Basic Details
Age: 35.
Species:Feline Human.
Personality:
If you don't know her - and you probably don't know her, even if you think you do, Selina can come off as a bit...complicated. She enjoys keeping people guessing - about her motivations, her moral limitations, her allegiance - it sort of seems to be a game to her. But ambiguity is more than just part of her charm; it's something she views as a necessity. Letting people in, letting them know too much about you, is dangerous under the best of circumstances - at least, that's how she sees it. Being elusive and 'mysterious' is not only fun, it's what keeps a girl alive in her line of work. She's very calculated when it comes to her interactions with others; taking her time to analyze them a little more than she'd admit - because admitting that would mean she cared, on some level. And for the most part, Selina really prefers to at least appear aloof.
She's a very manipulative person with some serious acting chops, and she'll pretty much feed people whatever bullshit they want to hear in order to keep them from suspecting her of anything. Selina is a skilled liar, and she isn't at all afraid of using people to get what she wants - survival of the fittest and all that. Coming from rather humble roots, she can be somewhat spiteful of those who pretty much have it made - and who didn't even have to fight for what they have. As far as she's concerned, the wealthy can go screw themselves - hell, they don't even use half of the ridiculous amount of material possessions they have, which is part of why she has so few qualms with stealing from them. The other part being...she's resentful, and kinda just thinks the rich are a bunch of jerks. She's the kind of person who likes to see the underdog rise up and beat their tougher opponent. Plus, it's just not a whole lot of fun, stealing from those who don't have much to begin with. There's no thrill in that.
As you've probably guessed, Selina's morals are a bit...questionable at times. When it comes down to it, you can't forget that she's a criminal, and she doesn't try to sugarcoat that. She's a practiced con artist, and if you're not careful, you may just be the next person she'll try to play. She'd like people to believe she's only in it for herself, and hell, a lot of the time she is. But while her deeds aren't always good, Selina isn't exactly a bad person. She'll work for whoever can afford to hire her, and sometimes that means working for a villain - but she has her standards. She doesn't like to watch innocent people get hurt, and she's not big on unnecessary cruelty. As far as her enemies are concerned, it's true that Selina has few qualms with killing 'em off if she thinks they deserve it. But you won't find her running around slaughtering people the way a lot of the criminals in Gotham do. She doesn't like revealing her softer side; she'd actually prefer people to think of her as an entirely selfish person - she's tried to convince Bruce of this on several occasions - because she just doesn't like people having massive moral expectations of her. But she's a better person than she gives herself credit for, when it comes down to it. When the weak and defenseless need protecting, she often can't bring herself to turn away from them. And the few people she does care about mean more to her than even she realizes until all the chips are down.
Confident and vivacious, she can be flirtatious and fun-loving, and instantly turn deadly serious when a job calls for it. Selina doesn't take crap from people, not even a little bit. She's smart enough to know when she's in over her head, and she tries to avoid those situations as best she can, but she doesn't forget people who try to take advantage of her either. And if she can't get them back directly, you'd better count on her taking a more underhanded approach.

Powers & Abilities
Hand-to-Hand Combat - Really, Selina is a fantastic fighter. She's become something of an expert in weaponizing her body, and it'd be clear to anyone who goes toe to toe with her that she's had a hell of a lot of training. She fights with a lightning-quick ferocity that doesn't give her opponent much time to think, and she's got some pretty incredible stamina. Not to mention almost inhuman flexibility, which definitely comes in handy when it's DODGIN' TIME...but that me to the next point.
Acrobatics - Selina is clearly in peak physical condition, and she's capable of some pretty impressive feats. Her flexibility, quick reflexes, and knack for acrobatics are almost feline-like, fittingly enough. Her balance, coordination, and agility are all also extremely impressive.
Cat Got Your...Wallet? - A highly skilled thief, Selina's worked herself up quite an infamous reputation. From pickpocketing to overriding complex security systems to cracking the most difficult of safes, her skill settles somewhere between admirable and just plain infuriating - she'll rob you blind, and probably be able to get away before you even notice what she did.
CUE MISSION IMPOSSIBLE THEME! - Jeez is this gal stealthy. I mean, your hearing might be good. Your intuition might be better. But little short of Spidey-Sense'll guarantee you're safe from her sneaking antics. She has a way of moving that's all but completely silent, good for sneaking in - and out of - places, and quickly at that. And of course, there are few things she enjoys more than sneaking up on a would-be 'tough guy' and nearly making him jump out of his skin when he realizes she's there.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Main/Important Equipment
- Two handguns
- Knife
- Lockpicks
- Signal jammer (disrupts basic video camera feed)
- Digital camera
- Safe auto-dialers
- Bladed high-heeled boots (that's right, her kicks are deadly)
- Goggles - slipped down over her mask, these function to give her an effective sort of 'night vision', and offer some protection against blindingly bright light. When not in use, they flip up and back to form what look ironically like cat ears - YEAH, SUBTLE.
- A 'swiss army knife' of sorts (in function, at least) - multiple tools, one tiny device.
- 'The Clean Slate' - Given to her by Bruce Wayne in return for aiding him in clearing a path to get citizens out of Gotham when Bane held the city hostage, this is a device that, when a person's name is entered into it, erases said name from every database in the world. Oh, you can bet she's keeping this one well under wraps.
Weaknesses
Psychological Flaws...
Kleptomaniac - It's kinda true, even if she won't admit it. Selina steals for a profit, or for her own personal gain, but even when nothing's really at stake...she kinda feels compelled to steal anyway. She likes sparkly things~
"I could've handled it." - Selina is not one to admit it when she needs help. For all her intelligence, she can be a bit...reckless, and she's been known to take on a bit more than she can plausibly handle in a fight. And she's too proud to accept help from anyone most of the time, unless it's evident that her life is in danger - in short, she's known for getting into trouble.
Guilt D< - She's really capable of a lot more empathy than what she lets on, and on the occasion when she has to double-cross someone who she actually gives a damn about, she's far from immune to guilt. And she frequently allows it to distract her.
Physical Flaws...
For all her little tricks, she is still human. I don't think this needs much explaining - she's not immune to anything a normal human wouldn't be.
Other Flaws...
DOGS
Well she's not too popular with the League of Shadows right now...well, the version she knows, at least. So she has quite a few enemies on her tail, if that counts.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
History....
Not a whole lot is known about Selina's early life; she's not exactly tossing out autobiographies. Her origins are shrouded in mystery; cluttered rumors and occasional speculation from those who stop to think about it. Her parents died when she was very young, under rather brutal circumstances, and Selina was pretty much just tossed into the nearest orphanage that would take her. She despised the place, however, and didn't tolerate it for long before she made her escape out onto the streets. ..Right. A young girl trying to get by on the streets of Gotham. You'd probably think she wouldn't last long - but through a combination of skill, falling in with the right people, and sheer dumb luck, she managed to.
Selina quickly discovered her talent for two things: gymnastics (she'd always been quite athletic), and thievery. The latter was how she managed to get by, mostly. Petty theft at first - and, as the years passed and practice built her skill, her crimes gained an infamy of their own. Once she could afford it, she invested in some more formal combat training. It's mostly that side of things that she's been perfecting over the last ten years, in which - in light of villains such as The Scarecrow and The Joker terrorizing Gotham - she's laid pretty low.
spoilers for The Dark Knight Rises after this point
During Batman's absence following the latter villain's defeat, the police force was able to make major progress in cleaning up Gotham's streets and causing the crime rate to drop hard and fast, all thanks to 'The Dent Act' - a set of laws that allowed police to go to further extremes to arrest mob members, and to prevent said mob members from getting paroled, all in the name of the late-but-still-admired Harvey Dent. The people of Gotham began to have hope for their city's future for the first time in a very long time.
Selina, however, was not quite so naive - nor was she oblivious to the rumors stirring of an underground army, being recruited and trained by a man only known as 'Bane'. Selina'd heard a lot about what Bane was capable of - had even seen some of it for herself - and she had him marked down pretty early as a guy she was not looking to mess with. After being hired by some of Bane's men to obtain Bruce Wayne's fingerprints for him, Selina narrowly escaped with her life after delivering the prints - which Bane then used to impersonate Bruce and send Wayne Enterprises into bankruptcy. The growing threat Bane posed to the city was enough to convince Batman to return after his eight years of absence - which was exactly what Bane wanted.
Bane, evidently the new head of the League of Shadows, had deduced Batman's true identity, and wanted revenge against him in the name of Ra's al Ghul. After Batman saved her from Bane's men, Selina agreed to lead him to Bane - but ended up double-crossing him to save her own skin. In the confrontation that followed, Bane revealed Batman's identity to Selina and to the rest of his army before breaking Batman's back and taking him away to a prison that was said to be 'hell on earth' - a prison in which Bane himself was rumored to be the only one to have ever escaped it. Selina (along with the majority of Gotham), however, believed Batman to be dead - and thus allowing Gotham to fall into Bane's hands. Rigging explosives in multiple parts of the city and executing a plan that left the majority of Gotham's police force trapped underground, Bane used a nuclear fusion device which he'd stolen from Wayne Enterprises, and modified said device into an atomic bomb, to effectively hold the entire city hostage.
Using a stolen statement from Commissioner Gordon, Bane then revealed the truth about Gotham's 'White Knight', Harvey Dent, to send the city into a state of outrage, and provoke a mass-breakout from the prison in which many of the prisoners arrested thanks to the Dent Act resided. Gotham City fell into a state of total, controlled chaos - with Bane at the head.
Selina, for her part, wasn't enjoying the anarchy quite as much as she might've thought she would. Though she fought to appear unfazed, she found this 'New Gotham' and the horrors that resulted from it to be disturbing. Perhaps that was why, when Batman miraculously returned to the city months later (she never did get the story on what'd happened to him), she was so easily persuaded to assist him against Bane. Of course, the 'Clean Slate' device he offered her probably had something to do with it, and initially Selina only agreed to help clear an escape route for the civilians (for it turned out Bane did mean to detonate the nuclear bomb and finish Ra's al Ghul's work by purging Gotham from the earth) before escaping herself. Bruce, however, insisted that there was 'more to her than that' - and left her to ponder this, although giving her the Batpod as means of escape anyway.
While Bruce, Gordon, Lucius Fox, businesswoman Miranda Tate, and newly appointed detective John Blake worked together in an attempt to locate the bomb and stop Bane, Selina blasted a path out of the city...before her damn conscience caught up with her, and she doubled back to help Bruce. She ended up being just in time to shoot Bane from behind, killing him and saving Batman's life. The bomb had yet to be found, however, for Miranda Tate - who revealed herself to be Talia al Ghul, the true mastermind behind Bane's plan - had gotten away with the detonator. With about ten minutes left to save Gotham, Batman shot Talia's truck off the road. She died in the resulting crash, and with no means of stopping the bomb, Batman used the Batwing to carry it away from the city - out across the water - where it exploded.
Of course, that meant that everyone assumed Batman had died as well, sacrificing himself for the city, and he was finally hailed as a hero in the aftermath. Selina, for her part, more or less slipped away into the shadows - her absence went mostly unnoticed given how busy everyone was trying to restore Gotham, and she was at last given a chance to start her life anew.
((YEP, CUTTING THIS OFF BEFORE THE AMBIGUOUS ENDING, JUST CAUSE.))
