Doctor Stephen Strange
Sorcerer Supreme | Master of the Mystic Arts
Sorcerer Supreme | Master of the Mystic Arts
Basic Details
Age: 82, appears to be 43
Species: Human
Personality:Wisdom is Doctor Strange's primary quality. In fact, when people come for his help, they usually seek out some manner of wisdom from him - and with good reason. Doctor Strange was not just taught magic by the Ancient One, he was taught much more simply by the Ancient One's actions and philosophy. As such, he has become very wise. Now, just because Doctor Strange is wise does't mean he gives long speeches about morals. No, he doesn't flaunt his wisdom at all. In that way he is very humble, unlike how he used to be. Before becoming the Ancient One's apprentice, Stephen strange was an arrogant man who would only see the highest-paying people for surgery. Otherwise, he simply didn't care enough. Nowadays, Doctor Strange rarely focuses on money and instead focuses on the well-being of everyone around him.
Although he is heroic, Doctor Strange has a quality of mystery to him. It seems as though Doctor Strange doesn't like to reveal much about himself to anyone even though he apparently sees no need to keep his identity a secret. Yet, when he first met the Fantastic Four he was aloof and quiet, saying very little about himself yet still lending his aid to the team against one who would later be one of Doctor Strange's friends; Namor the Sub-Mariner. Doctor Strange's mysteriousness may be accidental, as well. Even during his surgeon days very little was known about him by the other members of the hospital staff. So, it is fully possible that Doctor Strange is simply naturally aloof and doesn't like to let people know much about him for his own reasons.
He may be mysterious, but Doctor Strange is also a very kind man. If he sees someone in need he will do his best to help them. This is because Doctor Strange has taken on the philosophy of the Ancient One, which states that those in need must be helped. Don't think that Doctor Strange doesn't want to help them - The Ancient One's philosophy is not something he's forced upon himself in an attempt to become a better person, it's something he's made a part of his personality so that he may better aid humanity as the Sorcerer Supreme. See, Doctor Strange is a very selfless man and will never put himself over others, even if said others are beggars who live in the streets. Doctor Strange seems to honestly care for every innocent person he comes across.
However, there are those that aren't so innocent in the world. Doctor Strange has faced many terrible, evil in the past and he expects to fight more. When facing these beings, Doctor Strange seems to be as calm as ever, except with an odd twinge of anger added in. For instance, he will scorn his opponents for their evil actions and, if the enemy has done something horrible enough, he might just fly into a rage and throw everything he's got at them. See, Doctor Strange is very protective of humanity as a whole. Don't take that the wrong way, though, he doesn't treat humanity as if it's helpless and he's the only thing that could possibly save it. No, he treats humanity like a great and wonderful thing filled with people who have the potential to be good.
Finally, Doctor Strange is a very determined, serious-minded person. If he has a task he wants to complete, he is damn well going to complete it and he isn't going to let anyone or anything get in his way. Whether it be saving the universe from some omnipotent deity or saving the life of someone he cares for, nothing is going to stop Doctor Strange when he has his mind set on something.

Powers & Abilities
- Magic: The title of Sorcerer Supreme is one that must be earned by one who has spent years studying the mystic arts and putting them to good use against the forces of evil. Doctor Strange has done that and more, time and time again proving his worthiness. Sorcerer Supreme is certainly not a title to be taken lightly - Doctor Strange is said, by the deity and sentience of the very universe itself Eternity, to be far more powerful than any humanoid - and another being known as the Stranger has claimed Doctor Strange to be on the level of cosmic deities. It must be said that this ability is by far the most important of Doctor Strange's - very few of his abilities would work if it were not for his mastery over the mystic arts.
- Universal Source: Some may call it reality manipulation, while some may simply call it "magic", Doctor Strange's manipulation of the ambient mystical energy seems to be his most useful magical ability, be it in battle or while simply engaging in study of the mystic arts and the deities which surround it.
- Mystical Bolts: The bolts of energy Doctor Strange fires from his hand are not only fully controlled by him, making him able to change their direction or stop them at any moment, but their levels of power range as well, according to Doctor Strange's needs. The bolts can go from a light zap to shattering planets. Doctor Strange's energy bolts have been before shown to have enough strength to topple Galactus, who has before proven to be one of the more powerful beings in Doctor Strange's universe, without taking much energy out of Doctor Strange.
- Intangibility/Invisibility: A deadly combination when one is trying to be stealthy and move about. Doctor Strange can make himself undetectable to the human eye, as well as any other means of detecting a person, as well as completely intangible, making any attack completely pointless. However, when intangible he cannot hurt anyone physically.
- Banishment/Summoning: Doctor Strange's magic allows him to manipulate other dimensions in such a way that he can banish people from a certain dimension, as well as summon a creature or person from another dimension to aid him in combat. There is honestly no limit as to what he can and cannot summon, though it is known that if one has more magical ability than Doctor Strange, they are able to resist banishment. Doctor Strange does not have to banish something large and powerful, though. He has before displayed the ability to banish regular people.
- Transmutation: The shape and form of any object means nothing to Doctor Strange. With a touch, he can transmute any object into something else entirely. For instance, he can touch something as small as a marble and transform it into a sword or literally anything else. While he certainly can turn a living being into something else, he prefers not to and most likely will not be doing such a thing.
- Elemental Magic: Much like most practitioners of the Mystic Arts, Doctor Strange does have the ability to manipulate the four main elements of the world; fire, water, earth and air. While some magic-users find themselves unable to do anything but control these elements, Doctor Strange can use his conjuring ability to create any of the elements at any given time. As a last note, some practitioners of this magic tend to specialize in one single element - Doctor Strange decided that if he were to be the Sorcerer Supreme he would have to become skilled in all of the elements. So, he did.
- Telekinesis: An advanced telekinetic, Doctor Strange seems to be able to lift anything into the air. There doesn't seem to be much of a limit to this, seeing as Doctor Strange has, in the past, been able to lift exceptionally heavy objects, some of which likely weighing over 100 tons. While most would think Doctor Strange most commonly uses this ability to throw his opponents about, the truth is that Doctor Strange more often uses this ability for lifting books for study or ingredients for a
POSIONpotion. Though, he doesn't hesitate to use this to throw enemies around in battle if he needs to.- Flight: Without his Cloak of Levitation, Doctor Strange is capable of low-speed flight. While using the Cloak for other purposes (such as wrapping around and opponent to blind him) Doctor Strange will often use this to float around the battlefield, possibly weaving in and out of an opponent's spells. If the Cloak is taken by some means, this also becomes very useful. Doctor Strange will never use this ability if he's able to use the Cloak instead.
- Teleportation: The Cloak of Levitation may be fast, but it certainly can't get Doctor Strange across dimension, or even across the Earth, in the time needed to stop some great evil that's far away. So, Doctor Strange makes up for that with teleportation, which allows him to go literally anywhere he needs to, be it on Earth or somewhere in a far-off dimension.
- Protective Shields: When faced with a magical threat, it's very likely for Doctor Strange to immediately put up one of his magical shields. These shields are incredibly durable, durable enough to take a blast from Galactus and stay strong. It would be false to say that the shields are completely indestructible, though destroying them is going to be very hard work for anyone involved. The shields allow Doctor Strange's spells out of them so that he may attack while simultaneously attacking. Doctor Strange also has a constant shield aura around him which was able to take a hit from a powerful robot and leave Doctor Strange merely stunned from the blast.
- Time Manipulation: Doctor Strange has before displayed the ability to alter time itself in many three ways, each of them requiring some amount of concentration. These three ways of manipulating time include...
- Freezing: The power to stop time altogether. If there are limitations to this ability, there are very few. Doctor Strange has before shown the ability to completely stop time with nothing but a short chant and a wave of his hand, both of which he was able to do in time to stop a raging Hulk. It seems that he's able to exert little energy on freezing time on a small scale, but when he must freeze an entire land he must meditate and draw all of his mystical energy into the freezing of time.
- Slowing/Speeding Up: Doctor Strange has the ability to both make time move slowly and make it move quickly. This ability is exceptionally useful because Doctor Strange has the ability to make himself move as time would normally move. This ability makes dodging bullets and other attacks an easy feat for him, in terms of slowing at least. Seeing as it's relatively useless, Doctor Strange rarely speeds up time, but he does have the ability to. This ability seems to have no limits, though it does take concentration to keep time slowed for over a half an hour.
- Time Travel: One of the most magic-draining abilities in a sorcerer's arsenal is the ability to travel through time. However, Doctor Strange has effortlessly traveled through time before. For instance, he's gone to Ancient Egypt just for a vacation. Doctor Strange seems to be able to access any point in time.
- Dimensional Travel: Traveling through dimensions isn't perhaps the greatest feat among sorcerers, seeing as many are able to access other dimensions. Doctor Strange, however, can access dimensions most sorcerers are unable to access - such as Hell itself. He seems to have no problem teleporting multiple people to these dimensions, seeing as he once teleported himself and Doctor Doom to Hell.
- Conjuring: Doctor Strange is able to conjure any item or person he wishes to conjure. This means two things - one being that he can bring any object or person that exists to him and the other being that he can create objects out of thin air. The objects Doctor Strange can bring to him are only limited by what exists. Obviously, he can't pull things that don't exist. He can create anything that isn't living - but he cannot replicate mystical artifacts like his Eye of Agamatto. He can, however, bring mystical artifacts to him.
- Physical Enhancing: Doctor Strange can use his magical powers to enhance his own physical attributes - he can give himself super strength, super speed, etc. However, his increase cannot be too amazing unless he wants to waste magical energy. Generally, they put him at twice the strength/speed/whatever of a normal person.
- Illusions: Doctor Strange has the ability to cast lifelike illusions for a variety of purposes. One of his most used tricks is to make illusions of himself running in various directions to confuse an opponent and make them unsure of which one is the real Strange. Of course, false duplicates of himself isn't the only thing he can do with illusions. He can create an illusion of anything he wants, making it seem as though it's really there. Because they aren't tangible, Strange's illusions cannot harm anything.
- Various Spells: As the most powerful sorcerer in his world, Doctor Strange has, through long periods of study, learned hundreds (possibly thousands) of mystical spells, with varying effects. The spells must be cast from the place where Doctor Strange's magic is at it's most powerful: the Sanctum Sanctorum. They also require certain mystical artifacts and, in some cases, ingredients to cast. An example of a spell would be Doctor Strange using a cauldron to summon a magical hand that stole Mjolnir from Thor.
- Divine Sources: Doctor Strange has the ability to call upon a variety of deities to make his own abilities strong and to grant him new abilities. Doctor Strange need only shout an incantation and use one of his abilities to combine the strength of gods with his own mystical ability. With the gods' abilities combine with his, his abilities only increase in strength. Doctor Strange can also call upon the gods to imbue him with extra abilities. One such ability was the Images of Ikonn, which was an assault of mind-images of all the wrong-doings you've done, which brought a weakened Galactus to his knees. Doctor Strange has also, in the past, called upon the gods to do something. For instance, he's made chains break just by calling upon the gods to do it.
- Darkness of the Divine Conduit: One of Doctor Strange's lesser-used ability is the power to forcibly remove the powers of another being and destroy them. He cannot absorb the abilities and use them himself. This ability is not done with a spell, it is done with sheer force of will. This ability is rarely ever done because it is a form of dark magic, which Doctor Strange strictly opposes. He's only ever used this ability in the most desperate of times, such as when Shuma-Gorath was attacking. Because it is dark mgic, using this ability does put Doctor Strange in danger of having his Sorcerer Supreme position removed.
- Astral Projection: An ability that has served Doctor Strange well over the many years he's been Sorcerer Supreme is the ability to separate himself from his own body and enter the Astral Plane. When Doctor Strange does this, he separates from his body in an ethereal, ghost-like form. In this form, Doctor Strange can control the Eye of Agamatto and the Cloak of Levitation to face his opponents. This one of the very few abilities Doctor Strange can use without being able to use his hands and mouth.
- Psychic Powers: Doctor Strange is a powerful telepath, to start with. He's at the level of his world's top telepaths. Reading minds is an obvious power of his, since it's a very basic psychic power. But, his psychic ability moves beyond that. He is able to directly attack the mind of another person. It is unknown how this process works, but it results in the person attacked feeling a great pain, much like a headache. Depending on the strength of the attack, the pain would likely be worse than a headache. Doctor Strange has also displayed the ability of manipulating the minds of others to create illusions. His illusions are very realistic, but they cannot hurt anyone. The most powerful psychic power of his is the Images of Ikonn. The Images of Ikonn reaches into the darkest corners of the targets mind and confronts them with the ghosts of all they've hurt and killed. It was shown to be powerful enough to fell Galactus.
- Universal Awareness: If there's something wrong going on in the universe, Doctor Strange will know of it. Now, this doesn't mean he knows exactly what's happening and it definitely doesn't mean that he knows whenever someone is getting mugged or hurt. If there's a problem that threatens a great amount of people, like a powerful, malevolent cosmic entity entering the world, Doctor Strange will be aware of it.
- Longevity: After winning a contest with Death, which is a sort of induction into the title of Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange has gained eternal life. But, it's the kind of eternal life that will end with a physical injury. Basically, Doctor Strange will live until he's killed by someone else.
- Knowledge of the Occult: Being the sorcerer supreme requires a great amount of study in the mystic arts, spells and many mystical deities. Doctor Strange has studied in all of those things and thus is the authority on those subjects. He knows pretty much everything there is to know.
- Martial Artist: After being taught by both Wong and the Ancient One in martial arts, Doctor Strange has become a very skilled martial artist. If his magic is ever removed or nullified somehow, he needs something to turn to - so, he's become a master martial artist. He does rely more on his magic that martial arts.

Main/Important Equipment
[/li][/ul]
- Eye of Agamotto: The Eye of Agamotto is Doctor Strange's primary artifact and one of the few artifacts that he always brings with him when he must do something. The main function of the Eye is it's "All-Seeing Light", a light it shines when the golden casing around the actual eye opens. The light can banish any illusion or disguise, revealing one's true form. The Eye's light also causes pain to any dark beings such as demons, the undead, dark beings and even more powerful users of dark magic. It has a variety of other functions too, including the power to create a magical shield and create portals to other dimensions. It's light can, when Strange commands, levitate things. It was able to levitate massive amounts of weight and seems to have no limits in that regard. It can also display images of where people are (if they aren't protected from being tracked) and images of things that have occurred in the past.
- Cloak of Levitation: The red cloak that Doctor Strange wears is not just for show - it's enchanted with a powerful levitation spell. The cloak can fly at great speeds with it's maximum speed being unknown. However, there is one drawback to flying at immense speeds with the cloak - it requires giving the cloak extra magical energy. It can fly up to 25 mph without Doctor Strange exerting any energy, but once he needs to get somewhere fast with it he needs to use some of his own magic. But, flight isn't the only thing it can do. It's magically linked with Doctor Strange's mind, thus making it do as he commands. It can ensnare opponents for Doctor Strange and basically do anything a controlled piece of cloth can do. It's very durable and Doctor Strange has often used it to defend against spells and physical attacks alike. Finally, it can completely change it's form. If Doctor Strange needs to go undercover for whatever reason, it can become a trench coat or any other article of clothing.
- Sash: His bright yellow sash is also not just for show. It can extend to ten times it's length. It's linked to Doctor Strange's mind in the same way the Cloak of Levitation is. It responds to his mental commands. It also shares the Cloak's durability and can be used as a make-shift bridge.
- Orb of Agamatto: Kept within the Sanctum Sanctorum is the Orb of Agamatto, which is a crystal ball that shows whatever Doctor Strange wants to see. It's default shape is very much like a globe, showing the planet Earth and displaying potential dangers to it's user. Doctor Strange often uses it to pinpoint the location of specific people. It can be blocked out with powerful enough magic, as displayed by Dormammu. The Orb is not limited by dimensions and worlds as it has been able to peer into those as well.
- Wand of Watoomb: The Wand of Watoomb is a, you guess it, wand that greatly increases the power of the user. Doctor Strange primarily has it to keep it from falling into the wrong hands, but if things get too bad he may use it in battle. The extent of the user's power when using the Wand is unknown. One of Doctor Strange's foes was able to use the Wand to easily defeat him.
- Ancient One's Ring: A simple silver ring with a power enchantment. The enchantment makes Doctor Strange able to use all of his abilities while in astral form. However, the enchantment lasts for only a half hour before it must be taken off for another day.
- Book of the Vishanti: A powerful spellbook filled with many spells. The Book contains only counter-spells for more offensive spells. It does contain every counter-spell in Doctor Strange's universe, making it a very important book.
- The Darkhold: The Darkhold is the Book of the Vishanti's opposite. It is filled with dark, offensive spells, some of which are too blasphemous for any but the most evil of sorcerers to use. Doctor Strange keeps this book only to ensure that it doesn't fall into evil hands.
- Various Mystical Artifacts: Doctor Strange has countless magical artifacts and books hidden away in the Sanctum Sanctorum. Even he doesn't know all of the magical artifacts he has, though he would be able to identify their uses if he saw them.
Weaknesses
Psychological Flaws...
- DARKNESS: There is one thing that Doctor Strange knows he is never supposed to do and that is call upon dark forces to aid him in battle. When he was just beginning his career as a sorcerer he foolishly called upon the magic of Dormammu and other dark beings, which he soon realized was harming him. If he were to use too much DORK SYDED magic he would be forced out of his position.
- OH MY GOD DO I PRAY: Doctor Strange relies a lot on the power of the deities he calls upon to make his attacks more powerful. If he were somehow cut off from said deities, he would be made much weaker.
- Heroism!: As Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange is sworn to defend the world from all great threats, no matter how life threatening they may be. So, he has to put himself in danger quite a bit, no matter what the cost may be. One of these days this is probably going to turn out bad.
Physical Flaws...
- Human: Doctor Strange, for all his magical abilities, is human and can be killed in any way a human can. It won't be simple, what with all the magical abilities and stuff, but it can be done.
- Hands and Incantations Reliance: Doctor Strange needs to either gesture with his hands or shout an incantation to cast a spell. Without either of those things, Doctor Strange has no way of using his magical abilities.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
History....
Stephen Strange was a wealthy, famous surgeon in a New York Hospital. He was arrogant and cared very little for others even though his job demanded that he care for people. The truth was that he took only the most wealthy patients in, so that he would get money. That was all he really cared about. But, that would all change when Stephen Strange got into a terrible car accident that left his hands broken. He was unable to preform surgery and therefore unable to make money and have any life at all. So, he spent pretty much his entire fortune looking for ways to repair his hands. Eventually he heard of a miracle worker who could help him.
Stephen Strange traveled far to get to the house of this miracle worker. As soon as he got to the Ancient One's palace in Tibet, he was refused a curse. The Ancient One said that he had no reason to cure Stephen because he was arrogant. As he was about to leave, Stephen caught sight of the Ancient One's apprentice, Baron Mordo, casting a dark spell to try and kill the Ancient One. Strange attempted to stop him but Mordo overpowered him with his magic. He bound Strange, keeping him from warning the Ancient One. In that movie, Strange underwent a change of heart. The Ancient One, sensing his change of heart, rescued Strange and told him that he was well aware of Mordo's trickery - but that it was better to keep him there than release him on the world.
The Ancient One began to train Strange in the ways of magic. He planned to make Strange the successor to the title of Sorcerer Supreme. Soon after, Mordo left the Ancient One to seek power on his own. Doctor Strange went on to battle Baron Mordo many a time. Doctor Strange soon passed a test against his universe's embodiment of Death, giving him a form of eternal life.
After he had studied long under the Ancient One, Doctor Strange returned to New York and lived in a mansion that he magically converted to the Sanctum Sanctorum. He began fighting off many magic threats, such as the dreaded Nightmare. He started a career as a magical consultant to the authorities and his reputation grew as a hero. Soon enough, more heroes began to show up. Doctor Strange avoided the other heroes, continuing to fight his own battles alone. Eventually, he opened up a bit to the other heroes, helping Thor take down Loki twice. He also ended up battling Baron Mordo with Spider-Man.
But the being that was soon to be Doctor Strange's greatest foe, the Dread Dormammu, was planning to do battle with the Sorcerer Supreme. Dormammu brought Doctor Strange to his Dark Dimension, where the sorcerer met the woman who would become his lover, Clea. Doctor Strange did battle with Dormammu and managed to weaken him to the point where the barriers around the Dark Dimension began to weaken. The Mindless Ones, powerful creatures that wished only to destroy, were going to break in. Doctor Strange aided Dormammu in getting the barriers back up. Dormammu was then honor-bound to put Doctor Strange back in his own dimension, which he did. Dormammu would become one of his greatest foes.
Afterwards, Doctor Strange aided some of the superheroes of his world in stopping some threats and attended the wedding of Reed Richards and Susan Storm. Doctor Strange managed to save Clea from the Dark Dimension.
Afterwards, Doctor Strange was forcibly exiled to another world by a powerful being named Asmodeus. To get back to his own world, Doctor Strange was forced to assume a different form, which resembled a masked superhero. Strange was also forced to change his name after a battle with Nightmare. Soon after, he was forced to manipulate two other heroes (Namor and the Hulk) into helping him fight the invading force of the Undying Ones. Disgusted with his own manipulation, Doctor Strange went back into medicine, opting against sorcery for a bit. This didn't last long as he was attacked by Baron Mordo while on the job. The Ancient One spoke to Strange, restoring his name and his old form. Just after that, the Undying Ones attacked once again. This time, Doctor Strange worked alongside the Hulk and Namor. They were also joined by the Silver Surfer. The four of them formed a team.
Months after, the Ancient One's mind was attacked by the deity named Shuma-Gorath. Doctor Strange and the Ancient One managed to beat back Shuma-Gorath but not without the Ancient One himself dying. This left Doctor Strange as the Sorcerer Supreme. Many adventures would follow this with Doctor Strange helping many other heroes and defeating those who threaten the Earth.
