Captain Jack Harkness
Basic Details
Age: 2200
Species: Human
Physical Appearance:Jack Harkness is only a half-inch above average height. His blue eyes and dark brown hair make him a fairly average looking person, in terms of colors and whatnot. Due to the pheromones common in men in the 51st Century Jack always looks and smalls attractive to both genders. Jack doesn't really dress extravagantly. He usually wears a button-down shirt (usually white or dark blue), a brown leather belt and grey or black pants. On his ear is a metal communicator earpiece for contacting other members of Torchwood or his other allies. Jack is almost never found without his long, grey, military-style coat. On his right arm, hidden underneath his coat's sleeve, is the vortex manipulator.
Personality:The enigmatic Jack Harkness is enigmatic because he wants to be, not because he is. He likes to present himself as a mystery, believing it to be more fun when people know absolutely nothing about it. Plus, he knows that a mystery is alluring. See, the 51st Century has completely different views on romance and sex. Jack is, first and foremost, a flirt. No matter was gender or race he comes across (even robots in a few cases), Jack's first reaction will be to flirt. This has calmed down in recent years, but he's still very much a flirt.
Unlike himself in his cowardly early years, Jack Harkness has become very brave. He's totally willing to go ahead and fight aliens for the good of the world. In fact, he sacrifices his life on a weekly basis. Of course he comes back, but it's the thought that counts. His own abilities have made Jack secretly wonder if he wants to die or not. After having experience real death once, Jack is still indecisive about what he wants. He's still curious about if what he experience really was death or just some after-effect of his sacrifice. So, Jack remains indecisive about death.
Despite his indecisiveness, Jack is still willing to joke about his abilities. Jack has a great sense of humor and would probably joke about almost everything if given the chance. In Jack's case, enigmatic doesn't necessarily mean that he's quiet in his not revealing anything about himself. Jack isn't the type to keep quiet, instead he talks about pretty much anything besides himself. He likes to keep the atmosphere cheerful whenever possible and does so by joking around about things.
Like anyone, Jack isn't all fun and games. He has his moments of intensity and can even seem cruel at times. Jack is all about defending the human race, having taken some of The Doctor's own opinions as his own. The only difference is that Jack is willing to enforce his opinions through violence. On one occasion he was forced to shoot one of his own teammates to ensure the safety of the human race.

Powers & Abilities
- Fixed Point in Time: Jack's main ability is one he gained while traveling with the Ninth Doctor. When facing the Daleks, he was shot by a laser and killed. However, he was revived by Rose Tyler, who had absorbed a great amount of power from the Doctor's TARDIS. The revival was so powerful that it accidentally made Jack into a fixed point in time - meaning that he can never die. If Jack Harkness were to be shot or stabbed, he would come back to life after only a few seconds. If Jack sustains a particularly nasty wound, it immediately begins to heal. The same can't be said for lesser wounds, which heal normally. The process of coming back to life is apparently incredibly painful. Jack himself described it as being dragged across broken glass.
- 51st Century: Jack is from the 51st Century, which gives him a few things to brag about. For one thing, he has a great knowledge of the past and what will happen, though he isn't about to share it with anyone due to spoilers. The 51st Century has an odd practice where men are granted natural pheromones that make him smell nice and look attractive. However, the pheromones are definitely not powerful enough to make everyone swoon over him.
- Peak Physical Condition: After fighting aliens and training for so long in Torchwood, Jack is in a pretty good condition. For one thing, Jack has proven strong enough to rip bolts off of chains to escape imprisonment. He's also proven to have great reflexes, especially in a fight. This ties into him being great with weapons, but more on that later. In an unpredictable business like Torchwood, one has to... well, run a lot. Jack is a very fast runner, but not superhumanly so.
- FIGHTAN: Fighting aliens and other creatures is a job that requires having some knowledge of physical combat. Jack, of course, does. He's no expert in physical combat, but he knows how to get things done in a fight. Jack usually relies less on his fists and more on a gun or some other weapon. Jack always carries a gun with him, even if he isn't on a Torchwood mission.
- You seem like the expert, Jack!: Jack knows a lot about various alien life-forms, particularly those that come to Earth. He's also an expert in alien technology, though he knows better than the use it on the field without being exceptionally careful.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Main/Important Equipment
- Vortex Manipulator: The Vortex Manipulator is a device that's worn around the wrist of the user. It's main function is to travel through time and space, basically functioning as a teleporter that can go through time as well. Although it's traveling functions were disabled by the Doctor, Jack has recently used the alien technology at Torchwood to reactivate it. However, a regular Vortex Manipulator has some other functions besides traveling. It can unlock doors, project holograms, track any form of life and control electronic devices. Jack's Vortex Manipulator has been customized. Now it can play music (and any other form of sound), send a signal out, scan printed text and scan bodies for life.
- Communicator: Jack's earpiece is a communicator. He usually uses it to talk to other members of Torchwood.
- Other stuff: At Torchwood base there is a large amount of alien technology and regular weapons, mostly guns. The only rule is that no member of Torchwood is allowed to take alien technology out of the base without Jack's permission. Obviously, this doesn't apply to Jack because... he is Jack. But he's still very wary about bringing alien technology with him.
Weaknesses
Psychological Flaws...
- I FED AHP WIFF DIS WURLD: ...Or is he? Jack is confused about life and death, especially which one he wants. He definitely knows what life is like and... he thinks he knows what death is like, but he isn't exactly sure. Jack is very conflicted about life and death, especially since he knows that he will never die.
- ~Enigmatic~: Jack doesn't like letting people know things about himself, especially his history. This can, and has before, lead to people not trusting anything he says. In fact, even his own teammates at Torchwood have expressed their distrust towards his withholding of information.
- Fearless: Knowing that he'll just come back to life if he dies, Jack has become a pretty fearless person. This can lead to him getting beat up in all sorts of ways, particularly ways that won't immediately heal.
- THE 21ST CENTURY IS WHEN IT ALL CHANGESAJDJJEJDF: Jack is from the 51st Century, so he knows quite a bit about what's going to happen in the past. He doesn't know specifics about every person ever or specifics about small events, or small in comparison to what's happened recently in the 51st Century. But, he knows about all the major events... and he needs to live with not telling people what's going to happen and trying to prepare everyone for it... without directly telling them. Pretty stressful.
Physical Flaws...
- Ouch! Ha ha ha:
points if you get the The Room referenceJack can be hurt physically and he can die... for all of five or ten seconds. If he dies, Jack will come back quickly. The most effective way to put him out of commission is to cover him with small wounds.- reviving pls: When Jack comes back to life, the process is incredibly painful. He tries to avoid it for this reason alone.
Other Flaws...
- Doctor... WHO!?: The Doctor was a big inspiration in the life of Jack Harkness. His Ninth incarnation was able to change Jack into a completely different person. Jack has, since meeting the Doctor, strived to uphold the Doctor's viewpoints.
