Basic Details

^{Physical Appearance:}

Pitch is a tall, slender male with a peculiar skin tone. His skin is either grey or a very dull blue. It depends on the lighting, really. His eyes are a bright, vibrant yellow, contrasting to his dark appearance. His hair, which is spiked up, is black. He wears a very simple black robe and black pants.

^Personality:

Pitch is fear personified - someone who has no joy in life but making others fearful. As such, he sees no value in human life or any life at all. In fact, he views others as mere toys to instill fear into. Pitch is definitely a malevolent being. Not only does he have no problem at all with hurting people but he relishes every moment of their pain. He definitely lives up to the reputation given to the name 'Boogeyman' as a being who relentlessly forces people to face their greatest fears.

Pitch has a very inflated opinion of himself. He considers himself a sort of royalty and thinks himself above... pretty much anyone. IN fact, he has before given himself the title 'King of Nightmares', showing that he thinks of himself as a sort of royalty. He sees no value in things considered good, believing that fear conquers everything eventually. Being the embodiment of fear, his personality is pretty much based around it.

After hundreds of years of people telling their kids that he doesn't exist, Pitch is pretty bitter about not being believed in. He's very jealous of the other beings that are believed in (specifically the Guardians who are the most beloved by children) and because of his jealousy he wants nothing more than to ruin their happiness. See, ever since his reign was ended people have done nothing but love those that they do believe in. Pitch recognized this and because of this he absolutely despises humans and the people they love.

Powers & Abilities

• Immortal: Pitch cannot die. No matter how much he's harmed or how long he lives, Pitch will live on as long as fear does with no way to get rid of him without somehow getting rid of everyone's fear of anything, which is pretty much impossible. So, there's no real way to get rid of Pitch forever. Of course, Pitch's immortality does not make him any more durable than a human being. He can be hurt juuust as much as any human can, the wounds just can't kill him, even if he loses something like his head. In that event, he would be able to reattach his limbs.
  
  
• Black Sand: Pitch has perfected the Sandman's technique of creating and manipulating sand and twisted it to his own purpose. The sand can form into an infinite amount of things and is pretty much indestructible. The sand can form into living beings (such as horses), weapons and any other object. It can also form into float clouds of sand that can be stood on. It doesn't seem to have any actual limits to what it can or cannot be, seeing as the Sandman was able to make things like dinosaurs and planes with it. Pitch is less skilled with the sand than the Sandman, but with more training he will definitely get to the Sandman's level. Pitch can also turn the Sandman's sand into his black sand.
  
  
• Combat: Pitch is a very good combatant, being used to fighting multiple powerful people at the same time. His fighting style consists mostly of avoiding other people's attacks, due to his lack of physical strength and durability, while using ranged attacks on his enemies. Pitch is a very thin person, allowing him to slip in between attacks as he did when the Sandman was using sand whips against him. He's apparently a remarkable dodger when he's not trying to attack someone. It's much easier to hurt Pitch when he's trying to attack you as opposed to when he's dodging your attacks, since he becomes much more focused on attacking than dodging.
  
  
• Fear: Pitch can read another person's mind to find out what their fears are. More often than not he will use this to manipulate someone or just toy with them. This is believed to be a constant ability, meaning that he doesn't turn it on or off. He just immediately knows what someone is afraid of.
  
  
• Teleportation: Pitch can teleport anywhere in the blink of an eye. His teleportation isn't really all that flashy, he's just kinda.... there suddenly. He can also walk in and out of the shadows as a method of teleportation. This ability is preeeetty self-explanatory.

• Scythe: If Pitch were put in a situation where he had to fight someone close up he would use his scythe, which is exceptionally large, allowing Pitch to stay away from his opponent where he does best. Besides it's size, the scythe has no special abilities.
  

Weaknesses

^{Psychological Flaws...}

• Clap ur hands if u believe: Nobody really believes in the Boogeyman, right? Well, that's pretty much the reason why Pitch is bitter towards... well, most everything. He's actually pretty jealous towards those that are believed in.
  
  
• Better than u: Pitch genuinely thinks that he's superior to everyone else. Why? Because at one point he ruled the world with fear. Since then he has been... demoted, to say the least. However, the mindset of being better than everyone else remained with him since then, making him believe that he's better than everyone he meets.
  

^{Physical Flaws...}

• Pitch can feel pain just as everyone else can. While he can't necessarily die, he is able to be put out of commission for a while. He's neither more durable than any other human nor physically stronger, giving him a major weakness while fighting powerful opponents.
  

^{Other Flaws...}

• The Guardians: Pitch absolutely despises the Guardians and would stop at nothing to see them destroyed. He's pretty much obsessed with destroying them, actually. Using his hatred of the Guardians is probably a good way to manipulate them.

History....

{The first half of this is pure headcanon :'D}
Pitch came into existence when fear was first felt. For the longest time he was without purpose, doing nothing but making creatures all around the world feel fear. Then, the Man on the Moon contacted him. He invited Pitch into a group he was creating called the Guardians. At that time it only had one member - the Sandman. Pitch accepted the invitation and joined the group, becoming the Guardian of Fear, an emotion that made both the Man on the Moon and the Sandman wary of him. A negative emotion had no place among the ranks of the Guardians.

Eventually, Pitch was deemed too evil to be in the Guardians. Pitch, deciding that he didn't like this at all, attempted to kill the Man on the Moon. However, he was stopped by the Sandman. After a great battle between the two, Pitch was defeated. However, he was not stopped. As the Earth plunged into the Dark Ages he began to reign over everything with fear. They even made a holiday for him: Halloween. The Man on the Moon attempted to stop Pitch, but he had grown too powerful for the Sandman to face alone. So, the Man on the Moon took three new people in the ranks of the Guardians - Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy. Together, the Guardians defeated Pitch and imprisoned him in a lair beneath the Earth.

Many years later, Pitch managed to gather what little of his power he had left and escape his imprisonment. In those hundreds of years of imprisonment, Pitch had made a plan to completely destroy the Guardians. The Man on the Moon, being aware of this, deemed another worthy of the title of Guardian: Jack Frost. Pitch began his plan by traveling to the Tooth Fairy's palace and taking all of the fairies and the teeth, which contained memories. This stopped children from having their teeth replaced by quarters, making them not believe in the Tooth Fairy. The Guardians attempted to rectify this by distributing quarters themselves, but Pitch stopped them and killed the Sandman.

Jack Frost attempted to stop him alone but Pitch manipulated him with his lost memories. By the time Pitch had fled, he'd already ruined Easter as well. Now children were believing less and less in the Guardians, who relied on belief to live. With the team's spirit broken, Jack fled to the North Pole to brood. There, Pitch attempted to manipulate him into joining his side and taking over the world. When Jack declined, Pitch defeated Jack in battle and broke his staff. Soon after, Jack discovered his memories and found that his powers didn't rely on his staff With all of the Guardians defeated, Pitch's power became greater than ever before. But, when Pitch was about to win, the Guardians rallied together around the one boy who still believed.

However, they were powerless with only one person believing Pitch had practically won already. But that wasn't the case - the boy managed to get his entire neighborhood to believe in the Guardians. With their power restored, the Guardians tried to fight Pitch. They were defeated, but Pitch was weakened. Just when it seemed that Pitch had won, the Sandman returned from the dead and defeated Pitch with ease. Soon after, he was banished back into his lair. But, with the worlds shifting, Pitch's banishment was not as long as one would thing. Now, with his power restored, Pitch is back at it again...
