Basic Details
Age: Many millenia
Species: Asgardian/Jotun
Physical Appearance: Naturally, Hela stands at a rather formidable seven feet even, and despite the slender look of her frame, weighs roughly 500 pounds. Suffice to say, that is due in no small part to the fact that Asgardians are much more resilient, and even physically denser than mortals. However, when dealing in Midgard, she chooses to...make herself appear quite a bit less outstanding, instead standing at 5'11", still putting her a few inches above most mortal women.
Her hair in her chosen form is dark, nearly pitch black, and her skin as pale as death -- for good reason, as there is no true sunlight in Hel -- but the feature of hers that's the most striking of hers (and often the most unnerving) are her eyes, which are an unnatural golden hue.
Personality:
Hela is an incredibly complex individual emotionally. It takes a special sort of personality to rule over the realms of the dead, and in many ways, she can be considered a living contradiction. She has a very polarizing personality, able to swing between extremes with little to no provocation. She's also changed vastly over her long lifetime.
• The early days -- When she fist came into possession of the realms of Hel and Niffleheim, she was still quite young, having only just reached maturity, and as such, she was still quite soft, gentle and merciful. She showed many souls that came to her for judgement kindness, giving them far more lenient fates than many of them deserved.
• Things change -- It only took one attempted uprising from those souls she had shown pity, however, for the mercy she had shown to become rage, the kindness cruelty. For hundreds of years, she took to using extreme measures of punishment for any and all souls that came into her possession, barely even bothering to look into their hearts before doling out her judgement. Even the souls of the innocent -- those who were simply not great enough to have been claimed by the Valkyries -- were subject to her twisted cruelty. For centuries she ruled her realms with an iron fist and a cold heart, even going so far as to learn to enjoy the horrific tortures she inflicted upon the souls.
• Time brings wisdom -- Eventually, though it took several hundreds of years, Hela began to see the error of her ways, and slowly learned to temper her cruelty with mercy...to afford each soul a proper judgement, and fitting punishment. In a sense, she had gained a bit of distance and wisdom, her rage at the uprising finally beginning to fade away. That wasn't to say, however, that she didn't still gain pleasure from the tortures she inflicted upon the souls in her charge. Oh no. She still took a twisted delight in doling out many punishments personally, rather than delegating, and became incredibly refined in the arts of both physical and mental torture. Each soul was given a punishment fitted uniquely to them...she could see into the depths of their souls, and so knew exactly what the best way to break them would be.
• Betrayal and Bitterness -- Originally, she was incredibly reluctant and bitter about her supposedly prophesied role as the ruler of Hel and Niffleheim, and much of that bitterness was turned inwards and towards fate itself. She hadn't wanted to be banished to the dark, cold realms below the roots of the Tree of Life, but as she saw it, there was nothing that could have been done. No way to subvert fate. But eventually, she learned that her place in Hel had never been prophesied. The true prophecy, and the reason she had been in essence cast out, and banished from Asgard to the realms of the dead, was because the Norns had warned Odin Allfather that she would become a great threat. From then on, a dark hatred of the Allfather raged within her, becoming one of her defining characteristics.
• Obsession -- Time has done nothing to lessen her bitterness and rage over what she sees as the Allfather's betrayal. In fact, if anything, it has only become more intense as the centuries have worn on. Desperately seeking a means of taking revenge, Hela also became obsessed with power, and gaining more of it. It took many years for this newfound obsession to fade into a dull roar, but the hatred behind it still remains.
• Manipulative and deceitful -- it didn't take long into her reign over Hel and Niffleheim for Hela to become a master of lies and deceit. She is virtually unreadable, preferring to put on masks to disguise what she's truly thinking, and it's nearly impossible to discern when she's lying, or being truthful. Manipulation has become second nature to her over the years, as easy as breathing, and deceit right along with it. After all, it's far easier to get what you want from someone with honeyed words and a sweet smile than it is with coldness and cruelty...though there's always time for those after you get what you want.
• Cold and detached -- Being thrust into a position as the Goddess of Death is far from easy. It was actually fairly traumatic. But over time, it proved to be a necessity for Hela -- the once kind, curious young girl -- to harden her heart. She became cold and aloof, uncaring and cruel. In order to truly fulfill her position, however, she had to re-learn mercy...though that doesn't mean she's any less closed off. Any kindness you see from her is more likely than not a hollow act.
• Secrets, secrets -- Deep down, underneath all the centuries of warping, and all the walls of ice and darkness she's used to shroud her heart, Hela does still have emotions. Looking back on her past actions, she will from time to time, feel genuine regret and remorse... and it's not impossible for her to be moved to mercy, or even respect, as much as she may wish it were the case.
• Introverted and...lonely? -- there was a time when Hela wanted nothing more than to return to Asgard. To live once more with the people she had grown up with, whom she had called her friends. When she was nothing but overjoyed when she was invited to Asgard to share in a feast, or celebration... That desire, however, faded with time. The longer she spent disconnected, it seemed, the more peoples' opinions of her began to change. She saw the people who had once embraced her cringe away from her touch, hide their eyes from her gaze... she became bitter, and reclusive, eventually neglecting to surface to Asgard at all, even when invited. On some level, she misses being loved, and accepted...sometimes even mourns the life she could have had. As it is, she believes herself too far gone to ever have a life like that again.

Powers & Abilities
• Magic/Sorcery - Hela is an incredibly skilled sorceress, virtually unmatched in terms of both skill and sheer power. Within her own realm her power is virtually absolute...but in other areas of the Nine Realms, it is severely reduced, though still quite formidable. Among the abilities she retains are: levitation, teleportation, the casting of spells and illusions, stealing life-force, dreamwalking, energy manipulation, casting of illusions, and astral projection.
• Shapeshifting - one of her favorite, yet much lesser known abilities, Hela possess the ability to alter her physical form in any way she desires, from things as simple as changing something as small and insignificant as the color and style of her hair, to taking on entirely different forms.
• Power over life and death - as a goddess of death, Hela has almost absolute power over life and death. She can kill any living being with a simple touch, though she very rarely claims any souls before their proper time. Even beings as powerful as Asgardians are not immune to her Touch of Death. On the flip side, however, she can also restore anyone to life...provided their souls have not moved on to any afterlife but her own.
• Necromancy and dominion over souls - Through the years she spent as ruler of Hel and Niffleheim, Hela has become a skilled necromancer, aside from her power over life and death. She can summon souls from her realms, though the souls still retain all of their free will, and to control them, she has to resort to deals and trickery. She also has the ability to raise the soulless dead...mindless corpses under her command.
• Draining//restoring life-force -- Similar to her touch of death and powers of resurrection, Hela is capable of both draining and restoring life on smaller scales. Both require physical contact (maintained physical contact) which makes this the most easily avoidable of her abilities. Break contact with her, and the effect is also broken.
• Slow death -- via either maintained physical contact or projectile bolts of pure energy, Hela can cause individuals to age at varied rates, even to the point of death.
• Theft of souls -- A rare ability for her to make use of, but a useful one nonetheless. Hela's natural domain tends to be limited to Asgardians -- those who aren't claimed by the Valkyries, at least. That being said, Hela is capable of stealing the souls of anyone she kills, and taking them to Hel. She can also guide souls to Valhalla, but unlike those in Hel and Niffleheim, she has no dominion over them.
• Fist of Glory -- By focusing an immense amount of power into her right hand, she gains this ability...which in essence allows her to kill even gods, and rend even the toughest Asgardian skin.
• Judging the dead -- in order to judge the dead that enter her realm, Hela has the ability to look into individuals' hearts, the very core of their being, and see all their deeds, good and bad, laid bare before her. It's far less effort to use this ability on the dead, but it extends to the living as well.
• Otherworldly allure~? -- most living things tend to have...a morbid fascination with death. In a sense, this extends to Hela as well. She has a bit of a strange aura, and while she has no conscious control over this, weaker-minded people tend to be...drawn to her. In the same way it's almost impossible to look away from a gruesome disaster in progress.
• Extended lifespan -- Like all citizens of Asgard (though this is no longer where Hela resides~), she has a lifespan far beyond that of mortals. She has already lived for several thousands of years, and will -- unless she's killed -- likely live several thousand more.
• Superhuman strength -- Hela is incredibly physically strong, even for an Asgardian. In fact, she's been shown on multiple occasions to be evenly matched with even the mighty god of Thunder himself. She is capable of immense feats of physical strength...though she rarely resorts to such measures unless they're absolutely necessary.
• Enhanced durability -- Hela's entire body is roughly three times as dense as that of a mortal being, which renders her incredibly durable. Things such as mortal weapons, guns and other sorts of firearms included, have very little effect on her, often failing to pierce her tough skin all together.
• Enhanced healing -- even when wounded, Hela can heal from most grievous wounds in a sharply reduced timeframe. Even wounds that should be fatal to mortals will heal quickly. Much like her strength, her healing abilities are superior to many Asgardians'.
• Skilled combatant -- even without use of her magic, Hela is a force to be reckoned with. She's incredibly skilled both with a sword and hand to hand combat, shown to be able to go toe to toe with Thor, and come out in a stalemate.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Main/Important Equipment
Nightsword~ a magical blade of her own craft, Nightsword is no more than a normal blade in anyone else's hand but hers. When Hela wields it, however, it becomes an extension of her own power, a divine mix of fire and ice, its touch so cold that it burns.
Weaknesses
Psychological Flaws...
• Broken and betrayed -- once upon a time, Hela was quite a different person than the cold, cruel goddess of death she became. Though she'll rarely if ever admit it, the wound from her betrayal, slight, and banishment, though old, is still quite raw.
• Spiteful and bitter -- She can often be consumed by her own thoughts and even (rarely) emotions. Her bitterness over being 'betrayed' can often blind her, and make her easy to manipulate if you know the proper things to say. She still harbors a lingering obsession with revenge, and can be distracted, or steered off course and onto this topic with relative ease.
• Disconnected and cold -- She finds it difficult, if not impossible, to genuinely connect with anyone. She's spent so long with only the dead for company that she has, in large part, forgotten how to interact with the living.
• Out of touch and time -- Until recently, it was quite a rare occurrence for Hela to leave her realms. And when she did venture out, it was nearly exclusively to Asgard. Her appearance here marks one of only a handful of occasions upon which she has ventured into Midgard. As such, she finds much of it...puzzling, to say the least.
Physical Flaws...
• Touch of Death -- due to the nature of her position and abilities, her touch is naturally fatal for any mortal being. It takes quite the concentrated effort for her to lessen this ability, though even then prolonged contact with her will leave even the strongest mortals drained, exhausted, and often ill. The effort it takes to make her touch 'safe' is exhausting, both physically and mentally.
• Battered and scarred -- much of the left side of her body (her hand and forearm in particular) is consumed by scars of various sizes and types. Many of them were gained during the forging, and Hela's learning to wield the Nightsword. Her entire left hand is consumed by scarring, leaving it weaker and less dexterous than her right. She often wears an elbow-length glove to hide this fact.
• 2spooky -- as what is, in essence, the living embodiment of death, Hela's very presence tends to make most mortals incredibly uncomfortable, as well as quite a few immortals, especially those who know who and what she is. It's a bit of a knee-jerk reaction for most people, being in the presence of a goddess of Death. Of course, not everyone will react that way to her presence~
Other Flaws...
Fire and Ice -- her magical blade, the Nightsword, is a direct extension of her own power. In essence, for it to be anything more than a regular sword, Hela has to channel her own magic through the blade. The only drawback to this is the fact that it is physically painful to wield. In fact, the scarring that consumes much of her left hand and arm are from when the blade was first forged, and she was learning to wield it. Attempting too much with the blade can cause excruciating pain, and wound her in ways that will never heal.
