "Oh hey, Karkat!" in surprise. Of course his outburst did nothing but make him look like a bit of a moron -- not that his outfit didn't already do that. The God Tier outfit or whatever it was called was pretty sweet and all, but kind of weird to look at.
He really did need to find some way to get back to his normal clothes.
But he pushed that aside for the moment and started typing on the holographic keyboard before him.
EB: oh hey karkat. EB: i've been, uh EB: around, i guess. EB: not sure where i've been around, exactly. EB: but i'm fairly sure i'm not going anywhere else unexpectedly again.

If the truth were to be told, Karkat was glad to see that John was still alive. They'd actually managed to become friends, despite Karkat's disapproval of all things related to humans, and talking to him in a non-backwards time fashion was also sort of a relief. It got pretty annoying, having to talk to increasingly past-type versions of John instead of the actual one. Karkat was, however, annoyed by how John apparently hadn't gotten any better at not being dumb since they'd last spoken. Though, Karkat wasn't at all one to talk about acting dumb, since he was pounding his fist on the desk his laptop was on despite the conversation just beginning. Sometimes, Karkat just raged at little things.
Karkat looked back at his laptop screen. He was hoping to see that Dave or someone was online so he could use him to distract John while Karkat found something to make John do. He wasn't going to just let John run around freely, there was probably important shit to do somewhere. Karkat opened up the internet and went to a news website. There, he saw that there had been reports of a strange, ape-like creature roaming through New York City. Apparently, it was called "Bigfoot" or "Sasquatch". The pitiful humans couldn't decide which.
CG: OKAY YEAH CG: I'VE GOT SHIT FOR YOU TO DO CG: AND DON'T EVEN TRY SAYING NO BECAUSE THIS IS IMPORTANT SHIT CG: YOU'RE GOING TO LOOK FOR ONE OF YOUR FUCKING HUMAN MONKEY THINGS. EXCEPT BIGGER.

Oh Karkat. Same as usual. Even ff he seemed slightly less angry than usual. Or.....kinda. He was doing much less angry cursing at everything and just his usual cursing at nothing in particular. Typical Karkat. The notion that he had something for John to do was interesting, to say the least; normally whenever Karkat said something like that, there was always something interesting involved.
Even if half the time it turned out to not be important until later.
EB: uh okay. EB: i didn't really have anything else to do so this is kind of awesome i guess. EB: so uh EB: why a giant monkey or whatever? EB: i mean i'm not complaining, but it seems kind of....random.
