^Personality:

Merlin is loyal, kind and compassionate. Above all, he is a friend. He cares for those close to his heart and shows compassion to innocent souls of the land. He is fiercely loyal to Arthur Pendragon, even sacrificing his life on multiple accounts if it would mean the survival of the Once and Future King. He is always willing to help those in need and is unafraid of facing death for his friends. Though Arthur would tell you differently, Merlin is also an incredibly wise young man. He has attention to detail, able to pick out Gwaine's unique fighting style, and always does his best to find a solution to a problem that is peaceful and beneficial to everyone (or, at least, as many people as he can).

Merlin's knowledge of magic grows with each new day, as do his abilities. Another trait easily overlooked is his skill in keeping secrets; after all, if anyone in Camelot found out he had magic, he would surely be executed. He is an admiral confidante and doesn't mind subjecting himself to the stocks and the local produce so that a friend's secrets are kept well hidden. Arthur often uses Merlin's loyalty in such ways whenever he needs to sneak under his father's radar; and Merlin does not mind this, oft times taking a bit of amusement at getting pelted with vegetation. Merlin also manages to implement his tongue as a skilled weapon, especially against Arthur. Merlin sees Arthur not as a Prince, but as a friend; and because of this, he is not afraid of telling Arthur exactly what he needs to hear. Most of the time, this ends up being a quick quip from Merlin about Arthur's lack of intelligence with a swift smack on the head in response.

However, though not often seen by many, Merlin also has a terrible dark side to him. If his friends or loved ones are threatened, he is not above reprimanding, or even killing, those who are guilty. Because of his intelligence and ability to think quickly and on the spot, his actions are swift and often unavoidable by his enemies. Merlin is a fierce protector of Prince Arthur and the future of Albion and will ultimately do what he must for the survival of the future he hopes for; even if it means such dire courses of action as poisoning a close friend. However, Merlin is not unkind and will not refuse one a second chance; however, if there is no hope of redemption for an enemy of Camelot, Merlin will do everything in his power to ensure the safety of Albion and its Future King.

Excalibur

Yes, it is true, Arthur is not the only one who can weild the mighty Excalibur. Forged in the breath of a dragon, Excalibur is a sword like no other. It is capable of killing creatures inhuman in nature and has inconcievable power. Though, it is not used often; if the sword were to fall into the hands of the corrupt, it could do unspeakable damage. It is a sword reserved only for special circumstance.

Sidhe Staff

Once belonging to a powerful Sidhe magician, this staff, combined with Merlin's magic, is a potent weapon. Merlin is able to use it to fire powerful ethereal blasts from its gem and can use it as a physical weapon to great lengths. More of a channeling device, it has little magical prowess on its own; although, it is quite a priceless object coming from the world of the Sidhe.
