Category: The Possession
Ranking: Civilian
Reason for being on AM: No reason for her not to be here, she's not from the future or the past or like...Wonderland or anything like that! xD
Basic Details
Age: Eleven years old.
Species: Demonically influenced human.
Physical Appearance: All in all, Em's a pretty cute little kidshe will give u DIABEETUS!!!! , and that does add to her charm. Her long, full auburn hair tends to get a bit 'fluffy' if it isn't tamed, and so she's oftentimes seen with it braided or pulled into pigtails, or something of that nature. She also likes hats. Hats are fun. She has warm amber eyes and a bright smile, and while she might be a bit on the scrawny side (4'9, and getting skinner by the day despite how much of an appetite she's developed), she has that 'potential to be quite pretty but not quite out of that little kid stage yet' sort of look about her.
Personality: Em is articulate and clever for her age, able to hold a much more intelligent conversation than you'd think an eleven year old would. However, as a result, she's one of those kids who seems to be in a liiiittle too much of a hurry to grow up. There's a lot about the world she doesn't understand yet, and she tends to try to before she's really ready. Much to her father's amusement, she likes to spend her time pursuing various causes. Right now, it's vegetarianism. She's a huge animal lover, and has recently decided to quit eating meat altogether. To her credit, she's a stubborn little thing, and she supports any cause she takes up pretty fiercely - she's not just one of those 'jump on the bandwagon' types.
Despite her intelligence, Em really is still just a kid at heart. She's certainly not stupid, but she has a tendency to be naive, and to hope for the best even when doing so is terribly unrealistic. For example, her parents are divorced, but she frequently talks about them as if they're going to be getting back together. It doesn't help that she's a very loyal, family-oriented person, and her family splitting up really took a toll on her. Still, with a little encouragement, Em is capable of just kicking back and enjoying being a kid. She's sweet-natured and playful, and her interest in dressing up and having 'pretty' things is clear evidence that she's most certainly got a girly side. However, Em has a very adventurous nature to combat that - she's quite headstrong, and incredibly eager to investigate any new surroundings she's placed in. Em's not a shy kid, not in the slightest, and she's got a very inquisitive and exploratory nature.
She's usually pretty good at making people smile - she's got the charming, inadvertent sense of humor that you'll often find in younger kids, tempered with the bits of sarcasm and older humor she's beginning to learn from her older sister. She can also be just a tad bossy - she's defiant, and can be a bit of a know-it-all when she's challenged...but that just comes with being a pre-teen, really! Overall, Em's a pretty good kid. She means well; she's not a trouble-maker or an instigator, and she can usually be found in relatively high spirits.
...Lately, however, that has begun to change. Em is beginning to display subtle differences in her demeanor. It's not terribly noticeable unless you know her extremely well, and it's not constant - she still has her good days. But in episodes that are becoming more and more frequent, she is beginning to become more quiet and withdrawn...almost sickly. She reports "feeling funny" if asked, often quietly stating "I don't feel like me." This has been largely chalked up to her parents' divorce, and the resulting loneliness from it. No one seems to look into it more deeply than that.
The reality is, however, that Em is being haunted by a dybbuk: a malicious spirit based in Jewish lore, a demonic entity. The dybbuk takes children as its victims, but it has not entirely possessed Em yet - oh no. It needs to slowly attach to her, and is thus more heavily influencing her than possessing her...at least for now. The dybbuk itself is nothing but malicious; it has no redeeming qualities, and it has no sense of morality. It is simply desperate to regain life, and will hound its possession victims relentlessly. It is attracted to innocence, and corrupting that innocence, and it is nothing if not sadistic - it has no qualms in brutally killing anyone that becomes suspicious of it, or gets in the way of what it wants.
If it were to possess Em, then she would lose herself and all of her control entirely. For now, however, she sees it only as her 'imaginary friend'...and she is very, very protective of both it and the box that inhabits it.

Powers & Abilities
EM:
Artistic Ability - Em's got quite a talent for sketching and drawing, and she's already begun to develop this skill. It may quite easily become something she's going to pursue in life.
Intelligence - Em is especially bright and articulate for an eleven year old girl, with a higher understanding of things than she appears to have. She's a quick learner, and with the right teacher may become exceptionally intelligent as she grows older.
The Dybbuk:
Advanced Telekinetic Ability - The dybbuk seems to have extensive amounts of control over its surroundings - from objects to people. It has a nasty habit of breaking bones and snapping necks...and making you bleed internally and having your teeth fall out. Y'know. The usual. These sorts of attacks are preventable if you have some sort of holy protection.
MOTHS! - Like a plague swooping in, the dybbuk seems to have control over a specific species of moths. It can literally summon swarms of them.
Heightened Strength/Speed - When the dybbuk has a body to possess, it is capable of exerting strength and speed that are far above the level of an average human's.
Invulnerability - When possessing a human, conventional weapons really don't seem to have much of an effect on it...nor do conventional holy weapons. It's a Jewish demon, guys, so don't like...expect to keep it at bay with a cross or holy water blessed by a Catholic priest!
Pied Piper~ - Children are naturally attracted to the dybbuk, almost enchanted by it. That is how it lures its prey.
Electrokinesis - The dybbuk has the ability to affect electronic elements of its environment - it can mess with lighting, wires, or any nearby electronic device, and even causing things to ASPLODE!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Main/Important Equipment
The Dybbuk Box - A beautiful wooden box with intricate Hebrew letter carvings, with no evident way to open it - there's a trick to it, making opening it seem a bit unnecessarily tedious. Almost as if someone didn't want it being open. Inside the box are several strange old items including a mirror, a large dead moth, a ring (which Em wears), a human tooth, and several wooden animal carvings.
Unknown to Em or her family at this point, the box is a dybbuk box - built to contain a malevolent spirit. When the box is opened, the spirit is released...and free to attempt to possess its victims.
Click for a good look at it!
The Ring - A jade ring that Em found inside the box - she wears it consistently now, which...is vaguely concerning, because it's began to discolor her hand.
Weaknesses
Psychological Flaws...
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark! - Well, Em is. She tends to freak out a bit, actually - she always asks to sleep with the door to her room open.
Anxiety About Parents' Divorce - Em's having quite a few issues with this. It's caused her a fair amount of distress and insecurity, and it's also caused a severe bit of loneliness - hence her attraction to the supernatural being offering to be her 'friend' (or anyone offering to be her friend, really, she'll probably be fairly easy to manipulate in that way).
Effects of Possession - The dybbuk is only able to possess Em for brief periods of time at the moment, but its influence is causing some SEVERE emotional distress. There are days when she seems significantly less cheerful than she normally is, and often seems 'tired' and 'distant' - it saps at her emotional energy and makes her a significantly darker, more unhappy person.
Physical Flaws...
Demonic Possession - It has some pretty nasty physical effects as well. Apart from sapping her energy and wiping away of any memories of events occurring during periods of possession, the effects of the possession make her somewhat sickly - even leaving odd bruises on various parts of her body.
Ravenous Appetite - The dybbuk is always hungry, and it transfers that energy into Em. She has an appetite that is absolutely alarming for a girl so small, and the intensity and speed of her metabolism has increased as well - so she has to eat a lot of food on a more frequent basis.
y u cryin' - The possession produces a curious effect in which the eyes of whoever it's possessing will water and tear. It's not, like, open sobbing or anything - you'd have to get pretty close to her to notice the tears slipping down her face, but it's a sure sign that the dybbuk's taken hold of her.
Exorcism - Exorcising the dybbuk is possible - through a specific Jewish ritual that involves commanding the creature back into the box in which it has been trapped. To do so, however, you need to learn the dybbuk's name.
Only Human. Most of the Time - When not possessed by the dybbuk, Em is very blatantly human. And she's just a kid, to top it off.
Other Flaws...
WHERE'D YOU GUYS GO D: - Em's in a strange place, without her family. I mean. A kid wandering around on AM alone is always gonna be a little problematic. If not traumatic.

History....
Em was born to Clyde and Stephanie Brenek, and grew up with one older sister, Hannah. They were a fairly normal, happy family until, about a year and a half ago, Clyde and Stephanie divorced. The event shook up everyone; with Hannah becoming more resentful and withdrawn and Em...just sort of becoming lost and confused. Hannah and Em split their time between their parents, mainly living with their mother but spending every other weekend at their father's home. It was during one of her stays with her father when Em found the box.
Clyde had recently moved into a new, larger house, and he was still unpacking - and in need of a few essentials. Em reminded him that they needed dishes, and so they ventured out to buy some...and ended up stopping at a neighborhood yard sale. The 'yard sale' was actually a means of selling off the possessions of an elderly Jewish woman who was on her death bed after recently being severely injured by an unknown cause. Em was enchanted by some of the older objects for sale, particularly an old, beautiful wooden box. She was almost magnetically drawn to it, and pleaded with her father to buy it for her. He ultimately relented.
On her way out, however, she passed the window of the old woman - who, bandaged and sickly as she was, spotted Em holding the box and proceeded to begin screaming "No!" repeatedly and pounding on the window. She was eventually subdued, however, and Em was led away - although shaken by the occurrence.
The following night, Em managed to work out how to open the box...and it was from there that strange events began to occur in her household and around her. Several notable incidents included: moths swarming Em's bedroom, Em spontaneously growing angry and stabbing her father in the hand with a fork, and her experiencing episodes of gagging - ultimately shining a flashlight in her mouth and finding a lifeless, gray hand trying to reach up out of her throat. At least...that's what Em thought she saw. But that's ridiculous, right? Of course it is. And that's why she hasn't told anyone. Because they'd think she was crazy.
And it was soon after that that Em ended up here, on AM. With her box. There's no way this can go wrong.
