"Is she alright...?"
"Not from around here - dressed kinda funny - "
"Hurry up, check for a pulse."
She only caught snatches of the conversation between the two people towering over her - but though Katherine felt her unease growing, she did not stir. Her eyelashes didn't even flutter, even as she lay there, wondering where she was, how she'd gotten there, and...when had she passed out? Something was very wrong here, and she was trying to process it all far too quickly, and she couldn't remember the last time she'd eaten anything - so when a hand reached down and felt her neck for a pulse, she stopped thinking and reacted on instinct.
In an instant, she'd sprung upward, grabbing the man by the arm and pulling him down onto her, then rolling them around so she had him pinned to the ground below her. His shout was cut off as she sunk her fangs into his throat. Not the slow, seductive sucking of a teen vampire movie - she was half-starved, and this was feral. She tore his throat out in a matter of seconds, and drained him of most of his blood only shortly after. As she felt her strength returning to her, she became distinctly more aware of her surroundings. And the fact that her victim had a friend. She hadn't planned the first murder out; hadn't done it out of any malicious feelings towards the man - he'd gotten too close, taken her by surprise, and she'd reacted on instinct. But now...she had a witness. Now she was going to have to kill deliberately.
Not that she had much of a problem with that.
The other man had backed away in terror, had already started to run - but Katherine was faster. She leaped to her feet and tore after him, pulling him to her and tearing into his neck as well - and then, quite suddenly, she became aware of a very sharp pain in her left arm. Startled, Katherine let the man drop - he was weakened, but she hadn't had nearly enough time to kill him yet - and whirled around to discern what had happened. Just ahead of her, a wooden stake lay on the ground. ...Someone had thrown it at her, and it had just missed her back, grazing her arm instead. She scowled over at the culprits, who were still some ways away. They were a gang of...what looked like teenagers, all charging towards her, armed with more stakes.
Ordinarily, Katherine's pride might have demanded she stay and fight. But she was bewildered. What sort of place was this, where vampire hunters were so seemingly common, and prepared to fight against her kind at a moment's notice? She took a quick look around her surroundings - a cemetery, it seemed - and, still slightly disoriented, made a split decision. She turned and ran, clearing the rest of the graveyard almost instantly. Perhaps they hadn't expected her to move that fast, because she heard shouts of surprise from behind her, but she paid them no mind. She had to get out of their sight, quickly. But beyond the cemetery was a town, and she couldn't afford to move at inhuman speed there, in case someone else saw her. Forcing herself to slow to a pace that a twenty year old woman might actually take, she hurried down block after block, rounding street corners sharply in an effort to shake her pursuers. She was fairly certain she'd left them far behind her now - but just in case, she needed to seek shelter.
Besides, playing the victim was the ideal opportunity to get some answers around here. She wiped the blood from her face, and then, projecting an air of desperation, she hurried over to the nearest person she could see. "Please - " she gasped, appearing to be out of breath - and terrified. "Please, you have to help me!"

Sunnydale was... interesting, to say the least. Not only was it home to a Slayer, technically the Slayer of this time period, but it was right over a Hellmouth! Or, at least, that was what they called it. The Doctor preferred "dimensional portal"... or he would have if "Hellmouth" didn't sound so cool. Really, though, Sunnydale wasn't exactly a place you would expect a multi-dimensional vampire slayer or a portal to a Hell dimension to be. At least, not on the surface. It looked like a normal town, with normal people doing the normal things people did. The Doctor was almost tempted to participate in said normal things - even that could be fun once in a while! Apparently, some teen band was playing at a "club". That could be pretty fun, but he wouldn't exactly be in place while wearing a bow tie and tweed.
Not that it ever stopped him before.
No, though, that's not what he was there for. While the prospect of "hanging out" was tempting, the Doctor had to deal with something else. Namely, the massive dimensional portal lying underneath the town. While he certainly couldn't close it for good, since it had already grown far too powerful for even him to stop, he could at least bottleneck the amount of demons pouring through. It would be difficult, certainly, to even locate the thing. Still, there had to be some way to find it... which is why the Doctor was wandering the streets of Sunnydale looking for any sort of hint. Maybe he could find the Slayer and ask her where it was. Imagine that - meeting one of the Slayers! We was almost certain he'd done it before, but that was in one of his past regenerations. The only problem with that was... well, he wasn't exactly okay with going around hunting every demon or vampire in sight.
Still, though, the prospect of meeting a Slayer, or even just a vampire, was pretty cool! Though, it became a lot less cool when a woman, who seemed to be covered in splotches of blood, rushed up to him and started asking for his help. "Hold on, calm down!" The Doctor said, the suddenness of this situation making him a tad frantic. "What happened? Were you... you were attacked, weren't you? I'm guessing it must have been a vampire... or a demon, maybe?" This was getting a little... exciting! Meeting a real life demon wasn't something he hadn't done before, but... it was a little rare, though much less so recently.

Well... could this really be considered good luck?
He had gotten off the island. That much Nagito could tell immediately. But he had gotten separated from the others. While being on his own was something he was used to, he had liked living with other people, interacting with them - even if they were perfectly within their rights to not want to deal with someone as useless as he was.
But he had no idea where this was, and the atmosphere seemed very different. The climate was certainly different - in comparison to the island, it was far less humid, and clearly civilized. From what he had seen, all the signs were in English, and everyone was driving on the wrong side of the road, which meant... North America, most likely. That was very far from where he was supposed to be. But there was no sense in endlessly fretting over why he was here, or how he had gotten here. The omnipresent monitors marking Monobear's presence were gone. From what he could see... this was just a normal town.
That, in and of itself, was a little unnerving.
Still, standing around wouldn't let him figure out what had happened. He rounded a corner, intending to find a local and somehow explain his situation - only to behold a woman accosting someone else, asking for help frantically. His mood shifted as he noted the blood on her clothes. A victim of an attempted murder? Or perhaps something less dramatic, but regardless, there was maybe something he could do.
"What happened?" he asked, moving closer - but not too quickly, in case they thought he was being threatening. "Are you hurt?"

He'd...automatically assumed that it had been a vampire or demon who'd attacked her. So this place was frequented by supernatural creatures - and apparently it was common knowledge, too. Under the pretense of stopping to catch her breath and find words for what had just happened to her, Katherine hesitated. Now that she was paying closer attention to this man, she noticed something distinctly unusual about him. Besides the tweed and bowtie, that was. As silence fell, she noticed the abnormality of his heartbeat. ..Heartbeats. There were two. At first, she thought she might be mistaken - but no, she was fairly certain that both sounds were coming from the man before her. And his scent was subtly different than a human's. Not the cold, barely-there scent of another vampire, or the wet dog stink of a werewolf - it was far too similar to a human's for either of those, anyway. It puzzled her, and she had to prompt herself to answer him before her silence gave her away.
"I - I don't..." she stammered, doing her best to seem bewildered. "...There was a man...it tore out his throat." That ought to answer his question, though she wasn't even going to pretend that she was remotely familiar with this place. And someone who was unfamiliar with this place probably wouldn't have been able to casually identify a vampire. She might have said more, but at that moment, someone else approached them. He was a boy, maybe in his late teens, she couldn't say for sure - not an adult, though. His scent was puzzling as well, though for different reasons than the man's had been. He smelled vaguely of sand and sea salt and palm trees, as if he'd been somewhere...tropical. Which didn't fit with their current location at all. Just what odd sort of crowd was she attracting?
Well, she was hardly going to complain. He looked genuinely concerned, so she glanced down at her dress, as if surprised to see the blood splattered there. "No - no, it's not my blood." Katherine told him a bit more steadily, as if she were trying to calm herself down somewhat. "There was another man, and we were both attacked. I tried to help him, drag him away, but..." she trailed off, shaking her head. As amusing as seeing the effect the situation had on these two, she didn't want to linger for too long, in case those hunters found their way into the town. "...we have to go, it might have followed me! ..What is this place?"
