resists making a wayward vagabond reference
or a carry on, my wayward son reference
SO GUYS in the Caster Chronicles universe, there are these things called Waywards, and I think their concept is rly cool. They were once thought to be pretty rare (though later that's revealed to be because most of them were being killed off by Angelus), and also are typically Mortal - but here, considering it's a panfandom rp, I'd be cool with just about any species.
Basically, a Wayward is someone who has a strong link to a specific Caster - though neither the Caster nor the Wayward realizes it at first. In Marian's words, they "guide Casters along a path they are destined to take, a path they might not otherwise find on their own". They also "bridge the world between Casters and Mortals", and have some faint talent for Kelting and performing certain spells, unlike non-Casters. Waywards, however, are not all-knowing spirit guides. They can be normal people with no idea who or what they are. For example, Ethan is Lena's Wayward - he guides her into making the decision of her Claiming, without really even realizing what he's doing.
So all this rambling sort of leads into this: I've mentioned before that in board!canon, I've wanted Sarafine's development to ultimately at least somewhat follow the ICC's. And that, in order for this to happen, she'd need to eventually develop bonds with some people. I think an even more awesome way to do this would be for her to find her own Wayward - someone who she undeniably connects to, and who can sort of guide her away from the complete, utter darkness she's tumbled into.
I CAN POST MORE COHERENT INFORMATION if anyone wants it, but I dunno if anyone would even be interested in something like this? The bond between a Caster and Wayward is...I dunno how to explain it; almost moirail-y (despite the fact that Ethan and Lena were romantically involved; the Wayward/Caster thing is traditionally more platonic and revolves around the idea that they 'complete' each other in a sense that means helping each other realize their full potential). I just thought it'd be a really creative way of doing the plot things I want to accomplish, and also a pretty fun thing to explore. So yeah. Totally open to any ideas, if anyone likes this.
