Basic Details
Age: Unknown (Appears to be in her mid-thirties)
Species: Unseelie Fae (Dark Fairy)
Physical Appearance:
If there is a single word to describe all that Maleficent projects, that word would be regal. She has a sort of ethereal beauty about her and her perfect posture is taught to royalty. She has delicate features that can turn harsh if you get on her bad side. With flowing blonde tresses flowing down her back, usually held atop her head in an intricate fashion, full lips, and beautiful blue eyes, she manages to turn heads quite easily.
Her attire consists mostly of overly long gowns, dresses, and cloaks that merely accentuate her figure. She is most often clad in black, violet, purple, and red-violet. Her gowns and cloaks often have elaborate designs; one has sleeves and a train that resemble tendrils of fire, while another is adorned with roses of fabric around the neckline and wrist cuffs. On the crest of her head, she wears a crown of sorts, colored in the shades of purple and black, which most closely bears a resemblance to the horns of a demon.
Personality:
Being a Fae, Maleficent does not often care for the plights of humanity. A member of the Unseelie Court, you would think that she would be all for causing mischief and mayhem among the humans; however, most of the time, she cannot bring herself to care enough to do such meager acts of impish delights, believing them to be below her. No, instead she is, normally, content to sit back and watch the human race crumble upon itself.
That is, until you offend her. Maleficent has a very immense amount of pride and can be very easily offended (for example, not getting invited to a grand who-ha for a princess’ birthday). When this happens, Maleficent can become incredibly spiteful and wicked and, being the Mistress of All Evil, that can be quite a bad thing. If she feels she has been wronged, Maleficent is capable of making said wrongdoer’s life a living Hell and will do such without much temptation.
Maleficent does not have many allies, or even many acquaintances that would be courageous enough to attempt an alliance with her. However, if, on the rare chance, that she finds a kinship with another, she can be quite endearing towards them. She’ll be more lax towards them and may even let some misgivings slide. In fact, though considered one of the most Evil beings in existence, Maleficent is not completely heartless. She does, indeed, make friends, though it is rare, and she even forms bonds of love as well.
All in all, Maleficent is a dark and spiteful creature, but not entirely beyond the capability of love. If you cross her, she will strike you down without a second thought, but if you become a friend, she can be a most powerful ally.

Powers & Abilities
Elemental Magic – Being a powerful dark fairy, Maleficent has a great control over a variety of natural elements. Through study and practice, she has mastered some of the more unconventional elements that few dare to tamper with.
- Lightning – able to conjure it directly from the orb of her staff or call upon a storm and direct the lightning it creates, Maleficent is quite adept at the forces of thunder and lightning.
- Green Fire – probably one of her specialties, Maleficent is able to conjure and control fire. However, this isn’t your ordinary flame; green fire is a powerful and destructive force. Able to both burn anything and nothing; the fire follows its master’s whim.
Teleportation – Be it by green fire or a green or purple haze, Maleficent is able to transport herself across vast distances. She is also able to take a second party with her; though she can usually only do this by manipulating her Green Fire and not with her Haze.
Telekinesis Maleficent is able to remotely move objects, or even people, across distances and with great force, as well. She can slam a person into a wall or lightly lift a feather into the air. Of course, the larger the object, the more concentration it will require and will be much more taxing. However, she seems to have no trouble knocking a prince quite a long distance with just the flick of her wrist.
Spellweaving/Spellcasting – Being a Fae, Maleficent is quite adept at casting spells. As she is a creature of pure magic, she is even capable of crafting her own, personal, spells. Just some of these include:
- The Curse of Thorns: Be it a wall, tomb, or barrier of thorns, this Curse summons black thorns to do the caster’s bidding. This Curse requires a target, a place, and a command to be stated in the casting in order for it to work properly.
- The Sleeping Curse: This Curse puts the victim under such a deep sleep that they are often mistaken for dead. Their heart comes to an almost complete stop and they have no visible signs of breath. An object is required to hold the Curse and so that the victim may interact with the item and trigger it.
- (More to come over the course of character progression)
Polymorph – Maleficent has the ability to freely alter her physical form as she chooses. She is able to take three different forms:
- Whirling Cosmos: Maleficent can transform herself into what looks to be a spinning galaxy of green, purple, and gold energy. Utilizing this, she is able to travel at an alarming speed, easily traveling from her Dark Fortress to Aurora’s castle within mere seconds. Due it its speed, however, it can be very difficult to control and cannot make sharp turns.
- Dragon: Maleficent has the power to turn into a ferocious, firebreathing dragon from the darkest reaches of the human imagination. In this form, she breathes a much more potent form of her Green Fire and holds incredible strength, in adition to the ability of flight. However, in this form, she cannot summon Lightning or cast spells of any kind. She usually holds this trump card as a last resort, or if someone is specifically searching for the “Beast of the Dark Fortress.”
- Fairy: Using Fae magic, Maleficent is able to transform her appearance to that of a small, orb of green mist that is no bigger than your hand.
Magical Ward – Maleficent has the ability to conjure an almost completely invisible Ward to protect herself against both physical and magical assault. The only way to tell if it is there is a slight distortion in the air.
Evil Incarnate – You can’t destroy the Darkness, you can defeat it, but it will never go away; same thing with Evil, itself. And, being the Mistress of All Evil, the same thing pretty much goes for Maleficent. You can kill her, defeat her, whatever time and again, but she’ll never be gone for good. She can’t ultimately die or be destroyed. However, you can kill her... temporarily and it usually takes her a while to come back.

Main/Important Equipment
Staff of the Unseelie: Maleficent’s staff is a relic of Dark energy and is a channeling conduit for most of her spells. It never leaves her side and Maleficent uses it frequently. Adorned at its apex is a crystal orb that often glows green with her magic and power.
Black Unicorn: After Diablo, her pet raven’s demise, Maleficent was quite heartbroken. Thankfully she has newfound love for a very special black unicorn. It’s still a foal for the moment, but it will soon grow to be a magnificent and dark steed.
Weaknesses
Psychological Flaws...
”I, too, shall bestow a gift upon the child...” – When angered or offended, Maleficent can become quite vengeful. She has such single-minded ferocity in exacting revenge on her wrongdoers, that she strikes fear, not only in her victim, but those allied with them as well (as evident when King Stefan burned all of the spinning wheels in the kingdom and his subjects complied without complaint). However, because of this, she can loose focus on everything else going on around her and can lose insight on her actions.
Physical Flaws...
The Light! It burns us!! – Being a creature of such vast Darkness, Maleficent is incredible susceptible to the Light. Now, we’re not talking about her walking into the sun and bursting into flames. Maleficent’s weakness is Elemental Light, the magic of good fairies, or Seelie Fae. Just a single sowrd, enchanted with Light from the three Good Fairies, was able to fell her, even in dragon form!
”All magic comes with a price~!” – Even a Fae as powerful as Maleficent can find casting too many spells over a short period of time pretty taxing. Plus, that dragon form wears her out, severely. After transforming into a dragon, she usually has to rest for a couple days without doing much else.
Fae's Greatest Weakness – The Fae once ruled the earth; but now, they exist in a world of their own design. They have become so disconnected from this world that they have developed a very specific weakness. Iron. Pure, iron ore is poisonous to Fae. Its very touch burns and sears their skin. It can't kill them (unless, of course, you buried them in it), but it ca severely harm and weaken them.
Other Flaws...
True Love’s Kiss – Ya, annoying, isn’t it? Though, this mainly really only happens with fatal spells like The Sleeping Curse (the Curse of Thorns, all you really gotta do is cut them down). However, since all Curses must have the capability of being broken, this is quite a doozy. Luckily, in a world like this, True Love isn’t often found easily (though, apparently, it doesn’t have to specifically be romantic love, as proven by Regina’s failurematernal love lolwut).
Even Evil Can Love – Yes, even Maleficent, the Mistress of All Evil, can love something. It used to be her raven, Diablo, however now she’s found a certain black unicorn after Diablo’s demise. If you threaten her pet, it can become fairly easy to get the jump on her.

History....
fairytaleland
Maleficent was once a powerful queen of the Unseelie Court. Her might knew no bounds and the Unseelie ran rampant under her rule. She had all but demolished the Seelie Court and her power only grew and grew. However, even her own underlings began to fear her power. The Seelie and Unseelie Courts united together to banish her from the world of Faerie forevermore. Afterwards, Maleficent built a castle she deemed her Dark Fortress and became a recluse within its halls. She had managed to retain some hold over lesser, Goblin Fae that would do her bidding and they guarded her Fortress loyally.
Not long after, Maleficent heard word of a princess being born to King Stefan and a magnificent celebration being thrown in the newborn’s honor. Outraged at not receiving an invitation to such a glorious celebration of a great birth, Maleficent arrived at the castle of Stefan and his wife. She put on a show, acting as if her invitation had been “lost” by some means or another. It was then that one of the Good Fairies informed her that she hadn’t been invited at all. Maleficent pretended to forgive them and began to excuse herself. Upon being asked whether or not she was upset at this, Maleficent reassured them all that she wasn’t upset and that she would give her own gift to the child.
However, her’s was not a gift, but a terrible Curse. She predicted that little Aurora, on her sixteenth birthday, would prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and perish. As King Stefan ordered his guards to capture her, Maleficent left in a flash of green fire and haze with a wicked laugh echoing throughout the chamber. However, due to the last Fairys gift, her Curse would not kill the girl, merely put her into a deep slumber. And so, as Maleficent crafted her curse, it was weakened slightly so that True Love’s kiss would break the spell.
Maleficent soon found that Aurora was missing, the three Good Fairies having spirited her away. This did not stop her, though. For on her sixteenth birthday, Aurora returned to Stefn’s castle to take her rightful place as princess. Maleficent tricked Aurora and led her to a hidden passage within the castle, where Maleficent had placed a spinning wheel enchanted with her curse. As Aurora pricked her finger on the spindle, she collapsed, seemingly dead. Victorious, Maleficent left the castle to make preparations to assure her victory.
Arriving at the small hut Aurora had resided in for sixteen years under the name of Briar Rose, Maleficent set a trap for young Prince Phillip. She captured the prince and sentenced him to her dungeon where she intended to keep him for many decades. However, the three Good Fairies discovered her plan and freed Phillip. As he raced to Stefan’s castle, Maleficent did all she could to prevent his arrival. As he escaped her Fortress and cut through her wall of thorns, Maleficent had decided she’d had enough. Whisking herself to the bridge of the castle before Phillip, she challenged Phillip to fight her, herself, “and all the powers of Hell!” Trsnforming into a ferocious dragon, she backed Phillip onto a cliff. As she was about to finish him off, the Good Fairies enchanted his sword with Light and he through the weapon. It struck home, and Maleficent fell, screaming, off the cliff. All that was left was her black-and-purple garments.
After the spell was broken, Maleficent, feeling there was nothing else that could be done, decided to return to her Dark Fortress and leave Aurora to her life. Years after the events of her revenge on Aurora, Maleficent was visited by Prince James, or Prince charming as he’s more popularly known. He demanded that she take him to the Beast of the Dark Fortress and she revealed to him that he had, indeed, found the beast. She, once again, assumed her draconic form and fought the prince. He completed his task of placing the golden egg containing Rumpelstiltskin’s True Love potion within her and escaped, much to Maleficent’s ire.
Soon after, Maleficent and The Evil Queen met and discussed a trade. Regina wanted Maleficent’s Sleeping Curse and Maleficent, after seeing the wicked Dark Curse, agreed to give it to her in return for the Dark Curse. With Regina’s compliance, the trade was final. Maleficent, knowing full well what Darkness was held within the world, knew immediately that the Dark Curse should never be enacted for any reason. And so, she locked it away, inside the orb of her staff.
Regina eventually came back for the Dark Curse. Maleficent tried to convince Regina to move on, but failed in her efforts. As Regina demanded she return the Curse, Maleficent knew she would be forced to fight one of her only friends. The two fought and, targeting Maleficent’s unicorn, Regina managed to gain the upper hand and trppaed Maleficent against the wall, bound by a chandelier. Melficent tried to sway Regina from using the Dark Curse, revealing how Dark it truly was, and told her that if she enacted it, the Curse would leave a whole in her heart that she would never be able to fill. The Evil Queen did not listen.
And so, Maleficent prepared for that moment when the Dark Curse would be cast; however, she could not prepare for the role the Evil Queen would give her.
storybrooke
Trapped, for twenty-eight years, in a cave beneath the closed library/clock tower, Maleficent waited a brooded. It wasn’t until some time after Emma Swan had come to Storybrooke that Maleficent fully awakened from her slumber-like haze.
Not long after, Emma was sent into the cave by Regina to retrieve Rumpelstiltskin’s True Love potion so that they may use it to revive Henry. Emma conquered Maleficent by using her father’s sword and, in a burst of light, Maleficent vanished. Now, with Emma breaking her draconic curse set by Regina, and Mr. Gold bringing magic to the world, Maleficent is free and just as powerful as she once was, before the Dark Curse.

Maleficent rose angrily from her throne. What was all that racket? Those impudent, brainless morons were causing a migraine-inducing ruckus. The dark Fae groaned in agony as more shouts and clutter resounded through the halls of her Dark Fortress, rubbing her temples in mild irritation. She was beginning to think these goblin Unseelie were more trouble than they were worth. Her cloak billowing behind her, Maleficent stormed up a staircase to one of the parapets or her castle.
Bursting out into the open air, Maleficent's anger could be heard far and wide. "Silence!" Flinging her hands up in an exasperated manner, the Fae turned to her dear companion, Diablo; though something about him seemed off. "You! Tell those fools to--" But, she never finished her command. With a gasp of horror, her hand flying to her mouth in shock, Maleficent realized her precious pet had been turned to stone! "No..." How could her precious Diablo been taken away from her so swiftly? Another gasp escaped her as realization dawned and she looked down to the courtyard below, her claw-like hands grasping the low-rise wall of the parapet. "No!"
It was those damned Good Fairies! They had turned her Diablo to stone and they were helping Prince Phillip to escape. Maleficent's blood boiled at the mere thought of those irksome meddlers. They had always been there to aggravate her, throughout almost her entire existence. Well, she'd had enough of them! Climbing the winding staircase, Maleficent reached the very top of the parapet. Summoning her magic on impulse, a rush of power filled her and the orb of her staff began to glow a sickly green. Thrusting with her staff, Maleficent conjured fierce lightning to assault the Prince and his rescuers. However, no matter how hard she tried, they always managed to be one step ahead of her. Quickly running out of options, Maleficent decided to pull one of her trump cards.
"A forest of thorns shall be his tomb,
Born through the skies on a fog of doom!"
Twirling her staff overhead, Maleficent began her Curse and a black, swirling cloud formed above her. It grew and grew as she continued her chant. Flinging the apex of her staff toward her intended target, Maleficent completed her casting.
"Now, go with a Curse and serve me well,
'Round Stefan's castle, cast my spell~!"
The dark cloud above her head made haste to King Stefan's castle, as if blown by the mightiest gust of winds. As it encompassed all that was King Stefan's land, eerie, glowing lightning flashed from the cloud, striking the ground in several places. Wherever the lightning struck, the earth fractured and crumbled away. From out of the pits rose an imposing forest of thick, black thorns. Maleficent chuckled to herself, a hint of madness in the laughter, as Prince Phillip was met by the Curse of Thorns and his path was impeded.
However, much to Maleficent's dismay, Phillip had managed to cut the thorns down and, before she knew it, he was on the other side, once more heading for his True Love. Snarling in abject fury, Maleficent couldn't believe what she was seeing. "No! This cannot be!!" No matter what she threw at them, the prince had managed to best her in every way. Well, no more! She has had enough of these impudent games the Good Fairies insisted on playing.
Maleficent's power surged once more as she raised her staff, as if in salute to all the forces of Evil and Darkness. The Unseelie Queen felt herself dissipate into thousands of infinitesimal particles of Dark Light. The particles collected together, forming a swirling cosmos of pure energy. The spinning galaxy that was Maleficent arced through the air at high speeds, passing over Phillip in mere seconds and landing in front of him.
As the cosmos touched the ground, Green Flames erupted all along the bridge that led to King Stefan's castle. And out of those flames rose the dark and foreboding form of Maleficent. She took a small moment to glare at the prince and then another moment to shoot daggers at each of the Three Good Fairies. Maleficent was done with this; she was the Mistress of All Evil and she would not stand idly by as those moronic bugs destroyed everything in her world. Returning her gaze to Phillip, Maleficent's voice was strong and clear, filled with such menace as to wilt whatever thorns had been spared from all previous assault.
"Now shall you deal with me, O Prince, and all the powers of HELL~!!" All at once, Maleficent became a conduit for her own magic, erupting into a pillar of Green Fire. The dark Fae magic that created the fire rose and rose, high into the sky. Within the flames, Maleficent's silhouette twisted and contorted, as if in pain. However, it was not pain Maleficent felt; far from it.
For, once again, the Unseelie Queen had become the Beast of the Dark Fortress.
