It's hard to say just when Loki began developing his evil tendencies. From early childhood he had a tendency to cause mischief, such as when he sabotaged the creation of Thor's future weapon Mjolnir when they were just children, though that was just harmless mischief for Loki's own amusement. See, even to this day Loki is amused by small things like that. Tricks of the mind, playing with people's emotions... He just can't get enough of it, particularly when dealing with other Asgardians, especially his brother Thor. In their battles, Loki almost always manipulates his brother into believing Loki wants to change, only to stab him in the back. It could be said that Loki relies on trickery, especially in battles with powerhouses like his brother... It is a good thing for him that he's oh so very good at what he does, isn't it?

If Loki had his way, he would be the king of Midgard and Asgard... possibly even all of the other Nine Realms. Loki has a lust for power, not only in the sense of magical skill or strength but being the ruler of things. He was willing to kill countless innocents to get what he wanted, which was ruling Midgard. Loki definitely considers himself superior to everything out there, especially humans. It's safe to say that Loki will take any chance he gets to declare his superiority over the 'inferior race' of humans. He honestly does believe that humans are made to be ruled and that he's doing them some sort of justice by becoming their ruler. He sees them as the destroyers of the realm of Midgard because they were free to do whatever they wanted. Loki seeks to relieve Midgard of it's freedom, thus 'saving it'.

Loki's relationship with his father and brother, Odin and Thor respectively, is... very complicated. He does hate both of them, obviously, but some have speculated that he just wants their attention. The answer would be yes and no. Loki doesn't believe he's doing what he does to gain attention from his father, and to a lesser extent his brother, but the truth would be that he's doing what he does to get attention from everyone, even though he doesn't realize it. Loki believes that he's spent his entire life in his brother's shadow, which is somewhat true, and it's time for him to get some attention.

Loki is a man who is not only bent on revenge but has been lied to his entire life and it's... warped him, in a way. He was once a stoic, but mischievous person with a grudge against his brother... That changed. Nowadays he's dark and wicked, clearly reveling in tormenting others for the fun of it. For all his evil deeds, Loki is still ... for lack of a better tem, human on the inside. He has emotions and it's because of these emotions that he does what he does, not because he has some strange desire to commit evil acts. He's doing all of what he does for a reason, not for fun... for the most part. He might occasionally mess with some Midgardian because he simply feels the need to, but this isn't overly frequent.

Powers & Abilities

Sorcery: Loki is more skilled than the sorceress Karnilla, who was once known as the greatest sorceress in the Nine Realms, in the mystic arts. Loki's most used ability seems to be creating duplicates of himself. He can create an unlimited amount of these duplicates, which can be either solid or transparent, depending on what Loki needs. He is able to teleport away and leave a duplicate in his wake so that he isn't struck by an ability that could potentially destroy him. He is also able to enhance his own powers, like making himself stronger or faster. In one instance he was able to make his strength equal, if not slightly less, than that of the Mighty Thor's. He can also bestow abilities upon others, which is essentially limitless. Loki will likely not make anyone more powerful than he is, unless he is blinded by need to destroy Thor. He can take away his bestowed abilities at any time, but he cannot weaken his foes. Loki also has some telekinetic ability, seeing as he can throw things about a room and even control the movements of others on a limited scale. He can also fire beams of pure magical energy, which have been shown to be harmful to Thor. He can also create ultra-durable force fields around himself, which can be broken only by something with the force of Mjolnir. He is also able to bring inanimate objects to life, such as making a television use it's cords to strangle someone and such things. He is able to bestow mystical abilities upon the items he brings to life. He can also conjure items, such as a throne or a chalice. He can conjure weapons of any sort, except weapons of great power like Mjolnir. Finally, he can teleport to wherever he wants; even other dimensions and realms.

Superhuman Strength: If you ask any average Asgardian about Loki's strength, they will say that his strength is superior to the average Asgardian's. One must remember that Asgardians are all vastly stronger than an average human. While his strength is nothing compared to Thor's, Loki is able to pack quite a punch in battle. Being able to lift about fifty or so tons, Loki is able to effortlessly lift things like cars and other things that most humans would be completely unable to lift. If Loki enhances his strength using magic, he could likely lift an excess of 100 tons, though it does take much effort to get to that level of strength and it only lasts twenty-four hours until wearing off. If Loki were to enhance his strength to that of Thor's, it would likely take him days to recover from the amount of magic used.

Superhuman Stamina: His stamina is average to an Asgardian. This means that he is able to go at peak capacity for exactly twenty-four hours without getting even a bit tired. Even after that he is able to fight, but he does get continually more fatigued as time goes on. Even though, compared to Asgardians, it is very basic stamina, Loki is able to magically enhance his stamina to amazing levels, making himself able to go on for however long the enchantment lasts, which is around twenty-four hours. With magical enhancements, he is able to go for forty-eight hours without any fatigue.

Dense Tissue: As a Jotun-turned-Asgardian, Loki's tissue is about three times as dense as that of a human's, making him several hundred pounds despite looking like a somewhat-scrawny human. This means lifting him is impossible for an average human. It is easy to lift him for people like Thor and the Hulk, unless he increases this magically. Even then, it would take a great deal of effort to make himself too heavy for the Hulk to lift.

Superhuman Durability: His tissue is not only dense, but extremely durable to harm. Bullets and melee weapons, unless they are powerfully enchanted, do nothing but bounce off of him. His durability is normally about equal to the average Asgardian's, but as before he is able to enhance his durability, hence why he can take hits from Thor with little to no damage. It is actually an incredible feat of durability to take the pounding he received from the Hulk without either dying or just exploding into a mass of blood and gore on the first hit. If magically enhanced enough, it is fully possible that he could have taken that with little to no harm, depending on how powerful the magic was.

Regeneration Factor: Loki's regeneration is nothing short of amazing. While most Asgardians are capable of healing small to moderate wounds, Loki has been shown as being able to reattach limbs with ease, even his own head. So, Loki's regenerative abilities allow him to regenerate from anything as long as he is still capable of movement.

Superhuman Longevity: Loki, as an Asgardian, ages at a rate much slower than a human's. In fact, he is likely millenia of years old and yet he has the appearance of a man in his twenties. Unlike some other gods, he is not completely immune to aging, though it will take him thousands of years to look even a bit older. It will be a long time before he dies of old age, if that is what will kill him. He is also immune to all Midgardian diseases and poisons.

Psionics: Loki is able to communicate telepathically with anyone, though it works much better on those with some connection to him. He can also influence the thoughts of others and even directly mind control them, if need be. He can also put others in a hypnotic state, in which he can influence their actions. Loki is able to put a certain spell on other beings that makes his actions their's, such as he once did with the Destroyer, though it is able to operate on it's own.

Shape-shifting: Loki is an advanced shapeshifter, which allows him to transform not only into other human-like creatures, but to transform into any animal he desires. When he takes on the form of another humanoid creature, he only takes on the powers given to their race, not the power of the specific being he takes the form of. For instance, he if were to take on the form of Thor he would not be able to access his brother's abilities. If he were to take on the form of a dragon, he would be able to breathe fire or ice, depending on the type of dragon. He was also able to turn objects into other things, like turning a cloud into a dragon.

Cunning/Trickery: Loki isn't called the God of Trickery for nothing. He is indeed one of the most cunning, intelligent Asgardians out there, if not the most cunning. He was able to trick Thor on many occasions, as well as the Frost Giant leader, and his father, Laufey. Loki is all-together a mastery of trickery and it would not be surprising for him to trick even the smartest of people, if he plays it all out correctly.

Combatant: Loki is a skilled hand-to-hand combatant and makes full use of his super-strength when fighting. As skilled as he is in hand-to-hand combat, he is more skilled with using weapons, usually some sort of staff or sword.

Main/Important Equipment

Scepter: The scepter Loki was given by Thanos is the most used weapon that Loki has. It has the ability to shoot out potentially lethal blasts of energy, which can go from slight sting to incinerating people, power-wise. It is also a good melee weapon and it has a sharp tip that can be disconnected and used as a dagger. Finally, it gives Loki complete control over the army of Chitauri he uses to stage invasions. As long as he has the staff, nobody else can control the Chitauri - not even Thanos himself.

Norn Stones: Artifacts stolen from Asgard, they are powerful stones that grant the user's desire, as long as it isn't too insane. Loki could be granted amazing strength by the stones, but they will not grant him rule over a Realm or anything along those lines that would affect the world in an enormous way. However, the Loki has some control over what the stones do: they will not grant the user power if Loki doesn't wish them to have it.

Lævateinn: Loki's sword, which was forged by the Master Blacksmith Völundr. Loki, in his raid of powerful Asgardian artifacts during his escape from Asgard, took the sword and occasionally uses it in his battles. The sword can cut straight through any Midgardian metal and can be used to channel Loki's magical abilities.

The Casket of Ancient Winters: The Casket of Ancient Winters contains the Fimbulwinter of Ymir, which means it contains the fury of one thousand killing winters. When used, it froze Heimdall solid and was one of the key factors in destroying the Bifrost Bridge. One only needs to open it to use it's power to freeze practically anything. When using it, Loki reverts to his Jotun-like form.

Knives: Loki's knives are exceedingly normal. They're sharp, can cut through many metals and are able to be thrown and used for close-up combat. However, Loki can enchant the knives to have different abilities, such as giving one a fire enchantment to make it burn through things and so on. Also, a strike from one of Loki's knives was enough to knock back a charging Frost Giant.

Armor: When Loki uses his shapeshifting ability to change his clothes, he has the option of turning his clothes into Asgardian Armor. The armor is strong, but it doesn't do much seeing as Loki is already very durable.

Weaknesses

^{Psychological Flaws...}

"Second Best": Loki's grudge against Thor started at a very young age, evidenced by his meddling with Mjolnir's creation by making the hold smaller than it would usually be. Loki honestly wants nothing more than to be better than Thor and defeat his brother on the battlefield. His desire to defeat his brother often clouds his judgement and ultimately leads to his defeat more often than not.

Power Hungry: To defeat Thor, Loki realized that he needed to get as much power as he possibly could. This was why he raided Asgard and took as many artifacts that he could get his hands on. Loki's newfound desire for power has given his enemies another way to cloud his judgement.

Puny Humans!: Loki underestimates humans so much that he thinks all of them are nothing more than pawns for him to manipulate and rule. In fact, he underestimates humans so greatly that he will hardly put any effort into dealing with them. He simply fired a single bolt from his scepter at the last non-super-powered human who opposed him.

^{Physical Flaws...}

Mortal: Despite being essentially an Asgardian, Loki is still mortal and can be damage and incapacitated. People with magic stronger than his own would be able to defeat him, as well as beings with far superior ability, such as his brother. While harming Loki is quite the difficult task, it can be done and has been done by the Hulk.

Jotun: Not really an exploitable flaw, but when touched by something incredibly cold, Loki's appearance becomes that of a Frost Giant. Loki honestly hates looking like this and will do his best to not touch anything that could trigger this reaction.

^{Other Flaws...}

Thor: Loki's own brother is his arch-enemy and everything Loki does it to eventually defeat Thor. In a battle with Thor, Loki is likely to pull out all stops and use everything he has to defeat Thor. This will likely lead to Loki needing to rest for days, even if he does win. It takes great effort to defeat Thor and usually he cannot defeat his brother.

Odin: Loki used to do everything to please Odin and try to be the better son in his father's eyes. After he realized that he just couldn't please Odin he completely gave up and sank into hating his father and wanting to claim Asgard for himself. If given the chance, Loki would certainly kill Odin.

The Avengers: Oh, Loki hates these guys! They ruined his plan and humiliated him by chaining him up and forcing him to go back to Asgard. Loki despises all of the Avengers' members and would jump at the chance to get revenge against every single one of them.

History....

During a time when the Jotuns (Frost Giants of Jotunheim) and Aesir (Gods of Asgard) were at war, Laufey, the king of the Frost Giants, had one son. His son happened to be a runt among the Frost Giants and was all but abandoned at infancy out of Laufey's shame. However, when the final battle between Odin and Laufey ended with Odin triumphant, the king of Asgard found one small, abandoned child. Odin saw in this child a way to unite the kingdoms as well as another son, a brother and companion for his other son Thor. Odin took the child in and gave him a name; Loki Odinson.

In Loki's early childhood his brother, Thor, was the favored son of Odin. Many a time would Thor do some heroic feat only for Loki to be forgotten about. However, he dabbled in magic and used his magic to sabotage his brother's fated weapon the hammer Mjolnir to make it's hilt smaller. Loki generally played pranks on his brother and even his parents as a child, much of the time getting away with it. The few times he was caught he was able to worm out of it with his developing wit. Though Loki was a trickster, he was also jealous of his brother for supposedly being Odin's favorite. Loki's grudge did nothing but grow larger over the years until the day of Thor's coronation as King of Asgard when he finally snapped and decided to be rid of Thor.

Loki made a deal with Asgard's old foes, the Frost Giants, that said he would allow them into Asgard to regain their stolen artifact, the Casket of Ancient Winters, as long as they would follow his orders. It was all a plan to get Thor banished, as Loki assumed Thor would react with violence at the Frost Giant invasion. All went as planned and not only was Thor's coronation interrupted, but Thor brought Loki, Sif and the Warriors Three to Jotunheim to do battle with the Frost Giants, which was part of Loki's plan. In the end, Odin rescued the group and banished Thor for breaking the peace treaty between Asgard and Jotunheim. Loki's plan had worked and he was rid of Thor...

But, jut as his plan came to fruition, Loki learned a horrible secret of Odin's. Loki learned that he was actually the son of Laufey, the Frost Giant King. Loki sort of freaked out on Odin, who was so stressed from his son's banishment and Loki's discovery that he fell into the Odinsleep, an annual sleep in which Odin regains his power. At that very moment, Loki again started to plan. His first course of action was gaining the throne of Asgard. His second, travelling to Jotunheim and giving Laufey an offer to kill Odin and regain the Casket of Ancient Winters. Laufey, of course, accepted.

When Loki returned, he was met with the Warriors Three and Lady Sif, who requested to end Thor's banishment. Loki strictly declined, stating that he could not put an end to Odin's last decree. The Warrior's Three, upset with Loki's decision, went to Midgard, where Thor was banished in an attempt to bring him back. Loki sent the main guardian of Asgard, the Destroyer, to defeat Thor. When facing the Destroyer, the Warriors Three were defeated, as was Lady Sif. Thor stood no chance and was defeated in a second. But, due to having moment of self sacrifice, Thor's banishment was taken away and he regained his power.

Thor felled the Destroyer in one blow and traveled to Asgard, where Laufey and a group of Frost Giants were heading towards Odin's chambers. Once they reached the chamber, Loki killed Laufey and the frost giants, becoming Asgard's hero. However, Thor returned right at that moment and revealed what Loki had done. Loki, now enraged, seemed to just... snap and began to initiate his ultimate plan; using the Bifrost Bridge to destroy Jotunheim. Thor stopped him and defeated him in battle. Thor also stopped the destruction of Jotunheim by destroying the Bifrost.

Odin suddenly awoke and traveled to the remains of the Bridge, where Loki and Thor were battling. The two fell off, but caught onto a ledge, leaving them dangling. Odin praised Thor for his heroism, but Loki was scolded. Loki then realized that he could never impress Odin, gave his 'father' a smirk and let go of the spear he was holding onto, casting himself into the void.

Loki drifted for months before being found by a being known only as Thanos. Thanos gave Loki his sceptre and gave him a purpose... the purpose of conquering Midgard. Loki accepted and traveled to Midgard, where he was to use the powerful Tesseract to create a portal to the dimension where Thanos' Chitauri army is. Loki first encountered SHIELD and gained an ally in the form of a possessed Clint Barton, also known as Hawkeye. Because of Loki's threat, Nick Fury activated the Avengers Initiative, which was something he had been building for a long while. It consisted of Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff and Bruce Banner.

Loki's next move was to gain iridium so that they could stabilize the Tesseract' power. To do this, Loki caused a distraction in Germany while Clint stole the iridium. Loki was confronted by Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, and seemed to be winning until Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, came along and lent his aid. Loki intended to be kidnapped, so he surrendered. While they were bringing Loki back to the SHIELD base, Thor appeared on the scene and attempted to bring Loki back to Asgard. He was unsuccessful, but he did become a part of the Avengers.

In SHIELD's helicarrier base, Loki was imprisoned while Bruce Banner and Tony Stark looked for the Tesseract. While the team was fighting among themselves, Loki used his control over Clint to escape and awaken the Hulk. He lost control over Clint, but he nearly destroyed the SHIELD helicarrier and Loki almost killed agent Phil Coulson.

Loki, now with iridium to stabilize the Tesseract, opened a portal over New York, which unleashed an army of Chitauri aliens. Loki, believing himself successful, fought off Thor and watched as his Chitauri overtook New York. Finally, he was defeated by the Hulk, who rather easily beat him down. The Avengers then deactivated his portal and Loki was taken back to Asgard. But, Loki was intelligent enough to easily escape from Asgard. During his escape, Loki raided Asgard for artifacts and took several powerful things, including a new version of the Destroyer...
