It wasn't that Oswin didn't think a creepy, mist-shrouded town wasn't exciting. Actually, it presented a hell of a lot of opportunity for adventure and exploration and possible ghost-hunting. Thing is, she usually liked to do that with the Doctor by her side, or at least someone to talk to. Because hey, creepy mist-shrouded towns were...creepy. Like, really creepy. And while Oswin wasn't one to get scared easily, something about this place was really off-putting. And the fact that the Doctor was separated from here, somewhere in this town where she couldn't get to him if something went after him....well. Oswin hoped she'd be able to find him quickly enough.
The beam of her torch just barely pierced the heavy fog that surrounded the entire town of Silent Hill as she strode through it, trying to appear as confident as she normally did. Stuff was less likely to attack someone who looked like they knew what they were doing. It was sort of hard, though, when she could barely see a few feet in front of her. Vague, decrept shadows of rotting buildings were the only things guiding her along empty streets, that and the occasional flickering streetlight.
Maybe if it wasn't so bloody quiet, it'd be a little less freaky. But the only sounds were Oswin's footsteps on the asphalt road and her own breathing, magnified tenfold by the silence. Seemed like the fog was muffling everything, and that was really what made this place disquieting. Oswin didn't like it. She wanted the Doctor to chatter to, to have by her side and make her feel a little more at ease. Bit stupid, really, to be reliant on someone else in this sort of situation, but she couldn't help it. Anyone'd fancy a bit of company somewhere like here. Someone to keep them from going mad, endlessly wandering around this place. Her grip tightened a little on the flashlight she was holding and Oswin briefly glanced around, hoping to maybe catch some hint of the Doctor or the TARDIS.
Didn't really look like there was any, though. Just a lot of fog. Sighing, Oswin continued onwards. Right. Okay, worse came to worse, she could always radio the TARDIS or send out a distress signal or something. If she got lost, there were ways of being found again. Besides, the Doctor wouldn't just leave her, not alone like this. He'd find her somehow. He always did. Or she'd find him, whichever came first. Oswin looked up sharply as a noise suddenly came from down what she could only assume was an alleyway. "Who's there?" Oswin called, pleased with the fearless tone in her voice. No one needed to know this place was creeping her out. Especially not someone who might use that to their advantage.

The last time she'd woken up somewhere with absolutely no idea where she was or how she'd gotten there, well...it hadn't taken her too long to realize she'd ended up in Hell. Literally. This place was likely at least minimally better than that, because most places were, but Ruby still couldn't say she was entirely thrilled about her situation. For one thing - and she'd sensed it immediately - it might not be full of fire and screaming and eternal torture, but there was definitely something off about this little town. Eerily quiet and blanketed by a thick mist that was nearly impossible to see through, it was like something right out of a generic horror movie. Or it would have been, except that the vibe it was giving off didn't feel very generic. It felt...wrong. All of this felt wrong. It made her bristle; made her simultaneously want to hide beneath her vessel's skin and never come out, and flee, find somewhere safer, find someone else to possess.
Which was totally ridiculous. No matter how screwed up this place was, she wasn't about to start acting like a goddamn pansy.
Didn't matter. She'd find a way out of here soon enough, even if it meant stabbing whoever was responsible for bringing her here in the throat - and then she wouldn't have to give any of this a second thought. Trying to brush off her unease, the demon began to make her way through the dimly lit alleyway she'd woken up in. Every little sound had her tensing, ready to throw herself into a fight tooth and nail, if need be. Fortunately, that likely wouldn't be necessary - seeing as she was armed. The long, jagged demon knife was sheathed at her side, probably not a typical accessory of a girl who looked like she could still be a college student - but it wasn't as if anyone was around to see her anyway. In the bag slung over her shoulder were a few other items - namely rock salt and holy water, but she was hoping those wouldn't be needed. Really, it was a good thing she traveled so often. Carrying around her possessions with her made waking up in bewildering new places pretty convenient.
But all of that was put to the back of her mind when she reached the opening of the alley. She couldn't see much in the thick fog, but there was what looked like a faint beam of light just ahead - and the sound of footsteps that had just stopped. Ruby tensed instinctively, her eyes narrowing and her hand instantly falling to the hilt of the knife. But then the stranger called out. She sounded prickly and defiant, but Ruby suspected there might be a twinge of fear underneath all that bravery - there usually was with humans, assuming that was what this girl was. But, more importantly than all of that, she sounded just as wary and suspicious as Ruby was feeling. Whoever she was, she wasn't exactly at home here either.
Removing her hand from her knife, she considered for only a moment before responding. Harmless. She could do harmless. Or at least, relatively harmless, for a demon - and there was certainly no need to even divulge that little piece of information in the first place. Having someone else around could be useful, at least for a little while - Ruby didn't like having to depend on anyone else, but she wasn't stupid, either. She was in a place she currently knew nothing about. That was more likely to change is she wasn't alone. ...That, and the girl had a flashlight. Which was enough to file her under 'useful ally' on its own right now. Moving forward a bit so she could at least see the stranger somewhat through the fog, she lifted her hands a bit in a reassuring display. "Sorry. Wasn't trying to sneak up on you - this place is enough of a creepshow without anyone pulling that kind of crap." She glanced around briefly, and then her gaze settled back on the human. Ruby looked her up and down briefly before dryly asking her next question. "Don't suppose you know the way out of here?"
