Jack Noir was soaring through a wormhole in space and time. He had no chosen destination, though he did know where the wormhole was going to take him. Normally, the process of being taken to another world by a rift would have taken less than a second. It was a 'blink-and-you-miss-it' deal. Jack Noir, however, had experience with oddities of time and space. Instead of allowing it to take only a moment, Jack had manipulated the wormhole to take longer. That way, he'd be able to see what he was doing. The wormhole was a large, blue-colored, swirling vortex. Occasionally, there would be a flash of lightning or a random image of some points in space and time, which were likely from other worlds than his own. He knew everything about his world, and he didn't recognize these events.
But, Jack Noir couldn't keep the vortex going on forever. Well, he probably could but what was the use in that? He wanted to get out of it at some point. As Jack Noir exited the vortex, he found himself standing on the top of a tall building in New York City. It was definitely not the same New York City as the one from his world. He could not only sense that it was another world thanks to his First Guardian abilities, but he sensed that this New York City was home to many powerful people. Well, powerful by the standards of a normal human - they had abilities beyond those of regular people. They were probably the type who were disgusted by killing for... whatever reason. Jack Noir didn't really understand why everyone tended to overreact to the deaths of others when they're at the hands of another. Why was it any more enraging than a natural death?
Well, the confusing emotions of other people certainly weren't going to stop Jack from doing whatever he pleased. He'd spent too many years doing whatever the Black Queen asked of him to allow that. Jack leaped off of the building and plummeted to the ground. As he fell, he could hear the shocked gasps from the people below. He soon landed, making a decent-sized crater in the ground. Everyone was staring at him by now. Jack wanted to kill everyone around him, but he knew that doing so was probably an awful idea. After all, he didn't need to make himself known just yet and he especially didn't want to in the city where it seemed like every "hero" lived. So, after glancing around at the crowds of people who had been watching him, Jack started walking down the street.
