Kalea
AKA, Megan McMullan
((PIC COMING SOON))
Basic Details
Age: 15
Species: Human!
Physical Appearance: As Megan, she is a curly-haired young woman with a somewhat unkempt appearance and a strange look in her eyes and in her features that conspire to say she is a little different from most people - less 'here' for one thing. She wears clothes that were put on her, with an eye more for function than for style - sweatpants, slippers, a paint-stricken hoodie some sizes too large for her, that kind of thing.
As Kalea, when the ornate pink-and-gold carnival mask is on her face, she is... different. Her eyes focus, her posture changes, and she moves with definite purpose compared to her usual dreamy-eyed shuffle. Her suit is like something out of a comic book, a mix of pink and dark violet in patterns that shift and move subtly as she wears it and uses her powers.
Personality: Megan is autistic, and low-functioning. She barely speaks, preferring to gesture and indicate her desires nonverbally. She is disturbed, constantly trying to rid herself of the images and sounds that plague her every waking and unwaking moment, leading her to elaborate self expressions in other areas - writing, music, and most of all, drawing. Because of this, she tends to neglect herself and anything around here, focusing intently on whatever it is that currently has her attention. She was never really mistreated, but her parents, wealthy and busy as they are, couldn't see to her needs themselves and had to hire a permanent nanny to look after her. Megan will literally work until she drops, but when she's wearing headphones and listening to nonvocal, nonaggressive music she sort of... comes down and responds where before she would be unable to tear herself away.
Kalea is sort of a demipersona she invented when she made her mask. Its like... Megan with the stops off and blinders on. When she's Kalea, the noise stops and she becomes... sharp. Normal isn't the right word, she approaches problems from unusual angles and sees things a little differently, and she still has problems with people (She is socially akward and very, very shy about talking to folks), but its like she's another person - she speaks well, and demonstrates great, tenacious courage. She has a strong spirit, even without her precious mask, but with Kalea she can show it to the world.

Powers & Abilities
Schematic Mind: Through understanding and examination, Kalea can get a good image in her head about how things are put together and how they function, even if she's never seen a similar object before - call it a talent.
Keen Eye: She has an eye for detail. She tends to analyze things bit by bit and see little things - a faint residue of cigarette ash on the street corner, a subtle dryspot in pouring rain where somebody stood, a little glint on a rooftop where the sniper is sitting, that kind of thing. She notices stuff!
Judo: It would be a pretty poor watch indeed if Nanny didn't know her charge was galavanting about fighting crime! It'd be even worse to stop her, or let her go out there without something to defend herself with! Judo is Kalea's weapon of choice. The "Gentle Way" emphasizes throws, holds, and generally avoids strikes of any kind. Kalea is a natural - she's not a master or even all that formidable, but she'll level the average thug, no problem. Naturally, Megan can't do this.
NANNY OF DOOM: Nanny is very, very good at what she does. Where Megan OR Kalea walks, Nan isn't far behind with a variety of things that make Megan happy and other things to make other people very unhappy. She is a martial artist in a dress, a damn good driver, and generally very frightening. She is adept, and her pay grade reflects this. On top of all that, she honestly cares about Megan's well being - Nan will never give up, never stop coming to rescue her charge. So you gotta ask yourself - who the heck is this woman? She's a machine! Where the heck could she have learned all this crazy stuff? She's Mary F'ing Poppins. You don't get to understand.
Psychomanifestation: When Megan becomes Kalea, she taps into parts of her noggin that most people never understand. Her own natural inclinations combined with this gave her a sort of psychic power - the ability to create matter with her mind. This is in its infancy, but she can do a variety of things with it. When her powers are manifesting, her eyes glow a sort of magenta-pink color, and the sound of faint music box tones emanate from her head. The things she creates don't yet last very long... but certainly long enough to be useful! Megan? Make things with her mind? Thats silly!
---Construct: She can make short-lived creatures. Right now, she only makes birds - pink ravens to be exact. They're not too dangerous, and last only a couple seconds each, but using them as projectiles and distractions is more her style anyhow! She loves birds...
---Subconcious Constructs: Longer-lived little pink men that her powers produce on their own without her discretion. They operate on her subconcious, and don't answer to her in the least. They'll even attack her if she is feeling down on herself! But they're useful - they come from a part of her mind that sniffs the wind and feels the vibrations in the ground - they give her a kind of early warning system to detect when something's wrong, and protect her when she's afraid or hurt, sometimes.
---Ectoplasmic Creation (wood, fabric): With her understanding she can bind the ectoplasm her mind creates into useful wooden or cloth objects. Her most obvious application is when she makes her super suit! But she could do other things - currently, she can produce up to a cubic foot of matter at a time, and if she's touching it, it can last for hours. If she's not it'll last for about ten minutes, but even so! Thats a free ladder, a good size length of rope, a stick to fend off a beastie! And more! The stuff she makes looks like its made of translucent/transparent pink plastic or some other synthetic fiber... but its always pink, unless there's paint involved.
---Create Sound: By making her ectoplasm vibrate, Kalea can produce sounds from her mind. Music, voices, you name it - she can even store sounds in ectoplasm if she can get ahold of a place to store it! Incidentally, this makes air guitar so much cooler.
---Gooey stuff - Sticky or slick!: She can create and project patches of ectoplasm, and gear it towards being sticky or slippery. Hooooow sticky or slippery? REALLY REALLY! Sticky enough to gunk up a machine or make a big man stick to a wall like a bug on flypaper! Slippery enough to let her skate about or make a truck unable to get any kind of traction whatsoever! Only lasts a couple seconds, as long as she maintains it... but hey!

Main/Important Equipment
HER MASK: ZOMFG is this ever important to her. Her powers WONT WORK without her mask! Its not magical, made of SUPER MATERIAL X, or even remotely valuable - its just a pretty metal mask.
Kalea Suit!: She uses her powers to make her suit - it'll stop a handgun or a knife just fine, and its hella-comfy and flexible, seeing as how its made from structured ectoplasm. She can make it sticky or slippery with her powers, harden it and soften it freely, and store a couple bits and baubles in it. The mask is the hard part - once she has her mask on, the suit follows easily as a manifestation of her psychic powers.
Does her Nan count? Probably not. But Nanny knows her charge - she keeps at least two sketchbooks, a harmonica, some silly putty, an mp3 player (with over-ear headphones), and snacks on her person at all times, and when supporting Kalea, a radio and a bag of... implements, as well. Nan owns a work cellphone and a fancy Volkswagen minivan... retrofit with bulletproof glass and armor plating. Her cane has an extending spike on the end and is made of lightweight fiber alloy. She has a collection of firepower in hidden compartments accessed via keypad within or without - a mobile armory, in fact, and she's rarely out and about without a sawed-off shotgun in her away bag. Think all those vests and stern-cut black dresses aren't bulletproof? You're nuts. Don't mess with Nan.
Weaknesses
Psychological Flaws...
Megan's condition is debilitating - she barely functions. Having the mask but not wearing it isn't bad - we all need a day off or to sleep sometimes, but if she were to lose it, or if it got destroyed, it would devastate her quite apart from other more pressing concerns. With every likelyhood, she would decline in health and go into a downward spiral... until she made another.
Captivity with no means to express her overwrought imagination would be the quick death of her. She would simply shut down.
Megan barely speaks - she more usually makes nonverbal noises and gestures to express her wants and desires. When she does, its slurred and difficult to understand. Kalea still prefers to gesture, but she speaks well.
Megan is nearly deaf and numb to her surroundings when she is focused on something, be it making music, drawing pictures, writing, or whatever. Kalea is focused and attentive.
Megan can't stand sudden loud voices or people getting into her face - she panics and flies into frantic rages in some circumstances. Kalea still has this problem, but to a lesser degree - she simply doesn't like it.
Megan does NOT like to be touched. At all. Even Nan can barely touch her, and then only when necessary. On a good day, she'll just shirk from the touch and whine, but she's been known to bite and slap, too - best just not to touch her unless she starts it. Kalea can handle it, but she still isn't a 'touchy-feely' kind of person.
Physical Flaws...
Megan has no coordination without her mask, and she can't keep up her suit without it either. She's a mere mortal, and pretty much helpless. If she got mad enough she might be able to do some damage by flailing and pulling, but it wouldn't be coordinated - equivalent to an angry cat scratching your arms.
Other Flaws...
Her powers won't work without her mask. Period. Even if its powers are purely psychological, they are tangible - they are real. It literally is cause and effect.
She is already influenced heavily by a mask. What if she was made to wear something terrible?

History....
Megan was born to the businesswoman Ariel Alcova, sired out of wedlock by her father, James McMullen, a wealthy inheritor of his the family shipping business. Some of it was off the books, perhaps even mob - the McMullens have always been a name in the mob gunrunning business, but it isn't clear what gave Megan her condition. It is probably through her family's underworld connections though that a woman like Nanny was hired to care for their daughter. Ariel and James never formally married, but she remains his mistress to this day in favor of his estranged wife, Agatha McMullen.
Megan's condition was discovered early on. Her hand-eye coordination and creative skills developed astoundingly early. She was playing piano concertos and painting beautiful pictures before the age of eight - there was no instrument beyond her, no media too difficult, but still she would not speak, and her health was declining. It was around there that James and Ariel actually gave up trying to raise the girl as their own and hired Nan - they had no idea what to do and... Nan volunteered for the job herself. In the last couple years, Megan broke onto the arts scene - her unique style and prodigal skills have earned her enough of a living that she can afford to live on her own and provide for most of her own needs with the proceeds from her work. Nan has the power of attorney, and has managed Megan's works well, her wages paid by Meg's father.
The move to NYC, into a decent apartment in the inner city, has been a breath of fresh air - On top of that, she lives near a comic shop! Danger Time Comics! She had never read a comic book before she moved to New York... but when she did, she suddenly knew... exactly what she wanted to do with her life. There really isn't much to it - she just... suddenly, for two days, worked on a mask - her own mask, in the image of what her ideal heroine would be. She put so much of herself into it, worked so hard on it, that in her mind, it sort of... became special.
The fateful day she finished it, and tried it on changed her life. Nobody could have known this would happen, but she's spent the last five months learning to use her powers, training the body she's merely lived in for the vast majority of her life, and of course reading every comic book she could get her hands on - a not insignificant collection totaling to over four thousand volumes - whole wall-sized bookcases full. Now, she is at last ready in her Nan's eyes - her powers are mature enough to be helpful now, and Kalea wants to go out and use them. In Nan's mind, it gets her charge out in the fresh air and gives her new interest... so all to the better, yes?
