Basic Details
Age: Ageless
Species: Personification of fear
Physical Appearance:Pitch is a tall, thin man with a very thin frame. His most notable features are probably his grey skin and yellow eyes. When disappearing into the dark, Pitch can make his eyes and mouth are visible in the darkness. Pitch's hair is black and spiky. His face is very thin, with a prominent nose and thin, grey lips. As far as clothing, Pitch does really dress in anything over-exciting. He wears a black robe over black pants. He certainly doesn't dress dramatically.
Personality:If you were to meet Pitch from before the Dark Ages and then go and see Pitch now, you would be surprised, to say the least. The power he wielded back in those days warped him, changing him from a benevolent man to someone who lives up to his title of the King of Nightmares. Pitch is cruel and uncaring, often taking advantage of people's fears just for the fun of it. Although his goals used to be somewhat sensible (for instance, getting revenge for on who he believed had caused his daughter's death) they have also been warped. Now, all he wants is to destroy the people who imprisoned him and plunge the Earth into a new Dark Age.
Having great power and suddenly losing it made Pitch focus himself on gaining power. Without even realizing it, Pitch had become power-hungry and arrogant. All he wants is more power, particularly power enough to defeat the Guardians. Because he knows what he was once capable of, Pitch is arrogant and vain. No matter who or what you are, Pitch will think that you're below him - even if you prove yourself to be more powerful than him. As a result of this, Pitch will often mock and belittle his opponents. He is absolutely obsessed with his goals, so he's basically focused his entire life on them.
Pitch sees no value in emotions that most would consider good. In fact, he outright hates things like 'hope' and 'wonder'. His distaste for these emotions comes from a deep-set jealousy of the Guardians. After hundreds of years of parents telling their children that he doesn't exist and to believe in the Guardians, Pitch longs for a life where parents tell their children to fear him and forget the Guardians. While Pitch honestly does want to be believed in, this doesn't mean that his motivations are good. As before stated, Pitch wants to create a new Dark Age and he knows that the only way he could do that is by making people both believe in and fear him.

Powers & Abilities
- Black Sand: Pitch's black sand is his main ability in battle. It is the same technique that the Sandman uses - the formation of sand into shapes to use in fighting. The sand can form itself into pretty much anything Pitch needs including weapons and living animals. His most common creation was Nightmare Horses, though he was also able to make shields and a bow and arrow. Due to being somewhat new to the technique {he perfected it while imprisoned and trying to regain his power} Pitch is not as good at using it as the Sandman. However, with more use, he could eventually get to that level. The black sand creations also have the ability to fly, no matter what their shape is. For instance, the Nightmare Horses he made were able to fly. The sand, despite being magical, is still vulnerable to all the weaknesses of regular sand. Getting it wet is one easy way to make it ineffective. The individual grains of sand may be indestructible, but the sand creations can be destroyed.
- Shadows: Pitch has the ability to create and control shadows, which have the ability to interact with solid things. For instance, a large shadow hand was able to knock out the lights. Despite being able to interact with real things, the shadows still function like normal shadows - they cannot become three-dimensional objects. Since they are shadows, they can be destroyed by shining a light on them. Besides that, it's pretty much useless to try and physically attack them since they're... well, shadows.
- Force Field: This ability is very... vague, since it was only used once against Jack Frost. Pitch can form force fields around his hands and body, allowing him to block attacks that were originally effective against him. The only time he was ever shown using this was when blocking Jack Frost's ice beam. The force field appears to be invisible and able to surround his entire body.
- Teleportation: Pitch's main way of getting around is teleportation. He seems to be able to go wherever he wants through this process. His main method of teleportation seems to be disappearing into the shadows. If not disappearing into the shadows, Pitch just sort of poofs in a puff of black smoke.
- Fear: Pitch has a strange sort of "mind reading" that gives him access to all of the fears of everyone around him. This is not an ability that he turns on and off, nor can it really be blocked by mind protection. Mind protection doesn't work because the ability is actually much less mind reading and more Pitch being fear itself and just knowing everybody's fears.
- Immortality: Pitch cannot die. No matter how much he's harmed or how long he lives, Pitch will live on as long as fear does with no way to get rid of him without somehow getting rid of everyone's fear of anything, which is pretty much impossible. So, there's no real way to get rid of Pitch forever. Of course, Pitch's immortality does not make him any more durable than a human being. He can be hurt juuust as much as any human can, the wounds just can't kill him, even if he loses something like his head. In that event, he would be able to reattach his limbs.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Main/Important Equipment
- Scythe: If Pitch were forced into a situation where he had to fight someone close up he would use his scythe. It's exceptional size allows Pitch to stay away from his opponent, where he does best. Besides it's size, the scythe has no special abilities.
Weaknesses
Psychological Flaws...
- Clap ur hands if u believe: Nobody really believes in the Boogeyman, right? Well, that's pretty much the reason why Pitch is bitter towards... well, most everything. He's actually pretty jealous towards those that are believed in. His jealousy can make him somewhat easy to get him to do what you want, if you can convince him that it will help him destroy the Guardians.
- Better than u: Pitch genuinely thinks that he's superior to everyone else. Why? Because at one point he ruled the world with fear. Since then he has been... demoted, to say the least. However, the mindset of being better than everyone else remained with him since then, making him believe that he's better than everyone he meets.
Physical Flaws...
- Pitch can feel pain just as everyone else can. While he can't necessarily die, he is able to be put out of commission for a while. He's neither more durable than any other human nor physically stronger, giving him a major weakness while fighting powerful opponents.
Other Flaws...
- The Guardians: Pitch absolutely despises the Guardians and would stop at nothing to see them destroyed. He's pretty much obsessed with destroying them, actually. Using his hatred of the Guardians is probably a good way to manipulate them.

History....
{I incorporated a lot of the book canon into my own headcanon this time around :'D}
When fear was first felt, Pitch was created. It is unknown why that emotion alone resulted in the creation of a being, but it could be because of how powerful that emotion was. When Pitch was young, he was very different from how he became in later life. At first, he used his fear to encourage people to do good by giving them frightening thoughts of what could happen if they didn't do good. He really had very little pleasure in the world besides making people scared, though he was far from evil. He was really much more of a neutral party at that point, neither good nor evil. Eventually, he was contacted by the Man in the Moon, who told him about a group he was forming called The Guardians.
As a Guardian, Pitch met the Sandman and learned that at first, he had been the only Guardian. But now there was need for two. As a Guardian, Pitch became a tad more benevolent despite being the Guardian of Nightmares. However, this made people believe in him a bit less - making less people able to see him. After all, if people weren't scared of him, they weren't really believing in him. However, he ignored this and eventually met a woman who he fell in love with. They eventually had a daughter. The mother died early in their daughter's life, leaving Pitch to raise her alone. When the daughter reached nine years old, something terrible happened. Because she didn't fear him, his daughter could no longer see him. Pitch was devastated and soon realized that nobody believed in him any longer.
Immediately, Pitch blamed the Man in the Moon for making him less frightening than before by joining the Guardians. Pitch teleported to the Moon and attempted to kill the Man in the Moon. However, he was stopped by the Sandman, who proved to be more powerful than him by defeating him. The defeated Pitch returned to Earth to find that his daughter had been killed by one of the enemies of the Guardians. Now in a rage at what had happened, Pitch essentially turned evil. Using his abilities, Pitch plunged the Earth into a Dark Age, forcing fear into everyone he met. Pitch was at his most powerful then. Because of this, he gained his own holiday: Halloween. Everybody believed in him... but at the cost of the lives of many. In this time, Pitch's soul was utterly corrupted, turning him into what he is now. He lost sight of his goal and practically forgot his daughter. Now all he cared about was fear and power.
The Man in the Moon, seeing how dangerous Pitch was, attempted to stop him by sending the Sandman to fight him. In the battle, Pitch managed to defeat the Sandman with the power he had gained from the widespread fear. The Man in the Moon, seeing that the Sandman couldn't stop Pitch, decided to take action by getting three more Guardians to help the Sandman: Nicholas St. North {Santa Claus}, E. Aster Bunnymund {The Easter Bunny, if you couldn't guess} and Toothiana {The Tooth Fairy}. Together, the four Guardians managed to defeat Pitch, putting an end to the Dark Ages and imprisoning him in an other-dimensional lair. Pitch spent hundreds of years planning his escape and what he would do after. Eventually, he came up with the perfect plan.
Pitch managed to gather what little of his power he had left and escape his imprisonment. The Man on the Moon, being aware of this, deemed another worthy of the title of Guardian: Jack Frost. Pitch began his plan by traveling to the Tooth Fairy's palace and taking all of the fairies and teeth, which contained memories. This stopped children from having their teeth replaced by quarters, making them not believe in the Tooth Fairy. The Guardians attempted to rectify this by distributing quarters themselves, but Pitch stopped them and, in the battle, killed the Sandman.
Jack Frost attempted to stop him alone, but Pitch manipulated him with his lost memories. By the time Jack returned to the Guardians, Pitch had already destroyed Easter as well. Now children were believing less and less in the Guardians, who relied on belief to live. With the team's spirit broken, Jack fled to the Arctic to brood. There, Pitch attempted to manipulate him into joining his side and taking over the world. When Jack declined, Pitch defeated Jack in battle and broke his staff. Soon after, Jack discovered his memories and found that his powers didn't rely on his staff With all of the Guardians defeated, Pitch's power became greater than ever before. But, when Pitch was about to win, the Guardians rallied together around the one boy who still believed.
However, they were powerless with only one person believing Pitch had practically won already. But that wasn't the case - the boy managed to get his entire neighborhood to believe in the Guardians. With their power restored, the Guardians tried to fight Pitch. They were defeated, but Pitch was weakened. Just when it seemed that Pitch had won, the Sandman returned from the dead and defeated Pitch with ease. Soon after, he was banished back into his lair. But, with the worlds shifting, Pitch's banishment was not as long as one would thing. Now, with his power restored, Pitch is back at it again...
