Ah, New York. The Big Apple, The Empire State, The City That Smelt Like Urine. Okay, maybe the last one wasn't about to start showing on the city-approved brochures but that didn't make it inaccurate. Bayonetta carefully stepped around a puddle that she didn't want to know the origins of and tutted to herself. She'd spent enough time at that pit Rodin called a bar to not be particularly offended by the smells of a big city but that didn't mean she had to like them.
Tracing the metal work on Sage, sitting in its usual place on her right hip, with a long nail, the Bullet Witch meandered along the street. She kept a careful eye out for Luka or any Angels that might decide to pop up and make her day a little less dull. Strangely, she hadn't had to deal with a horde of Angels for a while and the lack of sudden assaults was making her edgy. At first she considered the peace a nice change from what she usually had to put up with but after a while it started to make her nervous. The Angels were usually happy to pester her day in and day out and the silence made her concerned that they were up to something again.
Well, whatever it was she doubted it would be worse than their last little expedition. With a dismissive noise, Bayonetta pulled a green lollipop from the little bag on her hip which was reserved exclusively for the colourful treats and popped it into her mouth. She had more important things to worry about than those feathery pests, primarily where little Cheshire had gotten to. The man was usually never far from her, always ready to show up and nag her over one thing or another, but he'd been conspicuously absent lately, much like the Angels.
She came to a halt in the middle of the street, a frown pulling her eyebrows downwards. Missing Angels and a missing Cheshire at the same time? She doubted it was a coincidence. "Oh my, what are you up to this time, hmm?" She was talking to herself, of course. She wasn't the type to travel with others unless they insisted and Luka was the only one who bothered to do that. Not that she missed him, that would be absurd. After all, she'd spent enough time telling him to go away. Still, it was oddly quiet without his chatter.
